Maurice Muzzey
WENTWORTH - Maurice Henry Muzzey, 80, of Goves Lane, died Oct. 9, 2003 at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
He was born in Wentworth on June 18, 1923 the son of Henry and Effie (Gove) Muzzey. He attended Wentworth schools and graduated from Plymouth High School.
Mr. Muzzey had lived in Plymouth most of his life and moved back to Wentworth in 1978.
He was employed by the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative for 47 years, retiring in 1988, stating "What has been most memorable in my years with the Cooperative is that having studied under a kerosene lamp when I was a kid, I liked seeing these rural areas electrified."
Mr. Muzzey was involved with the formation of Little League Baseball in Plymouth in the 1950s. He was a former member and past president of the Plymouth Lions Club.
Mr. Muzzey was a trustee of the Webster Memorial Library and the Foster Cemetery, both in Wentworth. He was treasurer and moderator of the Wentworth Congregational Church. He was past president and member of the Wentworth Historical Society. He was currently restoring the Wentworth Train Depot to its original condition as he and other Wentworth Children rode the trains to Plymouth Schools.
He was an active member of the Baker River Valley Snowmobile Club and an avid outdoorsman. He spent many hours with friends and family in the woods and on the lakes of New Hampshire celebrating nature.
Mr. Muzzey was a WWII Army Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years Elva C. (Eastman) Muzzey of Wentworth; one daughter, Diane C. Cheney of Warren; three sons: Maurice K. Muzzey of Rumney, Robert W. Muzzey of Canterbury, and William R. Muzzey Sr. of Rumney; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Wesley Muzzey of Rumney; two sisters: Dorice Hawkins and Eunice Muzzey, both of Wentworth; and nieces and nephews
Calling hours will be held in Mayhew Funeral Home, 12 Langdon St., Plymouth, on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the Wentworth Congregational Church on Monday at 1 p.m. The Rev. Donald Sweimler, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Foster Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Wentworth Historical Society, P.O. Box 13, Wentworth, NH. 03282.
Nicole L. Gray
LACONIA - Nicole L. Gray, 26, of 489 Elm St, died at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, on Friday, Nov. 14, 2003 following an automobile accident.
Nicole was born May 30, 1977 in Laconia, the daughter of Kathy Gray and Douglas Morrison, and was a lifetime resident of the Lakes Region. She attended schools in Laconia and Franklin and was a graduate of Franklin High School. She also was a graduate of the Empire Beauty School in Laconia and was a beautician in the Lakes Region.
Nicole is survived by her two daughters, Kandis Gray and Phoebe F. Gray, both of Laconia; her mother, Kathy Gray of Laconia; her father, Douglas Morrison and his wife, Cheryl, of Laconia; her maternal grandmother, Annabelle Cartier, of Laconia; her maternal great-grandmother, Sylvia Gray, of Laconia; her soul-mate, Jon Converse, of Meredith; three brothers, Dustin Gray of Franklin, Jay Barton of Laconia, and Douglas Saunders of Laconia; a step-sister, Liz Sterling of Meredith; many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many special friends.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH. Rev. Roger Brown, Pastor of the Meredith Calvary Bible Church, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brain Injury Association of New Hampshire, 109 N. State Street, Concord, NH 03301.

Stanley R. Mason
SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - Stanley R. Mason, 81, of the Penick Home, Southern Pines, died Thursday evening, Nov. 6, 2003, in Southern Pines.
He was born July 2, 1922, in Laconia, the son of the late Laconia Fire Chief Merle B. and Hazel J. (Sargent) Sargent.
He was a graduate of Laconia High School, Class of 1940, and a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Class of 1948, where he received a degree in engineering.
He had been a longtime resident of Philadelphia, Pa., prior to moving to Southern Pines a few years ago.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a Navy Seabee stationed in the Philippines.
He was employed for many years as an engineer with Sherman and Hoff of Philadelphia, Pa.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Parker) Mason of Southern Pines; a sister, Ilene Sargent Brand of The Village, Fla.; one niece; four nephews; ten great- nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Friends and relatives are invited to attend graveside services on Monday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. in Bayside Cemetery, Laconia, with the Rev. Michael C. Graham, pastor of the Gilford Community Church, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Dewhirst Funeral Home, 1061 Union Ave., Laconia.
Olin A. Ford
LACONIA - Olin A. Ford, 90, of 31 Old Prescott Hill Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2004. He was the widower of Doris P. Ford who died in December, 2003.
Mr. Ford was born Dec. 23, 1913 in Laconia, the son of Archie and Lila (True) Ford.
Mr. Ford was a lifelong resident of Laconia. He was a dairy farmer with a local milk route for many years. During World War II, he was employed at Scott & Williams. He was a custodian at Laconia High School and later at the Memorial Middle School for twenty years, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Ford was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Wilma M. Davis of Laconia and Janice (Walter) F. Snow of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Lila (Roger) Laraway of Laconia, Lynn A. Brazeau of Laconia, Matthew T. Snow of Richmond, Va. and Steven C. Snow of Tucson, Ariz.; five great grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Clayton A. Ford, in 2001.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 from 7-8 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia.

Evelyn V. Nardo
ALTON - Evelyn V. (Harrell) Newbegin Nardo Saulnier, 80, of Alton, died on Jan. 30, 2004.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1924, in Methuen, Mass., the daughter of the late Fred B. and Mildred L. (Orr) Harrell.
She was a 1941 graduate of Edward F. Searles High School, in Methuen, Mass., and from Bryant MacIntosh.
She was a long time resident of the Greater Lawrence area, and moved to Alton, in 1986.
She had worked at W.T. Grant Co. and William Barry Clothing Co., both of Lawrence, Mass., and had retired as a tax examiner for the Internal Revenue Service, Andover, Mass., in 1986.
While living in Alton, she was an active member of the community, serving as an officer of the Alton Senior Citizens, the Wolfeboro Senior Citizens, and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of NH. She was an active parishioner of the former St. Joan of Arc Church, Alton, and enjoyed reading at the Mass. While living in Lawrence, she had attended Grace Episcopal Church before converting to Catholicism, after which she attended Assumption Church.
She loved doing genealogy, and was an avid collector of pigs. Her love of dance and music began in her youth and carried into her adulthood. She enjoyed dressing in costume "Miss Piggy" and "Pepe LaToure" and putting on a show for family reunions and her Senior friends.
Survivors include three children, Mrs. Rick (Pamela) Hartung of Hampstead, Floyd and his wife Sharon Newbegin of Dracut, Mass., and Lois Valentin of Lawrence, Mass. and her mate Lee Rowell of Rochester; five step-children, Elaine Saulnier, Ronald Saulnier, Joan Lallier, Arlene Fiore and Richard Saulnier; eight grandchildren, Mrs. Michael (Tracey) DeBruin of Dracut, Mass., Eric Newbegin of Dracut, Mass., James and his wife Ronna Hartung of Leominster, Mass., Vicki Rose Newbegin of Bridgewater, Mass., Marie Martinez of Methuen, Mass., Eli Newbegin of Jamestown, N.Y., Pedro Valentin of Lawrence, Mass., Mari Vega of Lawrence, Mass., and Mrs. Micheal (Rachel) McKeon of Lawrence, Mass.; seven step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, Jasmine Newbegin and Joshua Castillo both of Methuen, Mass., Ricky Tirado, James McKeon, Jacob McKeon and Jessica McKeon all of Lawrence, Mass., Eli Newbegin of Jamestown NY, and Nicholas DeBruin of Dracut, Mass.; four step great-grandchildren; a god-daughter, Elaine Clark of Salem; her good friend William Hardy; canine companion Mushie of Alton; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, from 2-7 p.m. in the Alton Funeral Home, School St., Alton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004 at 10 a.m. in St. Katherine Drexel Church, Main St., Wolfeboro. Burial will be in New Riverside Cemetery, Alton, in the Spring.

John H. Hounsell
SPRING HILL, Fla. - John H. Hounsell, 73, died June 8, 2004, in Spring Hill after a brief illness.
He was born in Laconia, N.H., the son of Clarence and Louise (Clow) Hounsell.
Mr. Hounsell was a pharmacist. He owned and operated Hounsell Drugs and the Medicine Shoppe in Laconia for many years.
Shortly before his death, Mr. Hounsell and his companion of 20 years, Nancy B. Buell, returned from Europe with friends. He will be remembered as an avid world traveler who loved life and lived each day to the fullest.
Survivors include an aunt, Phyllis (Hounsell) Sloan of Laconia; two cousins, Ellen (Plummer) Preble and Jane Millette of Greenland, N.H.; two nephews, Douglas A. Hounsell of Gilford, N.H., and Jack Hounsell of Naperville, Ill.
There will be no services at this time. The family plans to have a private gathering this summer in Laconia to commemorate John’s life.
