Dorothy Miller

NEW CASTLE - Dorothy (Broadway) Miller, of 27 Steamboat Lane died Friday, June 18, 2004.

Born in Montgomery, Ala., on July 21, 1911, she was the daughter of Thomas B. and Elizabeth F. Broadway.

She was a member of the Church of Christ of Montgomery and a life member of Liberty Chapter OES of Montgomery. She was past president of the New Castle Parents and Teachers Association. For many years she was active with the Portsmouth Girl Scout Council, serving as a Girl Scout troop leader and president of the Portsmouth Girl Scout Council. She was an honorary member of the Harbourside Garden Club of Kittery, Maine.

She was the wife of Norman O. Miller, who died in 1985.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Miller McAndrew (Michael) of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. and New Castle, and Elizabeth F. Miller of North Hampton; a granddaughter, Susannah McAndrew Chen (Gao-Ya) of West Hartford, Conn.; and several nieces and nephews in Montgomery.

A private interment service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Bartlett Cemetery in Amesbury, Mass. Please omit flowers. No visiting hours. Donations in memory of Mrs. Miller may be made to the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements by J. Verne Wood Funeral Home - Buckminster Chapel, 84 Broad St., Portsmouth.

Paul Galvin

ROCHESTER - Paul F. Galvin, 71, of 11 Brookfield Drive died Friday, June 18, 2004, at his home with his loving family by his side after a long battle with cancer.

Born June 20, 1932, in West Roxbury, Mass., he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Campbell) Galvin. Mr. Galvin served in the U.S. Army. He worked for Spaulding Composites for 39 years and also had worked part-time for Cleary Cleaners.

He was a communicant of St. Mary Church of Rochester, a member of the Elks Lodge 1393, the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Rochester Country Club. He enjoyed golf and woodworking.

Members of his family include his wife of 50 years, Gertrude "Pat" (Tubbs) Galvin of Rochester; his children, Donna L. Shea and her companion, James Hinton, of Somersworth, Brenda E. Tracey and her husband, Patrick, of Tonawanda, N.Y., Paul J. Galvin and his wife, Nancy, of Lake Luzerne, N.Y., Mathew E. Galvin of Rochester and Patrick F. Galvin and his wife, Denise, of Frisco, Texas; his grandchildren, Christopher Tracey, Shawn Tracey and his wife, Traci Linn (Keil) Tracey of Tonawanda, N.Y., Suzanna Shea of Dover, Sr. Airman Timothy Shea, who is serving in the Air Force at Fort Walton Beach, Fla., James Galvin and his wife, Beth (Newman), of Worcester, Mass., Jillian (Galvin) Pelkey and her husband, John, of Glens Falls, N.Y., Connor Galvin and Tyler Galvin of Frisco; his great grandchildren, John DeJesus Jr. (Shea), Colin Tracey, Shamus Tracey and Luke Pelkey; a brother, Francis Galvin, of Boston, Mass; three sisters, Maryanne Manley of Roslindale, Mass., Barbara Mann of Haverhill, Mass., and Patricia Shea of Clinton, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothea Comerford; and two brothers, James and Lawrence Galvin.

Family and friends may call Monday, June 21, 2004, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the R.M. Edgerly and Son Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., Rochester, NH. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Church located on Lowell Street in Rochester with Father Pierre Baker, pastor, as celebrant.

Mitchell Dozet

PORTSMOUTH - Mitchell Dozet, 80, Lt. Col. U.S. Air Force (Ret.), of 1721 Lafayette Road, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2004, peacefully at home of complications resulting from a fall on Dec. 24, 2003.

He was born to James Nikola and Jorja Dozet, in Bryte, Calif., on June 15, 1924. The eldest of three children, he survived his brother, George Dozet, his sister, Annie (Dozet) Colombani, and her husband, Victor Colombani.

He joined the Air Force at 18 in 1942 and served during World War II as a bomber pilot. He chose the Air Force as a career and was commissioned as an aircraft commander in February of 1951. He was initially stationed in Texas where he met and married his wife, Isabel Golden. They had been married 52 years. Their first two children, James and Barbara, were born in San Angelo, Texas.

During his military service, he and his family were stationed in Japan, where their second two children, Michele and John, were born. He retired in Portsmouth in 1970 and began a second career as a financial officer for the State of New Hampshire that lasted 11 years.

He was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed spectator sports of all kinds. He was also an avid reader of virtually anything and a crossword puzzle aficionado. Especially active in the lives of his children’s families, he found great pleasure with his seven grandchildren, known to him as "his seven pickles," and his dog, "Smoky."

He is survived by his wife, Isabel Lowe (Golden) Dozet; and their children, James Herbert Dozet and his wife, Donna Lee (Rouleau) Dozet of Rochester, Barbara Isabel Dozet of Portland, Maine, Jorja Michele (Dozet) Volpe and her husband, Matt, Volpe of Kittery, Maine, and John Mitchell Dozet and his wife, Ellen Jean (Pomeroy) Dozet, of Stratham; his grandchildren, "The Seven Pickles," Andrea Nicole Dozet and James Mitchell Dozet of Rochester, Amada Michele Dozet, Cassandra Jean Dozet and Joanna Sue Dozet of Stratham, Zachariah Henry Bigelow of Portland, and Katherine Kendra Volpe of Kittery. Survivors also include a sister-in-law, Arlene; and nephews and nieces, Ron Colombani and his family of California, and George, Thomas, Jana, Gail and Carol Dozet and their families of California and Nevada.

He was predeceased by his nephew, Rich Colombani of California.

Madeline M. Allen

ELIOT, Maine - Madeline Mary Allen, 89, of Eliot, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

She was born in Yarmouth, Maine, on Oct. 2, 1914, the daughter of Bejamin and Celine (Doucette) DeRoche and was raised and educated in Westbrook, Maine.

Madeline married Frank Ray Allen and in 1940 they moved to Eliot. She was a member of the Senior Meals on Wheels, Saint Raphaels Alter Society, and president and treasurer of the Third Order of Saint Francis.

Madeline was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and devoted to her church and faith.

She is survived by her son, William Allen and his wife, Linda, of Wells, Maine; three daughters, Mary T. Allen of Haywood, Calif., Sandra Allen of Westbrook and Deborah Cormier and her husband, Toussaint, of Eliot; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; two sisters, Theresa Herbert and Josephine Lebreque, both of Westbrook.

She was predeceased by her husband; and two children, Clarence J. Allen and Christine M. Willis.

Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 2, 2004,at the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery, Maine, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Saint Raphael’s Church, 6 Whipple Road, Kittery, Maine. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Medical Missionaries of Mary c/o Saint James Church, 2075 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, NH 03801. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wilson-Cooper Funeral Home, 21 Rogers Road, Kittery, Maine 03904.

Warren S. Dyment

GILFORD - Warren S. Dyment, 84, of 595 Morrill St., died at his home on Friday, July 30, 2004.

Mr. Dyment was born June 22, 1920, in South Weymouth, Mass., the son of Walter S. and Veda Mae (Davis) Dyment. He was raised there and attended local schools. Mr. Dyment served in the U.S. Navy from March 1941 to June 1947 and was a survivor of the sinking of the Aircraft Carrier USS WASP CV7 off Guadalcanal during World War II.

He moved to Gilford 65 years ago and was employed at Manter-Oldsmobile in Laconia for 25 years, retiring in June 1983. After his retirement, he enjoyed skiing and roller skating.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn M. (Wells) Dyment of Gilford; two daughters, Ann Dyment Welch and her husband, Robert, of Tilton and Donna Marie Gunby and her husband, Walt, of Lakeport; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Matthew, both of Lakeport; a brother, Dexter Dyment of Sanbornton; a sister, Pauline Baldelli of Hopkinton, Mass.; 12 nieces; and four nephews.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, N.H. A funeral service will follow the calling hour at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home. The Rev. Michael Graham, pastor of the Gilford Community Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family lot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, N.H. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049. Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, N.H., is in charge of the arrangements. .

Thomas P. Marshall

NEWFIELDS - Thomas P. Marshall, 69, of Hervey’s Court, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at his home in Newfields.

Born in Camden, N.J., on Oct. 14, 1934, he was the son of Thomas and Edna (Hogan) Marshall. He had resided in Newfields for 50 years. A veteran of the Koren War, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a custodian at Learning Skills Academy in Rye. Tom had also worked in the local shoe industry and construction. For many years he was a volunteer firefighter in Newfields and for over 15 years was a Newfields Police Officer.

He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, stock car racing, baseball, fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends. Tom was also a Boy Scout leader for many years.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Kitty (Herlihy) Marshall, presently residing at the Rockingham Nursing Home in Brentwood; a son, Thomas S. Marshall and his wife, Robin, of Nottingham; three daughters, Doreen Paquette and her husband, Bob, of Raymond, Janine Fortier and her husband, Dan, of Hampton, and Denise Marshall and Paul Wilber of Newfields; seven grandchildren, Jessica Marshall, Joshua Marshall, Matthew Paquette, Ryan Paquette, Danny Fortier, Alex Wilber and Jayson Marshall; one great-grandchild, Brendon Marshall-Currier; a brother, Ray Marshall of Newfields; five sisters, Dolores Beers of Dover, Edna Buxton of Newfields, Marty Restuccia of Hillsville, Va., Dottie Dawson of Newfields and Bonnie Kelley of Epping; and many nieces nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Lorraine Morin and Jean McCoy; a nephew, Todd Dawson; and great-nephew, David Kuegel.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Newfields Community Church, Main Street, Newfields with the Rev. Robert Collinge officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Newfields. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Donald J. Dussault

MEREDITH - Donald J. Dussault, 71, of 54 Veasey Shore Road and a winter resident of North Port, Fla., died at the Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia on Friday, July 30, 2004.

Mr. Dussault was born Dec. 11, 1932, in Quincy, Mass., the son of Eugene and Mary (MacIsaac) Dussault. He lived most of his life in Concord before moving to Meredith 10 years ago. Mr. Dussault graduated from Concord High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Dussault was the owner of Merrimack Sheet Metal Inc., in Concord. He was a member and past exalted ruler of the Concord Lodge of Elks 1210 and was very active in community and business affairs in the Concord area.

Mr. Dussault enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and tennis. He was a communicant of St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church in Meredith.

Survivors include his wife, Sally (Little) Dussault of Meredith and North Port, Fla.; three sons, Dennis A. Dussault of St. Thomas, U.S.Virgin Islands, Scott J. Dussault of Boscawen, and James E. Dussault of Pembroke; three daughters, Debra J. Winters of Helena, Mont., Pamela R. Dussault of Hood River, Ore., and Cathy M. Gesel of Brasher Falls, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; one brother, Richard Dussault of Merrimack; one sister, Muriel Couture of Marshfield, Mass.; and many nephews and nieces.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Dussault.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, N.H. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Aug. 2, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, Route 25, Meredith, N.H. John P. Puglisi

ELIOT, Maine - John P. Puglisi will be buried on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Brooks Memorial Cemetary, in Eliot at 10 a.m. All are welcome to attend.

Sherman Carr

RYE - Sherman E. Carr, 86 , of 115 Alehson St., died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004. He was born in Methuen, Mass., May 16, 1918, the son of the late Henry I. and Leona E. (Baldwin) Carr.

Raised in Lawrence, Mass., Mr. Carr earned the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Punchard High School in Andover, Mass., and later attended Burdett Business College in Boston.

He was a veteran of World War II; serving with the U.S. Army, he participated in the Battle of the Bulge and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Carr worked as an accountant for the Furniture Barn in Andover from 1945 until his retirement in 1982. He also freelanced on his own, offering private tax services and held an account with University Cap & Gown in Lawrence for many years.

He was a communicant of St. Theresa Church, a former Eucharistic minister and was active with the Rye Ambulance Corps.

He shared 64 years of marriage with his wife Gertrude M. (Fallon) Carr.

Family members include three daughters, Mary Lou Carr of Rye, Jane E. Sullivan of Dunstable, Mass., Elizabeth A. Haskell of Kalamazoo, Mich.; 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Carr of Londonderry.

He was predeceased by two sons, Robert A. Carr who died in 2001, and Thomas S. Carr, who died in 2002.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Theresa Church, Rye Beach, Wednesday at 10 a.m.. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.. Burial will be in the Central Cemetery, Rye. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833 or to Compass Care, Parrott Avenue, Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Nancy Leggett

FRANKLIN - Nancy Ann (Avery) Leggett, 57, of 1 Woodbine Drive died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, at the Franklin Regional Hospital following a period of failing health.

She was born in Springfield, Mass., Sept. 29, 1947, daughter of the late Clarence and Pearl (Pelltier) Avery.

She attended school in West Springfield and then lived in Springfield, Mass., until moving to Franklin four years ago. She was a homemaker for most of her married life and often baked for area bakeries in the Springfield areas.

She was of Roman Catholic faith. She was predeceased by a brother, Clarence W. Avery Jr. and sister Rita Buck.

Her family includes her husband of over 38 years, Raymond E. Leggett of Franklin; two daughters, Dawn L. Twining and husband Mark of Franklin, and Denise A. Merone and husband Frank of Staten Island, N.Y.; two sons, Michael A. Leggett and wife Zazi of Dover, and Richard W. Leggett of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; eight grandchildren; a brother, Donald W. Avery of Ludlow, Mass.; a sister, Shirley Nowasadko of Trenton, N.J.; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Home. Burial will be at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, later this week. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
