Margaret R. Francoeur
LACONIA - Margaret R. Francoeur, 93, formerly of 108 Shore Drive, died June 16, 2004, at the Belknap County Nursing Home following an extended period of ill health.
A resident of Laconia for most of her life, she was born in St. Jean, Quebec, on March 16, 1911, the daughter of William and Nellie (Friar) Ryan. She was a graduate of Laconia High School, Class of 1929. She was employed by the J. J. Morin Co. and later joined her husband, George A. Francoeur, in the operation of the former Francoeur & Keroack Plumbing & Heating Co.
Her husband died March 8, 1987. They had enjoyed over 50 years of marriage.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Beverly) Moulton of Gilford; three grandsons, Stephen Moulton and Douglas Moulton, both of Gilford and Dennis Moulton and his wife, Maureen Gallagher, MD, of Portsmouth; several nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by three brothers and a sister.
A calling hour will be held in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. on Monday from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber are the funeral directors.
James Fitzpatrick
LACONIA - James J. Fitzpatrick, 85, Lake Village Apartments in Lakeport, died Aug. 5, 2004, at Lakes Region General Hospital.
He was born Aug. 20, 1918, in New Jersey.
Mr. Fitzpatrick was a World War II Navy veteran.
He moved to central New Hampshire during the 1960s. He owned and operated the Squam Lakes Motel in Holderness for many years. He later worked for Emerson Aviation, retiring around 1980.
Shortly after retiring he moved to Florida where he lived until he returned to the Lakes Region about five years ago.
His hobby was building model airplanes.
In recent years, Mr. Fitzpatrick particularly enjoyed visits from his son-in-law, George Brundige.
Survivors include three daughters, Marie Brundige and her husband George of Laconia, Jill Fitzpatrick of Laconia and Denise Roberts of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Christopher and Chandra Roberts and Olivia Fitzpatrick; one sister, "Bib" Caldwell of New Jersey.
Deborah Ann Riga
GILFORD Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Porter Road, East Longmeadow, Mass., with internment at Adam's Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will receive friends at Salvatore's Restaurant on Boston Road following the internment for a reception and celebration of Deborah's life.
On Sunday, Oct. 24, the family will receive Deborah's friends and neighbors at 903 Cherry Valley Road in Gilford from 2-4:30 p.m. There will be a brief memorial and remembrance service at 2:30 p.m., followed by a reception and celebration of Deborah's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions be made to the Deborah Anne Riga Memorial Fund, care of Fleet Bank, 1889 Wilbraham Road, Wilbraham, Mass., 01129, or to a charity of one's choice. The Wilbraham Funeral Home is handling all funeral arrangements.
Ralph E. Berrett, Jr.
GLOUCESTER, Mass. -- Ralph E. Berrett, Jr., of Gloucester, and formerly of Belmont, died Tuesday evening at the Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester.
Born in Saugus, Mass., he attended Saugus High School and Essex Agricultural and Technical High School. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Marines during World War II. He was an avid hockey player all of his life.
A resident of Stoneham, Mass. for 20 years, he worked as a truck driver for several years and was employed as a custodian by the Stoneham, Mass., Public Schools for 15 years until his retirement. He was also a former coach for Stoneham Youth Hockey.
Mr. Berrett was a resident of Belmont from 1983 until 2003 and briefly lived in Plaistow before his recent move to Gloucester. He is survived by his wife Kathryn (Meehan) Berrett, a son Ralph E. Berrett, III and his wife Patricia of Billerica, Mass.; two daughters, Michelle Sykes and her husband Carl of Plaistow; and Yvonne Leveille and her husband Clarence "Skip" of Gloucester, Mass.; also six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Private family funeral services will be on Friday at Brookside Chapel & Funeral home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, followed by burial in South Road Cemetery, Belmont.
Melanie J. Moynihan
BRISTOL -- Melanie J. Moynihan, 51, of Bristol, died at Concord Hospital on Wednesday, October 13, 2004.
Melanie was born March 7, 1953 in Laconia, the daughter of Andrew J. and Elaine ( Grew) Moynihan. She graduated from Laconia High School in 1971 and attended the University of New Hampshire.
She had been a resident of Bristol for the past 20 years, coming from Gilford. She was a former Special Education Aide for the Newfound School District. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.
Survivors include her father, Andrew J. Moynihan, of Laconia; a sister, Lisa M. Hazeltine, of Gilford; and a brother, John A. Moynihan, of Gilford. She was predeceased by her mother, Elaine (Grew) Moynihan, in 1999.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church St., Laconia, N.H. Rev. Gary Kosmowski, Pastor of the Church, will be the celebrant.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Bayside Cemetery in Laconia. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Concord Hospital, Office of Philanthropy, 250 Pleasant St., Concord, N.H. 03301.

Sylvia Bell Gray
LACONIA -- Sylvia Bell Gray, 98, of 13 Pear St., Lakeport, died at her home on Wednesday, October 13, 2004.
She was born February 7, 1906 in Center Sandwich, the daughter of Charles S. and Grace (Chase) Burnham. She was a longtime resident of Center Sandwich and was a member of the United Baptist Church of Center Sandwich.
She moved to Laconia 50 years ago and worked at Scott & Williams for 25 years, retiring in 1973. She loved to knit and each year she would knit 300 pairs of mittens and hats to distribute to the local children at Halloween.
Survivors include a son, William I. Gray, of Laconia; six daughters, Alice Hewitt of Gilford, Edith Dumais of York, Penn., Helen Smalz of Arizona, Marilyn Gray of Florida, and Elizabeth Chase and Mary Tutt, both of Laconia; 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and many great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Richard Gray, in 1985 and by a brother, S. Wesley Burnham, in 1992.
According to Mrs. Gray's wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service. Mrs. Gray's family would like to extend many thanks to Community Health & Hospice, Inc. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice, Inc., 780 No. Main St., Laconia, N.H. 03246.

Gloria "Peters" Taylor
ASHLAND -- Gloria "Peters" Taylor, 70, a longtime resident of Ashland, died suddenly at her home on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004.
She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Harvey Stewart Sr. of Ashland, and her husband, Thomas E. Peters.
She was employed as a mill room setup person at Freudenberg in Bristol until her retirement. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Fairfield, Maine for 32 years.
She is survived by three sisters and two brothers. She was a devoted mother, and is survived by six children: Carol Ober and Thomas E. Peters, both of Ashland, Cynthia Peters Vermette of Franklin, John J. Peters of Meredith, Franklin E. Peters of Laconia, and Terry Taylor Wellons of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 7-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004 at the Dupuis Funeral Home, 9 Hill Ave., Ashland. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Everett Palmer, will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004 at the Baptist Church on Main Street in Ashland.

Lee M. Brackett
GARDNER, Mass. -- Lee M. Brackett, 63, of 68 Greenwood Place, Gardner, Mass., died Thursday, Dec. 2 following a three-year battle with mesothelioma.
He was born in Leominster, Mass. on Dec. 1, 1941, the son of Howard W. and Evelyn (Harper) Brackett. He lived in New Hampshire, Florida and Ashburnham, Mass., before moving to Gardner, Mass. in 2003.
He worked as a mechanic for Ron Bouchard's Auto Stores as well as other dealerships in Mass., Fla. and N.H. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the Destroyer USS Hazelwood. Lee was a member of the Fitchburg and Westminster Sportsmen's Clubs, the N.R.A. and G.O.A.L., and was a past member of the Camera Club of Fitchburg. His hobbies included photography and target shooting.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, Virginia (Dickley) Brackett; a son, Andrew E. Brackett and daughter-in-law, Sandra (Goguen) Brackett of Moultonborough; a daughter, Kim E. Brackett of Gardner, Mass.; a brother, Richard A. Brackett of Fitchburg, Mass.; two cousins, George W. Peacock of Mill Valley, Calif. and Patricia Wolf of Highland Park, N.H.; a niece and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, in the Ashburnham Community Church on Main Street in Ashburnham, Mass. There are no calling hours. Maurice W. Lee
FRANKLIN -- Maurice W. Lee, 93, of 29 Baldwin St., Franklin, passed away Dec. 2, 2004 at the Franklin Regional Hospital after a sudden illness.
Born in Livermore Falls, Maine, on Dec. 10, 1910, the son of Charles L. and Mabel Webber Lee, he later moved to Berlin, where he graduated from Berlin High School. He worked for International Paper Company in Berlin, Berlin Public Works, and Twin State Gas and Electric Company, which later became Public Service Co. of New Hampshire, from which he retired in 1973. After being transferred to Lancaster in 1946 he became very involved in the community serving in local municipal offices, as precinct commissioner and selectman. As an active member of Kiwanis, he was instrumental in the improvement and maintenance of the community skating rink. His pride was his involvement in the Lancaster Fire Department where he rose through the ranks to become chief. He was instrumental in many improvements including the building of a new and spacious fire station. He was a member of North Star Lodge of Masons where he became a Grand Master.
He and his wife of almost 65 years, Madeline, who passed away in 2002, moved to Ossipee Lake in 1973. They spent their remaining years in central New Hampshire.
He is survived by two sisters, Velma Gunn of Berlin and Erma Oliver of West Lynn, Mass.; a son, David, of Winter Haven, Fla; a daughter, Carol Lamper of Meredith; three grandchildren, Cheryl Clemons of Watertown, Mark Lamper of Concord, and Debra Lamper of Meredith; three great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a brother, Howard Lee, and by a sister, Louise Rock.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services. Interment will be in the Summer Street Cemetery, Lancaster on Monday, Dec. 6, 2004. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Shawn M. O’Keefe
FRANKLIN - Shawn M. O’Keefe, 28, of 142 North Main Street, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004 in Boscawen, as a result of a motor vehicle accident. He was born in Lowell, Mass., the son of Michael O’Keefe and Susan St. Pierre. Mr. O’Keefe was employed by True Builders of Manchester. He lived in Franklin for the past year, coming from Manchester.
Survivors include his wife, Pennie (Barney) O’Keefe of Franklin; his mother Susan St. Pierre of Goffstown, two sons: Andrew Jacobs of Londonderry and Caleb O’Keefe of Concord; three stepsons: Lucas Carpenter, Caleb Vigue and Branden Vigue all of Franklin; one brother, Michael O’Keefe of Litchfield; his maternal grandmother Rudy St. Pierre of Lowell, Mass.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Thibault-Neun Funeral Home, 143 Franklin Street, Franklin.
