A. Milicent Burchell
LACONIA - Mrs. A. Milicent Burchell, 88, of 435 Union Ave., The Taylor Home, and formerly of Lower Bay Road in Sanbornton, died at the Congregate Living Center in Laconia on Monday, Oct. 1, 2001.
Mrs. Burchell was born Nov. 17, 1912, in Middletown, Conn., the daughter of the Rev. S. J. A. and Anna (Schwarz) Rook.
Mrs. Burchell was a member of the Congregational Church of Laconia and the Friendship Club.
She summered on Lake Winnisquam in Sanbornton for 25 years and then continued to live there year round for the next 20 years until she and her husband moved into The Taylor Home in Laconia in 1998.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, the Rev. Dr. E. Ray Burchell of Laconia; two daughters, Ann H. Daoust of W. Hartford, Conn. and Gay B. Lauderback of Cherry Hill, N.J.; three grandchildren, Parrin Daoust Durso of Pittsfield, Mass.; Kristina Lauderback and Charles Lauderback Jr., both of Cherry Hill, N.J.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Oct. 4, from 7-8 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Oct. 5, at 2 p.m. at the Congregational Church of Laconia, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia. The Rev. E. Barent Grevatt, former pastor of the church will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Carolyn H. Keilig, interim associate pastor of the church. Burial will follow in the family lot in Union Cemetery, Laconia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dorcas Fund, Congregational Church of Laconia, 18 Veterans Square, Laconia, NH 03246.
Richard S. Shaw
BELMONT - Richard S. Shaw, 49, of 77 Perkins Road, died at the Lakes Region General Hospital on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001.
Mr. Shaw was born Sept. 9, 1952, in Laconia, the son of Clarence E. and Alice L. (Wellman) Shaw.
Mr. Shaw worked for Beede Electric for 15 years.
Mr. Shaw enjoyed hunting, fishing and archery. He attended the Belmont Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy L. Tsantoulis of Belmont and Chrissy D. Dow of Canterbury; two grandchildren, Bobbielee Jackson of Belmont and Ryan Tsantoulis of Belmont; three sisters, Gladys S. Marshall of Tilton, Linda A. Laramie of Belmont, and Constance M. Corbin of Belmont; two nephews, Richard B. Shaw of Belmont and Ronald D. Jemery of Alabama; and his girlfriend, Virginia Canfield of Belmont.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda M. Shaw, and a brother, Clarence A. Shaw.
There will be no calling hours.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4, at the family lot in Park Cemetery, Tilton. The Rev. Charles Crook, pastor of the Belmont Baptist Church, will officiate.
Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements.

Francis W. Hight
BOCA RATON, Fla. - Francis W. Hight, 83, of Boca Raton, formerly of Cranston, R.I., and Campton, N.H., died Sept. 30, 2001, at his home in Boca Raton. He was the husband of Ellen (Morrocco) Hight.
Mr. Hight was employed by the Washburn Wire Co. for 25 years and also owned and operated Frank & Ellen’s Antiques in Weirs Beach, N.H., and Ashland, N.H., for 20 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Dr. Joseph Hight of Springfield, Va., David Hight of Boca Raton, and Richard Hight of Cranston, R.I.; one daughter, Esther Phelps Zoglia of West Warwick, R.I.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his children Thomas and Ellen Hight and a great-grandchild, Jonathan Gilkenson.
Ruth Hammond
DUBLIN - Ruth (Stiles) Hammond, 68, died Sept. 29, 2001, in Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough, after a lengthy battle with cancer and heart disease.
Born in concord, Mass., she was raised in Stow, Mass.
In 1954, she earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Massachusetts.
Mrs. Hammond worked many years as an actuarial assistant in Worcester, Mass., and Hartford, Conn. In 1960, she moved to Dublin. She co-founded the Dublin Pre-School. For 19 years, she worked as vice president and treasurer of Hammond Engineering Corp., Keene.
In addition, Mrs. Hammond served as a volunteer in the Dublin Women’s Club; the Girl Scouts; 4-H Club; Pony Club; and regional school finance committees. She was a member of Dublin Community Church, serving many years as treasurer. She also served as treasurer of the Dublin Historical Society.
In 1993, Mrs. Hammond was named Dublin’s first "Citizen of the Year." She recently helped compile the genealogy of Dublin residents, forthcoming with the town history.
Family members include her husband of 41 years, Richard A. Hammond; two daughters, Sarah Hammond Creighton of Manchester, Mass., and June Hammond Rowan of Waterville Valley; two grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Speak of Sewickley.
Francis H. Keenan
BRIDGEWATER - Francis Howard "Chub" Keenan, 82, of Whittemore Point Road, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at his residence after a period of failing health.
Born in Cambridge, Mass., on July 8, 1919, he was the son of Frank I. and Henrietta (MacCombie) Keenan.
Prior to moving to Bridgewater in 1970, he had resided in Winchester, Mass., where he owned and operated his own service station, Keenan Citgo. Upon moving to New Hampshire he worked as Parts Manager for Fred’s Auto.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater and Africa. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association; a member of the American Legion Post 26 of Bristol, a former Rotarian and a Charter Member of the Winchester, Mass., Kiwanis.
He was a lifelong sportsman spending much of his free time hunting and fishing in Pittsburg.
Family members include his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara (Wright) Keenan of Bridgewater; two sons, Stephen Keenan of Newmarket, and James Keenan of Winchester, Mass.; a daughter, Leslie Dion of Bristol; five grandchildren; a sister, Regina Goodwin of Kennebunk, Maine; and several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Holderness. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Newfound Area Nursing Association, 214 Lake St., Bristol, NH 03222 or Bristol Fire Company, Thermal Imaging Fund, 85 Lake St., Bristol, NH 03222. Arrangements are under the direction of Emmons Funeral Home of Bristol.
David B. Bucklin Sr.
ALEXANDRIA - David B. Bucklin Sr., 57, of Ragged Mt. Highway, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Concord Hospital after a period of declining health.
He was born in Alexandria, the son of Lyle and Clara (Flanders) Bucklin. He graduated from Bristol High School and worked for IPC and Freudenberg for the past 40 years.
Mr. Bucklin was a member of the Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department where he had worked his way through the line and was a former Fire Chief. He was currently serving as Deputy Forest Fire Warden.
He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Moose Club in Vermont. He enjoyed playing on bowling leagues in his spare time.
Family members include three children, David Bucklin Jr. of Alexandria, Pamela Gilpatric of Bridgewater, and Michael Bucklin of Hill; five grandchildren; two brothers, Everett and John Bucklin, both of Alexandria; and two sisters, Edith Bean and Constance Currier, both of Alexandria. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Lyle.
Memorial calling hours will be today from 7-9 p.m. at the Emmons Funeral Home, 115 South Main St., Bristol. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 10 a.m. in the Alexandria United Methodist Church. Barbara F. Spangler
WESTON, Mass. - Barbara (Fellows) Spangler, 81, a Weston resident for more than 45 years, died Dec. 7, 2001, at her home.
She was born in Bradford, Mass., daughter of Harold E. and Janet (Edgerly) Fellows, and was the widow of Dr. Arthur Spangler, MD, who died in 1975.
She volunteered throughout her lifetime for numerous organizations and societies in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
Some of the leadership positions she held in Weston were chair of the Guides at the Golden Ball Tavern, director of Blood Drives for the American Red Cross and director of the Altar Guild at St. Peter Episcopal Church.
In New Hampshire, her positions included docent at the Canterbury Shaker Village, president of the Gilmanton Historical Society and commissioner of Trust Funds for the town of Gilmanton.
Mrs. Spangler’s memberships included the Landscape Design Critics Counsel, The Vincent Club, the Weston Garden Club and the Weston and Broomstones Curling Club, where she was a founding and charter member.
The family includes two sons, Dr. A. Stephen Spangler of Boston and Mark Emerson Spangler of Wichita, Kansas; a sister, Jeanne Smith of Chestnut Hill; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Janet Spangler and a son, William Spangler.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 30, at 11 a.m. in St. Peter Episcopal Church, Boston Post Road (Rt. 20) Weston. Burial will be private.
