William Mead
HARTFORD, Conn. - William Randolph Lacy Mead, 62, father, husband, architect, died suddenly on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000 at Hartford Hospital from diabetic complications.
He was the son of the late George Jackson and Cary Hoge Mead. He attended the Hotchkiss School, and Williams College. He began pursuing his lifelong love of architecture at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University.
In 1958 he married Johanna Henriette Jacoba van Andel.
Mt. Mead was an active planner and activist. He conceived and coordinated the master plan for the Adriaen's Landing project to revitalize Hartford's downtown. Among his other landmark contributions were the American School for the Deaf, Thames River Campus, UConn Health Center, Mystic Seaport Museum, Balbrae Condominiums, 180 Allyn Street Tower, Squam Lakes Science Center, and US Postal Service main branch retail outlets throughout New England.
A champion of sustainable development on Squam Lake where he grew up, William was a founding member of the Squam Lakes Science Center and an active member of Church Island and Squam Lakes Conservation Society. He served on the Boston Transportation Review Committee, Nahant Planning Board, EastWest Foundation, and Architects for Social Responsibility.
He directed his architectural firm, The Mead Group, formerly WM Design Group, for 33 years and received several awards: Department of Energy award, Dracut Housing Competition, American Association of School Administrators award, and Design Award for "Urban Design at a Rural Scale." He lectured on "Passive Solar and Energy Conservation Design" in China and America.
An avid hiker of the White Mountains, Mr. Mead assisted in rescue operations and trail maintenance in his youth. He instilled in his children a deep abiding love for the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Johanna; his sons, Jan Willem of San Francisco, Calif., Mark of Chapel Hill, N.C., Samuel of Northampton, Mass. and Joshua of West Hartford; and his daughters, Sonya of Belmont, Mass. and Tanya of Portland, Ore.

Fern D. Avery
CAMPTON - Fern D. Avery, 73, formerly of Lincoln Green, died Oct. 16, 2000 at her daughter’s home, after a long illness.
She was born in Thornton on Nov. 10, 1926, the daughter of Daniel and Lillian (Adams) Danforth.
Mrs. Avery lived most of her life in Campton and had resided in Lincoln for the past several years.
She worked at Adam’s Supermarket in Plymouth and was last employed by White Mountain Industries in Campton.
Mrs. Avery was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Plymouth.
She will be dearly missed by all. She was a very special lady who touched many people’s lives.
Survivors include her husband, Robert F. Avery of the NH Veterans Home in Tilton; three daughters, Marlene Uhlman and Judy DuBois, both of Thornton, and Becky Noseworthy of North Woodstock; one son, Paul Avery of Campton; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Gloria Merrill of Thornton; nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held in Blair Cemetery, Campton, on Thursday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Violet Eastman, pastor of the Campton Congregational Church, will officiate. Memorial donations may be made to the Pemi Baker Home Health Agency, Hospice Program, 258 Highland St., Plymouth, NH 03264. The Mayhew Funeral Home in Plymouth is in charge of arrangements.
Bradley G. Vozella
PALMETTO, Fla. - Bradley G. Vozella, 57, of Palmetto, formerly of Walpole, Mass., and Laconia, N.H., died suddenly on Jan. 31, 2001.
During the 1960s and 1970s, Mr. Vozella owned the Paugus Motel and Cottages on Lake Winnipesaukee in Laconia, N.H.
An Army veteran, Mr. Vozella was last an antique dealer.
He is survived by his mother, Eileen Vozella of Bradenton; his sister, Sandra DeSear, also of Bradenton; his three children, Denise Kuphal of Longmeadow, Mass., Christopher Vozella, currently based in Italy for the US Navy, and Cheryl Dauksewich of Attleboro, Mass.; five grandchildren; and two nieces.
Reino A. Lampi
MEREDITH - Reino Albert Lampi, 87, a resident of Meredith since 1992, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton following a period of failing health.
He was born in West Barnstable, Mass., Sept. 27, 1913, son of Arvid T. and Anna (Tikkala) Lampi. He spent his youth in West Barnstable and lived in Barnstable until moving to Meredith.
Mr. Lampi and his wife, Barbara, celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on Jan. 1.
He owned the Pine Spring Trout Farm in Centerville, Mass. from 1964-1979 and was Shellfish Warden for the town of Barnstable for more than 18 years. He traveled the United States from 1986 until 1992.
During World War II, Mr. Lampi served with the US Army and was a member of the 44th Coast Artillery Battalion in Hawaii, Saipan and Iwo Jima. He served as a plotter. His duties were to obtain and determine firing data for mobile seacoast 155MM cannons.
His family includes his wife, Barbara (Robbins) Lampi of Meredith; a daughter, Janet Waldron of Meredith; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brothers, Henry Lampi of Rhode Island and Tauno Lampi of Dennis, Mass.; sisters, Irene Henderickson of Fair Oaks, Calif., Viola Johnson of Orange Vail, Calif., and Annie Hagen of Wilton, Calif.; nieces and nephews.
According to Reino’s wishes, there are no calling hours. A committal service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen with Chaplain Matthew Vesey of the 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, Fort Drum, N.Y., officiating. Military honors and burial will follow.

Dr. Laura G. Jacques
CONCORD - Laura G. Jacques, MD, 102, of 43 South Spring St., died on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2001, at her home.
She was born in Ashland on April 16, 1898, the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Goyette) Jacques. She was educated in the Ashland schools and graduated from the University of New Hampshire in 1922.
After working for three years as the first medical technician at Maine General Hospital in Portland, she entered Boston University Medical School. She received her medical doctorate in 1930 and practiced medicine in Tilton for seven years. She specialized in pathology under Dr. Miller at Dartmouth Medical School. In 1943, she became the pathologist for the state of New Hampshire, remaining in that position until she retired in 1963.
She was a member of the New Hampshire Medical Association and the College of American Pathologists.
She also belonged to a local painting group, Studio II.
She was predeceased by her husband, Wilford Dion, who died in 1957, and by 14 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews including her great-great-niece, Cynthia Boyle Maimone, who was her caregiver for the past nine years.
There are no visiting hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 South Main St., Concord.
Burial will be in the spring in Green Grove Cemetery, Ashland.

Reginald G. Bartlett
BELMONT - Reginald G. Bartlett, 75, of 24 Randlett St., died Thursday evening, March 29, 2001, at Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia
Born July 24, 1925, in Lovell, Maine, he was the son of the late Edward Nelson and Alegura (McAllister) Bartlett.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving both in the European and Pacific theaters. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Area Ribbon, and the Asiatic Area Ribbon.
He had been a resident of Connecticut for many years prior to moving to Maine in 1968. From there, he moved to New Hampton in 1971, and had most recently resided in Belmont since 1995
Prior to his retirement, he was employed at Aavid Engineering as a lead man.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows of Portland, Conn.; Wilkins-Smith Post #1, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1670, both of Laconia; and a former member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks BPOE #876.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ola L. (Burbank) Bartlett of Belmont; three sons, Walter C. "Junior" Bartlett of Yuba City, Calif., Gardiner E. Bartlett of Sweden, Maine, and Reginald N. "Rick" Bartlett of Boscawen; a daughter, Nancy Garland of Ashland; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward M. Bartlett of Fryeburg, Maine, Ronald N. Bartlett of Middletown, Conn., Lloyd R. Bartlett of E. Hampton, Conn., H. Wayne Bartlett of Raymond, Maine, and R. Lindon Bartlett of Brownfield, Maine; sisters, Carlene Colbath of Conway and Sandra J. Lacy of East Rochester; several nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Friends and relatives are invited to attend funeral services on Saturday, April 7, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Dewhirst Funeral Home, 1061 Union Ave., Laconia, with the Rev. Everett Palmer, pastor of the Ashland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Oakland Cemetery, Meredith.

Roena M. Russell
WOLFEBORO - Roena M. Russell, 64, died March, 22, 2001, at her home in Mount Dora, Fla.
Mrs. Russell was born in Wolfeboro and graduated from Brewster Academy. She later moved to Laconia where she lived until moving to Florida about 10 years ago.
While living in Laconia, she worked at Allen-Rogers. After moving to Florida she became a certified nurse’s aide and for the last seven years worked at the Waterman Village nursing home in Mount Dora.
Survivors include her mother, Hazel Lane of Wolfeboro; five sons, one daughter and an aunt, Inez Caswell of Wolfeboro.
A graveside service has been scheduled for Monday, May 28 at Lakeview Cemetery in Wolfeboro.
