Henry S. Tupeck
TUFTONBORO - Henry S. Tupeck, 75, of Middle Road in Tuftonboro, died July 29, 2000, at his home following a brief illness.
He was born Aug. 11, 1924, the son of the late Steven and Bernice (Ayers) Tupeck.
Tupeck was a native and life-long resident of Tuftonboro and had worked for A.J. Coleman & Son Construction Co., in Conway for 33 years. He served as a "Buck" Sergeant in the U.S. Army, 25th Quarter Master Company, in Japan during World War II.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Caroline (Nudd) Tupeck of Tuftonboro; his loving daughter, Gloria Carter, also of Tuftonboro; several grandchildren; and a brother, Russell Tupeck of Tuftonboro.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home on Route 28 in Wolfeboro. Graveside services will be Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. in the Townhouse Cemetery in Tuftonboro.

William "Bill" M. Ainsworth
BELMONT - William "Bill" M. Ainsworth Sr., 81, of Belmont, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia.
Born in Manchester on Dec. 14, 1918, he was the son of the late Archie and Dorothy (Stocker) Ainsworth Sr. He had lived in Belmont for the past 46 years.
Mr. Ainsworth served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion of Belmont.
He worked for Persons Concrete as a construction worker for 32 years.
Family members include his wife of 54 years, Gladys (Butterfield) Ainsworth of Laconia; three sons, Dana L. Ainsworth of Belmont, Herbie R. Ainsworth of Belmont and William M. Ainsworth Jr. of Meredith; two stepsons, Robert Davis of Laconia and John D. Monahan of Laconia; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Archie Ainsworth Jr. of Bartlett and Tinker Ainsworth of Bartlett; two sisters, Marion Morton of North Conway and Agnes Judge of Pittsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by a son, Douglas Ainsworth, in 1989, and by a grandson, Dana L. Ainsworth Jr., in 1984.
Callings hours are today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 2, at 11 a.m. at the Bartlett Union Congregational Church in Bartlett. Burial will follow in the family lot in Bartlett Village Cemetery.
The Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
David E. Foote
GORHAM - Mr. David E. Foote, 67, of Gorham passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin.
He was born April 29, 1933, in Springfield, Mass., the son of Onie A. and Helen R. Rathbun Foote, and he moved to Pittsburg where he was a graduate of Pittsburg High School. After graduation from high school, he attended trade school for carpentry and started to work in the Berlin-Gorham area in the construction industry for about 15 years. He was head carpenter at the Mount Washington Hotel, and he also helped to build the New Hampshire Vocational-Technical College's new wing; the Coos County Nursing Home in Berlin; the new Mount Washington Observatory; and the Berlin Senior High School. He also was part of the building process at the Berlin Post Office. Upon leaving the construction industry, he then went to work for the Brown Company and James River Corp., where he retired in 1995.
Mr. Foote was a member of the union Local 75. He spent his retirement doing the many things that he was interested in. He enjoyed playing horse shoes and spending time with his grandchildren.
Members of the family include his son Timothy Foote of Kearsarge; three daughters, Wendy Foote of Easton, Conn., Judi Montgomery of Williston, Vt., and Lori Meserve of Standish, Maine; one grandson; five granddaughters; a sister, Ruth Covell of Pittsburg; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Thursday evening, July 27, at 7 p.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home, 180 Hillside Avenue, Berlin.
Helen Mae Legge
NORFOLK - Funeral services are private for Helen Mae Legge, 70, who died July 15 at Caritas Norwood Hospital. She was the wife of Vernon Legge.
Born in North Conway, NH on December 4, 1929, she was the daughter of the late John and Maude Munroe. She had also resided in Brooksville, Florida.
Mrs. Legge had been employed as a licensed practical nurse for many years at Medfield State Hospital.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Paul Legge of Norfolk and Robb Legge of Hickory, NC; two daughters, Lyn Legge of De Land, Florida, and Diana Legge of Sanford, Florida; three brothers, Ernest Munroe of North Conway, NH, Woodie Munroe of Chatham, NH, and Clayton Munroe of Rochester, NH; a sister, Isabel Devold of Brooksville; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Arrangements are by the National Cremation Service, 86 Copeland St., Quincy.
Tillie McCarthy
TAMWORTH - Tillie McCarthy of Remick Acres in Tamworth, died July 18, 2000, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro after a long illness.
A memorial service will be held at South Tamworth United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 29 at 10 a.m.
William David Quinn
Madison-William David Quinn, 58, of Rr. 113, Madison, died July 27, at his home in Madison.
Born March 3, 1942 in Pine Hill, New Jersey son of the late William D. and Jacquelin (Foster) Quinn.
Mr. Quinn worked for Wagner Homes and Inglis Engineering in New Jersey and later worked for North Conway Lumber when he moved to Madison 18 years ago.
Survivors include his wife Margaret (Whalen) Quinn of Madison, three sons Matthew Quinn of Madison, David Quinn of Madison, Brain Quinn of Westmont, NJ and six grandsons.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of West Ossipee is in charge of arrangements.
Clayton A. "Buzz" Sawyer
BARRE TOWN, Vt. - Clayton A. "Buzz" Sawyer, 72, died July 13, 2000, in Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, Vt.
He was born in Hanover, N.H. on May 18, 1928, the son of Philip and Lucy (Williams) Sawyer.
Sawyer graduated from Kennett High School in Conway, N.H. in 1947 and from the New Hampshire Barber College in Manchester in 1985.
On Oct. 3, 1954, he married Phyllis G. Robinson in Post Mills. They had been long-time Barre Town residents.
Sawyer was a carpenter, a barber at Norwich University and most recently, a steward at the Masonic Temple in Barre.
He was an avid history reader, enjoyed outdoor activities and working in the Boy Scout and Cub Scout programs.
He served in the U.S. Army in Korea, and was awarded the Combat Infantryman's Badge.
He was a member and had been a deacon and usher at Barre Congregational Church and had served on other church committees. He was a past master of Granite Lodge 35 of Barre and was voted Mason of the Year in 1997. He was also a member of Granite Chapter 26 RAM, St. Aldemar Commandery 11 K.T., all of Barre and Mount Sinai Shrine Temple 3 of Montpelier, the Barre Square and Compass Club, the Past Masters Assoc., Ruth Chapter 33 OES, Barre American Legion Post 10, MacKenzie Webster VFW Post 790 and the Vermont Society of Mayflower Descendants.
Survivors include his wife of Barre Town; two sons, Gary Sawyer of Underhill, Vt., and Michael Sawyer of Barre Town; two daughters, Debra Sawyer of Portland, Maine, and Donna LaFountain of East Barre, Vt.; four grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Sawyer of Athol, Mass; three sisters, Barbara Fillian of Oakhurst, N.J., Marion Dragon of Haverhill, Vt., and Beverly Cummings of East Pepperell, Mass.
He was predeceased by four brothers; Arthur Sawyer, Archie Sawyer, Ralph Sawyer and Roland Sawyer.
The funeral was held at Barre Congregational Church. The burial took place in Post Mills Cemetery.

Contributions may also be made to the Kennett High School Class of 1947 Scholarship Fund in the name of Clayton Sawyer. Kennett was very dear to Sawyer. He and his wife, Phyllis, would make a trip to visit the school every year.
Bernard L. White
Center Ossipee
Bernard L. White, 74, of Marble Road, died July 28, 2000 at the Mt. View Nursing Home, Ossipee after a long illness. He was native and life long resident of Ossipee, the son of the late Belmont and Grace (Eldridge) White. Bernard had been employed as a laborer for various restaurants in the area and later worked for the E. D. Swett Construction Company. Most recently he had worked for the J. F. Chick & Son Lumber Company, Madison, NH.
Bernard loved to fish and hunt. He was a past member of the Fish & Game Club in Dover, NH.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years Margueritte (Truchon) White, Ossipee, NH four step daughters Patricia Frost, Tamworth, NH, Priscilla Wolf, Andover, NH, Carol Guiotte, Laconia, NH and Frances Hyslop, Ossipee of NH a stepson Leslie Tilton, Conway NH, three brothers Ervin White, Harold White and Norman White all of Center Ossipee, NH, five sisters Beaulah White, Center Ossipee, NH, Winifred Mitchell, Center Ossipee, NH, Barbara Heil, Ossipee, NH, Geraldine Eldridge, West Ossipee, NH, and June Shackford, Center Ossipee, NH, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Rodney A. White of Center Ossipee, NH.
Calling hours will be Tuesday 6-8 PM at the Lord Funeral Home, Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee, NH. A prayer will be held at the Funeral home during calling hours.
