FLORIDA - Aaron M. Smith, 23, died in Florida on April 22, 2000.
He is survived by his mother, Karen Smith of Albany; his father, Alan Bean of Silver Lake; his brother, Jason Brown of Maine; his maternal grandmother, Bernice Bell of Albany; his aunts, Mona Golden of Bath, Maine and Laurie Cunningham of Marshall, Texas; his uncles, Frank Smith of Albany, Austin Smith of Bartlett, Scott Smith of Jackson and Charles Smith of Bartlett and several nieces and nephews

Mary Ellen Charles
A memorial service for Mary Ellen Charles, who died Feb. 10 ,2000, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2000 at the North Chatham Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg, Maine.

Pauline M. Jones
BROWNFIELD, Maine - Pauline M. Jones, 46, died April 25, 2000 at a New Hampshire hospital. She was born Feb. 10, 1954 in Dover-Foxcroft, the daughter of Richard and Beverly (Ulman) Wiggin. She had been an employee of the Big Apple and Bailey's Manufacturing, both of Fryeburg, Maine. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Fryeburg, Maine and a scorekeeper for a woman's softball team in North Conway. She loved to camp, hike and snowmobile and spend time with her dog Nikki. Surviving in addition to her father Richard and his wife, Marlene of Glenburn and her mother, Beverly Wiggin of Dexter are a sister, Patty Spinney of Newport and her children, Jessica and Jonathon. After cremation, a graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 1 at the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth, Maine with the Rev. David bean officiating. Arrangements are by the Thompson Funeral Home, 17 Hudson Road, Corinth, Maine.

Pauline E. Wiesemann
A graveside service for Pauline E. Wiesemann, who died on Jan. 11, 2000, will be held at noon on Monday, May 1, 2000 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Denmark. Arrangements are with the Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg, Maine

Joseph Foster Foley
BARTLETT - Joseph Foster Foley, 82, of Skyline Drive died April 27, 2000 at his home in Intervale.
Born Feb. 15, 1918 in Boston, Mass., the son of the late Bartholemew J. and Genevieve (Foster) Foley.
Mr. Foley owned Foley Construction and was an innkeeper for the family owned Regent House in Intervale for many years.
During WWII he served his country with the United States Air Force. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mountain Church in North Conway and enjoyed world travel.
He is survived by his wife Bernadeen (Jalbert) Foley of Intervale; a step-daughter, Frances Duffy of Kearsarge; two brothers, Edward Foley of Madison and James Foley of Florida; a sister Genevieve Foley of Londonderry, several nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. today at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway.
The Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service of West Ossipee is in charge of the arrangements.

Forest G. Woodward
TAMWORTH - Forest G. Woodward of Tamworth Road, died March 29, 2000 at his home.
Graveside Services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday April 29, at Fowlers Mill Cemetery in Chocorua.

James A. Richardson
CONWAY - James A. Richardson, 75, of Conway died April 25, 2000, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway following a sudden illness.
Born in Conway March 14, 1925, to John and Irma (Allard) Richardson, he moved to Grandview Farm on Tasker Hill Road at age 6 months. Following his marriage to Evelyn, they moved to the house across the street where he had lived all of his life.
Richardson met Evelyn Eastman in 1947 at a youth group in Cornish, Maine, and they were married in September 1949 and celebrated 50 glorious years of marriage last September.
He was a member of the Kezar Falls Assembly of God Church, a board member and a Sunday school teacher. In the 1950s he was one of the founders of the Church Radio Program broadcast on WBNC, and he was a member of Word of Life Christian Fellowship in Concord.
Being a native, he had an opportunity to work for many businesses in the valley, including: The Heel Mill, Yield House, Presidential Inn, CY Library, the town office, Arthur Brown, Carroll Reed, Conway Police Department and Frunzi's Garage. He also owned and operated Richardson's Manufacturing Co. and Graphics with his wife and sons.
He will be greatly missed by his wife and sons, Paul and wife Joan, David and wife Donna, Steven and wife Sharylin, and Philip and wife Linda, all of Conway; grandchildren, Jason, Mark, Elizabeth and husband Patrick, Sarah, Derek, Stephanie, Kendra and Tyler; a brother, Robert and wife Fran of Conway; a sister, Betty, and husband Bob Eastman of Conway; and many family members.
A celebration of his life will be held at the White Mountain Chapel, East Main Street, Conway, on Saturday, April 29, at 4 p.m. There will be no visiting hours.

Margaret (Vittum) Tappan
TAMWORTH - Margaret (Vittum) Tappan, 85, died April 25, 2000, at the Taylor Home in Laconia.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Tamworth, born Dec. 1, 1914, the daughter of Herbert and Alice Clark Vittum. She has been an active member of the South Tamworth Methodist Church since 1935 and served as a trustee. She was the widow of the late Henry R. Tappan.
She is survived by a son, Stephanie Tappan, of New Mexico; two sisters, Mary Gibson, of South Tamworth, and Reba Eldridge, of Center Ossipee; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Merton Vittum.
There will be no calling hours. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 13, at 1 p.m. at the South Tamworth Methodist Church. Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to the South Tamworth Methodist Church, South Tamworth 03883.

Elmer R. Norcross
PORTLAND, Maine - Elmer R. Norcross, 96, died April 25, 2000, at the Baron Center after a long illness. He was born October 15, 1903, in Pomfet, Conn., the son of Arthur and Belle Norcross.
Before moving to Maine in 1988, Mr. Norcross had lived in Tamworth for nearly 40 years. During his long lifetime he was a farmer, carpenter, lumber man, operated many sawmills and an antique collector specializing in antique tools.
In 1984, he was predeceased by his first wife of nearly 60 years, Jennie Dorr. Together they had 13 children, five of whom also predeceased him, Gardiner in 1941, Georgiana in 1948, Alberta Arnold in 1989, Arthur in 1990 and Patricia in 1999.
He is survived by his wife Emma (Peterson) Norcross; three sons, Clarence, Chatham, Mass., Charles, Tamworth, and Peter, Lancaster; five daughters, June Davis, Evansville, Ind., Phyllis Bernier, Bellingham, Mass., Jeanne Hussey, Limington, Maine, Barbara Marsh, Waterboro, Maine, and Paige Gibson, Dover; 31 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; a sister Elsie Ramsdell, Raleigh, N. C.; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be Friday at 1 p.m. in the Hillside Cemetery in Rindge, NH.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Union Hall, South Tamworth.

Susan W. Ellegood
CONWAY - Susan W. Ellegood, 95, of Center Conway, died April 24, 2000, following a long illness.
Born in New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of John and Abigail (Wilcox) Munroe, she lived in Boston, Mass., in the early 1920s and lived in Randolph, Mass., for 20 years before moving to Conway in 1975.
She was the first resident of Appletree Village in Conway.
The family includes a daughter, Corrine Page of Conway; and two grandchildren, Cheryl Page of Center Conway and Richard Page Jr. of Conway.
Her husband, Donald R. Ellegood, predeceased her in 1987.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 1 a.m. at the Conway Village Cemetery with the Rev. Angelo D'Onofrio, rector of the St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, officiating. There will be no visiting hours

Laura M. Gass
CONWAY - A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2000 at the Conway Village Cemetary, Conway to celebrate the life of Laura M. Gass, who died on February 17, 2000. Following the graveside service, friends and relatives are invited to the Gass residence at 123 Eastside Road, Conway, to share refreshments and memories.

Earl L. "Red" Barker
CONWAY - Earl L. "Red" Barker, 72, of Conway, died April 18, 2000, at Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, Tenn., after a sudden illness.
Born in Somerville, Mass., the son of Earl and Evelyn (Sawyer) Barker, he lived in Acton, Mass., and Concord, Mass., before moving to Conway in 1978.
Mr. Barker served with the U.S. Air Force for 28 years and was a veteran of the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was first sergeant of the test squadron at Tyndall Fair Force Base in Panama City, Fla., before retiring in 1978 as a senior master sergeant.
He had been a member of the Air Force Pistol Team, and he was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Church.
The family includes his wife of 47 years, Betty (Prentice) Barker, of Conway; a son, MSGT Steven J. Barker, of D Iberville, Miss.; five daughters, Kelly J. Doyle, of Conway, Pam M. D'Ambrosio, of Concord, Mass., Pat J. Barker, of Fort Myers, Fla., Beth M. Barker, of Conway, and Tracy L. Barker, of North Conway; nine grandchildren; his step-mother, Dorothy Barker, of Orleans, Mass.; a brother, Richard Barker, of Methuen, Mass.; a sister, Janet Vaughan, of Lempster; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Robin Ehrenfeld, in 1981; his step-father, Cecil Rivers, in 2000; and his brother, Robert Barker, in 1987.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated April 25 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway. Visiting hours will be today, Monday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.
