Dr. Robert F. Ficker
Dr. Robert F. Ficker, M.D., 83, of Kennebunk Beach, Maine, died Friday, November 19, 1999 at the Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, Maine.
He was born April 10, 1916 in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Robert V. and Eva A. Kaiser Ficker. He was a graduate of New York University, Bard College in New York, and served his residency at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.
Upon completion of his residency, he entered the U.S. Army and served in England during World War II.
After the war, he returned to Ogdensburg, N.J. and practiced there briefly before moving to Kennebunkport in 1953. Dr. Ficker specialized in family practice. He retired in 1982. He served as medical examiner for many years, continuing even after his retirement. While wintering in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., he volunteered with Medivan, serving underprivileged neighborhoods with free medical services. He also continued to attend meetings and training seminars at Southern Maine Medical Center and in Florida, to maintain his medical license.
He was a member of the American Medical Association; the Maine Medical Association; New York University School of Medicine Alumni Assoc.; National Audubon Society; Laudhohn National Estuarine Reserve in Wells, Maine; the Arundel Lodge 76 Lodge of Masons in Kennebunkport; and the South Congregational Church.
His family includes his wife of 31 years, June Morton Ficker of Kennebunk Beach, Maine; five sons, Peter H. Hill of North Conway, Robert "Kim" Ficker of Fryeburg, William M. Hill of Wells, Maine, Donald B. Ficker of Machiasport, Maine, and Newell M. Ficker of Steamboat Springs. Colo.; and seven grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Charlotte C. "Tod" Ficker, who died in 1967.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the South Congregational Church, Temple St., Kennebunkport, Maine, with the Rev. Charles Whiston officiating.
Arrangements are by Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunkport, Maine.
Rose Grande DiTaranto
Rose Grande DiTaranto, 87, of Fryeburg, died Saturday, November 20, 1999 at Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Bridgton, Maine.
She had formerly lived in Florham Park, N.J., East Hanover, N.J., and Florida prior to moving to Fryeburg six years ago.
He had owned the Cotton Cottage and Rosie's Sandwich Shop in East Hanover, N.J., and Whippany, N.J. She was an avid gardener and dressmaker.
Her family includes her children, Leonard DiTaranto of Sarasota, Fla., Charles DiTaranto of Orange City, Fla., Gerald DiTaranto of Deland, Fla., Frank DiTaranto of Chester, N.J., and Anna Marie Bagley of Fryeburg; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles.
A funeral will be held from the Leonardis Florham Park Memorial Home, 210 Ridgedale Ave., Florham, Park, N.J. on Wednesday at 9 a.m. A service will be held at First Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m., with interment at Hanover Cemetery.
Cynthia L. Chase
Cynthia L. Chase, 45, of Conway died Friday, November 19, 1999 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I., following a long illness. Born in North Conway, the daughter of Clifford and Marion (Smith) Russell, she was a lifelong resident of Conway.
Mrs. Chase graduated from Kennett High School, Class of 1972.
She had worked in the former Conway Cafe in Conway for several years in the early 1970s. She had been a prep cook and cashier at the Kennett Junior Senior High School for the past 11 years.
Cindy was an avid Kennett High School football, field hockey and track fan.
The family includes her husband of 21 years, Lawrence A. Chase of Conway; two daughters, Jessica I Chase and Jenny L. Chase, both of Conway; her mother, Marion L. Russell of West Newfield, Maine, and her brother, Travis J. Russell of Conway.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Conway Village Congregational Church, in Conway, with the Rev. Alfred Gagnon III, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Conway Village Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.

Mary A. Blomquist
Mary A. Blomquist, 74, of Albany, died Saturday, November 20, 1999 at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway. She was born in West Medford, Mass, the daughter of Frank and Catherine (Clark) Foody who came to this country from Ireland in 1921.
Mary has lived at her home in Albany since her husband, Bob, returned from the U.S. Navy 34 years ago.
Mary has traveled to Ireland many times to be with her relatives and investigate her roots.
The family includes four sons, Robert S. Blomquist of Conway, Matthew N. Blomquist of Manchester, Bruce A. Blomquist and Kevin M. Blomquist, both of Conway; three daughters, Lynn B. Knox of Conway, Diane F. Sweeney of Londonderry and Debra A. Lavoie of North Conway; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Driscoll of Syracuse, N.Y., and Joan DiRusso of Maiden, Mass.; a brother, Francis Foody of Natick, Mass., and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her husband, Robert C. Blomquist, died in 1991.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery in Albany. Furber and White Funeral Home, in North Conway, is in charge of arrangements.
Catherine L. Ferber
Catherine L. Ferber, formerly of Mamaroneck, N.Y., died on November 13, 1999.
She was the wife of Donald H. Ferber, Sr. and mother of Linda Balogh, Barbara Ferber and the late Judith Tanski and Donald H. Ferber, Jr. Ferber was grandmother of Carolyn McCarthy, Deborah Kilmot, Gregory Balogh, Sean O'Brien, Rory O'Brien, Tiffany Tanski, Arielle Garrison and Jessica Ferber.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 26 at Church of Our Lady of the Mountains, Main Street, North Conway followed by an internment at Ossipee Corner Cemetery, Route 171, Ossipee.
Donations in her memory to Christopher Reeve Foundation, P.O. Box 277, FDR Station, New York, NY, 10130, would be appreciated.
Norma W. Jones
Norma W. Jones, 65, of Madison, died November 16, 1999 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, following a brief illness. She was born in North Conway, the daughter of Hibbert and Ardis Fales Warner, and moved to Madison in 1956.
Mrs. Jones delivered U.S. Mail between Silver Lake and Snowville for over 30 years. Most recently, Chuch Roast Outlet Store in North Conway employed her. She was a supervisor of the checklist in Madison, for many years.
Her family includes her husband of 44 years, Richard D. Jones of Madison; a son, Michael R. Jones of Nashua; two daughters, Marjorie L. McCauley of Attleboro, Mass.; and Nancy Marie Powers of Rehoboth, Mass; five grandchildren; her mother, Ardis F. Hapgood of Kearsarge; a brother, Frank T. Warner of Ossipee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Margaret Anglican Church, Pleasant St., Conway, with the Rev. Angelo D'Onofrio, rector, officiating. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.

Viola F. Hudson
Viola F. Hudson, 82, of North Conway, died November 14, 1999 at the Merriman House in North Conway. She was born in Salem, Mass., the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Griffin McGee, and lived in New Port Ritchey, Fla., for over 30 years prior to moving to North Conway in 1997.
She attended school in Massachusetts, and loved to travel.
Her family includes a daughter, Geraldine A. Ferguson of Casco, Maine; ten grandchildren, Cynthia McInerney of Conway, Deborah Crotty of North Reading, Mass., Linda O'Neill of Raymond, Maine, Lynn Malbert of Oviedo, Fla., Robyn Akatyszewski of Wakefield, Donald Ferguson of Lynn, Mass., Charles Hudson of Gonic, Raymond Ferguson of Lynn, Mass., and Thomas Ferguson and Timothy Fergurson, both of Billerica, Mass., 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Harold E. Hudson, in 1997, and by a son, Everett C. Hudson, in 1995.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 20, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway. There will be no visiting hours. Donations in Mrs. Hudson's memory may be made to the OLM New Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 189, North Conway, NH 03860.

Myra L. Boothby
Myra L. Boothby, 82, of Portland, Maine, died November 14, 1999 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after many years at Seaside Nursing Home, Portland.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Gerald, and a sister, Ruth Bailey of Harrison, Maine.
She leaves a sister, Marjorie Havener of Waterford, Conn. a brother, Earl Webb of Gardiner, Maine, and a sister, Shirley Munn of Tamworth, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 17 at 1 p.m. in Brooklawn Cemetery, 2002 Congress St., Portland, Maine.
Russell Q. Pecunies
Russell Q. Pecunies, 74, of Ossipee and formerly of Wolfeboro, died Thursday, November 11, 1999 at his home.
He was born July 2, 1925 in Newington, the son of the late Otto and Eleanor Fernald Pecunies, and lived most of his life in Wolfeboro. He moved to Ossipee in 1996 when he married his wife, June Averill Lunt Pecunies.
During World War II, he fought at the Battle of the Bulge with the United States Army as a Sergeant.
Mr. Pecunies attended Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, worked as a milkman for the former Brewster Dairy for over 23 years, owned and operated Russ Pecunies Trucking Service, and worked at the Portsmouth Navy Yard as a marine machinist, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of the Water Village Community Church, a past master of the Morning Star Masonic Lodge in Wolfeboro, and a present member of the Ossipee Valley Masonic Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Bektash Temple, the Samadia Shrine Club 6 Masonic District, the American Legion, the Odd Fellows, and the Whittier Lions Club.
His family includes his wife, of Ossipee; three daughters, Kathy Wintersteen of Somersworth, Nancy Cheyne of Derry, and Tammy Healey of Somersworth; a brother, Vernon Pecunies of Florida; three sisters, Rosamond Burroughs of Milton, Rita Young of California, and Beverly Whitkens of Wolfeboro; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Nov. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home, 85 Mill Street, Wolfeboro. A masonic service will be held during the evening calling hours. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Water Village Community Church, Water Village, Ossipee. Rev. Elmore Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in Grant Hill Cemetery in Center Ossipee.

Ernest H. Boucher
Ernest H. Boucher, 71, of Albany, died Nov. 12, 1999, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway after a long illness.
Born in New Milford, Conn., the son of Albert and Eva (Lavery) Boucher, he moved to the Conway area in 1974.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired machinist and had worked at Spaulding Fiber Optics in Rochester and Maine Machine Company in Norway, Maine. He started his own machine company, Boucher Company, in 1977 and operated it until he retired in 1997. He was an avid fisherman.
The family includes his wife of 50 years, Claire (Simpson) Boucher, of Albany; five daughters, Sandra J. Burch, of Sevierville, Tenn., Laurie C. Sawyer, of New Hampton, Suzanne B. Sawyer, of South Paris, Maine, Jacqueline M. Delclos, of Malta, N.Y., and Lisa J. Pomerleau, of Keene; two sons, Jeffrey E. Boucher and Joseph H. Boucher, both of Center Cownay; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Julie Cuchara, of Southbury, Conn.; of Gertrude Sanders, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Church. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Mountains Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today, Monday, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.
