BROWNFIELD, Maine - Patrick C. Warren, 44, of Pig Street in Brownfield, died unexpectedly March 10, 2001, in Quincy, Mass. He was born July 31, 1956, in Somerville, Mass., a son of Herman C. and Margaret M. Saulnier Warren. Mr. Warren was educated in Cambridge, Mass., schools and graduated from Cambridge High and Latin in 1974. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps, stationed in North Carolina. He worked many years as a sub-contractor hanging drywall. Most recently he worked at Paris Farmers Union of North Conway as a clerk before returning to drywall work for R & B Drywall Company of East Conway. Mr. Warren retired in 2000 due to ill health. He enjoyed motorcycling, lifting weights and listening to music. He also had a great love for his family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them. He was predeceased by one brother, Walter Warren, who died Jan. 1, 1999. Besides his mother of Fryeburg, he is survived by his wife of seven years, Jane M. Richardson Warren; a daughter, Jessica L. Warren of Sandy Hook, Conn.; a sister, Patricia Ivery of Norway, Maine; and four brothers, George Warren, Center Conway, Michael Warren, Fryeburg, Frank Warren, Brownfield, and David Warren, Albany, NY. Visiting hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a funeral service Saturday at 11 a.m., both at Neal and York Funeral Home, 12 High Street, Kezar Falls, Maine. Burial will be in the spring.
HIRAM, Maine - Leon H. Newbegin Sr., 68, of Shotgun Gulch Road, Hiram, Maine, died March 13, 2001, in Center Ossipee at the home of his son Brian.
He was born Dec. 3, 1932, in Hiram, a son of Lottie M. Sargent and William H. Newbegin Sr.
Mr. Newbegin was educated in Hiram schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He drove trucks for Owen Currier Trucking of Fryeburg and for Morgan Linen of Londonderry, retiring in 1979 due to a disability. He was animal control officer in Hiram for many years. He was a member of the Hiram VFW.
Mr. Newbegin enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was predeceased by his son Leon H. Newbegin Jr., who died in 1991.
Survivors include his son Brian Newbegin of Center Ossipee; three daughters, Dian Garrett of Crestview, Fla., Lisa Newbegin of Concord, and Delores Bowen of Crestview, Fla.; three sisters, Ethel Sargent of Cornish, Maine, Emma Sargent of Bridgton, Maine, and Bernice Gothwaithe of Bridgton, Maine; as well as nine grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at Neal and York Funeral Home, 12 High Street, Kezar Falls, Maine. Pastor Barry Judd will officiate. A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in the spring.
WINTERPORT, Maine - Viola Beryl Faulkner, 87, of Boston Road in Winterport, Maine, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at the Brewer Rehabilitation and Living Center.
She was born in Hartford Center, Maine, on Aug. 1, 1913, the daughter of Harry and Eva Allen Dudley, and was educated in South Paris schools. She had lived in the Waterford area for many years and was a member of the Norway and Waterford American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, feeding her birds and was a avid reader of the Bible.
She was predeceased by her husband Jonah H. Faulkner, a son Harry and a daughter Crystal. She is survived by three sons John R. of Orange, Mass., Samuel J. of Appleton, Maine, and Kenneth L. of Hayneville, Ga.; seven daughters, Vivian Bullard of Oxford, Mass., Virginia Grenier of Winterport, Maine, Zillah Karstetter of Pittsfield, Maine, Esther Faulkner of Fryeburg, Ruth Sawyer and Mary Butterfield, both of Farmington Falls, and Susan Kesterson of Ocean Springs, Miss.; two sisters, Ruby Kahkonen of South Paris, Maine and Frantie Giasson of Waterford, Maine; 38 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from the Wood Funeral Home, 12 Warren Street, Fryeburg, with the Rev. Keith Cushman officiating. Spring burial will be in No. 4 Cemetery Lovell.

MIRROR LAKE - Earl Wolcott Hobart died March 6, 2001, at his home on Mirror Lake Drive in Mirror Lake.
He was born Nov. 21, 1915, in Revere, Mass., the son of the late Earl G. and Bertha (Griffith) Hobart.
Mr. Hobart was raised in Reading, Mass. He was a graduate of Reading High School. He served in World War II in the Company H of the 182nd infantry for 37 months in the South Pacific, and then as an instructor in Motor Mechanics at Fort Riley, Kan.
In 1921 his father opened Hobart's Garage which Earl W. Hobart continued to operate upon his discharge from the Army. The business was in existence for over 50 years. In the black-out of 1965, it was one of two stations in eastern New England able to operate because of a private generator. For over 20 years he sponsored the sale of Christmas trees by the Reading Chapter of Demolay.
While residing in Reading and North Reading, Earl was an active member of each Congregational Church. In Reading he was Town Meeting member for 15 years, a member of the Rotary Club, serving as president and then as treasurer for eight years.
He was a member of the Good Samaritan Lodge of Reading, the Reading Commandry, Royal Arch Chapter, Scottish Rite, Appelo Temple and was a charter member of the Simadi Shrine Club as well as the Solomon Island Club.
While in New Hampshire he was an active member and former president of the Meals on Wheels Program. He served as the first president of Friends of Libby and treasurer for six years, a member of the Lay Committee of the Mirror Lake Church and treasurer for 18 years. He was recently named treasurer emeritus by the Lay Committee.
For over 15 years he served as chairman of the Properties Committee for the Huggins Hospital Street Fair. In 1990 Earl and Mary were fair chairmen. In recognition of this, Gov. Judd Gregg presented them with a Volunteer Award in October, 1990.
In 1982 he served on the committee that developed the Power Mechanics Program for the Governor Wentworth Vocational School. He also served on the Tuftonboro Budget Committee for three years.
In 1997 Mr. Hobart was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Wolfeboro Rotary Club.
Mr. Hobart is survived by his wife Mary Krickel (Carrick) of Mirror Lake; his daughter, Julie Shelley Tryder and her husband William M. Tryder III; his grandchildren, Carrick Joy O'Brien and her husband Michael, William M. Tryder IV and Timothy Hobart Tryder.

Memorial services for Mr. Hobart will be held March 17 at 2 p.m. at the Mirror Lake Community Church, Mirror Lake, N.H. Lord Funeral Home, Route 28, Wolfeboro is in charge of arrangements.
LITTLETON - Timothy H. Lloyd, 38, of Partridge Lake Road, passed away at the Littleton Regional Hospital on March 7, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Nov. 25, 2000, in Littleton.
He was born in Littleton, the son of Herbert and Fay (Edson) Lloyd, and he was a lifelong resident of that community. He attended local schools, graduating from the Littleton High School in 1981. He served in the U.S. Air Force and the NH Army National Guard. For the past 15 years, he had been employed as a salesman and most recently store manager for A.D. Sanel Auto Parts in Littleton. He was an ardent outdoorsman and an avid hunter. He loved motorcycling, cars, snowmobiling, antiquing and home remodeling. He was a devoted family man and loyal friend.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Therese (Godbout) Lloyd, a son, Nathan Lloyd, and a daughter, Nicole Lloyd, all of Littleton; his parents, Herb and Fay Lloyd, of Bethlehem; two brothers, Gregory Lloyd, of Watertown, N.Y., and Christopher Lloyd, of Northfield; a sister, Beth Ellen Couture, of Jefferson; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and several cousins.
Friends may call at the Ross Funeral Home, Littleton Chapel, on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church on Main Street in Littleton, and burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.

Marion (Cobb) Alger, North Easton, Mass. resident, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 5, 2001 at the home of her son, Wayne Eldridge. She was 79 with her 80th birthday on March 6, 2001.
She was the wife of the late George B. Eldridge of Brockton, Mass., as well as the wife of the late Alton Alger of North Easton, Mass.
Born and educated in Brockton, Mass., Mrs. Alger was a resident of North Easton, Mass. for the past 36 years. During her working career she was employed at Randy Boat Shoe of Randolph, Mass., former company, and Cape Cod Originals of West Bridgewater, Mass.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Rev. David B. and Virginia Eldridge of Glen and Wyoming, R.I. and Wayne B. and Angelika Eldridge of East Bridgewater, Mass., and was predeceased by another son, Donald B. Eldridge in 1993. She enjoyed her seven grandchildren: Melissa Eldridge, James Eldridge, and Michael Eldridge of East Bridgewater, Mass.; Katherine Eldridge of Boston, Mass.; Susan Eldridge of Glen; Brian Eldridge of Plymouth; and Robin Eldridge of Vermont. Mrs. Alger had one great-grandchild.
She is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth A. Cobb of Wareham, Mass., and a brother, Harold G. Cobb of New Port Richie, Fla.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9 at 12 noon at the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home, 647 Main Street, Brockton, Mass. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
Raymond H. Emery Jr., 76, of Center Conway, died at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester on Thursday, March 1, 2001, after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Massachusetts on Feb. 21, 1925, a son of the late Raymond H. and Abigail (MacAllister) Emery Sr. A resident of Center Conway since 1986, he had previously lived in Nashua and Twin Mountain.
He was the husband of Mary P. (Armstrong) Emery, to whom he had been married for almost 23 years.
After serving two tours of duty in the U.S. Coast Guard, serving on a destroyer, Mr. Emery was employed by the U.S. government civil service and spent the next 26 years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. His position was that of supervisor of the nuclear power department, working with nuclear submarines. As well, Mr. Emery had spent four years working part-time as a special officer for the Newington, Dover, and Portsmouth Police Departments.
Mr. Emery had attended the Episcopal church.
He enjoyed woodworking and doing crossword puzzles. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 46 in Conway.
He was educated in Massachusetts and took numerous college courses at the University of New Hampshire, University of Connecticut, and other colleges.
Mr. Emery was predeceased by four brothers and a sister.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his stepdaughter Paulette Vollheim and her husband, Peter, of Nashua; a grandson, Weston Vollheim of Nashua; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no visiting hours. Funeral services and internment will be held in the Spring at the N.H. State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen. Contributions in his memory may be made to: N. E. Genevieve M. Foley, age 77 of Fox Den North Road, Sandown, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at the Integrated Health Services in Derry.
She was born in Bogota, N.J., the daughter of Bartholomew and Genevieve Foley. She graduated from private school in Englewood, N.J., and went to work for the government Lend Lease Programs in Washington D.C. and New York City during World War II. She also sang at the USO clubs in those cities. After World War II, she helped manage the family hotel called The Regionhouse in Intervale, and worked for the Aero-Icing Research Labs in Bartlett. In more recent years, she managed a radio station in the Manchester area.
She is survived by one daughter, Terry Muessiq of San Jose, Calif., two brothers, James Foley of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Ed Foley of Madison.
A memorial mass will be held at Saint Mark's in Londonderry, and burial service will be conducted later this spring in North Conway. In lieu of flowers or donations, just do a kind deed for a fellow human being in memory of Genevieve.
CONWAY - Letha B. Tweedie, 87, of 1251 White Mountain Highway in North Conway, died March 3, 2001, at Sunbridge Health Care in North Conway after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Tweedie was born on Aug. 24, 1913, in Blaine, Maine, the daughter of the late Clarence and Bernice (Corey) Faulkner. She was married to Andrew N. Tweedie for 55 years until his death in 1986. She moved to Aroostook County to St. Albans, Maine, in 1945. She raised her family of seven children while working a dairy farm with her husband. She was also employed by Irving Training Co., of Hartland, Maine, for many years. She then moved to Glastonbury, Conn., in 1963 with their four children and moved back to Maine in 1969 where they lived in the St. Albans and Canaan area. They finally returned to Aroostook County (Mars Hill) in 1985.
Family members include two sons, Peter (Lauren) Tweedie, of Brownfield, Maine, and Ronald (Kristine) Tweedie, of East Hampton, Conn.; two daughters, Donna (Howard) Wilson of Vasselboro, Maine, and Susanne (Newell) Boutwell, of Windsor Locks, Conn.; 24 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorie Workman, of Robinson, Maine, Margerie Brewer, of Bridgewater, Maine, and Donna Smith, of Mars Hill, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three children, Jacqueline in 1968, Gary in 1971 and William in 1983; three grandsons; one great granddaughter; two brothers, Robert Faulkner and Clarence Faulkner; and two sisters, Marguerite Turner and Winifred Brown.
A graveside service is scheduled for July 3, 2001, at Westfield Cemetery in Westfield, Maine.
The Cremation Society of New Hampshire is in charge of arrangements.
