Percy C. Taylor
Percy C. Taylor, 83, of Freedom, died Sunday, June 6, 1999 at The Memorial Hospital in North Conway.
He was born in Parsonsfield, Maine, the son of Carl and Ruth Wheeler Taylor. He attended schools in Parsonsfield and graduated from Parsonsfield Seminary.
Mr. Taylor served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1980 from the High Meadows Farm in Freedom, where he had worked for the owners, Charles and Patricia Watts, for over 20 years as agricultural manager.
He was a charter member of the Effingham Volunteer Fire Department and had served 16 years as selectman for the town of Effingham, and also had been moderator for town meetings for many years, and served on the Freedom Board of Adjustment. He also was a member of the New Hampshire Agricultural Advisory Board. He was a member of the former grange in Effingham.
Mr. Taylor enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and was a member of the Province Lake Country Club.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Virginia Frazier Taylor, in 1977.
His family includes his wife of 20 years, Lois Nason Taylor; a son, brian Taylor of East Hartford, Conn.; two daughters, Nancy Taylor of East Hartford, Conn. and Lynn Webster of Denver, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Marcia Shackford of Madison; a brother, Earl Taylor of Parsonsfield, Maine; a sister, Inez Stokes of Freedom; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the South Effingham Church. Arrangements are by the York Funeral Chapel, Maple Street, Cornish, Maine.
Robert G. Horne
Robert G. Horne, 59, of Wakefield, died June 5, 1999 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro after a sudden illness. He was born in Rochester, the son of the late Herman J. and Mildred Dow Horne, and had lived in Somersworth where he attended local schools.
In 1961 he moved to West Ossipee, where he and his parents founded the Gitchee Gumee Campground, which he operated until 1971.
During his time in West Ossipee, he also joined the U.S. Army and served from 1962 to 1964. He later worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a Nuclear Rigger, and retired in 1993. After his retirement, he worked part-time with his son, R. Glen Horne Jr. at Lakes Region Aviation in Wolfeboro. Robert was also a member of the Ossipee Valley Lodge 74, F&AM.
His family includes his wife of 35 years, Thurley Perry Horne of Wakefield; two sons, R. Glen Horne Jr. of Center Ossipee and Charles M. Horne of East Wakefield; two daughters, Melanie A. Horne of West Franklin and Jenny Lynn Horne of Sanbornville; five granddaughters; two grandsons; two sisters, Patricia Jackson of Rochester Hill and Pam Marripease of West Franklin; a brother, Peter Horne of Rye; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Lord Funeral Home, Rt. 28 Wolfeboro.
William Ballou
William Ballou, 64, died suddenly at his home in Bangor, Maine on May 7, 1999.
He had lived in Bangor for15 years and had been employed by the Bangor Police Department for 15 years.
His family includes his mother, Bessie Ballou, of Conway; two sons, Brian Ballou of Conway and Kevin Ballou of Concord, and Robert Ballou of London, Ohio; a daughter, Diane Eldridge of Tamworth; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Barry Ballou of Clearwater, Fla.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, June 5 at 10 a.m. in the Conway Village Cemetery, with the Rev. William Stockhaus officiating.
Arrangements are by the Furber and White Funeral Home of North Conway.
Kenneth C. Hart
Kenneth C. Hart, 69, of North Conway, died on June 1, 1999 at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway, following a long illness. He was born in Plainville, Conn., and was the son of Howard and Estelle Caton Hart.
Mr. Hart grew up in Terryville, Conn., and lived in Stafford Springs, Conn., for 39 years prior to moving to North Conway in 1993. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Hart worked as a machine operator with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford, Conn., for 39 years and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and the Ralph W. Shirley American Legion Post 45 in Conway. He was also an avid gardener and carpenter, as well as a fan of the Mount Washington Valley Choral Society.
His family includes his wife of 45 years, Claire Casagrande Hart of North Conway; a daughter, Cheryl M. Hart of North Conway; a son, Steven K. Hart of Manchester, Conn.; two brothers, Judson Hart of Middletown, Conn., and Arthur Hart of San Francisco, Calif.; a sister, Elizabeth King of Middletown, Conn.; two aunts, Ruth Scanlon of Canton, Conn., and Eleanor Caton of Utica, N.Y.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, George H. Hart.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Mountains Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to the North Conway Firefighters Assn., P.O. Box 218, North Conway, NH 03860.
George Dupont Boomer
George Dupont Boomer, 77, of Chocorua and Estero, Fla., died on July 1, 1999 at his home on Fowlers Mill Road. The only son of Lucius Messenger and Jorgine Slettede Boomer, he was born in Boston on October 31, 1921.
He attended Principia in St. Louis, Mo., the Browning School in New York, class of 1938, and Yale University, class of 1942. He left Yale University in mid-year to join Pan American Airways (Africa) for one year, at which time it was the largest airline in the world, with 36 DC-3s in support of the British in the Middle East.
George's father was president and chairman of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York, and George grew up in Waldorf Towers and was known as the "male equivalent of Eloise," a fictional character who lived in the Plaza Hotel. He liked to tell people that he learned how to cook from Oscar of the Waldorf.
When World War II ended, George was a lieutenant of the U.S. Naval Reserve. He then worked for two years for Horace Work, and then joined Hodges International, Inc., an import-export company specializing in textiles. Later, they started to supply parts and machinery to Italian licensees of important American firms, like General Electric, FMC, and Electric Boat.
When George retired in 1992, he was owner and president of Hodges International, Inc., and the company was then sold. Everyone who worked for and with him loved him for his fairness, his kindness, and his unfailing good humor.
He belonged to the Union Club in New York City, and was the oldest charter member of the Stamford Yacht Club. He served on the board of the Sheltering Arms Children's Service, where he was chairman of the board for 12 years.
His family includes his current wife, Nola; a son, John, of Maine; and a daughter, Jorgine, of Manhattan.
He was predeceased by two wives, Joan McMaster and Clarina Scudder.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 7 at Runnells Hall, Rt. 113, Chocorua. Donations in Mr. Boomer's memory, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Chocorua Lake Association and Chocorua Lake Foundation, P.O. Box 105, Chocorua, NH 03817.

Beulah M. Boulter
Beulah M. Boulter, 89, of North Conway, died July 24, 1999 at her home, after a brief illness. She was born in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of Jacob and Susanna Penney Moore. Mrs. Boulter had lived in New Boston for ten years and in Millinocket, Maine for 11 years, prior to moving to North Conway in 1970.
She graduated from Cambridge (Mass.,) Latin School in 1929.
Mrs. Boulter had been a medical secretary at the Lahey Clinic, in Boston, for ten years and worked for five years as a medical secretary to the director of the Concord State Hospital. Before retiring in 1970, she had been a record librarian at the Millinocket (Maine) Regional Hospital, in the medical records department, for ten years.
Her family includes her husband of 58 years, Clarence F. Boulter of North Conway; two sons, Richard A. Boulter of Happy Valley, Ore., and Stephen R. Boulter of Acton, Mass.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the North Conway Cemetery.

Emily M. Brackett
CONWAY - Emily M. Brackett, 91, of North Conway, died July 11, 1999, at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway following a period of failing health.
Born in Easton, Mass., the daughter of Robert and Anna (McIntyre) McKean, she grew up in Tuftonboro and had lived in North Conway for over 65 years.
Mrs. Brackett had been a waitress for many years in North Conway, working first in the former Old Colony Restaurant, then in the former Faye's Restaurant. Before retiring, she worked at the Blueberry Muffin.
The family includes two sons, David E. Brackett, of North Conway, and Scott M. Brackett, of Conway; three grandchildren, Holly Shackford, of Center Conway, Hydie Brackett, of Conway, and Dylan Robertson, of Madison, Wisc.; a great-grandson; and a sister, Bea Cottle, of Concord.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Norman W. Brackett, in 1971, and two sons, George Robertson in 1972 and William N. Brackett in 1968.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the North Conway Cemetery, with the Rev. Jack Haney, rector of Christ Church Episcopal, officiating. There will be no visiting hours.

Craig M. Butler
Craig M. Butler, 47, husband of Deborah M. (Lane) Butler, of Campton, N.H., died unexpectedly on Sunday morning at the Speare Memorial Hospital in Plymouth. Mr. Butler was born in Gloucester on January 14, 1952, son of John F. Butler of Hartford, Conn. and the late Barbara Jean (Anderson) Clough. Mr. Butler had attended Kennett High School in Conway. He was working as an electrician for the Hoyt Management Group in Waterville Valley, N.H. Mr. Butler very much enjoyed the outdoors and skeet shooting. He was also an avid Redskins football fan. Mr. Butler had a wonderful way with children. He was, however, unable to see his step-grandson Andrew who was born on July 8.
In addition to his wife Deborah, his is survived by daughters, Christine, wife of Jason LeBlanc of Goffstown, Cathy and Carrie butler of Phoenix, Ariz.; step-children Angela Trask, Michael Warren and Tony Warren; grandchildren, Patricia and D.J. Green of Goffstown; step-grandson Andrew Trask; his brother, Mark F. Butler of South Windsor, Conn.; step-father Arthur L. Clough and his half brother Dana Kagno of Concord, Mass.
He was pre-deceased by his mother, Barbara Jean Clough, and his first wife, Patricia B. Butler.
His funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the James Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington St., Gloucester, Mass.
The burial will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery, Gloucester, Mass.
Visiting hours will precede the funeral service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Albert. J. Carman
Albert. J. Carman, 88, of Route 302 Glen dies on July 15 at Sunrise Health Care Center in North Conway after a short illness.
Mr. Carman was born to the late Joseph and Mary (Ricchini) Carman on Nov. 20, 1910 in Philadelphia, Pa. He was employed as a tester for turbines at Westinghouse Company in Lester, Pa. throughout most of his working life.
Mr. Carman was pre-deceased by his wife Victoria E. Carman, six sons; Albert Carman, deceased, John Carman, deceased, Robert Carman and William Carman of Marlton, NJ, James Carman of Philadelphia, Pa. and Ronald Carman of Glen; two daughters; Mrs. John (Camille) Rose of Glen and Mrs. Ernset (Victoria) Errigo of Medford, NJ; and three grandsons and one grand daughter.

Memorial services will be held at the Memorial Eucharistic Service on Tuesday, July 20 at 11 a.m. at Christ Episcopal Church on Main and Pine Street, North Conway. Rev. Jack Haney will give the service.
