Bibiane M. Lessard
Bibiane M. Lessard, 67, of Center Ossipee, died June 19, 1999 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon.
She was born December 16, 1931 in Notre Dame des Bois, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of the late Napoleon and Rosa Gibouleau Fontaine. She had lived in the United States since 1951, living in Center Ossipee since 1976, moving there from Berlin.
Mrs. Lessard was a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Center Ossipee.
Her family includes her husband, Philip Lessard of Center Ossipee; three sons, Chris Lessard of Milford, Richard Lessard of Wolfeboro, Mitch Lessard of Madison; three brothers, Paul Fontaine of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Henry Fontaine of Sherbrooke, Canada, and Marcel Fontaine of Notre Dame des Bois, Canada; three sisters, Blanche Thomas of Montreal, Canada, Antoinette Fontaine of Montreal, Canada, and Aurore Dupuis of Sherbrooke, Canada; four grandsons and three granddaughters.
She was predeceased by a son, Dennis Lessard, in 1974.
Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Rt. 16 West Ossipee. A memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Church, Center Ossipee.
Audrey I. Clark
Audrey I. Clark, 59, of Center Conway, died on June 21, 1999 at her home following a short illness. She was born in Wolfeboro and was the daughter of Harry and Wilma Glidden Dow.
Mrs. Clark moved to the Conway area in 1965. She graduated from Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, with the class of 1957.
Her family includes her husband of 35 years, Creighton B. Clark of Center Conway; two daughters, Denise M. Clark of Center Conway and Karen L. Clark of North Conway; and her brother, Richard Dow of Rhode Island.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Center Conway Cemetery, with Pastor Nelson Houston officiating. There will be no visiting hours. Friends and relatives are invited to the Clark home, on Burbank Road in Center Conway, following the service. Arrangements are by the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.
Ellsworth M Blake
Ellsworth M. Blake, 89, of Fryeburg, Maine, died on Sunday, June 20, 1999 at The Memorial Hospital in North Conway. He was born in West Warwick, R.I., the son of Ernest and Edith Lindall Blake, and was educated in Rhode Island schools.
Mr. Blake lived in Brownfield, Maine from 1937-1994, at which time he moved to Fryeburg. He worked as a carpenter, woodsman, farmer, ran a sawmill and was known as a jack of all trades.
His family includes a son, Glenn Blake of Brownfield; two daughters, Beverly Perkins of East Fryeburg and Virginia Blake of Daleville, Alabama; a brother, Homer Blake of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; four sisters, Phyllis Morton, and Hilda Padula of West Warwick, R.I., Ruth Poncelet of East Greenwich, R.I. and Norma Hill of Coventry, R.I.; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Arlene M. Blake, in 1997.
At Ellsworth's request, there will be no service. Arrangements are by the Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.
Joan Lee Day
Joan Lee Day, 52, of Fryeburg, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999 at The Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine, following a five year battle with cancer. She was born in Portland, Maine, the daughter of Harry and Marguerite Finneault Huntress, and graduated from Fryeburg Academy, class of 1964.
She worked for ten years for Northland Shoe Company, and was also co-owner of Mainly Automotive in Fryeburg. She was a former member of the Fryeburg Fire Department Auxiliary. She enjoyed hunting, and racing and street rods.
Her family includes her husband of 34 years, Lee C. Day; a son, Corey Day; and a daughter, Kelly Day, all of Fryeburg; a brother, Ronald Huntress of Pawtucket, R.I.; two sisters, Jean Burnell of East Conway and Roberta Huntress of Fryeburg.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg, Maine. Donations may be made in memory of Joan to the Fryeburg Fire Department. Arrangements are by Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.
Lyman E. Pevey Sr.
Lyman E. Pevey Sr., 89, formerly of Ossipee and Chelmsford, Mass., died June 16, 1999 at York Hospital in York, Maine.
He was born December 1, 1909 in Lowell, Mass., the son of the late John and Susan Richardson Pevey. He graduated from Chemsford High School and attended art school in Boston.
Mr. Pevey retired in 1970 as vice president of Wright Trucking Co. in Lowell. He was a Mason, initially affiliated with William Sewall Gardner Lodge in Lowell, and recently the Unity Lodge in Union.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and painting landscapes, flowers, ships and local scenes.
His family includes his wife of 66 years, Ruth M. Carlsen Pevey of York, Maine; a son, Lyman E. Pevey Jr. of Gaithersburg, Md.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 31 at the Second Congregational Church in Ossipee. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Danvers, Mass.
Donations in Mr. Pevey's memory, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Caregivers, First Congregational Church of Wolfeboro, P.O. Box 913, Wolfeboro, NH 03894.

Winifred Cecelia Danforth
Winifred Cecelia Danforth, 72, of Orono, Maine, died June 2, 1999 of Alzheimer's Disease and breast cancer at Sedgewood Commons, Falmouth, Maine. She was born in Orono on March 6, 1927, the daughter of Enoch and Cecelia Doucette Lounsbury.
Winnie was employed as a teller of the Merrill Bank in Orono for many years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Orono, a member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Her family includes a daughter, Lynn Marie Borgeson of Bartlett; a son, Lawrence Edwin Danforth of Honolulu, Hawaii; two sisters, Jane Sternburg of Rockland, Maine, Gloria Gray of Orono; three brothers, Merle Lounsbury of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard E. Danforth, and by a sister, Eleanor Leveille.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on June 7 at St. Mary's Church, Orono, Maine, with the Rev. Joseph Koury, pastor, officiating. Grace M. Anderson
Grace M. Anderson, 98, of North Conway, died Sunday, June 13, 1999 at the SunRise Health Care Center in North Conway. She was born in Cambridge, Mass., the daughter of James and Ada Binns Judd. She grew up in Malden, Mass., and graduated from Malden High School.
From 1950 to 1998 she lived in Hamilton, Mass., where she was a member of the Hamilton Congregational Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking for large crowds.
Her family includes a son, Richard L. Anderson of Chatham; three grandchildren, Steven Anderson of Fryeburg, Susan Burton of Topsfield, Mass., Sandra Burns of Essex, Mass.; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Anderson, in 1956.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, from the Hamilton Congregational Church.

John Henry Kolln
John Henry Kolln, of Bradenton, Fla., and North Conway, died May 7, 1999 after a long illness. He was in his early 80s. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Ernst and Lena Kolln.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and saw action in the Pacific Theater.
After leaving the employment of J.P. Morgan and the church pension fund, Mr. Kolln moved to North Conway in the early 1950s, where he worked at Carroll Reed's, and managed the old Rosenbloom store. He later purchased the Carter store and rechristened it Robbins and Kolln, to include "Grandma" Robbins, who ran the knitting and yarn department. He and his first wife, Florence Rudd Kolln, operated Robbins and Kolln for 25 years before retiring to Florida. The store was aptly named "The Country Department Store" and was considered one of the outstanding clothing stores in the region.
He was active in community affairs and was responsible for the beginning of the now well-known Rotary Radio Auction. He was a member of the Eastern Slope Ski Club and Hannes Schneider offered to give him ski lessons, but not being a skier, he declined. He and Wendell Lees and Joe Dodge were timers at many ski races, and he always said he was the only one to ride down instead of up on the Skimobile. Noted for his wit and good humor, he was called upon as a speaker for many years after selling his store.
He is survived by his wife, Mabel Tschol Kolln.
A memorial service will be scheduled for later this summer.
Anna Louise Gambell Knowles
Anna Louise Gambell Knowles, 88, of Center Ossipee, died on June 8, 1999 at her home. She was born April 29, 1911 in Dorchester, Mass., and lived in the greater Boston area for many years before moving to Ossipee in 1942.
Mrs. Knowles had worked at Sunny Villa Restaurant in Ossipee for many years. She also served as vice president of the Ossipee PTA and was a member of the First Congregational Church in Center Ossipee.
Her family includes two sons, Robert W. Knowles of Center Ossipee and George E. Knowles of Freedom; a daughter, Edna M. Knowles of Freedom; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Edna Inclenrock, Ind.; three brothers, John Gambell of Abbington, Mass., James Gambell of Stoughton, Mass., and Robert Gambell of Avon, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Winslow Knowles.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home, Center Ossipee. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, Center Ossipee, with burial in the Chickville Cemetery in Center Ossipee.

Fletcher Crandall
Fletcher Crandall, 76, of Englewood, Fla., died Sunday, June 6, 1999 at Englewood Community Hospital.
He was born March 6, 1923 in Groton, Mass., to Frank and Doris Fletcher Crandall, and had been a resident of Englewood for six years, moving here from Kearsarge. He was formerly of Marblehead, Mass.
Mr. Crandall graduated from Pennsylvania Military College in 1946 with his engineering degree. He was employed by Koch Engineering Company in Wichita, Kan., and retired in 1992. He was a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers since 1948 and the Plastic Pioneers of America.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Crandall was a member of the Unitarian faith.
His family includes three daughters, Cheryl Gannett of Marblehead, Mass., Candace Crandall of Conway, and Kim Maxwell of Marblehead, Mass.; two sons, Fletcher W. Crandall of Lynnfield, Mass., and J. Taylor Crandall of Woodside, Calif.; a sister, Prudence Randall of Danvers, Mass.; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Kearsarge. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by Englewood Community Funeral Home, Englewood, Calif.
Rose J. Feltch
Rose J. Feltch, 72, of Center Conway, died on June 7, 1999 at the Clipper Home in North Conway, following a long illness. She was born in South Boston, the daughter of Joseph and Ethel Grafton McPhee.
Mrs. Feltch was raised in Boston and graduated from Charlestown High School with the class of 1944. She was a long-time employee of the City of Medford, Mass., where she was employed in the auditor's office. Following her retirement, she and her husband moved to Center Conway in 1992.
Rose was an active member of the Gardening Committee at Saco Woods and enjoyed playing military whist with friends. She was a former member of Zonta, Catholic Daughters, and the Conway AARP. In her younger years, she helped raise funds for Rheumatoid Arthritis research, a disease which she endured for 40 years.
Her family includes her husband of 51 years, Chester W. Feltch of Center Conway; a daughter, Cynthia A. Feltch of Bartlett; a son, William S. Feltch of Weymouth, Mass; a sister, Eleanor Coleman of Rockland, Mass.; a granddaughter, Lauren B. Feltch of North Reading, Mass.; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.
Memorial masses will be held at St. Augustin's Catholic Church in South Boston on Friday, June 11 at 9 a.m. and on Friday, June 18 at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in North Conway at 10 a.m. Donations in Mrs. Feltch's memory may be made to the American Arthritis Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
