Susan Emily English-Maloney
Susan Emily English-Maloney, 49, of Jackson, died on April 21, 1999 at the Merriman House in North Conway, following a long illness. She was born in Melrose, Mass. on February 18, 1950, and was the daughter of Lewis and Constance Whitcomb English.
Ms. English-Maloney attended Melrose, Mass and Westford, Mass. schools. She graduated from Westford Academy, and earned degrees from Colby Junior College and Brown University. She resided in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Washington, Arizona, Nevada, and most recently, New Hampshire. She was active in the community, in artistic, equestrian, environmental, nature, and other outdoor pursuits. She most recently managed the Jackson House Bed and Breakfast with Peter Hill.
Her family includes four children, Molley Maloney of Washington, D.C., Brandy Maloney and Timothy Maloney, both of Coalinga, Calif., and Lauren O'Connell of North Conway; her mother, Constance English of Westford, Mass.; a brother, Andrew English of Chelmsford, Mass.; and a sister, Betsey Hodge of West Haven, Conn.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Jackson Community Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Donald Graves officiating. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.
Phyllis A. Henry
Phyllis A. Henry, 84, of Bartlett, died on April 20, 1999 at her home, following a long illness. She was born in Union, and was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Tuttle Colbert.
Mrs. Henry lived in North Conway for over 50 years before moving to Bartlett in 1972. She was a cook at Nereledge Inn and The Farm on West Side Road, and worked at the Carriage Inn. She was also a charter member of the North Conway American Legion Post 95 Ladies Auxiliary.
Her family includes two sons, Frederick A. Henry of Jackson and Roderick Henry of Redstone; three grandsons, Jay Henry of Jackson and Chip Henry and Neil Henry, both of Redstone; a sister, Betty C. Cardinal of North Conway; a brother, James Colbert of Reading, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur E. Henry, in 1985.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bartlett Village Cemetery in Bartlett. There will be no visiting hours. Donations may be sent to the Bartlett-Jackson Ambulance Service, P.O. Box 422, Glen, NH 03838. Arrangements are by the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway.
Philip L. Perry
Philip L. Perry, 83, of Conway, died on April 20, 1999 at the Merriman House in North Conway, following a long illness. He was born in Alton, and was the son of Phelon and Maude Jewett Perry.
Mr. Perry grew up in Haverhill and Piermont, and had lived in Conway since 1945. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Okinawa. He worked for Gordon Burke & Sons in North Conway, C. Profenno and Company of Portland, Maine, and was a retired carpenter. Mr. Perry was also a 51-year member of the Ralph W. Shirley Post 46 of the American Legion, and a member of the Carroll County Fish, Game and Shooting Club, and the Haverhill Historical Society.
His family includes a son, Alvin Perry of Conway; three daughters, Lorraine Hackett, Judith Maxfield, and Karen Perry, all of Conway; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Merrill Perry, in 1993; and a son, Kenneth Perry, in 1990.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home in North Conway, with the Rev. Sean Dunker-Bendigo officiating. Burial will be in the Ladd Street Cemetery, in Haverhill, New Hampshire, at 1 p.m. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. also at the funeral home. William P. Lemerise
William P. Lemerise, 74, of Gorham, died Thursday, April 15, 1999 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin. He was born in Berlin on August 17, 1924, the son of William E. and Marnie King Lemerise, and had lived in Berlin until 1981 when he moved to Fryeburg, Maine. He resided in Fryeburg until June, 1998 when he moved to Gorham.
Mr. Lemerise was a graduate of Berlin High School, class of 1941, and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a member of White Mountain VFW Post 2520 in Berlin, and was an avid gardener.
Prior to his retirement in 1993 he was employed as a salesman for North Country Wholesale in North Conway.
His family includes his wife, Claire Boucher Lemerise of Gorham; a son, William T. Lemerise of Gorham; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Lemerise of Bowling Green, Kentucky; three sisters, Edna Durdan, Louise Callahan and Jeanne Jackson, all of South Portland, Maine; a foster daughter, Vandai Diem Vo and her children, Minh Vo and Tamdan Vo, all of Rockville, Md.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday morning, April 24, at 11 a.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade Street, Gorham. Interment will be in the Holy Family Cemetery in Gorham.

Rev. C. Weston Jones
Rev. C. Weston Jones, 82, of Bedford, Mass. died April 17, 1999, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.
He was born in Durham, Maine, the son of Charles and Laura Little Jones. He graduated from Lisbon Falls High School and from Eastern Nazarene College in Quincy, Mass. He lived in Fryeburg for 39 years and was pastor in Fryeburg Harbor, Hiram, Denmark, Brownfield, Conway and Center Conway. He moved from Fryeburg to Hamilton, Mass., and had lived in New Bedford for the past 11 years.
His family includes his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Hall Jones, of New Bedford; six sons, F. Woodman Jones, of Portland, Maine, Wendall H. Jones, of Bogota, Colombia, Winston C. Jones and J. Wesley Jones, both of Boston, C. Weldon Jones, of Arden Hill, Minn., and Webster N. Jones, of Fryeburg; two daughters, Barbara Crowley, of Quincy, Mass., and Brenda Shepherd, of New Bedford, Mass.; four brothers, Harold Jones, of Raymond, Maine, Laurel Jones, of Venice, Fla., Irving Jones, of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Floyd Jones, of Troy, Mich.; one sister, Winnifred Moore, of Lewiston; several grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at the Bradley Memorial Methodist Church in Fryeburg Harbor. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, North Fryeburg.

Irving T. Chandler
Irving T. Chandler, 75, Fryeburg, died April 16, 1999, at the Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Bridgton.
He was born in Sweden, the son of Leslie and Addie Littlefield Chandler, and he was educated in Sweden and Lovell schools. He was a World War II Army veteran. He lived in Lovell most of his life, moving to Fryeburg five years ago.
Mr. Chandler worked as a woodsman for Thompson Saw Mill, C.N. Brown Lumber Co. He was caretaker for Richard King III and did carpentry work with Azel Littlefield.
He was a member of Delta Lodge of Masons 153; past commander of Fryeburg-Lovell VFW Post 6783; past president of Kezar Lake Sportsman Club; a member of the Lovell Fire Department and Fryeburg Rescue. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and was an avid golfer.
His family includes his wife of 49 years, Phyllis Walker Chandler, of Fryeburg; one son, Stephen Chandler, of South Portland; two daughters, Kathleen Adams and Deborah Jones, both of East Stoneham, Maine; four sisters, Doris Hatch and Betty Hilton, both of Bridgton, Maine, and Joan Andrews and Beulah Holden, both of Harrison, Maine; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Norma Louise and Paula Irene; one brother, Robert; and three sisters, Nora Ridlon, Julia Rolfe and Hilda Cannell.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Fryeburg-Lovell VFW Hall in Lovell, with the Rev. Neil Wilson officiating.

Robert L. Spaulding
Robert L. Spaulding, 65, of Freedom and formerly of Medford, Mass., died Wednesday, April 14, 1999. He was the son of Dorothy Meason Spaulding and the late Edward Spaulding.
A graduate of Medford, Mass. High School, Mr. Spaulding had been owner and operator of the Spaulding Gas and Shop Store in Freedom, former owner of the Spaulding Construction Company in Freedom, served as assistant manager of the Purity Spring Resort in Madison, was employed for a time as a management trainer at the Nichols-McCard Corp. in Bedford, Mass. and and was most recently employed by Down East Seafood in Wolfeboro.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving from 1955 to 1958. He was treasurer of the Freedom Conservation Commission; Freedom area director for the U.S. Census Bureau; former supervising proctor for the Educational Testing Service, and a former volunteer fireman in Freedom.
Along with his mother, of Medford, Mass., his family includes brothers Donald E. Spaulding of Central, Utah and Richard M. Spaulding of Brighton, Colorado; a sister, Jeanne Grant of Wilmingtonm Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held from the A.J. Breslin & Son Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, Mass. (at the Medford line) on Monday, April 19 at 9:15 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Medford at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, West Peabody.

Hazel M. Leonard
Hazel M. Leonard, 89, of Fryeburg, died Thursday, April 15, 1999 at the Fryeburg Health Care Center. She was born in Franklin, New Hampshire, the daughter of Perley and Cora Bell Keyser Marshall.
She grew up in Potter Place, N.H. and was a graduate of Proctor Academy and Palmer's School of Beauty in Franklin. In 1950 Mrs. Leonard moved to Fryeburg, and with her husband ran Aladdin's Lamp Antique Shop.
Her family includes two daughter, Patricia Chick of Melbourne, Florida and Jacqueline Morgan of Standish, Maine; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Chester Leonard, in 1985.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 21 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Fryeburg, with the Rev. Violet Eastman officiating.

William T. Lindley
William T. Lindley, 87, of Center Ossipee, died April 14, 1999 at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro. He was born in Ridgefield, New Jersey, where he lived for many years before moving to Ossipee in 1956. He owned and operated Pine Cove Motel in Ossipee until his retirement in 1977.
Mr. Lindley was U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Ossipee Rotary Club, as well as the Rodney White Memorial VFW Post 8270, Center Ossipee, and a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Center Ossipee.
Bill loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
His family includes his wife, June Holbrook-Palmer Lindley of Center Ossipee; a daughter, Marie Reizer of Silver Lake; a granddaughter, Kimberly Reizer of Silver Lake; a brother, Herbert Lindley of Rochelle Park, New Jersey; and a sister, Catherine Ettell of Bayville, New Jersey.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Louise Lauber Lindley, and by a son, William E. Lindley.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at noon at St. Joseph's Church, Center Ossipee. Burial will be in the Ossipee Cemetery.

Richard J. Goff, Sr.
Richard J. Goff, Sr., 83, of Fryeburg, Maine, died Wednesday, April 14, 1999 at the Mercy Hospital in Portland. He was born in Centredale, Rhode Island, the son of Richard P. and Kathleen Travers Goff.
He graduated from LaSalle Academy in Providence, R.I., and then served a peace-time tour in the United States Army. He came to Fryeburg in 1937 and for over 20 years was sales manager for Gates Rubber Co. He later served as Fryeburg Town Clerk and Tax Collector for several years.
He was a member of the Fryeburg New Church and Pythagorean Lodge of Masons.
Since 1977 he spent winters in Zephyrhills, Florida.
His family includes his wife of 61 years, Audrey Snow Goff of Fryeburg; a son, Richard J. Goff, Jr. of Freedom; two sisters, Shirley Maine of Warwick, R.I. and Mary Ristaino of Easton, Md.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Wood Funeral Home in Fryeburg. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Fryeburg New Church. Donations in Mr. Goff's memory may be made to the New Church Elevator Fund, 4 Oxford St., Fryeburg, ME 04037.
