Debra Jayne Hill Botting
Debra Jayne Hill Botting, 45, of West Fryeburg, died Sunday, October 10, 1999 as a result of an automobile crash. She was born in Portland, Maine, and grew up in Fryeburg, the daughter of James and Fernie Record Hill. She graduated from Fryeburg Academy, class of 1973.
For the past two years she worked in the housekeeping department at the Attitash Mountain Village in Bartlett.
Besides her parents, of West Fryeburg, her family includes her husband, Wayne Botting; a son, James C. Botting of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Janelle L. Botting of West Fryeburg; a stepson, Steve Botting, of Florida; a stepdaughter, Carla Botting of Conway; her mother-in-law, Ardis Bean of Conway; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 16 at Riverside Cemetery in North Fryeburg, with the Rev. Marvin Milbury officiating.

Evelyn L. Sperry
Evelyn L. Sperry, of Bethel, Conn., and formerly of Brownfield, Maine, died March 25, 1999 at Glen Hill Nursing Home in Danbury, Conn.
She was born January 7, 1918 in New Gloucester, Maine, the daughter of Fred and Alice Conley. She was the wife of Norman B. Sperry, to whom she was married for 62 years.
Family members include two sons, Norman A. Sperry of Chesnee, S.C., and Jerald Sperry of Brookfield, Conn; a daughter, Alice M. Sobel of New Milford, Conn.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Norma Mills and Eleanor Wenzel, both of Brownfield, Maine.
A memorial service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, Brownfield, Maine, on Saturday, October 16 at 5 p.m.
Marilyn Jean Pingree
Marilyn Jean Pingree, 62, of Denmark, Maine, died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at the Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Bridgton, Maine. She was born in Westbrook, Maine, the daughter of George and Mary Allen Record.
She graduated from Westbrook High School and attended college for one year. She married Edmund P. Pingree 43 years ago, and moved to Denmark. For the past 33 years, she worked for the town of Denmark: tax collector, board of appeals, selectmen (where she was past chair), deputy clerk, deputy administrative assistant, and finally administrative assistant.
She was a member of the Denmark Congregational Church and served as deacon for many years. She was past matron of St. Moriah O.E.S., active with the Denmark Public Library, and was past chair of the board of directors; she was past treasurer of the Denmark Boy Scouts.
Besides her husband, her family includes her mother, of Cumberland, Maine; a son, Robert C. Pingree of Denmark; two daughters, Lee Ann Shand of Denmark, and Pamela Hale of Fryeburg; three brothers, Richard Record of Portland, Maine, George Record of Scarborough, Maine, and Charles Record of Casco, Maine; a sister, Evelyn "Mitzi" Duff of Cumberland, Maine; a special aunt and uncle, Ermelene and Fred Alexander; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Denmark Town Hall, with the Rev. Gregory Young officiating. Donations in Mrs. Pingree's memory may be made to the Denmark Town Hall, "For the purpose of a new town sign." Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.
Eleanor Stankard Pyne
Eleanor Stankard Pyne, 86, of North Scituate, Mass., died suddenly on October 4, 1999.
She was born in Belmont, Mass., and was a graduate of Emmanuel College, Boston, class of 1934. She had resided in North Scituate for 40 years.
Her family includes her children, Nancy Barry of North Conway, Rich Pyne of Scituate, Mass., John J. Pyne of Scituate, Mass., Peppy Horley of Scituate, Mass. and Ted Pyne.
She was predeceased by her husband, E. Wallace Pyne.
A funeral mass will be held Friday, October 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis X. Cabrini Church, Hood Road, Scituate, Mass. Visiting hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Virginia G. "Ginny" Promise
Virginia G. "Ginny" Promise, 72, of Fryeburg Harbor, Maine, died Sunday, October 3, 1999 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She was born in Fryeburg on June 28, 1927, the daughter of the late Corey and M. Evelyn Emery Wales, and graduated from Fryeburg Academy, class of 1945.
For many years she and her first husband, George Griffin, who died in 1984, ran a logging and trucking business. From 1983-1991 she worked for the Green Granite Motel. She was a life-long member of the Bradley Memorial Methodist Church and was secretary for the board of trustees and the United Methodist Women. She was active with the Fryeburg/Lovell VFW Auxiliary.
Her family includes her husband of ten years, George Promise; a daughter, Kathleen Griffin Cossette, both of Fryeburg Harbor; a brother, Rodney Wales of Fryeburg Harbor; two sisters, H. Louise Morse of Bridgton, Maine and Lorraine Kneland of Adamsville, R.I.; two grandchildren; and four stepchildren.
She was also predeceased by a daughter, Rosalie, and a sister, Elsie Griffin.
Visiting hours will be from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Wood Funeral Home in Fryeburg. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bradley Memorial Methodist Church at Fryeburg Harbor, with the Rev. Richard Male officiating. Burial will be in the Bemis Cemetery, Fryeburg Harbor.
