Michael J. Smilikis
Michael J. Smilikis, 60, of Hudson, died Wednesday, November 23at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.
He was born May 1, 1945, in Nashua, son of the late Alphonse and Amelia (Balukavich) Smilikis.
Mr. Smilikis was the husband of JoAnn (Faucher) Smilikis of Hudson.
Mr. Smilikis was an antique car and hot rod enthusiast. He was a member of the Carbon Scrapers in Hudson. He was the proud owner of a 1937 Ford two-door sedan, which he owned since high school. Mr. Smilikis drove this car in many parades for Old Home Days in Hudson. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy. He also loved animals.
Besides his loving wife, JoAnn, survivors include one son, James Smilikis, and his significant other, Shaunae Nolet, both of Hudson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer and Ben Nadeau and Michelle Smilikis, all of Hudson; two brothers- and sisters-in-law, Peter and Sue Smilikis of Nashua and William and Pat Smilikis of Hudson. A brother-in-law, Robert Faucher of Hudson; three sisters-in-law, Linda Bernier of Hudson, Rita Royce of Vermont, and LuAnn Albert of Virginia; two grandchildren, Amanda “Amandy” Girouard-Nadeau and Cassie Jo Girouard-Nadeau, both of Hudson; his dear dog, Kellie Ann, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services were held in St. John the Evangelist Church with burial in Holy Cross cemetery, both in Hudson. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.
James H. Rice
James H. Rice of Hudson, New Hampshire, died early Thursday evening November 17 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 79.
Born on October 26, 1926, in Kentville, Nova Scotia, Mr. Rice was a resident of West Peabody for over 20 years and Winthrop for 10 years before moving to Hudson two years ago.
Mr. Rice served as a radio gunner in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II.
A graduate of Acadia University in Nova Scotia, Mr. Rice was employed as a salesman with U.S. Foods, now Sara Lee Food Products.
In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his grandchildren, sharing his heritage with others, and playing golf and semi-professional hockey. Most of all, his family will remember him for being a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Beloved son of the late Clifford and Gladys (Kennedy) Rice, father of the late Patricia Rice, and brother of the late JoAnn Radford.
He is survived by his loving wife, Martha E. "Kass" (Kascak) Rice; his daughter Teresa Caminiti and her husband James of West Newton; his sons Clifford Rice and his wife Heather of Derry, New Hampshire; and James M. Rice of Henderson, Nevada; his sisters Sister Betty Lou Rice and Doreen Cleveland; and his brother Gerald Rice, all of Nova Scotia.
Loving grandfather of Michael and Matthew Caminiti, Lee, Wade, and Cassandra Rice.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Paul Fournier
Paul “Pepe” Fournier, 78, of Hudson, died Thursday, November 17 at his residence.
He was born June 27, 1927, in Norwich, Connecticut, son of the late Pierre and Edna (Bergeron) Fournier.
Mr. Fournier was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Shea) Fournier in 1999, as well as a daughter, Paula Dufresne in 1987.
He was also predeceased by six brothers and one sister.
Mr. Fournier worked for over 30 years at Raytheon in Bedford, Massachusetts.
For many years he was an assistant coach with various Pop Warner, Little League, and recreational basketball teams.
He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren who were his pride and joy.
Survivors include one son and a daughter-in-law, Len and Judith Fournier of Hudson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pattye and Arthur Franz of Boxborough, Massachusetts; and Lauren and Steven Erickson of Hudson. One brother and a sister-in-law, Louis and Phyllis Fournier of Lowell, Massachusetts. Four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Gertrude Defero of Lawrence, Massachusetts; Lorraine and Carl Martin of Maine, Rose Lyons of Hudson; and Edna and John Mullen of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts. Also 10 grandchildren, Robert Dufresne of Hudson, Jessica Dufresne of Stratford, Connecticut; Paul Fournier III, Patrick Fournier, and Susan Fournier, all of Hudson; Nathan Franz, Hayley Franz, and Hannah Franz, all of Boxborough; Danika Erickson and Jace Erickson, both of Hudson. As well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass was held in St. John the Evangelist Church with burial in St. Patrick cemetery.

Mabel “Mickey” Courounis
Mabel "Mickey" Courounis, 69, of B Street, Hudson, died peacefully on Thursday, November 10 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
Born May 23, 1936, in Nashua, she was the daughter of the late Hanore Napoleon Landry and Laura Elizabeth (Smith) Landry.
She is predeceased by her husband, William Courounis, who died on October 19, 2003.
Mrs. Courounis was a former member of' the Arlington Street United Methodist Church in Nashua.
She was an employee at the former Sanders Lockheed Corporation (now BAE) in Nashua for over 25 years.
Mickey enjoyed playing cards, trips to the beach, and shopping with her sisters.
She was an avid softball fan and loved family gatherings.
Her former coworkers will remember the times after work, lunches, and dinners.
Mickey will greatly be missed by her dog, Grumpy.
She is survived by three sons and their wives, Howard and Laurie Ives of Hudson, James and Cheryl Courounis of Pelham, and Chris Courounis of Hudson.
She is also survived by many siblings and their spouses, Leonard Landry of Nashua, Richard (Porky) Landry of Nashua, Bruce and Lousie Landry of Summerfield, Florida; Shirley (Landry) Baker of Ashland; Paul and Pauline (Landry) Desclos of Hampton, Virginia, Robert and Nancy (Landry) Hunt of Wilton, New Hampshire; Gloria (Landry) Berube of Nashua; and Dennis and Laura (Landry) Juonis also of Nashua.
Mickey also leaves behind four special grandchildren, Dianne and Laurie Courounis of Pelham, and Katelyn and Gregory Ives of Hudson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Raymond C. Taylor
Raymond C. Taylor, 87, of Hudson, New Hampshire, died Friday, October 21, 2005, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Taylor was born August 20, 1918, in Lowell, Massachusetts, son of the late Charles and Katherine (Nagle) Taylor.
He was also predeceased by a brother, Donald Taylor.
He was the husband of Dorothy (Boyle) Taylor of Hudson, with whom he would have celebrated his 59th wedding anniversary in February.
Mr. Taylor received a certificate degree in the 1950s from Lowell Tech.
He was employed by Massachusetts Mohair Plush, Co. as a production manager.
He was also employed by Pratt-Whitney in East Hartford, Connecticut as a machinist.
Mr. Taylor also worked as a machinist for many years at Scully Signal in Wilmington, Massachusetts, prior to his retirement in 1984.
Mr. Taylor enjoyed working with his hands and reading, as well as watching boxing and wrestling on TV. He was also very keen on jujitsu.
His greatest love was spending time with and entertaining his grandchildren.
Mr. Taylor was a WWII veteran, having served in the Army Air Corp.
Besides his loving wife, survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law, David and Suzanne Taylor of Pittsfield, Maine; Edward and Nayna Taylor of Charlotte, North Carolina; Richard and Evangeline Taylor of Hampton, New Hampshire. Two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen and Edward Nagle of Hudso, n and Eileen Taylor of Hudson. Seven grandchildren, Kevin Taylor and Shane Taylor, both of Pittsfield, Maine; Steven Nagle, Angela Donahue, Mark Nagle, Raymond Gendreau, and Rachel Gendreau, all of Hudson. Five great grandchildren, Michael Taylor and Randy Taylor, both of Pittsfield, Maine; Samantha Sousa of Lowell, Massachusetts; Kaylie Donahue and Shannon Nagle, both of Hudson.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church on Tuesday with burial in St. Patrick cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations in Ray’s loving memory to Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054. The Dumont-Sullivan Funeral Home in Hudson was in charge of arrangements.
Paul R. Arshalian
Paul R. Arshalian, 62, of Rose Drive, Hudson, died unexpectedly Saturday, October 15 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, Nashua.
Mr. Arshalian was born in Boston, Massachusetts, July 30, 1943, and was the son of the late Richard and Edith (D’Orsay) Arshalian.
He was an Army veteran.
Before his disability he had been employed at Andover Control in Andover, Massachusetts.
He enjoyed gardening and loved his dog Ben.
Survivors include his wife Jane (Waters) Arshalian of Hudson; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Joan Arshalian of Nashua; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and John Mangano of Dumbarton, New Hampshire; and a sister, Joan Hoey of Mansfield, Massachusetts. Also several nieces and great nieces and great nephews.

Archie J. Hughes, Jr.
Archie J. Hughes, Jr., 82, of Naticook Road, Merrimack, and formerly of Hudson, died Sunday, October 16 at St. Joseph Hospital.
Born in Northumberland, New Hampshire, March 9, 1923, he was the son of the late Archie J. Sr. and Mildred (Cochran) Hughes.
He was the widower of Margery A. (White) Hughes who died in 1993.
Mr. Hughes was a WWII Marine veteran. He had been active in barbershop singing in New Hampshire and Maine.
He also enjoyed yard sales.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Ruth Hughes of Hudson; three daughters and a son-in-law, Sharon Roy of Nashua, Deborah DeBelis of Brooksville, Florida, and Sheila and Jerry Burnett of Merrimack, New Hampshire.
Two sisters, Virginia Murphy of Iverness, Florida, and Sue Tibbals of White River Junction, Vermont.
A brother-in-law Carl White of Sunapee, New Hampshire, and six grandchildren: Stephen Roy of Maryland, Michael Roy of Colorado, Adam Hughes of Hudson, Anissa Burnett of New York, Keli Howard of Alaska, Debi Bolduc of Nashua, and three great grandchildren: Jenna Bolduc of Nashua, Ian Howard of Alaska, and Georgia Roy of Maryland.

Judith "Judi" (Malcolm) Robinson
Judith "Judi" Robinson, 54, of Hudson, New Hampshire, an organist and piano teacher, died Tuesday afternoon, October 18, 2005, at her home with her loving husband and children at her bedside.
Judi was born April 8, 1952, in Haverhill, Massachusetts.
Judi graduated from Haverhill High School in 1969 where she was an all-state singer.
After high school, Judi attended Merrimack College.
She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Haverhill and an organist and teacher of piano for 35 years.
She was a member of the American Guild of Organists and was the founding director of the Cate Park Band in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, and former director of the GodSpell play at the Searles Castle in Windham, New Hampshire.
Judi was the beloved wife of Douglas K. Robinson and the former wife of David J. LaCarubba, Sr. of Melrose, Massachusetts. Devoted mother of David J. LaCarubba, Jr. of Lowell and Brian K. Robinson and Kathryn N. “Katie” Robinson, both of Hudson, New Hampshire. Cherished daughter of Frederick E. Malcolm of Haverhill and the late Marilyn (Woodman) Malcolm. Loving sister of Janice “Jan” Malcolm of Hampstead, New Hampshire, Frederick “Freddie” Malcolm, Jr. and his wife, Mary of Bradford and Susan “Sue” Foley and her husband Peter of Amherst, New Hampshire.
Daughter-in-law of Tina LaCarubba of Haverhill and her late husband John LaCarubba.
Funeral services will take place at the First Baptist Church, 217 Main Street, Haverhill, on Saturday October 22 at 10:00 a.m.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
Visiting hours at the Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main Street, Melrose, Massachusetts, will be on Friday 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Interment will be at the Linwood cemetery in Haverhill.

William C. Cullen
William C. Cullen, 58, husband of Diane L. (Jordan) Cullen of Hudson, New Hampshire, died Sunday evening at his home.
Born in Boston, September 18, 1947, he was a son of Dorothy (Condon) Cullen of Lynn, Massachusetts, and the late Joseph Cullen.
Mr. Cullen was employed by NEBS Deluxe Business Forms in Groton, Massachusetts, as a network analyst.
Surviving him besides his wife and mother are a son and daughter-in-law, William and Jamie Cullen of Leominster, Massachusetts; two daughters, Jennifer Cullen and Elizabeth Cullen, both of Haverhill, Massachusetts; two stepchildren, Michael Whitney and his fiancé Paula Marlowe of South Yarmouth, Massachusetts; and Carolyn Whitney of Hudson, New Hampshire; four grandchildren, Matthew Whitney, Jordan Whitney, Breanna Whitney and Davis Cullen; a brother, Joseph Cullen of Marlboro, New York; a sister and brother-in-law, Christine and Jack Barberis of Salem, Massachusetts; his mother-in-law Eleanor F. Jordan of South Yarmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
