JOANN BOUDLEK
JoAnn "Jody" Boudle, 81, of Colebrook, died in the early morning hours of Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, after a long period of failing health and with her family at her side.
Mrs. Boudle was born on January 19, 1926 in Neosho, Missouri, a daughter of the late Joseph E. Johnson and Gwendolyn (Tully) Johnson.
In 1944 she was married to Clifton "Stubby" C. Boudle at Fort Campbell, Ky.
After Stubby's war service, they returned to Colebrook to raise their family and work at several businesses in the area, including their own. Jody was the long-time bookkeeper at Stub's Texaco and for Boudle Oil.
She enjoyed doing crafts, and she was known to many as an outgoing person who enjoyed snowmobiling wherever there was snow in the U.S. and Canada, and traveling the world with her husband. When home, she truly enjoyed her gardens and flower beds. She loved to be at their camp on Lake Wallace, and she adored her dog, Missy. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many, who will miss her dearly.
Mrs. Boudle is survived by a daughter, Gloria "Cookie" Lambert and her husband Yvan of Ludlow, Mass.; two sons, Clifton "Buddy" C. Boudle Jr. and his wife Ghislaine of Colebrook, and Dennis Boudle and his wife Ida of Colebrook; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews in Tennessee and Kentucky.
Mrs. Boudle is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clifton "Stubby" C. Boudle Sr. on February 18, 2007; by two brothers, Donald and Jack Johnson; and a sister, Grace Brane. Calling hours were held on Tuesday afternoon and evening, July 10 at the Jenkins & Newman Funeral Home in Colebrook. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 11 at the Monadnock Congregational Church in Colebrook, with The Reverend Rebecca Larson officiating. An interment service will follow at the Stewartstown Hollow Cemetery in Stewartstown.

LOIS HUGHES
Lois Gerry (Covell) Hughes, 52, of Canaan, died on Monday, July 9, 2007 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Hughes was born on May 4, 1955 in Germany, the daughter of Walter and Gerry (VanDyk) Covell.
She was a graduate of Colebrook Academy and was married to her high school sweetheart, Dan Hughes. She cared for her home and two daughters while they were young, and later began the Fish Fantasy pet shop in her home. She later moved the store to Main Street in Colebrook, where she operated the pet shop and grooming service for 19 years.
Her love for animals continued throughout her life, and she will be remembered for her ability to remember the names of the animals she cared for, often before remembering the names of their owners.
She loved to tend to her flower garden and also enjoyed fishing, particularly by herself where she enjoyed her "alone time." Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, daughters, grandsons and family.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her loving husband, Dan Hughes of Canaan; two daughters, Sandi Mae Drury and her husband Roger of Burlington, Vt., and Samantha Hughes and her husband Eric Hurlbert of Canaan; her parents, Walter and Gerry Covell of Colebrook; a brother, Walter "Wally" or "Gator" Covell and his fiancée Joanne of Colebrook; a sister, Audie Covell and her fiancé Mark of Colebrook; and two grandsons.

ROGER LAVALLEE
Roger A. Lavallee, 66 formerly of Upton, Maine, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hos-pital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Roger was born on March 25, 1941 in Berlin, a son of Simonne (Kelly) Lavallee and the late Armand Lavallee. On February 17, 2006, Roger was married to Eleanor Jean (Snyder) at his mother's house in Upton.
A proud man, he took great care in every job placed before him and no task was too small. Roger was known to many and had several close friends. He enjoyed NASCAR and loved watching the races. Roger could often be found fishing on his boat at the lake in Upton. Roger is survived by his wife, Eleanor Jean Lavallee of Errol; his son, Steven Lavallee of Norfolk, Va.; his three daughters, Donna Demers and her husband David of Errol, Tammy Jean Parson and her husband Kevin of Magalloway, Maine, and Nicol Lavallee of Myrtle Beach, Va.; his stepson, Floryce Bruce Jr. of Hartford, N.Y.; his two stepdaughters: Laurie Burch of Comstock, N.Y., and Marylou Saunders and her husband Steven of Salem, N.Y.; twelve grandchildren and five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one step-great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; his two brothers, Laurent Lavallee and Wilfred Lavallee, both of Upton; and his sister, Lucille Largesse of Upton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Armand Lavallee, in January of 1988.
At the family's request, there will be no services at this time. Interment will take place in the Upton Cemetery in Upton, Maine. Arrangements are under the direction of Fleury-Patry Funeral Homes of Berlin and Gorham.
PATRICIA RIFF
Patricia Riff, 84, of Lancaster, died on Sunday night, July 1, 2007 at Weeks Medical Center in Lancaster.
Mrs. Riff was born in Sisson Ridge, New Brunswick, on December 7, 1922, a daughter of Wilmot and Catherine (Rollins) Jones. She and her late husband, Richard W. Riff, owned and operated Riff's Flowers Shop in Lancaster from 1948 until their retirement in 1976. After retirement, she worked for Peter W. Powell as a real estate agent.
She was a life member of the White Mountain Riding Club. She enjoyed going to the Lancaster Fair, loved to play Bingo, and traveling to Florida every winter since 1976. She was a Communicant of the All Saints Church in Lancaster.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Riff of Lancaster; by five sisters, Lorna Jones and Myrna Reinhardt both of South Portland, Maine, Dorothy Scott of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Ruth Kavanaugh and Faye Savage, both of Lakeville, New Brunswick; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, Richard, on May 8, 1983; and by three brothers, Doug Jones, Maurice Jones and Gene Jones.
At Patricia's request there were no calling hours. A graveside service was held on Friday afternoon, July 6 in the Colebrook Village Cemetery, officiated by The Rev. Raymond Ball, pastor of All Saints Church in Lancaster.

CAROLYN ROBBINS
Carolyn J. Robbins, 77, of Pittsburg and formerly of Pembroke, Mass., died early on Monday afternoon, July 2, 2007 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook with her family at her side.
Mrs. Robbins was born on October 13, 1929 in Quincy, Mass., a daughter of the late Herbert Walker and Mary (Pratt) Walker.
She attended schools in Massachusetts before marrying Charles A. Robbins and raising her family in Pembroke. For the last 25 years Mrs. Robbins has been a resident of Pittsburg, and she and her husband owned and operated the Robbins Cabins on Beach Road for the past 22 years.
Mrs. Robbins enjoyed doing crafts, and she was known to her family as someone who loved to be at home and take care of her home. She truly enjoyed her regular guests who returned to the cabins season after season, and the time that she could spend with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Robbins is survived by four daughters, Lois Pento of Halifax, Mass., Lorrie Byrnes of Pittsburg, Leanne Kelley and her husband Edward of Pembroke, Mass., and Linda Porazzo and her husband Paul of Pembroke, Mass.; two brothers, Bruce Walker of Pittsburg and Ronald Walker of Holbrook, Mass.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Robbins is preceded in death by her husband, Charles, in 2004; by her parents; two brothers, Albert and Robert Walker; and a sister, Dorothy Vance.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service was held at the Pittsburg Hollow Cemetery in Pittsburg on Saturday afternoon, July 7, with The Reverend Richard Boyden officiating. KENNETH SMITH
Kenneth G. Smith, 78, of Colebrook, died on Friday morning, July 6, 2007 at the Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook, with his family at his side.
Mr. Smith was born on July 26, 1928 in Colebrook, a son of the late George and Lillian (Higgins) Smith.
He served with honor in the Air Force, and spent his working life in and around the Colebrook area as a self-employed truck driver while raising his family in Colebrook with his wife, Vivian.
Mr. Smith is survived by a son, Timothy Smith and his wife Lois of Nevada, Iowa; a sister, Regina Sweatt of Rutland, Vt.; seven brothers, Gordon Smith and his wife Myra of Columbia, Glen Smith of Hartford, Conn., Frederick Smith and his wife Margaret of Columbia, William Smith and his wife Alice of Gilmanton Iron Works, Howard Smith and his wife Joyce of Laconia, Donald Smith of Laconia, and Roland Smith and his wife Barbara of Colebrook; his two grandchildren of whom he was especially proud, Megan and Marshall Smith of Nevada, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian, in 1999; a sister, Vetta Thibeault; and a brother, Lawrence Smith.

DIAN STODDARD
Dian Stoddard, 67, of Merrimack, died on Friday, July 6, 2007 at Laurel Center in Bedford after a long illness.
She was born in Cambridge, Mass., on September 4, 1939, a daughter of the late Frank and Corine (Balduf) Morgan. She was graduated from Fryeburg Academy in Maine in 1957.
Mrs. Stoddard was a longtime resident of Merrimack since 1960, and also enjoyed her summer camp on Akers Pond in Errol. She loved gardening, the 4-H group, the Merrimack Youth Association, and the Boy Scouts.
She was also involved in promoting and attending community concerts in Nashua. Members of the family include her husband, Robert D. Stoddard Sr. of Merrimack; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Michelle Stoddard II of Merrimack; twin daughters, Lynne and her husband Chris Barclay of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Holly Breault of Nashua; and two grandsons.
Calling hours were held at the George R. Rivet Funeral Home in Merrimack on Monday afternoon and evening, July 9. Funeral services were held in the funeral home on Tuesday. Burial will take place in the Colebrook Village Cemetery on Wednesday, July 11 at 1 p.m.

TAMMY JEAN BOESKE
Tammy Jean Boeske, 36, of Chester, died on Sunday, August 12, 2007 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Mass., after a courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer. She was born on July 12, 1971 in Exeter, a daughter of Norman Simano Sr. and Rosa L. (Byarlay) Eaton.
Tammy was a life-long resident of Chester. She was a graduate of Timberlane High School in Plaistow and was employed for eight years with Presstek Co. in Hudson as an engineering assistant.
Tammy was very involved with her sons' Boy Scouts in Chester, serving as a troop leader for several years. She was active in the State of New Hampshire Foster Parent Program, participated in walka-thons and fund-raisers for breast cancer research, and attended services at the Epping Bible Baptist Church.
In her spare time, Tammy enjoyed scrapbooking, cross-stitching, and sudoku. She was known to have a sweet tooth, and especially loved chocolate and whoopie pies. The family fondly remembers Tammy as a selfless person who devoted her life to her two sons. She will be sadly missed.
The family includes her two sons, Zachary and Nathan Boeske of Chester; her mother and stepfather, Rosa and Franklin Eaton of North Stratford; her father and stepmother, Norman and Della Simano Sr. of Bulls Gap, Tenn.; paternal grandfather, Charles Piper of Apollo Beach, Fla.; a sister, Roxanne D. Phillips; a brother, Norman Simano Jr.; stepbrothers and sisters Tabor Eaton, Tiler Eaton, Amy Place, Amber Brown and April Gladson; her former husband, Steven Boeske; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins, and friends.
Calling hours were held on Tuesday evening at the Brewitt Funeral Home in Raymond. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15 at the Epping Bible Baptist Church, with Rev. Ronald Townsend officiating.

MAURICE FORTIN
Maurice Joseph Fortin, 85, of Derby, died on August 8, 2007 in Glover.
He was born on March 7, 1922 in Derby, a son of Cyril and Albertine (Lessard) Fortin. On June 29, 1946 he was married to Laurette Veilleux, who predeceased him. He entered the Army and was a veteran of World War II.
Mr. Fortin was a foreman and machinist with Union Butterfield, where he retired in 1981 after 41 years of service. He was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church in Derby Line, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion of Newport. He enjoyed camping, fishing, as well as playing horse shoes and watching his children and grandchildren playing softball at their camp in Averill.
He is survived by eight children, Daniel Fortin and his wife Arlene of Derby Line, Gerald Fortin and his wife Susan of Derby, Denis Fortin and his wife Martha of Derby Line, Conrad Fortin and his wife Janet of Derby, Lawrence Fortin and his wife Kathy of Las Vegas, Nev., Norbert Fortin and his wife Rita of Newport, Helen Gates and her husband Jim of Hardwick, Monique Allard and her husband Michael of Newport Center; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Viateur Fortin of Derby; his sisters, Bernadette Fortin of Derby Line, Sr. Cecile Fortin of Littleton, Rita Peterson of Orwell, Vt., and Yolande Osowski and her husband Walter of Demarest, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Alexander and Reginald Fortin.
Calling hours were held on Sunday evening at the Curtis-Britch-Converse-Rushford Funeral Home in Newport. Funeral services were held on Monday morning at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Derby Line, with the Rev. Yvon Royer celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed at St. Edward's Cemetery in Derby Line with full military honors.

JAMES MERCER
James Edward Mercer Jr., 79, of Albany, Ga., and formerly of Columbia, died on Monday, August 6, 2007 at his home.
He was born on September 18, 1927 in Waltham, Mass., to the late James Edward Sr. and Florence M. Rose Mercer.
He was a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church, the Jolly Seniors and the Louis Grindle Sunday School Class. Never meeting a stranger, James enjoyed being around his family and friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicky Hawks and Jamie Ellen Thompson of Albany; a son-in-law, Michael Hawks of Albany; a brother and sister-in-law, Thomas A. Mercer and his wife Obiejean Mercer of Friendsville, Tenn.; a sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and her husband Fay Barnett of Charlotte, N.C.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held on Wednesday evening, August 8 at Hall & Hall Funeral Home in Albany. Funeral services were held on Thursday morning, August 9 at Sunnyside Baptist Church, with Revs. Dennis Taylor and John Townsend officiating. At Mr. Mercer's request, he was cremated following the service.
