DOROTHY ALLEN
Dorothy "Dot" Ellen (Garland) Allen, 74, of Stratford, died peacefully at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook after a brief illness, with her family by her side.
Born on July 9, 1931 in West Charleston, Vt., she was a daughter of Seth and Mable Garland. She had been a resident of the Stratford area for over 45 years, coming from Island Pond. Before retiring she worked for 14 years at Stratford Plywood and 25 years at Tillotson Rubber. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in North Stratford.
Dot enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and being a good neighbor, and always thought of others before herself. She also enjoyed flowers.
Dot is survived by her daughter-in-law, Nancy (Pierce) Morissette of Conway; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her brother Ormond and his wife Betty Garland of Orleans, Vt.; sisters Ann and her husband Jackson Allen of West Charleston, Vt., and Althea Smith of San Diego, Calif.; nieces Myra and her husband Bob Curless and Myra McCormick, all of Stratford; and other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; by her first husband, Oscar Morissette; by her second husband, Aubry Allen; an infant son, Joseph; son Donald in 2006; and a brother, Seth Garland. At Dot's request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 at Lakeside Cemetery in Island Pond, officiated by Fr. Daniel Deveau, pastor of the Sacred Heart Church. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton.

HARRY BARNES JR.
Harry E. Barnes Jr., 74, of Pittsburg, died at his home on April 25, 2006.
He was born on May 19, 1931 in Plymouth, Mass., the son of the late Harry E. Barnes Sr. and Hazel G. (Cowdry) Barnes.
After graduation from high school, Mr. Barnes served as a member of the Naval Reserve. He was married to Gwendolyn Mary Caron on June 16, 1956, and they were married for 35 years. They resided in Sunapee, where he was employed by the New Hampshire Electric Cooperative as a lineman and where they raised two children.
In 1988 Mr. Barnes transferred to the Colebrook district, and he retired from line work in 1991. He continued on a part-time basis, reading meters for the Co-op until 1995.
Mr. Barnes was a member of the Lake Sunapee Skin Divers Club, twice being called upon to search for drowning victims. He also enjoyed many years of diving in Lake Sunapee with his wife and friends, retrieving various types of old boat anchors, and he helped to find and recover a very old Indian dug-out canoe which was later sent to a local place of historical interest.
He was a member of the Manorettes Dance Club of Newbury, N.H., which performed at the Expo '67 at the World's Fair in New York City. He was also a member of the Lake Sunapee snowmobile club, the Pittsburg Ridge Runners snowmobile club, and a local motorcycle club. For a time Mr. Barnes also served as a Justice of the Peace.
He enjoyed a variety of other activities throughout his life as well, including hunting, boating, waterskiing, camping, music and square dancing. Mr. Barnes was also an avid fisherman and stocked his own trout pond behind his home in Pittsburg. He will be especially remembered for his love of get-togethers with family and friends.
Mr. Barnes had a wonderful imagination and a talent for a variety of crafts in metals and wood, and he truly enjoyed rebuilding a 1931 Model A Ford and an antique Farmall Cub tractor. He spent many hours restoring and showing gas engines.
After retiring in Pittsburg, Mr. Barnes kept himself busy mowing lawns and snowblowing yards for his friends and neighbors. He enjoyed a few vacations with family in Tennessee, and with friends in Arizona and Missouri.
Mr. Barnes is survived by a daughter, Robin Shepard and her husband Gary of Sevierville, Tenn.; and a son, Lance Barnes of North Pole, Alaska; two sisters, Barbara Fisher of Wendell, N.H., and Cora Betty McCarthy of New London, N.H.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There are no calling hours. A graveside service was conducted on Tuesday afternoon, May 16 at the Pittsburg Hollow Cemetery, with The Rev. Timothy McDowell officiating. GERTRUDE DEYO
Gertrude E. Deyo, 102, of Lincroft, N.J., and formerly of New Hampshire, died on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at the Care One in Holmdel, N.J.
Calling hours and a funeral service were held in Red Bank, N.J. A private interment service will be held in the Colebrook Village Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

SINI FOSKETT
Francine J. "Sini" Foskett, 72, of Clarksville, died on Thursday, May 11, 2006.
Sini was born in Manhattan on April 22, 1934, the daughter of the late Frank J. and Sonia (Kuretz) Rys.
Sini was an extraordinary person who taught more than just English to her students in Canaan for many years. She was an exceptional gardener who knew more about plants than most. Herbs were her specialty, and she was often referred to as "the herb lady."
She had been a nationally ranked swimmer in college, and she taught many local children how to swim and was grateful to have the new community pool in which to teach her grandson. She was involved in AmeriCorps and was proud of her service.
She was a mother, an artist, a writer, a reader who had a love for all books, and a member of the Women's League. She also served as a school board member and periodically as chairman of the school board. She enjoyed watching the news and the Boston Red Sox on television. She was politically active and thought that voting was important.
She loved animals, especially Siamese cats, and she raised them all of her life. She loved her truck, "Rosie," and her house on the hill more than any place on Earth. While the last nine years of her life were filled with pain and hardship, she was courageous and remained active, even returning to school last year. Sini made friends wherever she went and will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Sini is survived by her husband, Peter Foskett of Colebrook; a daughter, Sharon Dronia and her family of Albany, Vt.; two sons, Darach Foskett of California, and Jamison Foskett and his family of Clarksville; and her beloved cat, Eddy.
Sini is preceded in death by her son, Sean Foskett, whom she missed dearly.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held by her family at her home in Clarksville in June, with the date and time to be announced. JAY GOULD
Jay J. Gould, 83, of Groveton, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Concord Hospital after a brief illness, with his family by his side.
Born on July 11, 1922 in Colebrook, son of Elmer J. and Alice (Wright) Gould, he was a resident of Groveton since the early 1940s.
Jay was a Navy veteran and served during World War II. He was a member of the Groveton United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 6808 and American Legion post 17 in Groveton. Before retiring he was a farmer and an entrepreneur, and owned and operated several businesses including JJ's Daily Bar.
Jay loved spending time with his family, including his 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He also loved traveling, music and dancing, and was known for his great sense of humor.
Jay is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bethany "Betty" Gould of Groveton; his children, Janice Gould and family of Norfolk, Va.; Wanda and Dan Dupuis and family of Ocean City, Md., Melanie and Steve McMann and family of Groveton, Kyle Young of Alabama and Bridget Cornwell of Maryland, the family of Gail Gould and Joya and Randy Beaton and family of Stark.
He was predeceased by his son, Eric on July 17, 2002; daughter Gail on October 28, 2002; and by three brothers and two sisters.
Calling hours were held on Friday May 12 at the Arm-strong-Charron Funeral Home in Groveton. Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at the Groveton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Sherry O'Bara officiating. Buri-al with military honors followed in the Northumberland Cemetery.

NAOMI HEATH
Naomi B. Heath, 98, of Gloversville, N.Y., died on Wednesday, May 10 at the Nathan Littauer Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Stewartstown on April 28, 1908, the daughter of the late Arthur and Cora A. Knapp Covell.
She attended schools in New Hampshire and on April 11, 1925 was married to Converse Heath. Mrs. Heath was employed as a gloveworker in area glove shops for many years, and lastly employed by Ruben Glove Company in Gloversville.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Northville, N.Y., a member of the United Methodist Women, and enjoyed crafts.
She was predeceased by her husband, Converse Heath, on February 4, 2001.
Survivors include her son, Buzz Heath of Northville; two daughters, Lucille Blunck and her husband Marvin of Gloversville, and Marguerite Burlingame and her husband Waldo of Gloversville; one brother, Erving Covell and his wife Polly of Groveton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia Heath; and her son, Preston Heath.
Friends called on Monday afternoon, May 15, at the Northville Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service and burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. PAULINE SWEATT
Pauline E. Sweatt, 60, of Morrisville, Vt., died on Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare in Burlington. She was born on August 23, 1945 in West Stewartstown, the daughter of Sylvan and Evangeline Sweatt.
Pauline enjoyed knitting, working puzzles, reading, and caring for her doves and finches.
She is survived by her son, Donald Sweatt and his wife Tammy of Andover, N.H.; three brothers, Sylvan and Dean Sweatt of Stratford, and Wilfred Sweatt of Penacook; two sisters, Lorraine of Stratford and Arlene Poulin of Stratford and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 20 at the Bloomfield Town Cemetery. White-Fiess Funeral Home in Morrisville is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the March of Dimes, 105 Main, Barre, VT 05641.
LUCILLE GARROW
Lucille S. Garrow, 97, of Goffstown, died on June 27, 2006 at a local health care facility after a period of declining health.
She was born in Montgomery, Vt., on March 8, 1909, the daughter of Harvey and Nellie (Domina) Pudvah.
She lived in Errol, where she worked in logging camps as a cook. She later owned and operated Mountain View Inn and the Esso gas station, during the 1940s through the Œ60s. In recent years she worked as a nurse's aide in nursing homes.
She leaves nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two children, Shirley Mae and Wayne Garrow. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Paul Pudvah and Harold Pudvah.

JIM KENNY
James Michael Kenny, 64, of Groton, Vt., died on June 30, 2006 at the VA Medical Center in White River Junction.
He was born in Danbury, Conn., on February 23, 1942, the son of James and Ann Marie (Capillaro) Kenny. Jim was in the Air Force from 1960 to 1964 during the Vietnam War period. He worked in the transportation and the home-delivery business for many years as a truck driver for Gary's Fuel, Inc., in North Haverhill, N.H. He belonged to the American Legion Post 20 of Woodsville, and the Veterans of Foreign War Post 5245 of North Haverhill.
He is predeceased by a brother, G. Timothy Kenny.
Survivors include his wife Bonnie (Elliott) Kenny of Groton; two daughters, Jody Gallant Doyle of Wells River, Vt., and Amy Prehemo of Pittsburg; three brothers, Robert Kenny of Burlington, Dan Kenny of Milton, Vt., and Anthony Kenny of Westfield, Vt.; two sisters, Dawn Warden of Roswell, Ga., and Margaret Waite of Salem, N.Y.; five grandsons and a granddaughter; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There were no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 at the Benton Community Hall in Benton, N.H. Burial will take place at a later date.

CHARLES COLCORD
Charles F. Colcord, 73, of Pittsburg, died on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born on March 12, 1933, in Newport, N.H., son of the late Clyde and Elizabeth (Dudley) Colcord. He was graduated from Sunapee High School in 1951 and enlisted in the Navy, receiving his honorable discharge in 1955.
Mr. Colcord attended Keene State Teachers College and was graduated with a degree in education. He taught special education in Massachusetts and in 1968 accepted a grant from the Ford Foundation to earn his master's degree in administration.
In 1969 he was married to his late wife, Ernestine Lapoint, and taught in Athol, Mass. He also taught in Claremont, and served as principal and taught in both Stewartstown and in Pittsburg, where he retired in 1993. Mr. Colcord also worked for Ethan Allen in Island Pond, Vt., and Beecher Falls, Vt. He was a member of the Northland American Legion, Post #47 of Canaan, VT, and the Tin Can Sailor's Association. His desire to help children led him to become very involved with the Boy Scouts while he lived in Stewartstown. He will be remembered for his love of reading and for spending countless hours on Governor's Pond.
Mr. Colcord is survived by his son, Michael Colcord Sr. of Centralia, Wash.; two daughters, Sharon Rodrique and her husband Sheridan of Pittsburg, and Lisa Beth Colcord of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, J.D. Colcord of Warner; five grandchildren, Darrin Jock, Brett Jock, Michelle Rodrique, Michael Colcord Jr. and Megan Roxanne Curfman; four great-grandchildren; and a niece and two nephews.
Mr. Colcord is preceded in death by his loving wife, Ernestine (Lapoint) Colcord. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service was conducted on Tuesday afternoon, July 11 at the Pittsburg Hollow Cemetery, with Mr. Ronald Day officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Northland American Legion Post #47 of Canaan. Those in attendance are requested to dress casually. A reception will immediately follow at the Pittsburg Fire Station.
