Lucille A. Lavoie Jamro
Lucille A. Lavoie Jamro, 76, died Sunday, April 4, 1999 at a Concord nursing home after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Born in Manchester, she was the daughter of Joseph and Lea Plante Lavoie, and for a long time resided in North Conway, before returning to Manchester. Before her retirement, she had been employed as a cashier for various supermarkets and restaurants.
She was married to Joseph (Mike) Lavoie, who died in 1974.
Family members include two daughters, Joan Szot Sarvai of Manchester, and Beverly Simmons of Jackson; four sons, Richard Szot of Fairfax Station, Va., Mike Jamro, James Jamro and David Jamro, all of Manchester; 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. at McHugh Funeral Home, 483 Beech St., corner of Hanover St., Manchester. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Donations may be made to Hospice Home, 250 Pleasant St., Concord, NH 03302.
Leona M. Danforth
Leona M. Danforth, 84, of Twin Mountain, died on Monday, April 5, 1999 at Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster after a long illness. She was born May 30, 1914 in Center Conway, daughter of Orren and Abbie Miller Hamilton.
She lived in North Stratford and Bartlett prior to moving to the Twin Mountain area in 1953. She and her husband, Dwight, made their first home at Fabyan Station, where she worked at the post office. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and crocheting.
She was predeceased by her husband Dwight on July 31, 1981; a a daughter, Madeline Johnson Clark in 1979; and a sister, Marjorie.
Her family includes a daughter, Irene Johnson of Twin Mountain; a sister, Eleanor Smith of Fryeburg, Maine; a grandson, Bruce Johnson of Bethlehem; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Jennifer Johnson; a great-grandchild, Corey Beale.
There will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Fryeburg. Arrangements are by the Ross Funeral Home, Whitefield Chapel.
Robert F. Hunt, Sr.
Robert F. Hunt Sr., 70, of Millis, Mass., died April 3, 1999, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness.
Born Oct. 11, 1928, in Boston, he was the son of the late Grace (Quirk) Hunt-Donahue and step-son of the late Jack Donohue. He was educated in the Dorchester Schools. Formerly of South Boston and Medfield, he had been a resident of Millis since 1955. He was a partner and vice president in charge of production and customer relations with the Adolph Bauer Inc. Engraving Co., in Holbrook.
A member, communicant and usher of St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Millis, he was also a U.S. Army World War II veteran, as well as a member of the AMVETS Post 495 in Millis.
The husband of Mary L. (Mueller) Hunt, he is survived by six children, Roberts F. Hunt Jr., and his wife, Dawn, of Fryeburg; Patricia M. Stratton and her husband, Burton, of East Walpole; Richard J. Hunt and his wife, Erin, of Wrentham; Peter E. Hunt and his wife, Beth, of Lakeville; John L. Hunt, of Millis; and Mary G. Brogan and her husband, Michael, of Wrentham; a brother, Edward Hunt, of Quincy; a sister, Jeanne Connolly, of Sandwich; a step-sister, Mary MacIntyre, of Dorchester; 13 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Hunt, and a grandson, Samuel Logan Hunt.
A funeral mass will be celebrated tomorrow, Tuesday, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas The Apostle Church, 82 Exchange Street, Millis. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis.
Visiting hours are today from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve Street, Millis. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Thomas Church, Attn.: Rev. Chambers, 111 Exchange Street, Millis, Mass. 02054.
Yvonne A. Evans
Yvonne A. Evans, 89, died Monday, May 31, 1999 at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway. She had been a resident of SunRise Health Care Center in North Conway.
Her family includes a daughter, Marilyn Bell of Fryeburg, Maine; four granddaughters, Holly Foster of Fryeburg, Tracy Mason of Bethel, Maine, Kelly Lloyd ofd Fryeburg, and Wendy Chaplin of W.A.F.B., Mo.; and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Carl H. Evans, in 1981.
At Mrs. Evans' request, there will be no service.
Deric F. Button
Deric F. Button, 22, of Center Ossipee, died on May 28, 1999 at his home, the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle crash on May 29, 1995 in Dover, in which a drunk driver was responsible.
He attended Kingswood Regional High School in Wolfeboro, where he was awarded the Outstanding Freshman Award in 1992 for his musical talent. Deric was chosen to be the first seat saxophone in the All State Jazz Band in 1994. He played saxophone, drums and keyboard for the Ron Jones Band in Rochester. He was also a member of Habitat for Humanity.
He was a protective and caring brother, and was considered the most loving and devoted friend to his brother, sister and friends.
His family includes his mother and step-father, Gina and Larry Ross of Center Ossipee; his father, Frederick Button of Rochester; a sister, Sheyna Button; a brother, Joshua Button, both of Center Ossipee; his maternal grandparents, Nancy and George Willis of Cumberland, R.I.; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Button of Dover; and many aunts and uncles.
Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lord Funeral Home, Center Ossipee. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at his home at 20 Moody Pond Road, Center Ossipee.

Karen J. Birkbeck
Karen J. Birkbeck, 33, of North Conway, died on May 28, 1999.
She was born December 21, 1965 in New Haven, Conn., the daughter of David Meagher Sr. and Joan Cooper Derosier. She had lived in Conway for the past eight or nine years, moving here from West Haven, Conn.
Mrs. Birkbeck was an assistant director for the United Front.
Her family includes her mother and step-father, Joan and David Derosier of Tamworth; her father, David Meagher Sr. of West Palm Beach, Florida; two sons, Gregg Reeves Jr. of Lovell, Maine and Evan Hallett of Conway; a daughter, Amanda Birkbeck of Conway; a brother, David Meagher Jr. of Concord; two sisters, Susan Gildersleeve of East Haven, Conn., and Linda Candelora of Lovell, Maine; and her maternal grandmother, Helen Cooper of Fryeburg.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, June 2 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Baker-Gagne Funeral Home, Rt. 16, West Ossipee. Services will be held Thursday, June 3 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Larry Owens officiating. Burial will be in Wonalancet Cemetery.

Mary E. Oliver Kimball
Mary E. Oliver Kimball, 81, died of cancer on May 7, 1999 in Anaheim, Calif., where she had resided for the past 38 years.
She was born in South Paris, Maine on March 24, 1918, the daughter of Ruth M. Spiller of Haverhill, Mass. and Sherman T. Oliver of New Vineyard, Maine.
Following her graduation from high school in Whitefield, N.H., she obtained a New Hampshire Cosmetology license and then purchased and operated Roberts Beauty Parlor in North Conway.
In 1942, Mary joined the 149th WAAC (Women's Auxiliary Air Corps) Post Headquarters Company, which was the first female soldiers' organization to serve overseas in Africa and Italy. In 1946 Mary pioneered the implementation and operation of the first public school of beauty culture in New England, in Dover, and was the first female assistant coach of a co-ed high school fishing team. She married Robert B. Kimball Jr. of Haverhill, Mass., on August 28, 1948.
Her family includes her husband of almost 51 years, Robert; daughters Nancy, Marianne, Diane and Linda; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at the Union Cemetery in Newton, New Hampshire, sometime in June or early July.
Arline "Topsy" Samuelson
Arline "Topsy" Samuelson, 83, of Intervale, died on May 24, 1999 at the Clipper Home of North Conway, following a long illness. She was born on November 15, 1915 to Edward Thoyt Chamberlain and May Hadley Chamberlain of Montrose, Mass.
She graduated from Lynn English High School in Lynn, Mass., and then pursued a course of fine arts at Colby Junior College in New London. She was awarded an Associates Degree in Fine Arts in June, 1935. After graduating, she attended the Scott Carbee School of Art, the Massachusetts School of Fine Arts, and the Boston Museum School of Art. For a short time she designed greeting cards for a company in Boston.
During the late 1940s and into the '50s, she was very active with the Eastern Slope Ski Club's Junior Ski Program. She was also a Den Mother for the local Cub Scouts. "Topsy" worked for many years as a salesperson at the Shop in the Woods Gift Shop in North Conway.
She kept her art interests alive by teaching art to many of the area's children and adults. Her classes were held at the North Conway Community Center, and many private lessons were held at her home in Intervale.
During the creation of Story Land in Glen, the late Bob Morrell hired Topsy to design many of the early attractions, including the pumpkin coach and the magic castle.
From 1956 to 1961, Topsy illustrated several children's books for a company in New York. In 1989 she helped in illustrating Outdoor Explorations in the Mount Washington Valley by Ned Beecher, Tin Mountain Conservation Center.
Her family includes a son, Peter B. Samuelson of Intervale; a daughter, Brooke Samuelson of Old Saybrook, Conn.; three grandchildren, Darrah E. Grubb, Eric P. Samuelson and Kathryn Samuelson; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Episcopal in North Conway on Thursday, June 3 at 5 p.m. Immediately afterward there will be an open house, in celebration of Topsy's many years as an art teacher, at the North Conway Community Center. Former art students are encouraged to drop off their artwork for display at the Community Center anytime prior to the open house.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the North Conway Community Center/Topsy Samuelson Art Scholarship Fund, c/o the North Conway Community Center, P.O. Box 487, North Conway, NH 03860. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Dollars for Scholars Program.

Marion Burnett Parks Will
Marion Burnett Parks Will, 83, of Tavares, Florida and Peabody, Mass., died Wednesday, May 26, 1999 at the Union Hospital, Lynn, Mass., after a long illness.
She was born and raised in Lynn, and had been in the restaurant business on the north shore most of her life prior to her retirement six years ago. She had first operated the Busy Bee Restaurant, and later Wills Dairy Bar, both in Lynn, Mass., for many years. She then operated the Cliffside Restaurant on Rt. 1 in Peabody, Mass., and later the Summit Country Club and Ok Corral Restaurant on Summit St., Peabody, Mass. for 15 years prior to her retirement.
Her family includes a son, Michael J. Parks of North Conway; a sister, Madeline Morse of Hampton; three daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Harry Parks; her second husband, Harry S. Wills; a son, Harry C. Parks; two brothers, James Burnett and Jack Hanlon; and by two sisters, Wilda Ross and Ella Ilkes.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Francis L. Conway and Sons Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody, Mass. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn, Mass.
