Donald L. Knight, LOUDON

LOUDON - Donald L. Knight, 69, of Lovejoy Road, died Sunday at Concord Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Massachusetts, the son of John and Elsie (Neilson) Knight. He lived in Loudon for more than 30 years, previously living in Penacook.
He served with the National Guard for many years.
He worked for Northern Telecom for more than 25 years and later worked for Northeast Electronics. He was the founder of Eastern Repair Service in Bow.
He was a member of the Horace Chase Lodge No. 72 and the Amateur Radio Association. His radio call letters were W1YED.
He enjoyed boating and motorcycling and was an avid craftsman.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Peggy (Riedel) Knight of Loudon; a son, Kenneth Knight of North Carolina; a daughter, Kathy Holderness of New Mexico; a step-daughter, Jennifer Mogavero of Concord; four grandchildren; three sisters, Linda Thayer, Nancy Thompson and Karen Doyle, all of Maine; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wendell J. Butt Funeral Home, 42 Washington St., Penacook.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Henry Frost, pastor of the Loudon Center Free Will Baptist Church, will officiate.
Interment will be held at a later date.

Estelle R. Kenney, BOW

BOW - Estelle R. Kenney, 84, of Ridgewood Drive in Bow, died Friday at the Merrimack County Nursing Home after a period of failing health.
She was born in Groveton, the daughter of Gideon and Emma (Goyette) LaPointe.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Kenney; and a daughter, Mary Ellen.
She is survived by two sons, Robert Kenney of Templeton, Mass., and Edward Kenney of Warner; a brother, Leo Serbian of Claremont; two sisters, Florence and Renz, both of West Palm, Fla.; three grandchildren, including Charlene Cesarini and David Kenney, both of Bow; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ernest C. Pelchat, CENTER HARBOR

CENTER HARBOR - Ernest C. Pelchat, 72, of Pine Knoll Drive, died Sunday at the Golden View Health Care Center in Meredith.
He was born in Laconia, the son of George and Anna (Chabot) Pelchat. He lived in Gilford for many years and in Center Harbor for the past 21 years.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He had been employed by Lewis & Saunders for the past 19 years.
He was a communicant of the Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No. 876.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine (Guyer) Pelchat of Center Harbor; a son, Shawn Pelchat of Campton; three daughters, Stephanie Hengelmann of Virginia, Lisa Taylor of Laconia and Cynthia Chapman of Gilford; several grandchildren; three sisters, Arline Martel of Sandwich, Lorraine Warfield of Gilford and Bertha Swett of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia. Use the Whipple Avenue entrance.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Laconia. The Rev. Adrien Longchamps, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be held in the spring at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Laconia.

Dorothy M. Kennedy, BOW

BOW - Dorothy M. Kennedy, 89, formerly of Logging Hill Road, died yesterday at Genesis Pleasant View Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was born in Framingham, Mass., the daughter of Ernest Blease and Mary (Sawin) MacEachran. She lived in Keene for 10 years before moving to Bow in 1950.
She was a 1918 graduate of Lowell (Mass.) High School.
She was a member of the Welcome Rebecca Lodge in Natick, Mass., and a member of the Sawin Society.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Kennedy Sr., in 1966.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Kearns of Bedford; a son, Walter Kennedy Jr. of Clinton, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Waters Funeral Home, 50 S. Main St., Concord.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home's chapel. The Rev. Anna Beach will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord, Mass.
Stephen A. Grivois, EPSOM

EPSOM - Stephen A. Grivois, 53, of Chestnut Pond Road, died Saturday at Concord Hospital.
He was born in Portland, Maine, the son of Arthur and Mabel (Barrett) Grivois. He lived in Chichester for 20 years and recently moved to Epsom.
He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was a cabinetmaker and the proprietor of the Woodwright Shop in Epsom.
He served as a Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop No. 85 in Chichester and also was a Babe Ruth coach.
In 1984, the town of Chichester recognized him as its Citizen of the Year.
He was a country and western dance instructor at the Circle Nine Ranch in Epsom.
He is survived by his mother of Portland, Maine; his wife, Cecile (Blais) Grivois of Epsom; a son, Scott Grivois of Somersworth; a daughter, Staci Miller of Florida; four grandchildren; and a sister, Kathy Gerdes of Windham, Maine.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke.
Burial will be held at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at the convenience of the family.

Ruth E. Moses, 94, of Christian Avenue, died Sunday at Havenwood Nursing Home.
She was born in Glencliff and was a graduate of Dow Academy in Franconia. She also graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, and Columbia University in New York City.
She worked as a librarian at the New York State Library from 1969 to 1973.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Martha Moses of Orlando, Fla.; a niece, Charlotte Jary of South Hadley, Mass.; and grandnieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
Graveside services and burial will be held in the spring in Elmwood Cemetery in Franconia.
The Waters Funeral Home of Concord is in charge of arrangements.
Virginia E. Serafin, RANDOLPH

RANDOLPH - Virginia E. (Sheridan) Serafin, 81, of Pinkham B. Road, died Saturday at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester.
She was born in Berlin, the daughter of Thomas and Rose (Tardiff) Sheridan. She had lived in the Berlin-Randolph area all of her life.
She was a member and former president of the American Legion Dupont-Holmes Post No. 82. She was also a charter member and founder of the TOPS Club of Gorham and served as an officer and chairman of many state committees.
She was predeceased by three children, Beverly Hamel, Francis Serafin Jr. and an infant daughter; and two brothers, Wilfred Sheridan and Donald Sheridan.
She is survived by her husband, Francis Serafin of Randolph; three daughters, Rose Mulligan of Sebastian, Fla., Virginia Mattson of Keene, and Gail Rayno of Concord; a son, Gene Serafin of Pembroke; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Peter Sheridan of Sebastian, Fla., and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from noon to 2 p.m. at the Bryant Funeral Home, 1 Promenade St., Gorham.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at the Randolph Cemetery.

Lena F. Young, PEMBROKE

PEMBROKE - Lena F. (Fowler) Young, 90, of Old Bear Brook Road, died yesterday at Concord Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Deerfield, the daughter of Fred and Fronia (Robie) Fowler. She had lived in Pembroke for more than 80 years.
She graduated from Pembroke Academy in 1929 and had been a member of its girls' basketball team.
She worked at Bear Brook State Park for 50 years and had worked part-time at the Granite State Candy Shoppe in Concord for 25 years.
She and her husband organized the Best Yet 4-H Club, where she served as leader for 50 years.
She was a member of the Suncook United Methodist Church and the Methodist Women's Club. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Bethany Chapter No. 61 - the Rebekahs, Mary Gordon Bartlett Lodge No. 69, and the Fidelity Club.
She was also a member and former president of the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary, and a long-time member of the Pembroke PTA, the Epsom Flower Club and the Pembroke Women's Club. She worked at the PTA and 4-H booths at the Deerfield Fair for more than 40 years.
She was named New Hampshire Mother of the Year in 1973 and attended the National Convention in Colorado Springs, Colo. She received the Russell B. Tobey Director's Award from Gov. John Sununu in 1984 for distinguished service by a seasonal empoyee of the state park system, and was also honored as Pembroke's Citizen of the Year in 1992.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Roland Young Sr., in 1981; two sisters, Bernice Pepler and Hazel Fowler; and a brother, George Fowler.
She is survived by a daughter, JoAnne Richards of Pembroke; a son, Roland Young Jr. of Pembroke; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Edith Elliot of Epsom; and cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Suncook United Methodist Church. The Rev. Randall Scheri will officiate.
Burial will be held in the spring at the Buck Street Cemetery in Pembroke.
