Conrad V. Ekstrom Sr., TILTON

TILTON - Conrad "Connie" V. Ekstrom Sr., 73, of Pine Hill Road, died yesterday at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Nashua, and had lived in the Tilton-Northfield area for more than 50 years.
He worked for more than 20 years for Pike Industries as a truck driver and was employed by the M.A. Crowley Trucking Co. in Franklin for several years prior to his retirement.
He was a 23-year volunteer with the Tilton-Northfield Fire Department and was captain of Engine No. 1. He was also a 50-year member of the American Legion Post No. 49, life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 1698, and a member of the Franklin Lodge of Elks No. 1280.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II, where he served as an armed guard.
He is survived by his wife, June (Knight) Ekstrom of Tilton, five daughters, Bonnie Sewell of Laconia, Deborah Rowell of Franklin, Donna Bean of Sanbornton, Dedi Gilbert of Sanbornton, and Vicki Hussman of Tilton; four sons, Conrad Ekstrom Jr. of Claremont, Roland Ekstrom of Northfield, Bently Ekstrom of Northfield and Rick Marshall of Franklin; 16 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the William F. Smart Sr. Memorial Home, Franklin-Tilton Road in Tilton. VFW, Elk and Legion memorial services will be held during calling hours.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with the VFW chaplain of Post No. 1698 officiating.
Burial will be in Park Cemetery in Tilton.

Lena M. Thompson

Lena M. Thompson, 78, died Thursday at Concord Hospital.
She was born in Oakland, Maine, the daughter of Ralph and Ella (Osborn) Stevens. She lived in Oakland before moving to Pembroke in 1970.
She was a former member of the Oakland Chapter No. 191, the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was predeceased by her husband, Actor Thompson; and a sister, Besse Culberson.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Leiby of Clinton, Maine; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Melvin Sawtelle, Lawrence Stevens and Raymond Pottle, all of Massachusetts.
A graveside service will be held today at 11 a.m. at the Lake View Cemetery, Old Belgrade Road, Oakland, Maine.
Wheeler Funeral Home of Oakland, Maine, is in charge of arrangements.
Edme V. Prive, ALLENSTOWN

ALLENSTOWN - Edme V. Prive, 65, died yesterday at Concord Hospital after a period of failing health.
He was born in Allenstown, the son of Derezinne Prive and Marie Prive Herneon.
He served for three years with the New Hampshire National Guard.
He had worked as a carpenter for Key-Loc Corp. and Pembroke Boat Co. He had also been employed by Beebe Shoe, Manchester Shoe Co. and Emerson Mills.
He was known for his love of animals and collection of key chains.
Survivors include his wife of almost 43 years, Grace (Gray) Prive; two sons, Raine Prive of Lawrence, Mass., and Edward Prive of Allenstown; a daughter, Pearl Labrie of Concord; four grandchildren; two sisters, Palma Reardon of Epsom and Palmire Rondeau of Allenstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Petit Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown. The Rev. C. Peter Dumont, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will take place in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Hooksett, at a later date.
Margaret Colclough, GOFFSTOWN

GOFFSTOWN - Margaret F. Colclough, 90, died Sunday at Hillsborough County Nursing Home.
She was born in Black Foot, Idaho, the daughter of Steven and Helena (Fitzmorris) Hilliard. She had lived in the Goffstown area for many years.
She had worked as a nurse at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Moore General Hospital, from which she retired in 1974.
She was predeceased by two husbands, Arthur Flanders, who died in 1985, and Earl Colclough, who died in 1975; and a grandson, Keith Wynands who died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Judith Ann Wynands of New Boston; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor Mooney of West Newton, Mass.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at French & Rising Funeral Home, 17 S. Mast St., Goffstown. The Rev. Nancy Vogele of St. Matthews Church will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillsborough County Nursing Home.
Virginia C. Peaslee

Virginia C. "Ginny" Peaslee, 82, of Pembroke Street, died yesterday at Hospice House in Concord.
She was born in Bradford, the daughter of Hartwell and Ethel (Trow) Clement. She was a 1935 graduate of Simonds Free High School in Warner.
She worked at the Congregational Christian Conference Center in Pembroke and also for the hot lunch program at Pembroke Academy.
She was a member of the Pembroke Congregational Church; the Henicon chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Henniker; and the Star Rebekah Lodge in Weare.
She also belonged to the Pembroke Women's Club and was the past president of the Pembroke Parent-Teacher Association and the past president of the Plausawa Valley Country Club Women's League.
She known for the braided rugs she created.
She is predeceased by a daughter, Lynda Peaslee, who died in 1961.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Arnold "Ben" Peaslee of Pembroke; a daughter, Marcia Duford of Allenstown; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Clement of Henniker; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. The Rev. Dan Stauffacher and the Rev. Hugh Topliff, will officiate.

Grace F. Powers, NEW LONDON

NEW LONDON - Grace F. (Burke) Powers, 97, died Saturday at the Clough Extended Care Center in New London.
She was born in Waltham, Mass., the daughter of John and Mary (Shea) Burke. She lived in Waltham for more than 90 years before moving to New Hampshire in 1995. She lived at Foxchase in South Sutton for four years.
She was a member of the Grange, the Waltham Mothers Club and was an active communicant at Saint Mary's Parish in Waltham for many years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Powers; a daughter, Nancy Ballou, and by seven brothers and sisters.
She is survived by a son, Peter Powers of Hopkinton; a daughter, Marilyn Ohlsen of Palmerton, Pa.; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main St., Waltham, Mass.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of St. Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall St., Waltham.
Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Way.
Blanche Riley, MEREDITH

MEREDITH - Blanche Riley, 80, of Gould Avenue, died Saturday at Hospice House in Concord after a long illness.
She was born in Manchester, the daughter of Wright and Willa (Richards) Heald. She lived in Meredith for 18 years, moving here from Dunbarton.
She was a Girl Scout leader in Dunbarton. She also volunteered for the 4-H Country Kitchen in Hopkinton, helping staff the baked potato window, where she will be missed.
She was a waitress for various Manchester restaurants and worked for the New Hampshire Insurance Co. where she served in the executive dining room.
She was known for lending a helping hand to everyone. She volunteered her time organizing activities for seniors at Hillside Apartments. She also wrote for the Meredith Senior Center newsletter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Riley, who died in 1983.
Family members include her daughter, Sylvia Grenier of Dunbarton, and several cousins.
A memorial service will be celebrated Sunday at 2 p.m. at Bethan Chapel, 54 Newbury Road (off Brown Avenue) in Manchester.
Memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association in Meredith or Hospice House of Concord.
The Phaenuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium of Manchester is in charge of the arrangements.
Rita Martin, FRANKLIN

FRANKLIN - Rita Martin, 79, of Independence Avenue, died at home yesterday.
She had also lived for a number of years on Grove Street.
She was born in Lowell, Mass., the daughter of Felix and Gertrude (Methot) LaFreniere.
She lived in Melrose and Lawrence, Mass., before moving to Franklin 10 years ago.
She worked as a seamstress for a doll manufacturer in Malden, Mass., and later as a fancy stitcher for Copley Shoe Co. in Wakefield, Mass.
Martin was a den mother for the Cub Scouts in Melrose, Mass., and a communicant of St. Paul Church in Franklin.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Martin, of Franklin; a daughter, Eleanor Sargent of Franklin; three sons, Richard Martin of Franklin, Ronald Martin of Saugus, Mass., and Les Martin of Malden, Mass.; nine grandchildren; several great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian celebration will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Church. A spring burial will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be Wednesday night from 7 to 9 at Thibault-Neun Funeral Home at 143 Franklin St. in Franklin.
