Phila E. Nelson
WEBSTER - Phila E. Nelson, 94, formerly of Newbury, Vt., died April 19 at the Merrimack County Nursing Home in Boscawen after a long illness.
She was born in Northfield, the daughter of Warren Baker and Ida May (Wilson) Edmands.
She was a 1921 graduate of White River High School, with a teaching certificate from the state of Vermont. She continued her training at the University of Vermont.
She taught at numerous elementary schools in Orange County, Vt. After retiring, she worked at Oxbow Antique Shop in Newbury, Vt., for 25 years. She and her husband moved to Webster after he retired from dairy farming in 1984.
She was a member of the Newbury Home Dem and the Newbury Women's Club. She was also a member of the Vermont State Teacher's Association and the National Retired Teacher's Association.
She attended the First Congregational Church of Newbury, Vt., where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.
She was predeceased by her husband, Waldo Nelson; a sister, Lovisa Edmands; and a brother, Earle Edmands.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra-Lea Bartlett of Webster; two sons, Waldo Nelson of Waldorf, Md., and E. Bruce Nelson of Duxbury, Vt.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
There will be no calling hours.
A funeral service will be held May 3 at 11 a.m. in the First Congregational Church of Newbury, 4915 Main St. South, Newbury, Vt. 05051. The Rev. Robert Faling, pastor, will officiate. Burial will take place after the service in Oxbow Cemetery, Newbury, Vt.
Donations may be made to either the First Congregational Church of Newbury or the Franklin Visiting Nurses Association, 75 Chestnut St., Franklin 03235.

Mark Janulis
DUNBARTON - Mark Janulis, 46, died yesterday at the Hospice House in Concord.
He was born in Orange County, N.J., the son of Paul and Anastasia (Kannell) Janulis. He had lived in this area for 28 years.
He was vice president of operations at Amoskeag Beverages Inc., where he had worked for many years.
He was a graduate of St. Anselm College in Manchester, where he earned a bachelor's degree in English.
In addition to his parents of Deerfield Beach, Fla., he is survived by his wife, Annie (Mumane) Janulis of Dunbarton; a sister, Anna Dounelis ; two brothers, Peter Janulis of West Orange, N.J., and Dean Janulis of Elmwood Park, N.J.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Boutwell & Hussey-Wiren Funeral Home, 190 N. Main St., Concord.
Funeral services will be held later in the week in Union, N.J.

Karl P. Metzler
BOW - Karl P. Metzler, 71, of Hooksett Turnpike, died yesterday at home.
He was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., the son of John and Martha (Lesco) Metzler.
He was a master electrician, and worked for Maywood Electric in Port Chester, N.Y., for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Booker) Metzler of Bow; a son Eric Metzler of Concord; a daughter, Wendy Veltri of New Rochelle, N.Y.; a brother, Charles Metzler of Cairo, N.Y.; a sister, Dorothy Sprague of Yonkers, N.Y.; two grandsons; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Bennett Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., Concord. There will be a prayer service during the calling hours at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Tim Wildman officiating.

Eva D. Stockwell
PETERBOROUGH - Eva D. Stockwell, relative of area residents, died Wednesday at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough.
She was born in Peterborough, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred (Bagley) Diamond. She was a 1939 graduate of Peterborough High School.
She was employed as a teller by the First National Bank in Peterborough for 25 years, retiring in 1985.
She was a lifelong member of the Union Congregational Church, where she served as the church organist for 25 years and was a member of the church Women's Fellowship.
She enjoyed music.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, M. Bryant Stockwell of Peterborough; two daughters, Nancy Daniels of Holden, Mass., and Martha Gordon of Milford; a son, Philip Stockwell of Warner; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Union Congregational Church, 33 Concord St., Peterborough. The Rev. Holly Shamy, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery after the service.

Laurette M. Downing
NEW HAMPTON - Laurette M. Downing, 77, died yesterday at home after a long illness.
She was born in Biddeford, Maine, the daughter of Telesphora and Blanche Madore.
She lived in the Ashland-New Hampton area for most of her life. She was a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Downing; a daughter, Shiela Paul; a granddaughter, Vanessa Downing; a grandson, Douglas Fields; and a sister, Pauline Roddy.
She is survived by eight sons, Paul Fields of Rumney, Raymond Fields of Dunbarton, Mark Fields of California, Ezra Downing of New Hampton, Douglas Downing of Bristol, Roland Downing of Thornton, Harold Downing of Washington, and Ronald Downing of Merrimack; three daughters, Bernice Burgess of Rhode Island, and Ella Ford and Theresa Boynton both of New Hampton; 34 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a brother, Joseph Madore of Richmond, Maine.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Dupuis Funeral Home, Ashland.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Agnes Catholic Church, Ashland.
The Rev. George Robichaud will officiate. Burial will be held in Green Grove Cemetery, Ashland, after the service.
Doris M. Lustig
NASHUA - Doris M. Lustig, 64, relative of area residents, died Thursday at a Nashua health-care facility.
She was born in Dracut, Mass., and had lived in Lowell, Mass., before moving to Nashua in 1969.
She was a graduate of Dracut High School.
She worked as a buyer for Fasfax Corporation in Nashua, and was a retired employee of Scott Electronics in Salem, where she had worked for five years.
She enjoyed crocheting, making latch hook rugs, bingo, and trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City.
She attended First Church, United Church of Christ, Nashua.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Raymond LeBlanc, Arthur LeBlanc and Albert LeBlanc.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 30 years, Richard Lustig of Nashua; three children, Sandra Meehan of Merrimack, William Lustig of Pembroke and Jill Lustig of Nashua; five grandchildren; and a sister, Florence Martin of Pelham.
There are no calling hours and services will be private.

Florence M. Klardie, HOOKSETT

HOOKSETT - Florence M. Klardie, 84, of Pine Street, died yesterday at Concord Hospital after a short illness.
She was born in Manchester, the daughter of John and Estelle (Gambell) Lapete. She had lived in Bedford for some time before moving to Hooksett in 1955.
She was a homemaker and an avid gardener.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jacob Klardie Jr.; and four children, Jacob Klardie III, Arthur Klardie, Dorothy Klardie and Phyllis Klardie.
She is survived by two daughters, Estelle Klardie of Hooksett and Barbara Klardie Eaton of Allenstown; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
A graveside service will take place in Martin's Ferry Cemetery, Hooksett, tomorrow at 1 p.m. The Rev. Dan Stauffacher, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Pembroke, will officiate.

Demaine G. Clark

Demaine G. "Clarkie" Clark, 68, a longtime Concord resident, died Tuesday at Concord Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Pickeral, Wis., the son of Merrill and Hazel Clark. Before moving to New Hampshire in 1967, he worked at Johnson Motors in Waukegan, Ill., for 14 years. Prior to his disability retirement, he worked for many years at Aerotronics in Contoocook, Rumford Press in Concord and Fruedenberg-NOK in Northfield.
He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandra (Soboll) Clark; three daughters, Elaine Gauthier of Belmont, Linda Caldwell of Webster and Kathy Butcher of Newport; two stepsons, W. Rob Carmichael of Ft. Eustis, Va., and Jeffrey Carmichael of East Concord; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Lenard Clark of Kenosha, Wis., and Laverne Clark of Ft. Smith, Ark.; and a sister, Fern Anderson of Kenosha, Wis.
He was predeceased by a sister, Marietta Morgan, formerly of Gurnee, Ill.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at Elm Brook Park, Hopkinton, at 2 p.m.

Raymond A. Nadeau, LONG BEACH, N.C.

LONG BEACH, N.C. - Raymond A. Nadeau, 66, a former area resident and the relative of area residents, died Sunday at Dosher Memorial Hospital, Southport, N.C.
He was born in Lowell, Mass., the son of Sylvio and Ora Nadeau. He lived in Contoocook from 1971 to 1980. He later moved to Long Beach, Fla., in 1997 from Key Largo, Fla.
A U.S. Army veteran, he retired from Western Electric/AT&T after working there for 20 years. He also worked at Rumford Press and owned and operated a pizza and sub shop in Penacook.
He was a life member of the VFW, a member of the Oak Island Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He was of Catholic faith.
He is survived by his first wife of 24 years, Sandra (Bell) Nadeau of Concord; his second wife, Florence (Langworthy) Nadeau; two daughters, Dawn Olmsted of Long Beach, N.C., and Tracie Balkon of Concord; two stepsons, Paul Langworthy of Tampa, Fla., and Kenny Langworthy of Long Beach, N.C.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Donald Nadeau of Derry and Lionel Nadeau of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and a sister, Pauline Jankowski of Lowell, Mass.
