Harland R. Flanders, NEW LONDON

NEW LONDON - Harland R. Flanders, 70, died Tuesday at the New London Hospital.
He was born in Warner, the son of Ernest and Amy (Anderson) Flanders.
He had been a resident at the William P. Clough Extended Care Center in New London for the past four years, previously living in Bradford, Warner and Salisbury.
He was employed Nichols Sawmill in Warner, and also worked as a machinist for Kearsarge Reel Company in Bradford for 36 years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (Huntoon) Flanders; and a stepdaughter, Delores LaRock.
He is survived by three sons, Robert Flanders of Concord, Bruce Flanders of Sunapee and Harland Flanders Jr. of Manchester; three daughters, Debra Oaks of Warner, Dorothea Flanders of Henniker and Helene Lorden of Concord; a stepdaughter, Dona Virgin of New London; a stepson, George Marion of Bennett, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Flanders of Glen Cliff and David Flanders of Warner; three sisters, Nellie Thibedeau of Warner; Minnie Hall of Webster, and Dorothy Johnson of Warner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held today Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, Salisbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harland R. Flanders Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 144, New London 03257.

John L. Eastlake

John L. Eastlake, 86, of Concord, died Monday in a local nursing home. He was born in Youngstown, Ohio. He lived in Erie, Pa., for many years before moving to Concord in 1992.
He was a realtor and worked with the Flint & Eastlake Co. in Erie, Pa.
He received his pre-law degree from Duke University and was a member of the National Association of Realtors.
He served as a captain in the United States Army with the 7th Regiment during WWII.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion Hanhauser Eastlake.
He is survived by one son, Jonathan Eastlake of Seattle; one daughter, Denise McWain of Concord; two grandchildren; one sister; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Boutwell & Hussey-Wiren Funeral Home, 190 North Main Street, Concord.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Mildred P. Eaton, HILLSBORO

HILLSBORO - Mildred Pauline (Pehrson) Eaton died on Tuesday at the Pheasant Wood Nursing Home in Peterborough.
She was born in Leominster, Mass., the daughter of Nils and Leah (Wells) Pehrson.
She attended school in Amesbury, Mass., as well as Syracuse University in Syracuse, N.Y. She was a graduate of Plymouth Normal School in Plymouth.
She was a school teacher in Washington, N.H. for many years. In 1946, she became the co-founder of the Eaton Furniture Co. in Hillsboro, along with her husband, and remained this for over 44 years.
She was predeceased by a her husband, Representative Joseph Eaton Sr. of Hillsboro, and a son, Joseph Eaton Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Pauline Attridge of Needham, Mass., and Nancy Whitelaw of Gary, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
There are no calling hours.
Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Robert M. Porter, PENACOOK

PENACOOK - Robert Macdonald Porter, 62, of Maple Street, died yesterday at Concord Hospital.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Jean (Macdonald) and Pliny Porter Jr.
He attended Cornell University before serving in the United States Army and graduated from Marietta College in 1962.
He worked for IBM for 20 years. He was a volunteer firefighter and a boy scout leader in Concord and Penacook.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Helen Porter; his children, Robert Porter Jr. of Nashua, Lt. Col. Charles Porter of Scott AFB, Ill., Donald Porter of San Diego, Elizabeth Kunz of Northwood, Sgt. Bruce Porter of Ft. Bragg, N.C., and Catherine Dodge of Loudon; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday at South Congregational Church, Concord.
There will be no funeral services.
Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Gerard O. Dion, LACONIA

LACONIA - Gerard O. Dion, 86, of Belvidere Street, died Tuesday at the Lakes Region General Hospital.
He was born in Laconia, the son of Paul and Alexina (Belanger) Dion. He was a lifelong Laconia resident.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He worked as head custodian for Laconia High School for 65 years, and was a talented finish carpenter.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Lakeport.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian (Gobin) Dion of Laconia; a daughter, Marie Dion-Graziano of Tuckerton, N.J.; a brother, Aime Dion of Belmont; two sisters, Simone McNamara of Rochester, N.Y., and Bertha Gray of Farmington, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, using the Carriage House entrance.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at Our Lake of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington St., Lakeport. Burial will take place after the Mass in St. Lambert's Cemetery, Laconia.
Joseph A. Planisky, UNITY

UNITY - Joseph A. Planisky, 80, of Sullivan County Nursing Home, died Tuesday. He was born in Alverda, Pa., the son of John and Catherine (Murzyn) Planisky. He lived in Fairfield, Conn., for many years before moving to New Hampshire in 1993. He moved to the Sullivan County Nursing Home in 1997.
He worked as a machinist for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Conn., for 46 years, retiring in 1983.
He attended Our Lady of Fatima Church in New London.
He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Nadolny) Planisky.
He is survived by three daughters, Terrie Donnell of Georges Mills, Lillian Planisky of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Sue Mandel of Cape Cod, Mass.; six grandchildren; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Chadwick Funeral Home, 174 Main St., New London.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 2 p.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, New London. The Rev. Richard Lower, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Fairfield, Conn.

A Memorial Mass for Catherine Maltais, who died on Jan. 15, will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 72 South Main St., Concord.
The Rev. Albert Tremblay, Jr., parochial vicar, will be the celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Concord.
The Waters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Cecile Marie Anne Kemp, FRANKLIN

FRANKLIN - Cecile Marie Anne (Plourde) Kemp, 70, formerly of Damy Drive in Franklin, died on Monday at St. Francis Home for the Elderly in Laconia following a long illness.
She was born in Manchester, the daughter of Omer and Mathilde (Janelle) Plourde. She lived in Contoocook for many years, later moving to Lakeland, Fla., in 1985. She lived there until 1994, when she moved to Franklin.
Prior to moving to Florida, she had worked for more than 15 years with Beede Electric in Penacook, where she was an assembler and line supervisor.
She was a former communicant of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Franklin. She was also a 25-year member and officer of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and was the recipient of its highest award, the Legion of Honor Medal.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Donald Kemp of Franklin; a son, Paul Kemp of Henniker; two daughters, Diane Yeo of Franklin and Carol MacArthur of Penacook; seven grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Paul Plourde of Marlboro, Mass.; two sisters, Therese Raiano of Marlboro, Mass., and M. Claire Courchaine of Marlboro, Mass; and nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours.
A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Franklin with the Rev. Michael Kerper, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial was private.
Donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association of Franklin, 75 Chestnut St., Franklin 03235.

Joseph M. Joyce, SOUTH BOSTON

SOUTH BOSTON - Joseph M. Joyce, the father and grandfather of Pembroke residents, died in South Boston on Sunday.
He was the son of Eleanor and the late Michael Joyce of South Boston.
He was an employee of Stop & Shop Co. for 27 years. He was a past commander of VFW Post No. 2860 in Suncook.
He is survived by his wife, Madeline (Daigneault) Joyce; a son, Michael Joyce of Pembroke; a granddaughter; a brother, Michael Joyce of Quincy, Mass.; two sisters, Eleanor Joyce of South Boston, and Carol Joyce-Ciccone of Braintree, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the Cassidy Funeral Home, 743 E. Broadway, South Boston, with a funeral Mass in The Gate of Heaven Church at 9 a.m.
Visiting hours will be held tomorrow from 4 to 8 p.m.
Interment will be in the Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree, Mass.
