Muriel S. Littlefield
CONCORD - Muriel S. Littlefield, 95, died April 11, 2003, at Havenwood Nursing Home.
She was born in Brentwood, the daughter of John F. and E. Christine (Currier) Swasey and was a long time resident of Concord.
She was a 1928 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, where she was a member of the Folk Club, Phi Kappa Phi, Lambda Phi and Delta Chi.
Mrs. Littlefield was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She enjoyed crafts, sewing, walking, gardening and the outdoors.
The widow of Ralph B. Littlefield, who died in 1978, she is survived by two daughters, Nancy L. Penniman of Hampton and Donna L. Nelson of Shingle Springs, Calif.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Joseph Swasey of Brentwood, Robert Swasey of Exeter and John Swasey Jr. of Newton Junction; two sisters, Rachel Rosencrantz of Exeter and Lucille Haynes of Concord; and 18 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one brother, James H. Swasey, and four sisters, Dorothy Gifford, Florence Flower, Mildred S. Kemp and Helena Moreland.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Brentwood Cemetery, West Brentwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Havenwood Heritage Heights Endowment Fund, 33 Christian Ave., Concord, NH 03301.

John E. "Jack" Spinney
PORTSMOUTH - John E. "Jack" Spinney, 89, formerly of Middle Road, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at New Hampshire Veteran’s Home in Tilton.
He was born Nov. 16, 1913, in Portsmouth, the son of the late Ivah W. and Bertha F. (Johnson) Spinney and was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Spinney was a heavy equipment operator for National Gypsum Company for 30 years, retiring in 1968.
He was a member of St. John’s Lodge No 1 F&AM, Dewitt Clinton Commandery No. 02 Knights Templar; Washington Chapter No. 3; Davenport Council No. 5; charter member William Pitt Tavern Lodge No. 1789 F&AM; Rivermouth Chapter Order of Eastern Star. No. 54; the American Association of Retired Persons; and was affiliated with the North Congregational Church.
The widower of Arlene L. (Rasmussen) Spinney, who died in 1995, he is survived by two sons, Arnold J. Spinney of Jacksonville, Fla., and Owen B. Spinney of Portsmouth; three daughters, Susan J. Lackie of Pike, C. Linda McCollett of Jacksonville, Fla., and Janice L. Karkos of Rollinsford; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Irving W. Spinney of Portsmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two grandsons and two granddaughters.
At Mr. Spinney’s request, no services will be held.

Gracie G. Cloutier
HAMPTON - Gracie G. Cloutier, 81, of 7 Dearborn Ave., died Monday, June 16, 2003, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital.
She was born Oct. 7, 1921, in Dummer, N.H., the daughter of the late Edward C. and Grace (Bruso) Griffin. She came to the Seacoast area in 1951 and had resided in Hampton since 1985, coming from Rye and North Hampton.
She was a 1940 graduate of Berlin (N.H.) High School.
Mrs. Cloutier was a domestic in child care for many years and had been employed by the Cahill family since 1960.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hampton and Dummer.
She is survived by one son, Norman E. Cloutier of Hudson; two daughters, Aldea G. Cloutier of Bloomington, Ind., and Dolly Shumate of Rockbridge Baths, Va.; nine grandchildren; 12 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Thursday in Hampton United Methodist Church.

Joyce N. Coburn
HAMPTON - Joyce N. Coburn, 59, of 495 Exeter Road, died Monday, June 16, 2003, in Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston.
She was born Jan. 9, 1944, in Nashua, the daughter of the late Edmund J. and Irene L. (Cote) Winn and had resided in Hampton since 1975.
She was a graduate of Mount St. Mary High School, Nashua.
Mrs. Coburn was the office manager for the late Dr. Bernard Frimm in Hampton. She had previously been the office manager for Dr. Marcotte in Nashua.
She was an active member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club. She was involved in the Stephen Ministry serving as a co-leader since 1996. She received her training in California and continued her education by attending many professional conferences and workshops related to the ministry over the years.
Mrs. Coburn and her husband were involved with Toward Marriage, a program that counseled couples preparing for marriage and she was an active volunteer in area nursing homes.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, George F. Coburn; two sons, Sean E. Coburn and his wife Kelly of Raymond, and Eric G. Coburn of Portland, Ore.; two grandchildren; and one sister, Sr. Joan Winn, RSM, of Concord.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Mary Virginia (Breen) Kanaly
CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Mary Virginia (Breen) Kanaly, formerly of Kingston, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at her home.
She was born Sept. 1, 1917, in Cambridge, Mass., and resided in Belmont, Mass., before retiring to Kingston. She had resided in Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood, before moving to Centerville last fall.
Mrs. Kanaly was the librarian in Kingston, served as the county clerk, and did trust and estate work for a local law office. She was previously the head of the trust department at Harvard Trust Co. in their Cambridge office.
She was active in many local organizations, notably the Kingston First Congregational Church where she contributed many baked goods for many worthy causes. She and her late husband Paul took great interest in the track team at Sanborn Academy and attended many of their events. She enjoyed her family and was an animal lover.
She is survived by two sisters, Annette Dowd of Osterville, Mass., and Betty Cosgrove of St. Louis; three nephews; and five nieces.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Charles Morse, in 1964 and her second husband, Paul Kanaly, in 2001.
Private services will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Kingston.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kingston First Congregational Church or to a local no-kill animal shelter.

Annie C. Elliot
BELGRADE, Maine - Graveside services for Annie C. Elliot, 99, formerly of Hampton and Kennebunk, Maine, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2003, in Pine Grove Cemetery, Belgrade.
She died Feb. 17, 2003.
Robert P. King
NEWBURYPORT, Mass. - Robert P. King, 67, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Saugus, Mass., the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Shepard) Krzywicki-King. He had resided in Marblehead, Mass., for 32 years, moving to Newburyport 10 years ago.
He was a 1954 graduate of Saugus (Mass.) High School and a 1958 graduate of Boston University.
Mr. King was employed at the former Universal Steel & Trading Co., Salem, Mass., for 45 years, serving as the president of the company for 25 years. He was a charter boat captain for 20 years sailing in the Caribbean, retiring in 2002.
He was a corporater of Eastern Bank for 30 years and was a former member of the board of directors of the Salem YMCA for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janice (Kenerson) King; two sons, Peter King of Los Angeles and Barry King of Appleton, Maine; one daughter, Andrea Shepard of Hampton; five grandchildren; one brother, Joseph King of Wakefield; one sister, Elizabeth Kurtz of Lynn, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Lombara and Son Funeral Home, 893 Western Ave., Lynn, Mass.
A memorial celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Frederick E. Knochen
FORT MYERS, Fla. - Frederick E. Knochen, 69, of 5,100 Estero Blvd., formerly of Hampton, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at his home.
He was born April 28, 1934, in the Bronx, N.Y., the son of the late Emil and Mary (Lafferty) Knochen.
He was a 1953 graduate of Mt. St. Michael’s Academy in the Bronx and received his bachelor of science degree in business from Long Island University.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.
Mr. Knochen was employed for the former Western Electric, now Telecordia Corp., in the manufacturing division for 35 years.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton; a member of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Grady Council No. 5093 of Hampton; a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society; and active with the University of New Hampshire Docent Program.
He enjoyed playing pinochle and was a New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joanna M. (Wisler) Knochen; two daughters and their husbands, Mary Beth and Kevin Yentz of Lancaster, Mass., and Kristen and Robert Muglio of Hampton; and four grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 30, at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

Lorraine I. Morin
KENSINGTON - Lorraine I. Morin, 73, of North Haverhill Road, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at her home after a sudden illness.
She was born Jan. 12, 1930, in New Jersey, the daughter of the late Thomas and Edna (Hogan) Marshall. She had resided in Exeter for many years before moving to Kensington 12 years ago.
Mrs. Morin was employed by Joanne’s Fabric in Seabrook for many years and for Exeter Handkerchief Co. in Exeter.
She was a communicant of St. Michael Church, Exeter, and served as a volunteer for the St. Vincent dePaul Food Pantry, at the Richie McFarland Children’s Center in Stratham and by reading to the second-graders in Newton.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and her weekly card games.
The widow of Paul R. Morin, who died in 1987, she is survived by one daughter and her husband, Janice and Peter E. Kuegel of Kensington; one granddaughter; six sisters, Dolores Beers of Dover, Jean McCoy of Illinois, Edna Buxton of Newfields, Marty Restuccia of Virginia, Dottie Dawson of Newfields and Bonnie Kelley of Epping; two brothers, Thomas Marshall and Ray Marshall, both of Newfields; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one grandson, David P. Kuegel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Michael Church, Exeter. Burial will follow in Exeter Cemetery, Exeter.
