Brenda R. Stanley

HAMPTON - Brenda R. Stanley, 39, of 182 High St., died Monday, May 26, 2003, at her home after a lengthy illness.

She was born Sept. 17, 1963, in Exeter. She was raised in North Hampton and Salisbury, Mass., moving to Hampton several years ago.

She attended North Hampton Elementary School and Winnacunnet High School.

She is survived by her father, Linwood Taylor Jr. of North Hampton; her mother and stepfather, Jeanine and Rodney Vigneau of Hampton Falls; one son, Andrew Stanley of Hampton; one daughter, Loretta Stanley of Salisbury; one sister, Darcy Taylor of Greenland; her companion of nine years, John Perusse of Hampton; one nephew; and one uncle.

Funeral services were held Thursday in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton. Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to Portsmouth Home Health and Hospice Services, 94 Albany St., Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Clay B. Tucker

SURPRISE, Ariz. - Clay B. Tucker, 63, died May 24, 2003, in Surprise.

He was born Jan. 1, 1940, in Mexico, Maine, and had resided in Surprise since 1996 coming from Exeter.

Mr. Tucker was an engineer at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard retiring in 1988 after 26 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Tucker; two sons, Bruce L. Tucker and Bret L. Tucker; three grandchildren; and one brother, Donald Tucker.

Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Camino Del Sol Funeral Chapel, Sun City West, Ariz.

Ethel S. Wadleigh

EXETER - Ethel S. Wadleigh, 92, of Hayes Park, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood.

She was born June 25, 1910, in Exeter, the daughter of the late Seba C. and Alice F. (Dame) Smart and was a lifelong resident of Exeter.

Mrs. Wadleigh was a licensed practical nurse at Exeter Hospital, retiring in 1980.

She is survived by one daughter and her husband, Joan and Robert Fitzgerald of Exeter; one son, Robert W. Eastman of Hampton; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Jeanette Williams and Eleanor Tibbetts, both of Exeter; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one great-grandson, Brian J. Robshaw.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 5, at 11 a.m. in the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brian Jon Robshaw Scholarship Fund, c/o Citizens Bank, 154 Water St., Exeter, NH 03833.

Theresa Walker

NEWMARKET - Theresa (Bourgoin) Walker, 76, of Wadleigh Falls Road, died Sunday, May 25, 2003, in Kindred Hospital, Peabody, Mass.

She was born Sept. 6, 1926, in Dover, the daughter of Louis and Mabel (Gillan) Bourgoin. She resided in Durham for 20 years before moving to Newmarket in 1946.

She was a 1944 graduate of Dover High School.

Mrs. Walker attended St. Mary Church, Newmarket, and was active in civic and community organizations.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Richman G. Walker of Newmarket; one daughter and her husband, Rebecca and Brian Lenzi of Barrington; one son and his wife, David and Chris Walker of Newmarket; three grandsons; one sister, Louise "Dolly" Markey of Dover; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one granddaughter, Karen Walker.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Wednesday in St. Mary Church, Newmarket, with the Rev. John Finnigan as celebrant. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket.

Assistance with the arrangements was by the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, Newmarket.

Stephanie Gagnon Doyle

EXETER - Stephanie Rae Gagnon Doyle, 39, of 40 Hampton Road, C12, died Thursday, May 22, 2003, at her home after a sudden illness.

She was born April 19, 1964, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Robert S. and Sharon R. (Doucette) Nichols of Raymond.

She was educated in Kinsgton schools and was a 1982 graduate of Sanborn Regional High School. She completed her training as a hairdresser at the Barbazon School of Beauty in Lawrence, Mass. Simply for enjoyment, never working in a salon, she was always willing to provide haircuts for family and friends.

She was a homemaker at the time of her death and had previously been a bookkeeper for several firms throughout the area.

She was an avid cook and baker; was a motorcycle enthusiast and was a member of the Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club. She enjoyed knitting and excelled with her computer, entering many computer contests. She enjoyed traveling, especially to New York City and Florida. She was instrumental in raising money for many New Hampshire veterans. Through corporate and private donations, she raised countless dollars for Liberty House in Manchester.

She was a former member of St. James Episcopal Church, Amesbury, Mass.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Thomas C. Doyle of Exeter, one son, Andrew R. Gagnon; one sister, Renee Burke of Kingston; one brother, Robert of Raymond; her maternal grandparents, Harold J. and Ruth Doucette of Fremont; two stepdaughters, Amber and Leah Doyle of Dover; one uncle, George Nichols of Gloucester, Mass.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Carroll R. Gagnon, who drowned in 1991 in the Lakes Region while canoeing; one son, Christopher R. Gagnon, who died at birth in 1984; and her paternal grandmother, Jane Nichols Manning.

Funeral services were held Monday in the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, Hampton, followed by burial in Village Cemetery, Fremont.

Carole A. Keefe

PORTSMOUTH - Carole Ann Keefe 64, of 140 Court St., died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center.

She was born in June 14, 1938, in Portsmouth the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Brennan) Mahoney.

She was a 1957 graduate of Portsmouth High School.

She is survived by six sons, Paul Keefe of New Durham, John Keefe of Newmarket, Patrick Keefe of Madbury, Jeffrey Keefe and Michael Keefe both of Portsmouth and Shaun Keefe of Dover; five grandchildren; three sisters, Patricia Hanson of Portsmouth, Eileen Rock of Exeter, and Sheila Brigham of Eliot, Maine.

She was predeceased by one sister, Lois Roy.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 98 Summer St., Portsmouth. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Portsmouth.

Arrangements are by the Farrell Funeral Home, Portsmouth.

Marcia C. Sanborn

DANVILLE - Marcia C. Sanborn, 91, of Beach Plain Road, died February 26, 2003, in Exeter Hospital.

She was born Oct. 25, 1911, in Buckfield, Maine, the daughter of Charles B. and Marion (Clark) Conant. She was raised in Maine and Kingston and had resided in North Danville for 69 years.

She was a 1931 graduate of Sanborn Seminary, Kingston.

Mrs. Sanborn was employed by Keezar Manufacturing in Plaistow for many years, retiring in 1968. She had previously worked for F.W. Woolworth in Exeter for several years.

She enjoyed crocheting.

The widow of Melton R. Sanborn, who died in 1998, she is survived by four daughters, Jean Kerr of Yuma, Ariz., Barbara Byrne of North Danville, Sylvia Milbury of New River, Ariz., and Dotty S. Emilio of East Kingston; one son, Butch Sanborn of Raymond; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Muriel Sanborn.

Burial services will be held Sunday, June 1, at 2 p.m. in Old Meetinghouse Cemetery, Danville.

Kenneth J. Tilton

DUNNELLON, Fla. - Kenneth John Tilton, 83, died May 19, 2003, in Crystal River, Fla.

He was born in Haverhill, Mass., and had resided in New Hampshire from 1983 until moving to Florida 20 years ago.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Tilton was a dining hall director.

He was a member of the Charles C. Dame Lodge F&AM in Georgetown, Mass., and the American Legion Post No. 67 in Newmarket.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carrie Tilton of Dunnellon; one son, Wayne Tilton of Newmarket; one daughter, Leah Davis of Dunnellon; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one brother, Richard Tilton of Glen.

Arrangements were by the Roberts Funeral Home, Dunnellon.

Marion B. Avery

EXETER - Graveside services for Marion Baker Avery will be held Saturday, May 24, at 1 p.m. in Plains Cemetery, Kingston, with the Rev. Wayne Van Gundy officiating.

Mrs. Avery, 85, of Camelot Drive, died Jan. 30, 2003, at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont. She was a longtime resident of East Kingston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rockingham VNA and Hospice, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, NH 03833.

Arrangements are by the Brewitt Funeral Home, Exeter.

Ernest P. Bernier

EXETER - Ernest P. Bernier, 88, of 68 Old Town Farm Road, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood.

He was born April 19, 1915, in Exeter the son of the late Wilfred and Georgiana (Couillard) Bernier, and was a lifelong resident of Exeter, moving to Brentwood in April.

He was a 1934 graduate of Exeter High School.

Mr. Bernier was a foreman for Milliken Industries of Exeter.

He was a member of the Exeter Council on Aging.

The widower of Emma (Shaw) Bernier, he is survived by one son and his wife, Paul A. and Sharon Bernier of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Wilfred Bernier of Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one son, Wayne E. Bernier; five brothers, Victor, Alexander, Walter, John and Philip Bernier; and two sisters, Victoria Desjardin and Lillian Morrissette.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 9 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Front St., Exeter. Burial will be in Exeter Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the N.H. SPCA, P.O. Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885.

Arrangements are by the Stockbridge Funeral Home, Exeter.

Harry E. Brown Jr.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Harry Ellsworth Brown Jr., 79, of St. Petersburg and Stratham, died May 7, 2003, in Northside Hospital, St. Petersburg.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor where he was serving aboard the USS Helena.

Mr. Brown was employed by International Harvester Co. of Springfield, Ohio, retiring in 1982.

He was a life member of the USS Helena Organization and the Disabled American Veterans; a member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio; the Loyal Order of Moose; the Veterans of Foreign Wars; and the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Inc.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude (Marston) Brown; one sister, Sarah Huffman of St. Petersburg; two stepchildren, Carol Jean Rogers and Norman E. Marston, both of Stratham; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held May 13 in the National Cemetery at Bay Pines, Fla.
