John J. Dziedzic
NEWMARKET - John J. "Dice" Dziedzic, 83, of Bay Road, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home, Brentwood.
He was born Oct. 7, 1919, in Newmarket, the son of Jacob and Mary (Salva) Dziedzic.
He was a 1937 graduate of Newmarket High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Dziedzic worked at Gallant Manufacturing, Simplex Wire & Cable and retired from National Gypsum Co. After retirement, he worked at Shaw’s in Stratham.
He marched in the Memorial Day Parade in Newmarket for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nellie (Fortuna) Dziedzic; two daughters, Patricia Call and her husband Douglas of Barrington and Judy Stevens of Strafford; two sons, Donald Dziedzic of Wakefield and Daniel Dziedzic and his wife Michele of St. Albans, Vt.; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Cassano and Frances Birmingham, both of Newmarket; one brother, Robert Dziedzic of Newmarket; one sister-in-law, Josephine Dziedzic of Newmarket; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by five sisters, Aniela Wojnar, Anna Shufelt, Stephanie Olszanowski, Catherine Zwearcan and Dorothy Bizinski; and two brothers, Walter and Daniel Dziedzic.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Newmarket; Spring burial with military honors will be in Calvary Cemetery, Newmarket.
Memorial donations may be made to Rockingham County Nursing Home Patient Activity Fund, 117 North Road, Brentwood, NH 03833.

Carol Ann Edgerly
EXETER - Carol Ann Edgerly, 57, of 14 Wayland Circle, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at her home.
She was born Oct. 17, 1945, in Newmarket, the daughter of Theresa (Frechette) Tattersall of Newmarket and the late Irving Edgerly.
Ms. Edgerly was a cook in the dining hall at Phillips Exeter Academy for 16 years, retiring in 2002 due to illness.
She enjoyed crafts and spending time with her family.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her companion of 16 years, Stephen Gingras of Exeter; four daughters, Michelle Hurteau of Exeter, Patricia Buxton of Fremont, April Patton of St. Albans, Maine, and Crystal Hurteau of Epping; seven grandchildren; and three sisters, Judith Ham of Newfields, Peggy Drouin of Pittsfield and Marilyn Gamblin of Lee.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Frances P. Finnegan
HYDE PARK, Mass. - Frances Finnegan, 85, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at the Mary Manning Walsh Home in New York City where she had resided for the past four years.
She was born July 19, 1917, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smolensky. and was later adopted by the Cunningham family. She had resided in Hyde Park for more than 50 years, summering at the Hampton Beach Trailer Park for 50 years.
Mrs. Finnegan was a wife and homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family.
The widow of Gerard C. Finnegan, who died in 1996, she is survived by one son and his wife, Gerard and Darlene Finnegan of St. Simons Island, Ga.; four daughters and their husbands, Anita and James Devaney of New York City, Lorraine Neville of Morro Bay, Calif., Joyce Finnegan of Hyde Park, and Beverly and David Johnson of Hampton; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday in Most Precious Blood Church, Hyde Park. Burial was in Bourne Veteran’s Cemetery, Bourne, Mass.
Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson or Lupus Foundations.

Dr. Wesley J. Schurman Sr.
CONCORD - Dr. Wesley J. Schurman Sr., 90, died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, in Fort Myers, Fla., after several years of failing health.
He was born Aug. 8, 1912, in Longmeadow, Mass., and resided in Concord and Fort Myers.
He attended New England School of Theology and Gordon College in Boston.
Dr. Schurman served as a pastor for 12 years and then became affiliated with Christian Mutual Life Insurance Co. for 45 years, serving as president for 25 years. Upon his retirement in 1981, he remained as chairman of the board for 10 years.
He was granted an honorary Doctorate of Humanities from Trinity College in Clearwater, Fla.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, aviation, boating and raising Arabian horses.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucille Schurman; two sons, Wesley Schurman Jr. of Conway and David Schurman of Boulder, Colo.; one daughter, Carlene Petell of Conway; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 77 Exeter St., Newmarket. Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Newmarket.

Reginald J. Slockett
HAMPTON - Reginald J. Slockett, 78, of 1 Tobey St., died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in Exeter Hospital.
He was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Englewood, N.J., the son of the late Charles and Frances (Zinsler) Slockett. He was a longtime resident of Teaneck, N.J., moving to Hampton in 2000.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He was a firefighter in Teaneck, retiring as deputy chief in 1979 after 28 years of service.
He was a member of F.M.B.A. Local 500.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Laura K. (DiMartini) Slockett of Hampton; four children, Eileen Lindstrom of Hampton, Regina Nagel of Exeter, Michael Slockett of Oradell, N.J., and Charles Slockett of Teaneck, N.J.; eight granddaughters; and one cousin, Anna Thompson of Tenafly, N.J.
Calling hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Volk-Leber Funeral Home, Teaneck, N.J.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Bogota, N.J. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Susan G. Belyea
PORTSMOUTH - Susan Grace Belyea, 35, of 163 Blue Heron Drive, Osprey Landing, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003, in Portsmouth Regional Hospital due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
She was born Sept. 25, 1967, in Weymouth, Mass., the daughter of Delbert and Judith (Bergfors) Belyea. She had resided in Portsmouth for 3 years.
She was a 1986 graduate of Somersworth High School and attended New Hampshire Stratham
Technical College.
Mrs. Belyea was a laboratory technician at the Forestry Service in Durham for seven years.
She enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her mother of Dover, she is survived by two children, Reggie and Delani Belyea of Portsmouth; four sisters, Stacia O’Neil of Hampton, Sara Leavitt of Stratham, and Sheryl Long and Sandra DuBois, both of Dover; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in St. John’s United Methodist Church, Dover, with the Rev. Ann Robertson officiating. Burial was in Pine Hill Cemetery, Dover.

Arthur J. Brady Sr.
HAMPTON - Arthur J. "Hank" Brady, 79, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, at Seacoast Health Center.
He was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Bath, Maine, the son of the late Thomas and Emma (Frasier) Brady Sr. He was a longtime resident of Hampton, living in Rochester for a few years before returning to Hampton in 2002.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was the recipient of the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star.
Mr. Brady was a shipfitter at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 30 years and later worked for several years at American Training in Lawrence, Mass.
He enjoyed camping and was a member of the Winnacunnet Chapter of the National Association of Federal Campers and Good Sam’s Club International.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Priscilla (Merrill) Brady; one daughter and her husband, Judith A. and Charles Pickering of Hampton; one son and his wife, Arthur J. Jr. and Nancy Brady of Hampton; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Kelly of Mattapoisett, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Vincent and Albert Brady.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.

Howard P. Eden
DURHAM - Howard P. Eden, 85, formerly of Dame Road, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at SunBridge of Portsmouth.
He was born July 14, 1917, in Watertown, Mass., the son of George and Gertrude L. Eden. He had resided in Waltham, Mass., and Hampton Beach.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre and was the recipient of the Bronze Star.
Mr. Eden was employed by Waltham Brass, Davidson Fan and the Milliken Co.
He was a member of the Robert G. Durgin American Legion Post No. 67 , Newmarket, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
The widower of Pearl (Clive) Eden, who died in 1992, he is survived by one son, Kenneth Eden; two stepsons and their wives, Wayne and Lorretta Greenough of Hampstead, N.C., and Clive and Dorothy Greenough of Milldale, Conn.; one brother-in-law, Edward Bright of Waltham; one niece and several nephews.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Kent & Pelczar Funeral Home, 71 Exeter St., Newmarket. American Legion Services will be held during the calling hours.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. David Wuori officiating.
Following cremation burial will be in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
David H. Floyd
HAVERHILL, Mass. - David H. Floyd, 57, formerly of Brentwood, died January 13, 2003, after a brief illness.
He was born in Lynn, Mass., the son of the late Howard W. and Evelyn E. Floyd. He was raised in Brentwood.
He attended Swazey School and Exeter High School.
Mr. Floyd was physically handicapped and captive to a wheelchair but was able to work and live a self-reliant life.
He was a life member of the Massachusetts Mayflower Society.
He is survived by one brother, Roger Floyd of New Hampshire; two sisters, Roberta Dreier of Oregon and Marilyn Schultz of Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
