CENTER OSSIPEE -- Karen E. Willand, 36, passed away May 22, 2001, at her home on Dore Street in Center Ossipee.
She was born Sept. 8, 1964, in Wolfeboro, the daughter of Earl "Babe" and Eleanor (Corson) Willand, of Wolfeboro.
Karen was a 1981 graduate of Kingswood Regional High School and had worked for Leone, McDonald and Roberts of Wolfeboro for 19 years. She was known for her kindness and thoughtfulness to everyone she met. She loved crafts, lighthouses, snowshoeing and her cat.
She was predeceased by her father, Earl F. "Babe" Willand and is survived by her mother, Eleanor (Corson) Willand, of Wolfeboro; a brother, Tom Willand and his wife, Diane, of Wolfeboro; a sister, Nancy Morse and her husband, Mike, of Dover; nieces Shauna and Melissa Willand, of Wolfeboro; an aunt, Jean Hamlin, and an uncle, Dick Corson, both of Wolfeboro; and many cousins and special friends, including Ruth Spencer and her boyfriend Kevin Caddigan, of Saco, Maine.
There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Lord Funeral Home on Route 28 in Wolfeboro. Burial will be in the South Wolfeboro Cemetery, South Wolfeboro.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Lakes Regional Humane Society, P.O. Box 2231, Wolfeboro, NH 03894, or the charity of one's choice.

Peggy E. Shaw, 57, of Lovell died at her home Tuesday, May 22, 2001 after a long illness. She was born in Bridgton, the daughter of James and Doris Bresette Kilgore. Her family moved to Lovell when Peggy was four and she attended Lovell and Fryeburg schools. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Byron H. Shaw of Lovell; one son, David L. Shaw of Lovell; two daughters, Malinda Cole of Cape Canaveral, Fla. and Gail L. Pierce of Lovell; one brother Sam Kilgore of Indiana, Penn.; one sister Louise Kilgore of North Carolina; and five grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister Shirley Keaton.
At Peggy's request there will be no services. Arrangements are with Wood Funeral Home of Fryeburg.

G. Scott Hutchinson,80, formerly of Wayland, Ma. and Jackson, NH, died in Bradenton, Fl. on May 18 after a short illness.
Mr. Hutchison was born in New Haven, CT, the son of the late George C. and Helen Hutchison. He graduated from Grove City College with a degree in Journalism. During W.W.II he served 27 months overseas as a sergeant in the Eighth Air Force in England and in the Sixth Army's occupation of Japan.
In l964 Mr. Hutchison joined the staff of the Harvard Business Review and was Executive Editor-Production at the time of his retirement in l985. After his retirement he moved from Wayland, Ma to Jackson, NH where he became an active member of the community. He was trustee-treasurer for the Jackson Public Library for manyyears and a member of the Jackson Planning Board. Scott was a member of Wentworth Country Club and an avid golfer, cross-country skier, and bridge player.
Survivors include his wife Firth of 54 years; two daughters, Beverly Hutchison of Newton Center, Ma: Susan Miao of Wellesley, Me; two grandchildren, Adrienne Firth, and Gregory Scott Miao; two sisters; Margaret Rafferty of Shelton, Con; twin sister Dorothy Partridge of .Clarkdale, Ariz.; a brother Fred of Scotia, NY.
A memorial service will be held at ST. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church in Bradenton on June 3 at 2p.m. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in his memory may be sent to the Jackson Public Library, PO Box 262, Jackson, NH 03846.

Graveside committal services for Robert Allen Allard, 76, of Lower Landing Mobile Home Park in Charlestown, who died December 21, 2000 at the Sullivan County Nursing Home in Unity, will be held Saturday morning, May 26, at 11 a.m. in the Gilman Cemetery in Madison.
Friends and relatives from the Charlestown area will meet at the Charlestown Memorial Chapel, 34 Main Street in Charlestown at 9 a.m. to travel to Madison.

Rodney A. Towle, 65, of Allenstown died May 20, 2001 at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Franklin, the son of the late Herbert Towle Sr. and Louise (Bean) Towle.
He lived in Hooksett and Derry before making his home in Allenstown for the past 25 years. He and his wife also spent winters in Beverly Hills, Fla.
He was employed for 30 years with Holmes Transportation and was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 633.
He also owned and operated Towle's Snack Shack in Hooksett for the past nine years.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, having served with both the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions.
Towle was a member of the Suncook United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Church in Hernando, Fla. Locally, he was a member of the Board of Trustees and an original member of the Saturday Night Supper Committee.
He was a selectman for the town of Allenstown from 1989 to 1993 and on the budget committee in 2000. In Florida he was a volunteer for Skill Bank and Surveillance, a neighborhood crime watch program.
In addition to town politics, Towle enjoyed woodworking.
He was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Girard.
Towle is survived by his wife of 41 years, Janice (McNamara) Towle of Allenstown; a son, Glenn Towle of Freedom; two daughters, Ann O'Brien of Hooksett and Carol Heckman of Henniker; 11 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; his mother; two brothers, Herbert Towle of Barnestead and Robert Towle of Gilmanton; two sisters, Mary Nadeau of Pembroke and Constance Nepveu of Hooksett; and nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held at the Petit Funeral Home in Pembroke.
Funeral services will be held today at 1:30 p.m. at Suncook United Methodist Church.
The Rev. Dr. Virginia Jones-Newton, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Moore Cemetery, Loudon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to either the CRVNA-Hospice Program, PO Box 1797, Concord 03302-1797; or the Suncook United Methodist Church, Main Street, Pembroke 03275.

SEBAGO -- Beatrice Mary Douglas, 75, of Baldwin Rd., died May 16, 2001, at Bridgton Health Care Center.
She was born April 5, 1926, in Brownfield, a daughter of Arthur and Vina Babb McDonald. Mrs. Douglas was educated in Brownfield schools and graduated from Kennett High School of Conway, N.H.
She was a member of the Sebago Center Community Church, was a member and past president (1988) of the West Baldwin 50+ Club, and a member of the Sebago Ladies Circle. Mrs. Douglas was also a Gold Star Mother (having lost a son in Vietnam War). She enjoyed touring with the area senior citizens, watching Lawrence Welk reruns, and knitting and crocheting.
Her husband of 31 years, Maurice Lincoln Douglas, died March 24, 1976. A son, Harvey J. Douglas, died in Vietnam in 1969.
Surviving are one son, M. Lincoln Douglas of Standish; one sister, Marion Carpenter of Conway; two grandchildren, Marci L. Douglas of Florida & Cumberland, Maine, and David A. Douglas of New Gloucester, Mass.
A funeral service was held May 19 at Sebago Center Community Church, Route 107, Sebago. Pastor Greg Young officiated. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery. Arrangements are by Neal & York Funeral Home, Kezar Falls.

GORHAM -- Ms. Arlene (Shreenan) Anderson, 71, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2001, after a long illness. She was born in Berlin on October 1, 1929, the daughter of Arthur and Grace Anderson, and lived in the Berlin/Gorham area for most of her life.
Prior to her retirement, she worked at Coos County Nursing Home for many years before becoming a private duty aide. Her role as a caregiver extended to providing support and aid to many of her elderly relatives.
Members of her family include her son, Andrew Vanasse of Gorham; a daughter and daughter-in-law, Raelene and Julia Shreenan of Florence, South Carolina; a brother and sister-in-law, Francis and Pauline Phair of Gorham; a brother, Edward Anderson of Glen; a sister, Helen Rivard of North Conway; a sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and David Patch of Glen; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
As per Ms. Anderson's request, there will be no visiting hours. there will be a graveside memorial on Saturday, May 19, at 1 p.m. at New City Cemetery in Berlin.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in her memory to St. Barnabas Church, High Street, Berlin, NH, 03570.

LACONIA -- R. Grant Kramer, 89, of Route 28, Laconia, passed away May 14, 2001, at the Taylor home, Laconia. He was born July 11, 1911, in Milton, the son of the late Otto and Rena Kramer. Mr. Kramer was a graduate of Brewster Academy, Wolfeboro, and attended the University of New Hampshire as well as Boston University. He had lived in Ossipee for most of his life where he and his wife Beryl (Moulton) Kramer owned and operated Moultonís Store for 20 years.
Grant served as selectman for the Town of Ossipee and also as moderator for 19 years. He also served on the Carroll County Draft Board. He was a member and past Right Worshipful Master of the Ossipee Valley Lodge 74, F&AM, receiving his 64th year loyalty plaque. Mr. Kramer served as past Grand Representative to the N.H. Grand Lodge, he was a member and past Patron of the Morning Star Lodge, Wolfeboro, and a member of the Bektash Shrine where he co-chaired Stewarts Unit. He also was the Father Advisor of the Order of Demolay in Wolfeboro, guiding young men for many years.
Mr. Kramer had also worked as an adjuster for the Ossipee Insurance Company, Ossipee, and was very active in the Second Congregational Church in Ossipee. He was a member of the Kingswood Country Club and the Laconia Barbershop Chorus.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beryl (Moulton) Kramer of Laconia; three sons, L. Page Kramer of Brooksville, Fla., Peter G. Kramer of Saugerties, N.Y., and Ted M. Kramer of Silver Lake; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Howard Kramer of Cape Cod, Mass. All eight grandchildren plan to be pallbearers and attend a celebration of his life on Saturday, May 19, at 2 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church, Route 171, Ossipee. His burial will be in the Ossipee Cemetery, Ossipee.
The family encourages donations in his memory be made to the Second Congregational Church, P.O. Box 2, Ossipee, NH 03864 or to Ossipee Valley Masonic Lodge, P.O. Box 1, Ossipee, NH 03864.
Lord Funeral Home, Center Ossipee and Wolfeboro, is in charge of arrangements.

TAMWORTH -- Eleanor (Cardinale) McCreary, 74, of Silver Lake Road, Chocorua, died May 16, 2001 at Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro. She was born in New York City, and grew up in Kalamazoo, Mich., later moving back to Long Island. She lived there until 1962 when she moved to St. Croix, Virgin Islands, until 1972 when she moved to Chocorua. She was employed as a real estate broker in St. Croix. She belonged to the Ladies Aide of Chocorua. She enjoyed photography and rug hooking as well as gardening, antiques and traveling.
She is survived by two sons, Kenn L. McCreary, Chocorua, and Dann P. McCreary, Escondido, Calif.; a daughter, Lynn Zell, Valley City, Ohio; two grandsons, Chris McCreary and Jeff McCreary; and a great grandson, Chris Vaughn. She was predeceased by a great grandson, Skylar McCreary. She also leaves a sister, Sue Hutchins, St. Croix, V.I., and three nephews.
Calling hours will be Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Lord Funeral Home, 50 Moultonville Road, Center Ossipee. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Chocorua Community Church, Route 113, Chocorua. Burial will follow at Ordination Rock Cemetery, Tamworth.

Leah A. Clemons, 88, of North Conway died May 19, 2001 at the Memorial Hospital in North Conway following a long illness. Born in North Conway, the daughter of Roger and Edith (Currier) Allard, she was a lifelong resident of North Conway and had been a resident of the SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center for the past four years.
Mrs. Clemons had worked in the Maternity Department at Memorial Hospital for many years as an L.P.N. prior to retiring in 1974.
She had been a member of the former Washington Chapter #44, O.E.S. in North Conway.
She and her late husband were avid fishermen and loved to go antiquing.
The family includes: two daughters, Elaine C. Spratt of North Conway and Janet C. Howard of LaCrescent, MN; eight grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold W. Clemons, in 1999, a sister, Clara Philbrick, in 1994 and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Furber and White Funeral Home, in North Conway, with the Rev. Jack Haney, rector of Christ Church, officiating. Burial will be in the North Conway Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
