Catherine M. Philippon
Mrs. Catherine M. (Seguin) Philippon, age 88, formerly of Gorham and Jefferson, passed away Friday, June 20, 2003 at the Country Village Health Center in Lancaster, where she had residing since March. She was born at Rock Island, PQ, Canada on January 20, 1915, the daughter of Walter and Hazel Pelon Sequin.
A resident of Gorham for many years, Mrs. Philippon was a member of Holy Family Parish. She was a past member of the Gorham Senior Citizens, Catherine enjoyed her family and church activities. Over the years, she had made many cakes, especially wedding cakes, and enjoyed making crafts and such.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Watson Wheeler, Gerard Poliquin, and Allen Philippon.
She is survived by 2 sons: Richard Wheeler and wife Barbara of Union, Maine, and Arthur Poliquin and wife Lynne of Olympia, Washington; one daughter, Pauline Tuttle and husband Robert of Jefferson; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; two brothers: Claude Sequin and Walter Sequin of Island Pond, Vermont; two sisters: Ruth Couture of Meriden, Connecticut and Ann Jodrey of Gorham. There are several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands and her parents, she is predeceased by a brother, Walter Wheeler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 24th at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Gorham. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Lancaster. Calling hours are on Monday, June 23 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesday, June 24th from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 33 Exchange Street, Gorham. Albert Morin
Mr. Albert V. Morin, 68, of 634 Howland Street, Berlin, passed away on Monday morning June 23, 2003 at his home. He was born in Berlin, on August 23, 1934 the son of Albert and Mabel (Dumesail) Morin and was a lifelong resident. Prior to his retirement Mr. Morin owned and operated the Berlin Furniture Mart. He was a member of Guardian Angel Church, now known as Good Shepherd Parish. He was a US Army Veteran.
Members of the family include his wife Lorraine (Houle) Morin of Berlin; two daughters Corinee Gagne and her husband Andy of Berlin and Susan Oleson and her husband Eric of Gorham; a son Mike Morin and his wife Michele of Berlin; four granddaughters Erin Gagne of Berlin, Hillary Oleson of Gorham, Mallory Morin and Megan Morin both of Berlin; a sister Rita Pike of Berlin; an aunt, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning June 26, 2003 at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, with interment in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryant Funeral Home. 180 Hillside Avenue Berlin on Wednesday afternoon and evening from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Anyone who wishes may make donations in his memory to the A.V.H. Lawrence A. 'Chum' Gagnon
Mr. Lawrence A. "Chum" Gagnon, 77, of 807 Fourth Ave., Berlin, NH, passed away Thursday morning, August 21, 2003 at the Androscoggin Valley Hospital.
He was born in Berlin, NH, on January 27, 1926, the son of Adelard and Jeannine Black Gagnon. He was employed as a hough operator and also worked in the Hiney Boilers for the Brown Company, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the United Paperworker's Int. Union Local Union #75 and of St. Joseph's Parish now known as the St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. His hobbies included playing bingo and fishing. He most enjoyed going to his summer camp at Magalloway, also known as "Little Berlin" with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gertrude (Beaudoin) Gagnon; Darline Arcand and her husband Bill of Weare, NH, whom he raised as his daughter; five brothers, Gerald Gagnon of GA, Normand Gagnon of Manchester, CT, Raymond Gagnon of Hartford, CT and Louis and Wilfred "Buster" Gagnon of Berlin, NH; two grandchildren, Pamela Mortin and Jerry McKenzie; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Dorothy Long, and his two half brothers, Henry and Arthur Gagnon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 23, at 11 a.m. at the St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish with Rev. John McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Saturday, August 23, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High St., Berlin, NH. Mrs. Simonne C. Caouette
Mrs. Simonne (Moreau) Caouette, 82, formerly of Northern Lights, 25 Success St, Berlin, passed away Tuesday night, October 7, 2003 at the Coos County Nursing Home where she had been residing.
She was born in Berlin on July 5, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Agloie Lamontagne Moreau. A lifelong resident of Berlin, she was employed as a machine operator for the Granite State Converse Rubber Company. She was a member of the St. Anne Parish, now known as Good Shepherd Parish, the Ladies of St. Anne and the St. Anne Social Club.
Serving as an officer for several organizations, she was also a member of MESH, TOPS, the Golden Age Club and a life member of the Local 75. Mrs. Caouette was a local tour director for 30 years and a volunteer at the Coos County Nursing Home for 12 years. She was an avid crafts person.
She is survived by her two daughters, Annette and her husband Jeff Schomisch of Landover Hills, Md. and Lorraine and her husband Roger Baillargeon of Mesa, Ariz., one brother, Lucien Moreau of Berlin, three sisters, Doris Moreau and Irene DuMesnil of Berlin, and Lillian O'Day of New Britain, Conn., nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, by her husband, Arthur F. Caouette on March 15, 1986, her daughter Pauline Olson in 1972, and by her two sisters, Jeannette Bouchard and Annette Campbell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 11, at 11 a.m. at the St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Irene Alice Long
Irene Alice Long, 75, of Clearwater, Fla., formerly of Berlin, passed away on December 2, 2003 at University Hospital of Tampa following a recent illness.
She was born on June 24, 1928 in Berlin, the daughter of Alex and Laura (Long) Aubut. She married Leo Z. Long Sr. November 11, 1944 and together they raised seven children. She was a member of the former Guardian Angel Parish.
She enjoyed camping and the Longs owned and rented cottages at Songo Pond in Bethel, Me. for many years. She enjoyed bowling, swimming, playing cards, canning and bingo.
She is survived by her son, Albert and his wife Patty, of Colchester, Vt.; two grandsons and one great grandson; her daughter, Cecile and husband Butch, of The Villages, Fla.; two grandsons and one great grandson; her daughter, Cecile and husband Butch, of The Villages; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren; her son, Leo, Jr.. and his wife Rose of Dummer; two grandsons; her daughter, Rita of Tampa; one granddaughter and two great grandchildren; and her son, Richard, of Tampa.
She is survived by her brother, Edward Aubut, sister Alice Baillargeon, brother Wilfred Aubut, all of Berlin, and one brother Victor Aubut of Gorham.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leo Long, Sr., a son Michael, a daughter Claire, a son Paul, brothers Albert and Alec and sister Stella.
A funeral service is being planned for May 29, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Good Shepherd Parish with internment at Mt. Cavalry.
Robert A. Hickey, Sr.
LACONIA -- Robert A. Hickey Sr., passed away at the age of 87 on August 3, 2008, after failing health. He was the son of the late James F. and Mary (Ells) Hickey of Berlin.
He was raised in Berlin, moving to Laconia in 1940. He enlisted in the US Army and served as staff sergeant in the 387th Bombardment Squadron. After being honorably discharged in 1945, he returned to live in Laconia where he was employed at Scott & Williams, retiring in 1975.
Mr. Hickey was a resident of the NH Veteran's Home in Tilton for the last year and a half, where he enjoyed many activities.
He is survived by his children, Richard Hickey of Laconia, Carol Wilder of Ossipee, Connie Rafferty of Laconia, Susan Dath of Meredith and Robert Hickey, Jr., of Gilmanton; and his two sisters, Claire Vinaco and Eleanor Berube, both of Rhode Island.
He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Jennifer Hudgins of Virgiia, Michelle Marcotte of Colorado, Corey and Trevor Bisson of Laconia and Ariel Hoffman of Meredith; two great-grandchildren, Lilique Lacroix and Logan Hudgins and many nieces and nephews.
He also leaves a special friend, Eva Tattersall of Laconia and her family.
Mr. Hickey was predeceased by his daughter, Cathleen Shayeb of Laconia; brothers, Phillip and John Hickey; and sisters Margaret Laliberty, Frances Mann and Catherine Mann.
There will be no calling hours.
Friends and family are invited to attend memorial services in the chapel of the NH State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway Route 3, Boscawen, on Thursday, August 7, at 12 p.m., with the Rev. Michael C. Graham, pastor of the Gilford Community Church, officiating.

Lawrence A. Burt, Sr.
LANCASTER/JEFFERSON - Lawrence A. Burt Sr., 87, died at his home on Saturday August 2, 2008. Mr. Burt was born in Berlin on December 17, 1920, a son of Albion and Nellie (Powell) Burt.
Lawrence was a graduate of Berlin high School. He served with the United States Navy, decorated in his service during World War II. After that was he made his home in Lynn, Mass., where he raised his family and had a 43 year career as a jet engine mechanic for General Electric. After retirement ,he moved to his summer home in Jefferson. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was a member of Masonic Lodges in Lynn, Mass., and also the Odd Fellows in Lynn.
Family members include his wife, Ethelyn (Mortenson) Burt of Lancaster; four sons, Lawrence Burt, Jr., of Lynn, Mass., John Burt of Twin Mountain, James Burt and his wife Marilyn of Whitefield, and Steven Burt of Lancaster; one daughter, Donna Tameo and her husband Robert of Peabody, Mass.; a sister, Dorothy Keene and her husband Delbert of Berlin; and a sister in-law, Eleanor Burt of Lynn, Mass. He was predeceased by, his brother, Carleton Burt.
All services are private.

Jason Houle
BERLIN -- A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Jason Houle, of Berlin, on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish with Father Richard Roberge as celebrant. The cantor was Patti Berube, accompanied by Susan Ramsey as organist.
The pall was placed by his father, Andy Houle, and his mother, Joanne Giroux, his sister, Katie, and his son, Travis Houle. His sister, Katie Houle, placed the cross. Serving as readers were his aunts, Carol Arguin, and Lise Stanford. The offertory gifts were presented by his aunt, Sue Bourassa, his “favorite” niece, Jayden Perry, his son, Travis Houle ,and his grandmother, Louise Giroux. A eulogy was given by his sister, Katie Houle.
A graveside service followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were his uncle, Danny Giroux, his cousins, Jonathan Marino and Randy Bourassa and friends, Brian Laflamme, Chris Burke, Anthony “Ant” Horne, Eric Cloutier, Brock Costello, Joshua Coulombe, Kevin Marquis and Joe Chevarie.
Many friends and relatives attended the service from as far away as Tennessee, Vermont, and Colebrook.
Richard W. Anderson
FT. MYERS, FLA. -- Richard W. Anderson passed away April 24, 2008 at Hope Hospice in Ft. Myers, Fla.
Mr. Anderson, 76, was born in Somerville, Mass., to parents Ralph and Katherine O’Connell Anderson. He was educated in the Somerville, Mass., school system, served in the US Army in Korea and subsequently worked in the Bell Telephone Co. System for approximately 35 yrs., retiring in 1990. He lived in the Conway and Moultonboro areas and wintered at his home in Fort Myers, Fla.
Surviving Mr. Anderson are his wife Roberta, of Moultonboro; son, Gary, his wife Melissa, and grandsons Ethan and Gary of Sanbornton; five stepchildren, Mark, Russell and James Boisvert of Maine, Paula Boisvert of Florida., John Boisvert of New Hampshire; his brother, Ralph and wife Evelyn of Medford, Mass., and niece Gail Anderson of London, England.
A funeral Mass will be held June 25, at 10 am. at Our Lady of The Mountains Church in Intervale. Burial will follow the Mass in Conway NH Cemetary.
