Dean R. Bristol
ANSLEY - Dean Roy Bristol, 66, of Ansley died May 6, 2001, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
He was born Oct. 13, 1934, at Ansley to Ernest and Dorothy Miller Bristol. He attended country school and graduated from Ansley High School in 1952.
On Oct. 18, 1953, he married Maxine Gibreal at Kearney. They had lived on their farm near Ansley since 1961.
Mr. Bristol was a member of First Baptist Church in Ansley and was a deacon of the church. He enjoyed farming, hunting, reading western books and listening to Nebraska Cornhusker football.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Peggy (Jim) Sintek and Pam Bristol, both of Kearney; a son, Rick (Lisa) of Ansley; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; his mother of Kearney; two sisters, Phyllis (Loy) Branstiter of Overton and Melva (Walter) Florea of Texas; a brother, Max (Lenore) Bristol of Laramie, Wyo.; and a half-sister, Olive Schultz of Arcadia.
He was preceded in death by his father, two half-sisters and a half-brother.
Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church in Ansley and the Ansley Rescue Unit.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist Church in Ansley with the Revs. Victor Crawford and Steve Pence officiating. Burial will be in the Ansley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow.
Hall Edwards
Hall H. Edwards, 89, of North Platte died May 5, 2001, at Linden Court in North Platte.
He was born April 27, 1912, at Dorchester to Harvey Hayes and Minnie J. Hall Edwards. His family moved to Greeley, Colo., where he graduated from high school. His family later moved to Scottsbluff and he began trucking and hauling fruit. He and his father later owned H.H. Edwards Trucking Co.
On Dec. 19, 1939, he married E. Maxine Rath at Grand Island and they made their home in North Platte.
In January 1943, he joined the U.S. Army and was discharged in March 1946. He returned to North Platte.
Mr. Edwards was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 985 and P.R. Halligan American Legion Post 163.
Survivors include a sister, Betty (Wyman) Ogan of Alt, Colo.; four sisters-in-law, Eleanor Klassoff of Port Alberni, British Columbia, Thelma Wagner of Rapid City, S.D., and DeLores Yost and LaVonne (Larry) Fitzke, all of Harvard; and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife on Feb. 4, 2001; his parents; a sister, Helen Dias; and a brother, Bill Edwards.
A memorial has been established to BPO Elks 985.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Amy Jo Hawley officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery with military honors provided by the North Platte Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and prior to services Wednesday at Odean Colonial Chapel.
Garnet Maude King
CALLAWAY - Garnet Maude Harper King, 87, of Callaway died May 5, 2001, at the Callaway District Hospital.
She was born Dec. 19, 1913, to Hoagland and Myrtle Miller Harper in Sand Valley near Callaway. When she was 6 years old, her family moved to Brown Valley, where she graduated from grade school. She was distinguished to have scored the highest of all eighth-graders in Custer County on her exams. She graduated from Callaway High School in 1932. She was a switchboard operator for the local telephone company and also was a proof reader for the Loup Valley Queen.
On March 20, 1939, she married Hollis King from Hill City, Kan.
Mrs. King is survived by her husband; a daughter, Beverly (Michael) Scigliano of Stroudsburg, Pa.; a son, Clinton (Mary) of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; four grandchildren, Julie, David, Michael and Kristin; a great-grandchild, Callie; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Garlyn William Harper.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Rosehill Cemetery in Callaway with the Rev. Warthen T. Israel officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. today until service time at the Timm-Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Callaway.
Violet Raye Hueftle
LEXINGTON - Violet Raye Hueftle, 71, of Lexington died May 4, 2001, at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington.
She was born June 1, 1929, at Watsonville, Calif., to William E. and Nettie Amanda Sturdebaet Patten. She grew up in California and work 16 years for California Farm Products. She moved to Nebraska in 1978 to be near her brother.
In 1987, she married Harold Hueftle. He preceded her in death in 1997.
Mrs. Hueftle enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching television. She was also a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include five nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Maxine Johnson; a brother, Nolen Patten; and half-brothers and half-sisters.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Evergreen Cemetery at Lexington with the Rev. Joe Masten officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Henry Olson
ELSIE - Henry Olson, 91, a long-time farmer in the Elsie community, died May 5, 2001, at his daughter's home in Eustis.
He was born Oct. 26, 1909, northwest of Elsie to Oscar and Bina Oman Olson. He grew up on the farm and attended country school.
On Aug. 28, 1933, he married Christiana Johnson at North Platte.
They lived in Logan County until 1938, when they returned to the farm northwest of Elsie. After his wife's death in 1997, he lived on his farm until 1999 and he then moved to his daughter's home in Eustis.
Mr. Olson is survived by three daughters, LaVilla (Marvin) Quandt of Grand Island, Gaylene (Larry) Snell of York and Joyce (Lloyd) Walker of Eustis; three sons, Francis (Diane) of North Platte, Lewis (Jean) of Lakewood, Colo., and Mark (Sheila), who live on the Olson farmstead northwest of Elsie; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby (Leon) McQueen of Elsie.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at the Grant Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Pierce officiating. Burial will be in the Elsie Cemetery.
