Dorothea Sixberry
MADRID - Dorothea Sixberry, formerly of Casper, Wyo., died April 27, 2001, at the Chase County Hospital in Imperial. She was 86.
She was born March 11, 1915, in Ontario, Canada, to John and Marion Bernier Van Norman. The family moved to Mitchell, S.D., when she was a young girl. They later moved to Rapid City, S.D., where she attended high school. She went to Normal College in Billings, Mont.
On Nov. 30, 1935, she married Benjamin Wirch. He preceded her in death in 1962.
In 1967, she married Ralph Sixberry in Casper, Wyo. He died in 1976.
She worked at the Natrona County Justice Court in Casper from 1963 until 1972. After her retirement, she was an active volunteer for the Casper Senior Center. In 1997, she moved to the Imperial Manor Nursing Home to be closer to her daughter.
Mrs. Sixberry is survived by a daughter, Katy Mlyamoto of Madrid; two sons, Richard (Sandra) Wirch of Madrid and David Wirch of Pueblo, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated. No further services are planned. The cremains will be buried at a later date in the Madrid Cemetery.

Virginia L. Wells
LEXINGTON - Virginia Wells, 76, of rural Lexington died April 26, 2001, at her home.
She was born May 26, 1924, at Palisade to Earl and Verna Cross Waldridge. She attended Blackwood rural school near Arapahoe and graduated from Lexington High School in 1942.
On Nov. 8, 1942, she married Stanley Wells. They lived in Lexington and for a brief time in Georgia, before moving to the family farm northwest of Lexington in 1946. She and her husband were awarded the Nebraska Pioneer Family Farm Award for 100 continuous years with the same family farm.
She worked at Hazel's Town and Country Store, the Lexington State Bank and the Westside Care Home.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women, the American Legion Auxiliary, Rural Youth Organization, an extension club and she volunteered her time with the Red Cross and Meal on Wheels.
Mrs. Wells is survived by her husband; a daughter, Carol (Gary) Thinnes of Idaho Falls, Idaho; a son, Jim (Jean) of Lexington; a sister, Emogene Ristine of Gothenburg; a brother, Addison (Helen) Waldridge of Arapahoe; six grandchildren, Dennis (Kim) and Dionne Wells, Debra (Mike) Bossung and Scott (Kristi), Ben (Katherina) and Mark Thinnes; two stepgrandchildren, Dereik (Jessie) and David Hardesty; and six great-grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, Jennifer and Matthew Wells and Jacob and Zachary Bossung.
She was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Bernard Ristine.
A memorial has been established.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Lexington with the Rev Steve Deines officiating. Burial will be in the Hewitt Cemetery northwest of Lexington.
The casket will not be opened. Those wishing to sign the memorial book may do so from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
Alberta Marie Anderson
ARNOLD - Alberta Marie Anderson, 78, of Arnold died April 26, 2001, at her home.
She was born Sept. 6, 1922, at the family farm in Powell Canyon to Edward H. and Nellie Mae Ransier Koch. She graduated from Arnold High School in 1940.
On Sept. 5, 1942, she married Robert E. Anderson. They rented several small farms in the Arnold area until 1953, when they moved to Boise, Idaho where they spent two years before returning to the Koch farm in Powell Canyon, where they lived until moving to town in the early 1980's.
She worked at numerous jobs to help support the family. She was a bookkeeper in 1968 for Conley-Detlefson Truck Stop in North Platte until she retired in 1984. She stayed busy during her retirement years having pitch parties in her basement. She made yearly trips to the East Coast to visit her grandchildren. She also managed the Riverview Apartments in Arnold until 1998.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband; a son, Rodney (Donna) of Upland; a son-in-law, Ron Boston of Elm Creek, four granddaughters, Ronda (Terry) Broadfoot and Karri Boston, all of Kearney, Jo Lyn (Brian) Erbe of Wall, N.J., and Robin (Dan) Crowley of Elm Creek; two grandsons, Rick Boston of Omaha and Shane Flint of Southern Pine, N.C.; a sister, Thressa "Tret" Morrison of Lincoln; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicky; her parents; three sisters; and three brothers.
Memorials are suggested to the Custer County Hospice, Arnold Baptist Church or the donor's choice.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Arnold. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Arnold Funeral Home.
Helen Hartman
PAXTON - Helen I. Hartman, 101, of Paxton died April 27, 2001, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
She was born April 23, 1900, at Fullerton to Alfonzo and Bertha Erickson McCormick. When she was in high school her parents moved to a farm south of Paxton. She graduated from North Platte High School in 1918 with a diploma in normal training. She taught school near Brule and also taught at Paxton Public School.
In 1921, she married George E. Hartman. They lived in Sarben where they owned a general store and later moved to a farm north of Paxton, where she lived until moving to Integrated Health Services in Sutherland in 1999.
Mrs. Hartman was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was an active member of the Trinity Lutheran Church at Paxton. She taught Sunday school and was an officer in the Women of the ELCA and the church circle. She and her husband were members of a quartet and they sang for church services for many years.
Survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Price and Marge Hatheway; a son, George (Emily); seven grandchildren, Pamela (Larry) Jones of Topeka, Kan., Tamara Hatheway of Kansas City, Mo., James (Peggy) Hatheway and Kirk (Linda) Hartman, both of Lincoln, Dick (LaVonne) Ashwood of Scottsbluff, Linda (Jack) Faddis of Evanston, Wyo., and John (Kathy) Hartman of Grand Island; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two grandchildren; her parents; and a brother, Clarence McCormick.
Memorials are suggested to the Paxton Trinity Church or the Paxton Public Library.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Paxton with the Rev. Doniver Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Paxton Cemetery.

Lela G. Padgett
CURTIS - Lela G. Padgett, 79, of Curtis died April 28, 2001, at North Platte.
She was born July 16, 1921, at Peyton, Colo., to Daniel J. and Alpha May Brose Lamb. She grew up in Colorado. She graduated from Ellicot (Colo.) High School in 1939.
On July 9, 1940, she married James "Jack" Padgett at Raton, N.M. He preceded her in death Feb. 2, 1985.
They moved to North Platte in 1984 and she lived here until 1986. She then moved to Garden City, Kan., and lived there until 1990, at which time she moved to Curtis.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and St. John's Lutheran Church in Curtis. She was a former member of the Wranglerets Horse Drill Team. She liked the outdoors including horseback riding, fishing and hunting. She also enjoyed her best friend, her dog "Cuddles."
Mrs. Padgett is survived by two daughters, Janet (Harold) Vass of Cozad and Cindy (Gary) Nelson of Curtis; two sons, Ron (Rhonda) of Lexington and Gary (Colleen) of Maywood; a brother, Woodrow Lamb of National City, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; good friends, Zala Stineman, Bonnie Baine and Helen Nelson; and all of the Frontier Village residents.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Jacqueline; a son, James; her parents; four sisters; and six brothers.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Lutheran Church in Curtis with the Rev. Paul Warneke officiating. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Blase-Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis.
Mary Ellen Anderson
GRAND ISLAND - Mary Ellen Anderson, 78, of Grand Island died April 1, 2001, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
She was born Oct. 6, 1922, to Victor S. and Irma Healea Cram at Tekamah. She grew up in Oakdale and graduated from Oakdale High School in 1940. She then went on to Norfolk Business College for a year.
In 1943, she married Joseph Maschi. In 1950, she married Durl Anderson.
Mrs. Anderson worked at the U.S. government printing office in Washington, D.C. She also worked in food service, secretarial and sales fields in the Grand Island area and at the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program.
Survivors include seven daughters, Bobbie Carlson of Omaha, JoAnn Hauch of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gerrie Roberson and Sheila Anderson, both of Grand Island, Becky Killian of Alda, and Brenda Anderson and Shelley Lehl, both of North Platte; a son, Dennis of Holdrege; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Margaret (Ray) Magwire of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Zachary Lehl; and a brother, Edwin J. Cram.
Memorials may be made to the St. Francis Cancer Treatment Center, the Grand Generation Center or the Alda United Methodist Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island with the Rev. Rose Bartleson officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Violet Caudy
OGALLALA - Violet Mildred Caudy, 92, of Ogallala died March 31, 2001, at Indian Hills Manor in Ogallala.
She was born Nov. 13, 1908, in Kearney to Norman and Lillian Vath Harp. She graduated from Kearney High School and attended Kearney State Teachers College. She taught rural school north of Keystone.
On April 3, 1929, she married Vern Caudy in Kearney. The couple made their home on a ranch in Arthur County. In 1952, they moved to Ogallala and in 1958 they moved to Keystone. In 1976, they sold the ranch and continued to live in Keystone. Her husband died in 1986. She moved to Ogallala Village in 1988, and then to Indian Hills Manor in 1998.
She was a member of the Keystone Presbyterian Church. She played the piano and was a soloist for worship services.
Mrs. Caudy is survived by a daughter, Mildred (Ralph) Smith of Westminster, Colo.; a son, William "Buck" (Dora) Caudy of Paxton; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Caudy of Ogallala; nine grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Wesley Caudy in 1991; a brother, Francis Harp; two infant sons; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials are suggested to the Keystone Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Draucker Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Duane Dunwoody officiating. Burial will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at the Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.
Delmer M. Fredricey
LEXINGTON - Delmer M. Fredricey, 84, of Lexington died March 30, 2001, at the Bryan LGH East Medical Center in Lincoln.
He was born Oct. 21, 1916, at Sedgwick, Colo., to John Freeman and Estella Millett Fredricey. As a young boy, he moved to Portland, Ore., and then to Seattle until joining the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Feb. 13, 1947, he married Lina C. Matteucci at San Miniato, Italy. They returned to the United States, and he began a 33-year career working as yard clerk at Union Pacific Railroad in North Platte. After retirement, they moved to Lexington to be closer to their daughters.
He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid reader and enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with family.
Mr. Fredricey is survived by his wife of 54 years; three daughters, Patricia Fredricey and Maria (Gary) Weddel, both of Kearney, and Elizabeth (Robert) Waterman of Lexington; a sister, Patricia Moul of North Platte; seven grandchildren, Amy Divine, Anna, Paula and Christopher Weddel, Joseph and David Waterman and Kayla Fredricey; and five great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Anisha, P.J., Braydon and Logan.
He was preceded in death by a son, John Joseph; his parents; a sister, Charlene Lee; and a brother, Billy.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the North Platte Catholic School Foundation.
Wake service will be at 7 p.m. today at the Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington with the Rev. Don Buhrman officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. in Fort McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
