SUN CITY, Ariz. - Rev. Clarence Buehler, 85, who served as pastor for the Alliance Methodist Church from 1971 to 1981, died Tuesday, Aug. 8

Steve Lee, 44
GORDON - Steve Lee, 44, died Thursday, Aug. 10, at Gordon.
Steve was born Aug. 15, 1961, at Ogallala, to Dale and Karen Lee.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at the United Methodist Church, with Pastors Corey Jenkins and Mike Humphrey officiating.
Burial will be at the Gordon cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Cicmanec-Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home.

Tidus Johnston, Infant
OMAHA - Tidus Dean Johnston passed away Saturday, July 22, 2006.
He was born Monday, July 10, 2006, to Dr. Casey and April Johnston.

Johnny Sanderson, 66
LITTLETON, Colo. - Johnny W. Sanderson, 66, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, at a Pueblo, Colo., medical center.
He was born Nov. 2, 1939, at Alliance, to John and Valda (Zutavern) Sanderson.
He grew up in various communities in Western Nebraska, and graduated from Alliance High School in 1958.
Johnny married Jean Hanson on June 7, 1959, at Wallace. They lived the majority of their married life at Littleton, where he served as a manager for Honeywell.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at the Wallace United Methodist Church, with Pastor Anne Gatobu officiating.
Burial will be in the Wallace Cemetery.

Beverly J. Watson, 77
CHEYENNE, Wyo. - Beverly J. Watson, 77, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, at the United Medical Center West.
She was born March 19, 1929, at Alliance, to Joe and Reba Falfar.
She was married to Tom Watson on June 17, 1948, at Alliance. She grew up at Alliance, and moved to Scottsbluff in 1954, and to Cheyenne in 1964.
Beverly was a member of X-JWC and Newcomers.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Her memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Schrader Chapel, 2323 Carey, Ave., Cheyenne, with Fr. Tim Solon officiating. Cremation will be at Schrader's Sunset Park Crematory.
Memorials may be sent to Meals-on-Wheels, 2015 S. Greeley Hwy., Cheyenne, WY 82007, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Estella Hazard, 90
ALLIANCE - Estella May Hazard, 90, passed away Friday, July 29, 2006, at Highland Park Care Center.
Estella was born Oct. 15, 1915, to Ray and Iva (Lewis) Loss at Magnolia, Iowa.
She moved to the panhandle of Nebraska in her younger years. She attended country school in Box Butte County. She moved to Chadron along with her older sister to attended high school, where she graduated from Chadron High School with the class of 1933.
She was married to Bernard Lierman, May 4, 1934, at Gering. To that union one child, Betty Jean, was born on Oct. 26, 1935, but sadly passed away Dec. 11, 1935. After Stella and Barney parted and went their separate ways, she moved to the west coast.
While living in the Vancouver, Wash., area she worked in the shipyards in the 1940's during the war. She later took a position for Jansen Sports Wear as a seamstress.
Stella was married to Phillip G. Hazard May 16, 1959, at Pomeroy, Wash. They made there home at Ravenna where Phil worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad and she was a homemaker. They moved backed to Alliance in 1973, where she called home for the rest of her life.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Alliance Garden Club, Alliance Bowling Association, Extension Card Club and BN Spouse Card Club. In later years she was a member of Railroad Retirement Association, and RSVP.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2, at the First Christian Church, with Rev. Walter Cline officiating.
Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to The American Cancer Society or donor's choice.

Patricia Planansky
BOISE, Idaho - Pat Wightman Planansky, former Lakeside and Alliance resident, died Aug. 22, 2006.
She was the daughter of Walt and Nell Wightman.
In the late 1940's, she was employed by the City of Alliance Utilities Office.
Randall Hansen, 39
BOONE, Iowa - Randall Hansen, 39, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006.
He was born July 19, 1967, at Alliance, to James and Sharon (Piihl) Hansen.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1986 to 1989 and was recalled for active duty during the Gulf War in 1990.
On March 8, 1998, he married InSun Colerick at Ames, Iowa. Randy worked as a locomotive engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad for the past 8 years.
Randy's hobbies included working on small engines, spending time doing outdoor activities and being with his daughter.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at the Bates-Gould Chapel, with Greg Carter officiating.

Sherman Laursen, 85
ALLIANCE - Sherman Laursen, 85, died Aug. 22, 2006, at Highland Park Care Center.
He was born in Box Butte County on Nov. 12, 1920, to Marius and Martha (Petersen) Laursen. He married Frances Merrick on June 10, 1944. Sherman was a lifetime area farmer and rancher.
He was a member of St. John's United Lutheran Church.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at St. John's United Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bill Buschbom officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.
The family would prefer memorials be given to St. John's United Lutheran Church or to Prairie Haven Hospice.

William Bauman, 82
RAWLINS, Wyo. - William Walter "Bill" Bauman, 82, the longtime Rawlins optometrist and businessman, former school board member and legislator, died peacefully at Memorial Hospital of Carbon County on Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, with wife Irene and granddaughter Lisa at his side.
Bill was born at Alliance, on May 28, 1924, the son of Bernard G. and Leona Bauman.
He attended St. Agnes Academy and Alliance High School, then graduated from Regis Academy at Denver in 1942. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in New Jersey. He received an honorable discharge in 1946.
Bill began his optometry training while in the Navy, and completed his Doctorate of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry at Chicago in 1948. He began his practice at Cody, Wyo.
In the spring of 1950 he met Irene Kozeluh, who was working as a nurse at Cody. They were married Sept. 30, 1950. He later commented, "To this day I don't know if I caught her or she caught me, but either way, I won." They and the first three of five children - Bill, Tim and Chris - moved to Sheridan, where the twins, Debbie and Don, were born.
From there the family moved to Rawlins, where Bill practiced until his retirement in 1986. Bill was active in the Elks, Lions and Knights of Columbus organizations at Rawlins, and was an active member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He also was a Scout Master for many years. Bill supported the community by serving three terms on the school board, where he often said, "the best way to lose patients is to serve on the school board."
During his term as school board president, he oversaw completion of the new Rawlins High School and auditorium. Bill also served multiple terms on the Wyoming Optometric Board, and followed this up with a term in the House of Representatives in Wyoming Legislature in 1977 and 1978. Al Simpson once said Bill was "the only guy I've seen who played his harmonica on the legislative floor."
A Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Fr. Steve Hays officiating. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Bill Bauman may be made to the Society of St. Vincent DePaul in care of St. Joseph's Catholic Church; or to St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Box 68, Rawlins, WY 82301.
