Karen Dallegge 1956-2004
Karen Dallegge, 47, Big Springs, Neb., died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004 at her home following a long battle with cancer. Memorial services will be held Wednesday, March 3 at the Big Springs United Methodist Church with Pastors Bonnie McCord and Duane Dunwoody officiating. Cremation has taken place, and her cremains will be scattered by the family at a later date.
Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant, Neb. is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials have been established.
Karen Dallegge was born Oct. 22, 1956 in Sidney, the daughter of Edward and Marian (Roberts) Mather. Her family relocated to Montana when she was young but returned to Gurley where Karen graduated from high school in 1975.
After graduation, she married Robert Adams in Sidney. To this union three sons were born. The family resided in Peetz, Colo.
Karen married Lonnie Dallegge in Big Springs on Dec. 21, 1996. The couple owned and managed the Big Springs Equipment dealership.
Karen developed cancer in October of 2001.
She was a member of the Martin Bay Community Church and also attended the Big Springs United Methodist Church and belonged to the Sarah Circle. Karen participated in a cancer support group in Julesburg, Colo. and was affiliated with an amputee support group from Omaha, Neb.
Survivors include her husband, Lonnie of Big Springs; sons, Matt Adams and fiance Alicia Lockhorn of Big Springs, Jonathan Adams stationed in Ft. Jackson, S.C. and Mark Adams of Peetz; two step-sons, Leon and Marty Dallegge; mother, Marian Mather of Gurley; two sisters and one brother; and one grandson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Mather and an infant son, Stephen.
Jeanette Biberos 1928-2004
Jeanette Biberos, 75, Kimball, Neb., left this world Tuesday, March 2, 2004 to be with the Lord. She passed away at her home while in the presence of her husband and family. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
A rosary service will be today at 7 p.m. at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball. A funeral mass will be held Friday, March 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Fr. Karnish officiating. Interment will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. A dinner and tribute to the memory of this fine woman is scheduled for the evening of Friday, March 5 at the 4-H building. Time to be announced. Friends are welcome.
Jeanette was born April 30, 1928 in Pine Ridge, S.D., the daughter of Anna and Edwin Goodshield. She had four brothers and three sisters.
On Feb. 19, 1946, Jeanette married a war-hero, John Biberos, whom she met only two weeks before in Bridgeport, Neb. The couple recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary. Mrs. Biberos moved to Gurley in 1950 with her husband and small family where they lived until settling in Kimball in 1960. The family grew. The house got bigger. The love in her heart was immense. Warmth and laughter abounded.
Jeanette was a loving, faithful wife and a tireless, devoted mother. She was also a talented singer. Music and song filled the days of her life. John and Jeanette were a perfect duet.
She was a gifted seamstress and cook. As a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, she was also a dedicated servant of God and taught her children the ways of the Lord from the first day of their lives until the last day of hers.
Survivors include her husband, John Biberos of Kimball; sisters, Grace Briggs of Allen, S.D. and Marie Hawkins of Rapid City, S.D.; brothers, Paul Goodshield of Sioux Falls, S.D. and Bud Waters of Pine Ridge; daughters, Teresa Bunner of Gurley, Carlota Johnson of Gurley, Jenifer Fischer of Sidney, Anita Robinson of Grand Island, Neb. and Juanita Biberos of Kimball; sons, Bracilio Biberos of Kimball, Albert Biberos of Kimball, Ramon Biberos of Scottsbluff, Mario Biberos of Kimball and Arnulfo Biberos of Sidney; 20 granddaughters; 21 grandsons; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. We all feel blessed and honored that she was a part of our lives.
Mrs. Biberos was preceded in death by her sister, Theresa; brothers, Mickey and Eddie; grandson, Juaquine and son, Angelo.
We know that the Lord has prepared a table for her and we have joy in our hearts for her as we look forward to seeing her once again in the House that the Lord has built. May the Lord bless her and keep her, amen.
Emily Triska 1904-2004
Emily Triska, 99, of Ogallala and formerly of Sidney, died on Friday, Feb. 27, 2004 at Indian Hills Manor.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at Draucker Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Pierce officiating.
A memorial has been established in her memory. Interment will be in the Ogallala Cemetery.

Emily was born on August 19, 1904 in Keith County, Neb., the fifth child of William and Mary Johnson Davison. She was raised in Keith County and attended country schools before the family moved into Ogallala.
She graduated from Ogallala High School in 1923 from the old West Ward building. Emily studied education at Kearney State Teachers College before teaching in one-room schools in eastern Wyoming and at Sarben, Neb. for one year each.
She taught at Paxton for five years and married fellow teacher, Clarence Triska. The couple moved to Bondurant, N.D. where he taught at the Forestry School. The family moved back to Nebraska, living in McCook and Scottsbluff before settling in Sidney.
Mrs. Triska was very active in the Sidney Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile. She enjoyed reading, playing the organ, and cooking for her family. Emily was a devoted wife and mother, caring for her invalid son Billy in their home for forty years. In later years she enjoyed attending dances in Sidney and Sterling, Colo. and sponsored several dances at the Sidney Senior Center for all to attend.
In 1999 Mrs. Triska moved to Ogallala to live with her niece Eleanor Ruzanic. In 2003 she went to recuperate from hip surgery at Indian Hills Manor.
Survivors include nieces Eleanor Roe Ruzanic of Ogallala, Norma Davison Austin of Bremerton, Wash., Madeline Roe Aufdengarten formerly of Sidney and now of Crete, Neb., and Marylu Davison Tignor of Atoka, Oka.; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families; and special friend Maureen Luxa of Sidney.
Preceding her in death was her husband Clarence Triska, son Billy Triska, an infant son, brother Brunce Davison, sisters Maggie Dittmar, Ruth Roe Brooking, and infant sister Lydia Davison.
Gloria Ann (Kretz) Pisetti 1927-2004
Gloria Ann (Kretz) Pisetti, 76, Sacramento, Calif. and formerly of Sidney, died Feb. 9, 2004 from lung cancer. A memorial mass was held at All Hallows Catholic Church in Sacramento.
Gloria was born March 23, 1927 in Sidney, the daughter of Winfield and Caroline (Roth) Kretz.
She married Nilo Pisetti on July 5, 1944. To this union, four children were born.
Gloria was an accountant in Stockton and Sacramento.
Survivors include her daughters, Janet Ashber and Linda duCray, both of Sacramento; son, Peter of Sacramento; sister, Carolyn (Kretz) Hopkins of Fayetteville, N.C.; cousins, Marcheta Thurston, Rudell Stormberg, Joan Scheurman and Marilyn (Kretz) Booth, all of Cheyenne County; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Nilo, Jr. and brother, Leonard.
Joel G. ‘Andy’ Anderson 1912-2004
Joel G. ‘Andy’ Anderson, 91, of Sidney went to be with his Lord late Wednesday evening, March 3, 2004 at Memorial Health Center, Extended Care in Sidney. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, March 8 at the Evangelical Free Church in Sidney with Pastor Doug Birky officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Highland Cemetery in Denver. The family has designated the Evangelical Free Church as the memorial. There is no public visitation although friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday to sign the register book.
Joel Gilbert Anderson was born Aug. 10, 1912 at Greeley, Colo., the son of Carl A. and Bina (Andersson) Anderson. He was raised and attended school in Greeley. Following his graduation from high school Andy attended business college in Chillicothe, Mo. He was married to Dorothy Jeanette Snyder on Jan. 28, 1939 at Cheyenne, Wyo. They lived in the Denver area where Andy worked as an office manager and salesman for Archway Cookies and was a realtor in the Denver area. They attended LIFE Fellowship Church in Denver. Andy played golf and was fortunate to score a hole in one. He and his wife traveled extensively during retirement. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, his love for being with people, and a good game of pool. They moved to Sidney in 1999. They were members of the Evangelical Free Church in Sidney. Andy’s wife Dorothy passed away March 23, 2003. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and one son-in-law.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Joellen and the late Jim Eaves of Cookeville, Tenn. and Sally and Jim Dickman of Sidney; son Dr. Charles Anderson of Marietta, Ga.; two grandsons, Jim and wife Angie Dickman and Michael Dickman all of Sidney; three step grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and their families.

Gerald Francis Stengel 1923-2004
Gerald “Jerry” Francis Stengel, 80, of Gering died Monday, March 8, 2004 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff surrounded by his loved ones.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 12, at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Gerald Harr officiating. A vigil service will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel.
Interment will be at Oregon Trail Memorial Park Cemetery in Bridgeport with military honors. Memorials have been established to the VFW of Scottsbluff or Leukemia Association. Visitation will be today from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Gering Memorial Chapel.
Gerald was born December 18, 1923 in Sutton, Neb. to George and Elsie (Andersen) Stengel. He moved from Sutton to Bridgeport in the late 30’s. Jerry entered the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He married Alice Miles of Sidney on June 14, 1948 in Harrisburg. They lived in Bridgeport and raised their children. He pitched for the Dalton Merchants baseball from 1947-1957. In 1968, they moved to Gering, where he was a carpenter for 30 years and retired from Rusch Construction.
Alice was the love of his life of 55 years, where they both went on fishing trips together and did other outdoor activities. Jerry loved to go out to the ballparks and watched his children and grandchildren play softball and soccer. He was also a devoted husker fan and loved the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include his wife Alice, Gering; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Robert Parker, Cheyenne, Wyo., daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Randy Homer, Lincoln, son Jerry “Butch” Stengel, Gering, son John Stengel, Terrytown, daughter Mary Stengel, Cheyenne, daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Mike “Dingus” McKee, Gering, son and daughter-in-law Scott and Bobbie Stengel, Scottsbluff; 16 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister and two sons.
Harold William Hyde 1917-2004
Harold William Hyde, 86, a long-time Cheyenne County resident, passed away at his home in Sidney on March 9, 2004 whilst surrounded by his immediate family.
Private inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit the Holechek Funeral Home to sign a remembrance book on Thursday, March 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Memorial Health Center Hospice.
Harold was born August 6, 1917 in Lincoln, Neb., the first son of John William and Eleanor McNiff Hyde. The family moved to a farm in the Weyerts community north of Lodgepole in l918. Harold graduated from Lodgepole High School in 1934 and attended Hastings Business College. In l935, he became employed by Tri-County Public Power and moved to Ogallala for the Kingsley Dam, Lake McConaughy Project.
He married Thelma Irene Hayford of Ogallala on May 7, l939 in Chappell. They moved to Washington D.C. in the spring of l941. Harold worked in the War Department until he returned to Lodgepole in l943, where he farmed for the remainder of his life, moving to Sidney in l957.
Harold is survived by his wonderful special friend, Frances Barnes of Sidney; daughters, Barbara Kerl Kamm of Albuquerque, N.M., Diane Smith of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Cheri O’Kelly of Ashland, Neb.; sons, Dean of Lodgepole and William of Austin, Texas; brothers, Donald of Lodgepole and Gerald of Fort Collins, Colo.; sisters, Genevieve Epstein of Denver, Colo. and Eleanor Sheldon of Washburn, N.D.; sons-in-law Seymour Kamm, Newman Smith and Dennis O’Kelly and daughter-in-law, Sharon Hyde. Harold was also blessed with seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Harold’s parents and wife preceded him in death.
Elizabeth (Goding) Andersen 1916-2004
Elizabeth (Goding) Andersen, 88, of Sidney, died Monday, March 8, 2004 at the Memorial Health Center in Sidney.
A Celebration of her life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 13, in the First United Methodist Church in Sidney with the Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Potter Cemetery at Potter.
Friends may call on Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with the family present from 4 to 8 p.m. at Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
Memorials have been established to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Midlands Chapter or the American Diabetes Association.
Elizabeth Goding, the daughter of William and Cora (Brothers) Goding was born February 3, 1916 in Potter. She grew up in Potter and graduated from Potter High School and then attended Chadron State College. She taught in the rural schools.
On June 6, 1937 she married Roy Andersen in Potter. They lived on a farm in the Sidney Draw until they moved to Beverly Health Care in December of 2001. She made many craft items with yarn and many Raggedy Andy and Annie dolls, some going as far away as Japan and other foreign countries.
Elizabeth was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, the Mutual Improvement Club of West Sidney Draw, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Jean Grothe and husband Kenneth of Danville, Ill.; two sons, Mark Andersen of Claypool, Ariz. and Gary Andersen and wife Beverly of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Leota Sarraf and Lillian Nielsen.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy in August of 2003; one grandson, Troy Andersen; two brothers; two sisters, and her parents.
