Mae Gorman 1917-2002

Mae Gorman, 85, a long-time Sidney resident, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002 at the Lutheran Hospice in Arvada, Colo. Funeral services and internment will be today at 3 p.m. at the Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery in Arvada.
Mae M. McCluer was born May 6, 1917 in Pine Bluffs, Wyo., the daughter of Edgar and Myrtle McCluer. She attended schools in Wyoming and Nebraska.
Mae married Harry Gorman Feb. 7, 1934 in Sidney.
Survivors include five daughters, Marie and husband Wayne Dixon of Fayetteville, Ark.; Beth Paris of Sidney; Cindy and husband Paul Krueger of Arvada; Dee and husband Ron Pitsley of Rogers, Ark.; Beverly and husband Tom Burke of Arvada and one son, Jim Gorman and wife Ann of Aurora, Colo.; brother, Buster McCluer of Vancouver, Wash.; sister, Edna Anderson of Longmont, Colo.; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and three grandchildren.

Mabel Cobb 1913-2002

Mabel Cobb, 89, Sidney, died Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2002 at Memorial Health Center Extended Care in Sidney. Funeral services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Holechek Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Brestel officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Memorials have been established to MHC Extended Care.
Mabel Esther Cobb was born Oct. 29, 1913 in Garber, Okla., the daughter of George and Mathilda (Warpel) Schreiber. She grew up and attended school there. Mabel then went to work for Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City, Okla. It was there she met Delzie Cobb and on Nov. 4, 1944 they were united in marriage in Oklahoma City. The couple moved to Sidney in the early 1950s, where Delzie worked for the railroad.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Nightingale and husband Duane of Sidney; sister, Viola Moore of Garber; three grandchildren, Billy Nightingale and wife Vickie of Sidney, Shane Nightingale and wife Shannon of Sidney and Staci Schumacher and husband Glen of Greeley, Colo. and four great-grandchildren, Dustin and Mason Nightingale of Sidney and Morgan and Bailey Schumacher of Greeley.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers and sisters and her husband, Delzie.

Faith Troutman 1928-2002

Faith Troutman, 74 of Kimball, died Friday evening, Oct 18, 2002 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, in the Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Dwayne Hunzeker of the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball officiating.
Memorials have been established to the donorís choice.
There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Holechek Funeral Home of Sidney is in charge of arrangements.
Faith I. Troutman, the daughter of William and Agnes (Hess) Baker was born July 14, 1928 at Eustis, Neb. She moved with her family to Mitchell, Neb. where she attended school, graduating from Mitchell High School. She then attended Beauty School in McCook, Neb. After her schooling, she came to Sidney to work as a beautician.
It was in Sidney that she met Leland Troutman and they were married on Dec. 19, 1951 in Sidney. They lived in Sidney before moving to Seattle, Wash. They returned to western Nebraska in 1958, settling in Kimball, Neb. where they resided at the time of her death.
Faith was a member of the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball.
Survivors include her husband, Leland of Kimball; one daughter, Lori Lee Broskey of Kimball, one sister, Bonnie Nelson of Lander, Wyo. two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters preceded her in death.

Anthony Thomas Martindale

Anthony Thomas Martindale, the infant son of Lori Berlis and Joshua Martindale, died Monday, Oct. 14 at the Bryan L.G.H. West Hospital in Lincoln. His funeral will be Friday at 3 p.m. at the Holechek Funeral Home in Chappell with Father Marty Egging officiating. Burial will follow in the Chappell Cemetery. Holechek Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Richard and Pamela Martindale and Steven and Corrine Fischer, all of Chappell and aunts and uncles, Jacqueline, Jessica and Justine Martindale, Randy, Jaclyn and Shelby Selby and Heather and Jordan Fischer.
Anthony was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Robert Rovetti and uncle, Anthony Berlis.

Gina M. Buttle 1966-2002

Gina M. Buttle, 36, Lodgepole, died Friday, Oct. 11 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. Memorial services will be today at 3 p.m. at the New Hope Fellowship Church in Lodgepole with Pastor Dave McDonald officiating. A private family inurment will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney is in charge of arrangements.
There will be no visitation.
A memorial fund has been established to help the family with expenses. Contributions may be made to the Gina Buttle Fund, C/O Adams Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 97, Lodgepole, NE 69149.
Gina Marie Buttle was born May 17, 1966 in Riverside, Calif., the daughter of Richard and Rose (Rameriz) Ross. On July 19, 1996, she was united in marriage to Lonny Buttle in Showlow, Ariz.
Gina held many different occupations during her life. She had been a business entrepreneur, a bookkeeper for Gerald’s Auto and Body Shop in Lodgepole and as a Court Work Sentence Coordinator in the Apache County Probation Department in Arizona. Gina had been attending Western Nebraska Community College in Sidney for the past year and was very active in her church, serving as worship leader at New Hope Fellowship.
She loved her family and friends and was a pillar of strength and faith for all who knew her, and a devoted mother to her children.
Survivors include her husband, Lonny of Lodgepole; father, Richard Ross of Seattle, Wash.; step-father, Leo Loera of Vernon, Ariz.; parents-in-law, Vance and Barbara Duncan of Sidney; sons, Caleb and Aaron Buttle of Lodgepole; daughters, Rachel and Samantha Buttle of Lodgepole; brother, Michael Haas of Temecula, Calif and sister, Andrea Ross of Seattle, Wash.
Gina was preceded in death by her mother and brother, Edward Ross.

Warren Nelson 1920-2002

Warren Nelson, 82, of Sidney, died Sunday evening, Oct. 13 at the Memorial Health Center Extended Care in Sidney.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 18 in the Potter United Methodist Church with Pastor Mary Frohs officiating. Burial will be in the Potter Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the Potter Rescue Unit.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at the Holechek Funeral Home in Sidney.
Warren Theodore Nelson, the sixth child born to Vernon A. and Mary S. (Larson) Nelson, was born on July 30, 1920 on the family farm southwest of Potter. He attended grade school at District No. 82 and then attended the Potter Public Schools from grade nine through 12th, graduating from the Potter High School.
He attended a trade school in Laramie, Wyo. where he became a welder and worked at Lockheed Aircraft in Burbank, Calif. in 1941 and 1942. He met Betty J. Mick of Sidney in California and they married in Monterey Park, Calif. on Nov. 7, 1942. To this union three children were born: Dennis Warren, Ricky William and Jo Ann.
In 1943 they returned to Potter to help on the family farm, where he and Betty made their home until they moved to Lake Montezuma, Ariz. in 1974. They returned to make their home in Sidney in 1984 where Betty still lives.
Warren was a 75-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Potter; a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Sidney Elks Lodge No. 1894.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Nelson of Sidney; one son, Rick Nelson of Potter; two brothers, Virgil and wife Katheryn Nelson of Potter and Kermit and wife Marjorie Nelson of Dalton; three sisters, Marion Jacobs and Deloras Shanholtz both of Plattsmouth, Neb. and Carol and husband Clayton Spencer of Potter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Dennis in 1970, an infant daughter Jo Ann in 1946, a brother Chauncey Nelson and a sister Mildred Terman.

Donna Dee Maddox-Geiger 1931-2002

Donna Dee Maddox-Geiger, 70, a long-time Cheyenne County resident, died Saturday, Oct. 12 at her home in Lodgepole. Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church in Sidney with Fr. Ed Newbury of Kimball officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at 3 p.m. in the cemetery in Wheatland, Wyo. Gehrig and Son Funeral Home in Sidney is in charge of the arrangements.
The family has established memorials to the Christ Episcopal Church.
Donna Dee Maddox-Geiger was born Oct. 20, 1931 in Cheyenne, Wyo., the daughter of Vernon E. and Aileen (Scott) Maddox. She was raised and attended school there, graduating from Cheyenne Central High School.
On Aug. 7, 1949 Donna married Glenn Geiger in Cheyenne. To this union, three sons were born.
After moving to Sidney, Donna worked for H.C.Q. Nelson, DDS for many years, at VicTone Cleaners, Geiger’s Construction, Kid’s Plus and Sapp Bros., as a swimming instructor at the Bertrum O’Connor Swimming Pool and was an agent for AFLAC Insurance. Donna was active in civic affairs, serving as a sponsor for the Seventeen Club of Sidney, on the Sidney School Board, Ladies Division of the Cheyenne County Chamber of Commerce and was an active member of the Christ Episcopal Church Vestry. She loved gardening, reading, animals – particularly dogs, but most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her special friend Jack Powers of Lodgepole; sons and daughters-in-law, Edwin W. and Lori Geiger of Sidney, Martin G. and Jeannie Geiger of LaSalle, Colo. and David D. and Judy Geiger of Lewellen, Neb.; one brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Jean Maddox of Portales, N.M.; step-sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Glade Johnson of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren, Martin Geiger of Sidney, Anthony Geiger and wife Jennifer of Boise, Idaho, Brian Geiger of Denver, Stephanie Dishman and husband Eric of Lodgepole, Erik Geiger and wife Shannon of Sidney; Hope Geiger and Brenna Geiger, both of Sidney and great grandchildren, Deandrea Geiger and Darrion Geiger both of Sidney, Marcus Geiger of Boise and Elena Dishman of Lodgepole.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-brother, Robert Brettell.

Gary E. Dishong 1956-2002

Gary E. Dishong, 46, Sidney, died Thursday, Oct. 10 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident near Bridgeport Wednesday. A closed casket funeral was held Monday at the First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport with Rev. James Leslie Kidd officiating. Interment followed in the Gordon Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to the family, of which a fund has been set up at the Community First National Bank in Bridgeport.
Gary Dishong was born June 24, 1956 in Sterling, Colo., the son of Lester E. and Doris M. (Becker) Dishong. He was raised and educated in Scottsbluff and Banner County.
Gary was united in marriage to Tami Murphy, July 26, 1974 in Scottsbluff. To this union, two children were born, Brandon and Cari.
Gary worked for Burlington Northern in Alliance for 15 years before moving to Montana where he lived for six years. He then returned to Nebraska and ranched near Merriman, and then to Sidney where he was involved with the cattle trucking industry. Gary enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and spending time with his family and fiancé. He held a special place in his heart for his two granddaughters. He loved and shared his life with many friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Gary will especially be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Survivors include his son, Brandon Dishong and wife Mykaela of Lincoln; daughter, Cari Fisher and husband Hal of Scottsbluff; father, Lester E. Dishong and wife Carole of Gordon; fiancé Shelley Wingard of Dalton and her children, Jennifer, Amanda and Kacey; sisters, Sandy Frickey and husband Dale of Bridgeport and Carol Clarke and husband Randy of Bridgeport; step-father, Wayne Schildhauer of Dix; step-sisters, Dorris Benson of Lusk, Wyo., Denise Holscher and husband Kurt of Crawford, Renee Sasse and husband Bob of Gordon; step-brothers, Dr. Roger Rudloff and wife Tracie of Neligh, Neb., Craig Benson and wife Cindy of Mandan, N.D. and Marty Benson of Alliance; two granddaughters and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Doris, brother, Greg and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

Freda (Fritz) Jones 1916-2002

Freda (Fritz) Jones, 86, Rushville, Neb., died Friday, Oct. 11 at the Chadron Community Hospital. A vigil will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Cicmanec-Chamberlain-Pier Chapel in Rushville. Her funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. also at the chapel with Rev. Al Trucano officiating. Cicamanec-Chamberlain-Pier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family has suggested memorials be made to the Extension Chapel or to the donor’s choice. Donations are to be sent to the Security First Bank, P.O. Box 550, Rushville, NE 69360.
Freda Jones was born June 22, 1916 in Billings, Mont., the daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Benner. As a young girl she lived with her family in Chinook, Mont. She was the fifth of 14 children.
On Nov. 16, 1934, Freda married Leve Jones in Chinook. They were married 55 years and had four children.
The couple owned and operated the Leve Jones Department Store for 40 years in Rushville.
Freda especially enjoyed her children and grandchildren and was an active member of the Extension Chapel.
Survivors include her daughters, Jill Wozniak of Gering and Judy Thomas and husband Tom of Rushville; sons, Jim Jones and wife Evelyn of Sidney and Jack Jones and wife Debbie of Glennallen, Alaska; three sisters; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leve, granddaughter, Rochelle Batt and son-in-law, Ivan Wozniak.
