Garth L. Melvin

Nelson resident Garth L. Melvin, 78, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, in Superior.
Services are 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Nelson Community United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy officiating. Burial will be in the Edgar Cemetery. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at Klawitter Price Funeral Home in Nelson.
Mr. Melvin was born April 13, 1921, to Lawrence and Gertrude (Kinnison) Melvin near Angus. On April 18, 1943, he married Alice Irene Blevins at the Davis-Monothan Base in Tucson, Ariz.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Dennis of Nelson; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Douglas, and one brother.
Memorials may be given to the church.
Roland L. Badger

Mankato, Kan., resident Roland L. Badger, 68, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 1999, at his home.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Melby Mortuary chapel in Mankato with the Rev. Frank DeFisher officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Mankato.
Mr. Badger was born Feb. 3, 1931, to Robert J. and Ida Dean (Lee) Badger. He attended School District 12. On Sept. 9, 1952, he married JoAnn Crouch. He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, David and Brian, both of Mankato, and Steven of Elkhart, Kan.; two daughters, Judy Bates of Kensington, Kan., and Patricia Shorter of Osborne, Kan.; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.

Minden resident Henry Ferdinand John Albers, 83, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at the Kearney County Health Services Long Term Care in Minden.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Minden Cemetery with the Rev. Leroy Keen officiating. Visitation is 3-5 p.m. and 7-8 p.m. Monday at Layton Funeral Home in Minden.
Mr. Albers was born July 3, 1916, to John and Clara (Dornhoff) Albers in Minden. He worked in Idaho as a gas station attendant and in the copper mines in Nevada. On Jan. 8, 1940, he married Norma E. Wilcox. They moved to Nebraska in 1942. He worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hastings and later farmed in Liberty Township. They then moved to Minden in 1989.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Karol Sinsel of Minden and Bobbie Keen of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; one sister, Marie Christensen of Minden; one brother, Howard of Minden; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister.

Former Shickley resident Florence L. (Eichelberger) Lichti, 85, of Newton, Kan., died Friday, Oct. 29, 1999, in Newton.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at Salem Mennonite Church in Shickley with the Rev. Wilton Detweiler officiating. Burial will be in the Salem Cemetery in Shickley. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Sunday at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mrs. Lichti was born March 28, 1914, to Joel and Katherine (Lauber) Eichelberger in Strang. She married Nick R. Lichti. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are two sons, Don of St. Louis and Gerry of Wichita, Kan.; three daughters, Janis Glascock of Denver, Jolene Yoder of South Burlington, Vt., and Cheryl Lichti of Heston, Kan.; three brothers, Wilbur of Denver, Ray of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Clayton of Arlington, Texas; two sisters, Lois Regier of North Newton, Kan., and Ila Dennis of Mesquite, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are 2 p.m. Monday at Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon with the Rev. Richard Maciejewski officiating. Burial will be in Shelton Cemetery with Military rites by Shelton American Legion Post 297.
Survivors are two sons, including Alan of Hastings; two daughters; two brothers; two sisters; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Kenneth H. Campbell

Former Hastings resident Kenneth H. Campbell, 75, of Rapid City, S.D., died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at his home.
Private family graveside services are 10 a.m. Monday at Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, S.D. with Chaplain Simon Looking Elk officiating. Rooks and Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Campbell was born Feb. 24, 1924, to Charles and Elizabeth (Ryan) Campbell in Wayland, Mass. He married Hazel Webb. He owned A&B Electronics in Rapid City.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Elizabeth Prentiss of Hubbardston, Mass.; one sister, Louise Dakin of Waltham, Mass.; two brothers, Charles of Wayland and Richard of Natick, Mass.
Memorials may be given to the Hospice of the Hills in South Dakota.

Nelson resident Margaret (Farver) Reed, 80, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital in Superior.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at the Nelson Community United Church of Christ with the Rev. Dr. Ralph Sturdy officiating. Burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery. Visitation is until 5 p.m. today, noon to 9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Klawitter Price Funeral Home in Nelson.
Mrs. Reed was born April 19, 1919, to Otto and Mary (Baker) Farver near Nelson. She graduated from Nelson High School in 1937. She worked in the Nelson and Lincoln telephone offices as an operator. She also worked several years for the State of Nebraska Departments of Banking and Welfare as a typeset clerk and P.B.X. operator. On Sept. 30, 1950, she married Leslie W. Reed Jr. in Papillion. She lived in Lincoln, Red Cloud, Fairfield, Superior, Clay Center and in Dalles Center, Iowa, and New Virginia, Iowa. On May 5, 1996, her husband died.
Survivors are one son, Leslie Jr. of Nelson; four daughters, Linda Lowery and Pat Miller, both of Holly, Colo., Nancy Reed of Sedgwick, Kan., and Peggy Reed of Magnolia, Ark.; one stepdaughter, Joyce McDowell of Salt Lake City; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Memorials may be given in care of the family.

Mrs. Long was born Aug. 8, 1920, to Rich and Blanche (Savely) Workman in Republican City. She attended school there. On Sept. 6, 1942, she married John R. Long in Yuma, Ariz.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Jewel Myer of Boise, Idaho, and Terresa Long of Baltimore; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers.

John J. McCabe

Hastings resident Monsignor John J. McCabe, 68, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln.
Rosary is 7 p.m. Monday and services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral of The Risen Christ in Lincoln with Bishop Fabian W. Bruskewitz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lincoln. Visitation begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home in Lincoln and one hour prior to rosary Monday and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the cathedral.
Monsignor McCabe was born April 17, 1931, to Leo and Mary (Bourbeau) McCabe in Omaha. On May 23, 1959, he was ordained a Catholic priest. He was a former superintendent at St. Cecilia Catholic School in Hastings, Lourdes High School in Nebraska City and Bishop Neuman High School in Wahoo. He was pastor at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings.
He was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and a chaplain with the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Rotary Club and the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre.
Survivors are his stepmother, Lydia McCabe of Lincoln; three brothers, Francis of Carroll, Iowa, Daniel of Tucson, Ariz., and Robert of Lincoln; and five sisters, Rosemary McCabe and Therese Sack, both of Lincoln, Mary Brunett and Jane McCabe, both of Omaha, and Judith Renner of Chicago.
Memorials may be given to the Falls City Sacred Heart High School, Nebraska City Lourdes High School, Wahoo Neumann High School, Hastings St. Cecilia High School or Lincoln Pius X High School.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at the Evangelical Free Church in Geneva. Graveside services will be in the Shickley Public Cemetery with the Rev. Curt Coddington officiating. Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Sunday at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mr. Rosenquist was born June 11, 1916, to Benjamin and Inez (Dodge) Rosenquist in York.
Survivors are one brother, Richard of Shickley and one sister, Ruth Steinhauer of Park Forest, Ill.
Memorials may be given to the Evangelical Free Church Building Fund in Shickley.
