(June 17) ALLIANCE - Clifford G. West, 69, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at the Highland Park Care Center. He was born July 6, 1934, at Box Butte County, Nebraska to Raymond F. and Winnie O. (Nason) West. He married Doris V. Wessel May 19, 1957, at Alliance.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 18, at the Bates-Gould Chapel, with Mr. Robert Locher officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Highland Park Care Center or to a charity of the donor's choice. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Luke J. Jensen, 13
(June 17) HEMINGFORD - Luke Jesse Jensen, 13, departed this world to meet his maker on June 15, 2004, at his home in rural Box Butte County. He was born March 19, 1991 at Alliance, the son of Thomas A. and Denise E. (Martin) Jensen of Hemingford.
Friends, family, and acquaintances are invited to a celebration of life ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday June 21, at the Box Butte County Fairgrounds in the grandstands. Michael Nelson, 50
(June 17) ALLIANCE - Michael Keith Nelson, 50, died Wednesday, June 15, 2004, at Regional West Medical Center at Scottsbluff. He was born Dec. 11, 1953, at Columbus, Ohio, to Marvin "Pete" and Rose (Burnham) Nelson. He lived most of his life at Laporte, Minn., Colorado and Lincoln, Neb., before moving to Alliance in 1984. He had worked for Burlington-Northern Railroad for many years.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. John Adam officiating. Cremation will follow the service with burial to be at Laporte. Beulah M. Dyer, 79
(June 16) RICHMOND, Calif. - Beulah Maxine Dyer, 79, died June 10, 2004. She was born July 12, 1924, to John and Verna Jane Grossman. A native of Alliance she moved to California in 1946.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the Alliance Cemetery, with the Rev. James Rowe officiating. Memorials may be given to First Baptist Church, P.O. Stanley O. Bedient, 87
August 5, CARBONDALE, Ill. - Stanley Osborn Bedient, 87, died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at the Carbondale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Stanley was born July 14, 1916, at Benedict, and lived in western Nebraska until 2002 when he moved to Carbondale. He operated Bedient Litho from the early 1950's until the early 1980's.
A visitation with the family present will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Bates-Gould Chapel, with a memorial celebration at 5:30 p.m. Stan's family requests no flowers. Bates-Gould Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

August 5, ALLIANCE - Joseph Charles LaMay, 89, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004, at Regional West Medical Center at Scottsbluff. He was born Oct. 21, 1914 ,at St. Onge, S.D., to Joseph and Dora Corrine (Varie) LaMay. Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, with Fr. Bryan Ernest officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military rites. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 6, at Holy Rosary Church. (Aug. 3) HEMINGFORD - Barbara A. Foley, 67, died Sunday, August 1, 2004, at her home. She was born April 4, 1937, at Alliance, to Leslie and Maryann (Matousek) Prochazka. Barbara graduated from Hemingford High School in 1955 and from Scotts Bluff Beauty Academy the following year.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, with Fr. Bryan Ernest officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, at the church. Memorials may be given to the Hemingford Volunteer Firefighters Association or to the Hemingford Swimming Pool fund. (July 26) SCOTTSBLUFF - Wilma Arlene O'Brien, 85, died Monday, July 12, 2004, at Regional West Medical Center. Wilma was born May 20, 1919, Floyd, Cedar Township, Iowa, a daughter of Jasper and Estella (Day) Newton. Her funeral service was held Saturday, July 17, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Ralph Morris officiating. Interment was in the Fairview Cemetery. (July 27) RAPID CITY, S.D. - Oscar H. Curtis, 86, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at Black Hills Retirement Center, having resided there since June 25, 2004. (Aug. 2) ALLIANCE - George W. Moore, 93, died Friday, July 30, 2004, at Highland Park Care Center. He was born Aug. 17, 1910, at Martel, to William and Theresa (Schmitt) Moore. He married Dorothy L. Fitzgerald Sept. 16, 1937, at McCook. George came to the Alliance area with his family in 1922. He worked as a carman for the C.B. & Q. Railroad and the Burlington Northern Railroad for 40 years before retiring in 1975. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the Bates-Gould Chapel, with Rev. Doug Griger officiating. HEMINGFORD - Michael G. Asay, 24, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Michael was born Sept. 17, 1980, at Livingston, Mont., to Bruce and Cindy (Murphy) Asay. A celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at the United Methodist Church at Hemingford, with Pastor Jeri Soens officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. (Oct. 4) HEMINGFORD - Frank Edward "Red" Davie Jr., 75, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at the Hemingford Community Care Center. He was born July 9, 1929, at Sioux Falls, S.D., to Frank E. and Victoria W. (Avise) Davie, Sr. Red worked most of his life in agriculture in the Bayard area.
His survivors are his sister Dorothy and husband Norman Williams of Gerald, Mo.; and numerous cousins. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the Bayard Cemetery, with Pastor Jeri Soens officiating. Bates-Gould Funeral Home of Alliance is in charge of arrangements.
Harold Dean Kuhns, 74
SIDNEY - Harold Dean Kuhns, 74, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004, at the United Medical Center at Cheyenne, Wyo. Harold Dean Kuhns, the son of Harold Jess and Hilda (Slaybaugh) Kuhns, was born Feb. 28, 1930, at Lincoln. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m.. Thursday, Oct. 21, in the First United Methodist Church at Sidney, with Rev. Alan Davis officiating. Inurnment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials have been established to the Alliance Boys and Girls Ranch or the Elk's Benevolence Commission (Kids on the Block). Cremation has taken place and there is no visitation at the funeral home. John M. Cameron, 81
JAY EM, Wyo. - John Mark Cameron, 81, passed away Sunday, Oct. 10, at Greeley Colo., after a brief illness. He was born July 13, 1923, at Alliance and spent the first few years of his life in the Sandhills of Nebraska. He attended grade school at Bingham and at St Agnes Academy at Alliance. After moving to Wyoming with his parents in 1936, he attended High School at Scott High in the Red Cloud Community and graduated from Torrington High in 1940. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Colyer Mortuary, North Main, Torrington, Wyo.
