Geneva resident Kenneth Walters, 76, died Thursday, April 13, 2000, in Geneva.
Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Geneva with the Rev. Brian Kottas officiating. Burial will be in the Swedish Cemetery at Shickley. Visitation starts 1 p.m. Monday at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mr. Walters was born June 7, 1923, to Harold and Mattie (Nicholes) Walters at Shickley. He married Cathryn K. Saum.
Survivors are his wife; one son, Elden Walters of Davenport; two stepsons, Steven Rippe and Christopher Rippe, both of Geneva; one daughter, Marlene Walters of Harvard; one stepdaughter, Holly Rippe of Geneva; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Walters family.

Franklin resident Marie Kenney, 92, died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the Franklin Nursing Center in Franklin.
Services are pending with Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin.
Eunice Weingart

Former Tribland area resident Eunice (Willson) Weingart, 91, of Noblesville, Ind., died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at her home.
Services will be 2 p.m. June 3 in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church in Hastings. Private graveside services will be at Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Butler-Volland Funeral Home of Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Weingart was born Feb. 21, 1909, to George and Dora (Fassler) Willson in Blue Hill. She graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1927 and then from Hastings College in 1930. In June 1931, she married William Weingart. She taught school in Hastings for more than 24 years at Spencer Park and Alcott Elementary. She retired in 1974. Her husband preceded her in death.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors are two sons, Philip of Santa Ana, Calif., and David of Phoenix; one daughter, Meri Boosel of Noblesville; one sister, Mary Noftsger; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters.
Memorials may be given to the church.
Pauline A. Wolf

Franklin resident Pauline A. (Hayes) Wolf died Friday, April 14, 2000, at the Franklin Nursing Center.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hutchins Funeral Home chapel in Franklin with the Rev. J.C. Browne officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Franklin. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and Monday and 8 a.m. until services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Wolf was born to Thomas and Delta (Mason) Hayes on a farm southwest of Franklin. She attended school at District 17 and Franklin High School. She received her cosmetology license from Hastings Beauty School in Hastings. On Aug. 24, 1935, she married Olen L. Wolf in Marysville, Kan. They farmed near Franklin. In 1971 they moved into Franklin.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge No. 173, Franklin Women's Club and United Methodist Women and was a volunteer at the Senior Center.
Survivors are her husband; two daughters, Barbara Jean Olson of Holdrege and Jeanie Meyer of Columbus; one son, Clifford of Colton, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother and two grandchildren.
Elizabeth E. Gunn

Former Jewell County, Kan., resident Elizabeth Ellen (Regensberg) Gunn, 87, of Belleville, Kan., died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Lutheran Care Home in Belleville.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Megrue-Price Funeral Home chapel in Superior with the Rev. Jon Albrecht officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery near Hardy. Visitation is 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gunn was born Dec. 7, 1912, to Joseph and Lillian (Miller) Regensberg near Guadalupita, N.M. She moved with her family at an early age to Las Vegas, N.M., and attended Las Vegas Public Schools. She also worked at Montgomery Ward in Las Vegas. On July 24, 1933, she married Preston Gunn in Las Vegas. They moved to Jewell County. On Sept. 21, 1974, her husband died. She wrote a news column for the Hardy Herald for several years and then for the Superior Express. She moved to a nursing home in Belleville in 1995.
She served on the Star School District board and was a former member of the Union Church in Hardy.
Survivors are one daughter, Sandra Skinner of Superior; one son, Steve of Superior; two sisters, Bertha Wells of Clovis, N.M., and Rosemarie McCurry of Santa Fe, N.M.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Don and Ed; two sisters; five brothers; and one grandchild.
Memorials may be sent in care of the family.
Donald L. Mack

Kenesaw resident Donald L. Mack, 68, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at the Presbyterian Church in Kenesaw with the Rev. Tom Gould officiating. Burial will be at the Kenesaw Cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post No. 268 of Kenesaw. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday at Jackson-Wilson Funeral Home in Kenesaw.
Mr. Mack was born Jan. 25, 1932, to Earl and Myrtle (Morse) Mack in Adams County. He graduated from Kenesaw High School in 1949. From 1950-54 he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He then began farming with his father. On Nov. 11, 1955, he married Yvonne Niemeyer in Hastings. Later he owned Mack and Beal Well, a well digging business in Kenesaw. In 1994 he retired from farming.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and American Legion Post No. 268 of Kenesaw.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Bruce and Curtis, both of Kenesaw; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Keith, and two sisters.
Memorials may be given to the family's choice.
Donald A. Clancy

Former Hastings resident Donald A. Clancy, 79, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Steve Hodgson officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until services Saturday at the funeral home.
Mr. Clancy was born March 30, 1921, to John Henry and Lena Marie (Trobaugh) Clancy in Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46, holding the rank of corporal and serving in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. On June 29, 1948, he married Leontina "Tina" Griess in Clay Center. They later divorced. He lived in Sutton, then Hastings, then Sutton again. In 1952 he returned to Hastings. He was a supervisor at the Naval Ammunition Depot near Hastings and the Cornhusker Ordnance Plant at Grand Island. He retired in 1983 and later worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads.
For his military service, he received the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors are two daughters, Judy Magner of Juniata and Donna Gregory of Hastings; two sons, Johnny and David, both of Hastings; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the family.
Thomas 'T.J.' Reed

Former Hastings resident Thomas "T.J." Reed, 34, of Grand Island died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services are 1 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island with the Rev. Leroy Buford officiating. The remains will be cremated following services. Visitation is 10 a.m. until services Sunday at the funeral home.
Mr. Reed was born Jan. 7, 1966, to Harry and Grace (Clark) Reed at Syracuse, N.Y. He grew up in New York and Hastings and graduated from Adams Central High School in 1987. He was employed with various contract work through Mid-Nebraska Individual Services, based in Grand Island.
He was a member of Special Olympics and Strong Americans.
Survivors are his father and stepmother, Brenda Reed of Fairfield; one brother, Steve of Kansas; two sisters, Sandy Cowell of California and Cindy Littlefield of Oklahoma; and four stepsisters, Stefanie Dedrick, Christy Dedrick and Misty Dedrick, all of Hastings, and Jacee Wyman of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his mother and one sister.
Memorials may be given to the Mid-Nebraska Individual Services.

Hastings resident Jean Irene (Gruver) Austin, 76, of 919 E. Ninth St., died Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Good Samaritan Village Perkins Pavilion.
Services are 2 p.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Dr. Carl W. Utley officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Saturday, 1-8 p.m. Sunday with family present from 6-8 p.m. and 9 a.m. until services Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Austin was born July 31, 1923, to Clarke A. and Lena Mae (Scott) Gruver in Troy, N.Y. She graduated from high school in Kirwin, Kan., and earned a degree from West Virginia Business College in Bluefield, W.Va. She was a secretary for the U.S. Army Air Force in Wichita, Kan. On March 25, 1944, she married Delbert W. Austin in Oklahoma City. She was a professional seamstress and a bookkeeper for Fleming Manufacturing Co. in Hastings for 26 years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hastings.
Survivors are her husband; two sons, Larry A. of Knoxville, Tenn., and Ronald L. of Phillipsburg, Kan.; two daughters, Judith A. Lienemann of Pawleys Island, S.C., and Sharon J. Wisker Disciascio of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Monna K. Parsons and Wava N. Gruver, both of Wichita; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the donor's choice.
Dean R. Erickson

Former Ong resident Dean R. Erickson, 72, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Memorial services are 7 p.m. Monday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island with the Revs. Gretchen Diers and Doug Stensby officiating. Burial will be private with the family. There is no visitation. Butler-Volland Funeral Home in Hastings is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Erickson was born Jan. 21, 1928, to Earnest and Ebba (Roos) Erickson in Ong. On Nov. 4, 1951, he married Naomi J. Fuerstenau. He worked for Overland National Bank in Grand Island for 23 years and also was a financial adviser. He worked at Chief Industries and the Pony Express, both in Grand Island.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and served on the church council and several committees. He served on the YMCA board of directors and the board of education and two terms on the Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
Survivors are his wife; two sons, Tom of Lee's Summit, Mo., and Tim of Greenwood, Mo.; one daughter, Jane Davis of Hastings; one sister, Marvelle Laursen of Grand Island; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Memorials may be given to the church.
Adam Scheideman

Hastings resident Adam Scheideman, 84, of 127 E. South St., died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at his home.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at Butler-Volland Funeral Home chapel in Hastings with the Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Visitation is until 9 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, 1-9 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. until services Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Scheideman was born March 11, 1916, to Conrad and Elizabeth (Alberts) Scheideman in Hastings. He married Daphne Wind. She died April 26, 1950. On Aug. 27, 1952, he married Mary B. (Armstrong) Johnson. He worked in security for the Naval Ammunition Depot near Hastings. He later worked for Spitz Foundry in Hastings for 40 years.
He was a member of the Eagles Club No. 592 and a past member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors are his wife; two daughters, D'Maris Brooks and Geneen Zimmerman, both of Hastings; two sons, Richard Scheideman of Anchorage, Alaska, and Larry Johnson of Logan, Utah; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Richard Adam; one brother; and three sisters.
