Margaret Harder
LINCOLN -- Margaret M. Harder, 55, of Lincoln died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at her home in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home in Lincoln. The Rev. Joseph Mroczkowski will officiate. Burial will be in Calgary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to a favorite charity.
Mrs. Harder was born
Aug. 29, 1943, to Brahman and Helen (Wendell) Sappington at Texas City, Texas. She was a homemaker and former employee of First Federal Lincoln Bank.
Survivors include her husband, Larry; three sons, Eric Robinson, Mark and Mitchell Harder, all of Lincoln; two daughters, Christina (Mrs. Robert) Maher of Omaha and Kristin Harder of Lincoln; two grandchildren; her parents of Hoisington, Kan., and one brother, Robert Sappington of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Roger Gade
GREER, S.C. -- Roger A. Gade, 51, of Greer, S.C., died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at Charlotte N.C.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Wood Mortuary in Greer, S.C. The Rev. John Rush will officiate.
Further memorial Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kleine Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
Mr. Gade was born
Feb. 5, 1948, at Sidney to Harold and Alice (Burns) Gade of Grand Island. He was Project Manager at Ryan Steak House.
Survivors include his wife, Karen of Lincoln; two daughters, Jill Gade of Lincoln and Angela Ehrenfeld of Hampton, Va.; two grandchildren; one brother, James of Greer, S.C.; and two sisters, Sharon of Singapore and Ellie of High Pointe, N.C.
Joel Thibodeau
TONOPAH, Ariz. -- Joel Reo Thibodeau, 66, of Tonopah, Ariz., died Aug. 1, 1999, at his home.
Cremation was held at Westside Crematory at Youngtown, Ariz. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 18, 1999, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mitchell. Inurnment will be in the Mitchell Cemetery.
Mr. Thibodeau was born
at St. Frances, Maine, on Jan. 2, 1933, to Alfred B. and Almeda (Nadeau) Thibodeau. The family moved to Fort Kent, Maine, in 1942. He graduated from Fort Kent Community High School in 1952 and joined the Air Force that September.
He married Janet Johnston on Dec. 22, 1956, at Travis Air Force Base, Calif. In 1962 they moved to Holdrege where they stayed until 1978 when they moved to Grand Island.
He worked as a Nebraska Army National Guard Recruiter until his retirement on Sept. 30, 1988. They then moved to Phoenix, Ariz., where he worked for Universal Technical Institute until his retirement on March 1977.
He married Delia Maldonado on May 30, 1997, at Phoenix, Ariz. They moved to a ranch at Tonopah, Ariz. on July 31, 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Delia of Tonopah, Ariz.; two daughters, March (Mrs. Milton) King of Oshkosh and Amy (Mrs. Joe) Kephart of Mitchell; eight grandchildren; one sister, Louise (Mrs. Bernie) Corona of East Hartford, Conn.; two brothers, Paul of Jewett City, Conn. and Maurice of Chaplin, Conn.; stepchildren, Dan Harvey of Tonopah, Ariz., Sue Harvey, Doug Harvey and Geoffrey Harvey, all of Windchester, N.H.; one step-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet.
Vern Webb
LELAND, N.C. -- Vern L. Webb, 48, of Leland, N.C., formerly of Burwell, died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, in Fairfield, Ohio, where he had lived and worked for the past 11 months.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service, Oleander Chapel, in Wilmington, N.C. The Rev. Jack Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery at Rose Hill, N.C.
Mr. Webb was born
on Aug. 25, 1950, in Burwell to H.H. and Wilda (Hazelton) Webb. He worked for A.V.S. Kratz-Wilde Machine Co. in Westchester, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon; two children, Misty V. Webb of Arlington, Va., and Casey D. Webb of Honolulu; two stepchildren, Courtnie L. Parker of Rocky Point, N.C., and Christopher B. Parker of Wilmington, N.C.; five sisters, Treva (Mrs. Woody) Woods of Mira, La., Florence (Mrs. Merrill) Crandall of Hastings, Jeanne (Mrs. Dave) Emken of Aurora and Phyllis Webb and Shanna (Mrs. Mike) Coressel, both of Lincoln; and two brothers, Jim Webb of Grand Island and Phillip Mitchell Webb of Cairo.
Keith Falldorf
Keith N. Falldorf, 17, of Grand Island died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center as the result of injuries suffered in a car-train accident.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. C. Roger Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church Youth Group or Northwest High School.
He was born
on June 29, 1982, at Grand Island to Robert and Irene (Taylor) Falldorf. He grew up in Grand Island and attended Engleman Elementary School and Westridge Middle School. He would have been a senior at Northwest High School. He had just signed up for the Army National Guard. He worked at Pizza Hut as a waiter.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, SNARFS Youth Group at the church and the Junior Golf League at Grand Island Municipal Golf Course. He enjoyed work he had done at Head Start and volunteered at the Grand Island Veterans Home. He participated in golf, track, football, wrestling and tennis. He also was involved with intramural basketball at school.
He loved his car, fishing and listening to music. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his parents; a brother, Jayden Falldorf at home; two sisters, Amanda and Kayla Falldorf at home; grandparents, Alta and Roger Bruce of Grand Island, Barbara and Donald Taylor and Vernon and Marilyn Meyer of Wood River and Barbara Falldorf of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; and a special friend, Kristen Shurtleff of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Gary Falldorf; and a grandmother, Sophia Meyer.
Eugene Kolar
PALMER -- Eugene James Kolar, 49, of Palmer died Saturday, Aug. 14, 1999, at the Howard County Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Melanie Adams will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Kolar was born
on Jan. 20, 1950, at Burwell to Jimmie and Lillian (Bruha) Kolar. He and his family lived for a short time near Comstock and then on the family farm west of Elyria. He attended a rural school near Elyria and graduated from Ord High School in 1968.
He married Rebecca Jorgensen on Oct. 18, 1971. The couple lived in Grand Island, then in Scotia for a number of years. They moved to Palmer in 1993. He worked in various construction jobs and most recently at Chief Automotive as a welder.
He enjoyed tractor pulls, mud pulls and car shows.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Quentin of North Loup, Justin of Norfolk and Brock of Palmer; three grandchildren; and one brother, Larry of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorothy.
Chad Majerus
POLK -- Chad Allan Majerus, 18, of Polk died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, as a result of a motorcycle accident near Polk.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Polk High School gymnasium. The Rev. Jeffery Thurman will officiate. Burial will be in the Polk Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Solt Funeral Home in Polk.
He was born
on Oct. 8, 1980, in Albion to David J. and Gayle Ann (Livingston) Majerus. He began elementary school in Central City and moved with his family to Polk in 1987. He graduated from Polk High School in May 1999. He was working with his father at Majerus Trucking.
While in high school, he had participated in football and track and was a member of Future Farmers of America.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and motorcycling and was a member of the North American Hunting Club.
Survivors include his father, of Polk; his mother, of Giltner; two brothers, Mike of Albion and Brian of Polk; one sister, Tiffany of Giltner; and his grandmother, Doris Majerus of Central City.
He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Ramona Livingston; and two grandfathers, Addison Livingston and Peter Majerus.
'Jiggs' Poland
SARGENT -- Gerald "Jiggs" V. Poland, 81, of Sargent died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at the Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Rhoad Funeral Chapel in Sargent. Burial will be in Madison Square Cemetery west of Taylor.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Custer County Hospice.
Michael Umphress
ELBA -- Michael A. Umphress, 46, of Elba died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, in a car accident near Bartlett.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba. The Rev. Larry Coulter will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. parish rosary, Wednesday at Peter's Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Umphress was born
on July 30, 1953, at St. Paul to Jewel "Jake" and Marcella (Kuszak) Umphress. He grew up in the Cotesfield, Dannevirke and Elba areas. He attended Elba public schools and graduated from Elba High School in 1971. He worked as a truck driver for Elba Sand and Gravel and Tri-County Sand and Gravel, both of Elba.
He married Rebecca Huebner on March 20, 1976, at Elba. The couple lived in Elba and later moved to Ewing. While living in Ewing, he worked for Pollock Readi-Mix, Olberding Trucking and Central Valley Farmers Co-op. At the time of his death, he was employed at Great Lakes Readi-Mix of Grand Island.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and camper and loved to tell stories.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a past member of the Elba Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Belinda (Mrs. Chris) Oliver of Lincoln and Elizabeth Umphress of Ewing; one son, Jake Umphress of Ewing; two grandchildren; his mother, Marcella Koperski of Elba; one brother, Walter Umphress of Elba; and two sisters, Barbara (Mrs. Dennis) Stark and Bonnie (Mrs. Dennis) Kennedy, both of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Tony; and his father.
Barbara Tyma
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Barbara L. Guzinski Tyma, 82, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at a Colorado Springs, Colo., hospital.
Services were at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Colorado Springs. Inurnment was private.
Mrs. Tyma was born
on Aug. 6, 1917, in Sherman County.
She married Ephrem S. Tyma on June 29, 1937.
Survivors include one son, Thomas of Colorado Springs; five daughters, Valda Rae Eyl of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Paulette Tyma of Denver and Rojean Buckridge, Fayrene Dittman and Danelle Dubuisson, all of Colorado Springs; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Elvin Guzinski of Ravenna.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Keith Falldorf
