Rosa Hespe, 82, of Grand Island, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services are pending with Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Marx Schutt
Marx Schutt, 47, of Grand Island died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday with family receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mr. Schutt was born
June 10, 1952, in Grand Island to Emil and Elsie (Frauen) Schutt. He grew up in Central City and moved to Grand Island in 1963. He attended District No. 17 in Central City and then Grand Island Northwest High School where he graduated in 1970. He then attended Hastings Technical College.
He married Susan Vogel on Dec. 7, 1974, in Grand Island.
He was a self-employed farmer.
He enjoyed hunting duck, turkey and deer. He was a member of the Platt-Duetsche, Ducks Unlimited, the Saddle Club, and the Northwest Future Farmers of America Alumni.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Ken of Grand Island; a daughter, Traci Schutt of Grand Island; and three sisters, Mona (Mrs. Robert) Dubas of Grand Island, Marjorie (Mrs. John) Bengtson of York, and Marlene (Mrs. Gordon) McMullen of Upland, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Margaret Hopkins
PALMER -- Margaret Long Hopkins, 85, of Palmer, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jesse Jones Funeral Home in Chatsworth, Ga. Burial will be in the Cool Springs Cemetery near Chatsworth.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Mrs. Hopkins was born
on June 25, 1914, in Chatsworth, Ga. to John and Artie (Winkler) Long. She grew up in Georgia for most of her childhood and then moved to Florida when her father died. She attended Macclenny High School and then worked at a hospital and attended night school to receive her RN degree in nursing.
She worked in many hospitals over the years and finally retired from Frazier Memorial in Macclenny, Fla.
She married Kemp Cook Hopkins on Feb. 19, 1971, in Elko, Nev. The couple moved to Palmer in 1975.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Carol (Mrs. Cecil) Davis of Glen St. Mary, Fla., Teri Jo (Mrs. Bill) Bonner of Buhl, Idaho, Penny (Mrs. Richard) Wannenberg of Boise, Idaho, Connie (Mrs. Jim) Holt of Seal Rock, Ore., and Lucy (Mrs. John) Bales of Waldport, Ore.; one son, Bill Ellich of Winterhaven, Fla.; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and two grandchildren.
Jack Boroff
WEATHERFORD, TEXAS -- Jack L. Boroff, 67, of Weatherford, Texas, formerly of Grand Island, died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at his home in Texas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Harms will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedarview Cemetery near Doniphan.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Survivors include one brother, Jim of Wood River; and four sisters, Kay Rieken and Carole Vejvoda both of Grand Island, Karan Scott of Lincoln and Kaffie Albers of Coalville, Utah.
Tarx Schutt
Marx Schutt, 47, of Rural Route Three in Grand Island died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at his home.
Services are pending with Apfel Butler Geddes Funeral Home.
Olive Dubry Daily
BROKEN BOW -- Olive Dubry Daily, 89, of Broken Bow died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at her home.
Funeral services will be at 2:30 Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Cliff Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery with Govier Brothers in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers. Memorials have been established to the Senior Citizens in Anselmo.
Mrs. Dail was born
Oct. 18, 1909, at Palco, Kan. to Sam and Mae (Adamson) Stithem. In 1917, the family moved to Nebraska. She attended school at Milburn.
On Dec. 28, 1925, she married Willis Dubry. The couple made their home on a ranch south of Brewster until moving to Broken Bow. Mr. Dubry died in 1967. She married Walter E. Daily on May 17, 1971. The couple made their home in Broken Bow.
Mrs. Daily was a member of the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow and the Senior Citizens Club at Anselmo. She enjoyed traveling, dancing and playing bingo.
Survivors include one son, Keith of Thedford; one daughter, Anna May Allison of Broken Bow; one sister, Mattie Dunbar of Sargent; one brother, Kenneth Stithem of Anselmo; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son-in-law, Delmer Allison; three brothers, Otto, Delwin, and Ivan; four sisters, Frances, Beulah, Lois and Agnes.
ŒChet' Deichmann
CENTRAL CITY -- Chesley "Chet" David Deichmann, 17, of Central City died in an accident west of Central City on Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Community Bible Church in Central City. The Rev. Gilbert Larsen will officiate. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Visitation is from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City.
Chet was born
on Sept. 28, 1981, in Grand Island to David and Becky Jo (Friesen) Deichmann. He was a senior at Nebraska Christian High School in Central City. He had lived in Central City all of his life.
He was a member of the Community Bible Church and belonged to their youth group and was a helper in the AWANA Club. At Nebraska Christian High School, Chet was involved in the Speech Club, was vice president of the senior class, a member of school band and was in charge of videotaping the school football games.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and working on cars.
Survivors include his parents of Central City; two sisters, Stephani and Kimberly, both at home; one brother, Tony, at home; and grandparents Gordon and Jewell Deichmann of Central City and Jerry and Dolores Friesen of Aurora.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents.
Hannah Hansen
HAMPTON -- Hannah C. Hansen, 97, of Hampton died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Solt Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in the United Lutheran Cemetery near Hampton.
There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Hansen was born
Feb. 7, 1902, to Erick and Hulda (Erickson) Nilson, southwest of Marquette. The family then moved to the Nilson family farm northeast of Marquette. She attended public school near Marquette, attended Marquette High School and graduated from Aurora High School.
She kept house for her older brothers until she could teach school. She taught at Public School No. 6 and Public School 51 in Hamilton County.
She married George W. Hansen on Feb. 14, 1923, in Omaha. They farmed the Hansen farm north of Hampton where she continued to live until her death.
She was a homemaker all of her married life. She loved working in the yard, with flowers and always had a garden until her health failed.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora.
Survivors include one daughter, Eileen Hansen of Omaha; two sons Jabe and Paul, both of Hampton; one sister, Artha Nilson of Lincoln; and one brother, Arthur Nilson of Aurora.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter; three brothers, Charlie, Victor and Oskar; and four sisters, Lydia Magnussen, Esther McMahan, Edith Hansen and Hulda Nolan.
Maxine Hruby
ARCADIA -- Maxine J. "Max" Hruby, 43, of Arcadia died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Arcadia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paixao Baptista officiating. Burial will be in the Arcadia City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ord Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Arcadia Fire Department and Rescue Unit.
Mrs. Hruby was born
Oct. 28, 1955, at Burwell to Dale and Ilene (Freeman) Lindsey. She was raised in Burwell and graduated from Burwell High School in 1973.
She was married to Gary Dahota, and lived in Ericson, where the couple operated the Hungry Horse Saloon. She married Randy Gydesen, and while living near Ord, was employed at the steakhouse in Ord.
On Feb. 6, 1993, she married Jeff Hruby at Las Vegas. The couple lived in Arcadia and operated Hruby's Market.
She was a member of the Arcadia United Methodist Church and the Arcadia Ladies Auxiliary. Her hobbies included golfing, bowling, antiques and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband; her parents; one son, Brandon Drahota of Ewing; one daughter, Kristin Gydesen of Arcadia; two brothers, Ryan Lindsey of Burwell and Randy Blake of New Jersey; three sisters, Leola Ward, Charlene Fortune and Myra Lindsey all of Kearney.
Charles Zangger
NORTH LOUP -- Charles B. "Charlie" Zangger, 80, of North Loup died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the North Loup United Methodist Church with the Rev. Melanie Adams officiating. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Ord Masonic Lodge 103, A.F. & A.M. Burial will be at the Hillside Cemetery in North Loup.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Ord Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Ord Airport.
Mr. Zangger was born
Sept. 1, 1919, at Sioux Falls, S.D. to Wilbert O. and Merle (Burris) Zangger. When he was five, the family moved from Larchwood, Iowa to North Loup. He attended country school at Olean District 14 and was a 1936 graduate of North Loup High School. He graduated from Hastings College in 1941 with degrees in physics and math. In 1941 he obtained a commercial certificate from Omaha University.
He married Marguerite "Peg" Parker on Feb. 20, 1943. The couple made their home in Huron, S.D., where Mr. Zangger was a contract flight officer for the war training service. In 1944 the couple moved to Chicago where Mr. Zangger was employed as a pilot for American Airlines.
After three years the couple moved to a farm in North Loup, where Mr. Zangger lived until recently when he moved to Parkview Village in Ord. Later, he moved to the Valley County Nursing Home.
Mr. Zangger was an FAA inspector for many years and an FAA safety inspector until recently. He also was a regional flight instructor from 1947 to 1993.
He was president of the Ord Airport Authority, a past county supervisor, a board member of the Valley County Conservation Service, was the first member and president of the Lower Loup NRD, and was a lay minister at the North Loup United Methodist Church where he was a member.
He also was a member of the Ord Masonic Lodge 103, A.F & A.M., North Loup Lions Club, Farm Bureau and Hastings Shrine Temple Tehama.
His hobbies included black powder rifles, bow hunting, building model airplanes and trains, reading, horses and motorcycles.
Survivors include one son, Charles P. "Chuck" Zangger of North Loup; one daughter, Jacqueline Jones of Sacramento, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Esther Raun of Stillwater, Okla.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
