Marlene Lunkwitz
NORTH PLATTE -- Marlene Dawn Lunkwitz, 61, of North Platte died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Adams and Swanson Chapel in North Platte. The Rev. David Lux will officiate. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery south of Maxwell.
Memorials are suggested to Great Plains Hospice.
Mrs. Lunkwitz was born
on Nov. 4, 1938, at Paxton to Herbert and Ellen (Driefholt) Jaenicke. She grew up in North Platte, where she attended school.
She married Derl D. Lunkwitz on July 15, 1955, in Kimball. They moved to San Diego, where he was stationed with the U.S. Navy. They lived in Grand Island for a time before moving back to North Platte in 1979. She was a bookkeeper for Whitaker Furniture and Erickson Furniture for nearly 20 years.
She enjoyed bowling, ceramics, crafts, reading, collecting carnival glass and camping.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Carol (Mrs. Ted) Brewer of North Platte and Marsha (Mrs. Michael) Gehman of Grand Island; two sons, Rodney Lunkwitz of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Tom Lunkwitz of Rowlett, Texas; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her mother, of North Platte; one sister, Linda (Mrs. Phillip) Haller of Montgomery, Ala.; and one brother, Bob Jaenicke of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Russ Nutter
THEDFORD -- Russell Allan Nutter, 75, of Thedford died Wednesday, May 24, 2000, of cancer at his home in Thedford.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Thedford Gymnasium. The Rev. Linda Martin will officiate. Burial will be in the Thedford Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the Thedford Gym.
Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the Thedford American Legion and/or the Thedford EMTs.
Mr. Nutter was born
March 13, 1925, at Washington County, Kan., to Walter Pearl and Catherine Nutter. He was a rancher in the Thedford area for many years and served in the Navy during World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Nebraska Cattlemen's Association, the National Limousin Association and the Selective Service Board.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Wanda; four children, Connie (Mrs. Ben) Moser of North Platte, Mark and Troy, both of Thedford and Brad of Hickman; 13 grandchildren; three sisters, Shirley (Mrs. Gene) Krause of Ansley, Phyllis Figard of Thedford and Joyce (Mrs. Duane) Molley of Lakewood, Colo., and one brother, Charles Nutter of Lincoln.
Clarence Baxter
Clarence G. Baxter, 94, of Grand Island died Monday, May 22, 2000, at the St. Francis Medical Center Skilled Care Unit.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Onamae Waddel will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the church or the donor's choice.
Mr. Baxter was born
on June 9, 1905, in St. Paul to Tom and Lena (Jess) Baxter. He attended District 13 School near Dannebrog and St. Paul Business College. After his education, he farmed near Dannebrog.
He married Elsie Alexander on Nov. 19, 1930, in Elba. The couple lived on the family farm and continued to farm. They moved to Grand island in 1945, and Mr. Baxter farmed and fed cattle northwest of Grand Island. He farmed for 55 years and retired in 1975.
Mr. Baxter was an avid bowler.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He served on the District 30 school board and the election board. Mr. Baxter was one of the original Fonner Park board members. He was a lifetime member of the Oddfellows, a member of the Eagles Club, Ashlar Lodge 33 and the Tehama Shrine.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Daryl Baxter of Grand Island; three daughters, Deanna (Mrs. Duane) Eversoll of Lincoln, Dixie Behrle of Grand Island and Donita (Mrs. Joe) Cone of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one brother, James Baxter of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Arthur Baxter; and two sisters, Beulah Nielsen and Hazel Muirhead.
Donna Levender
Donna J. Levender, 50, of Grand Island, died Monday, May 22, 2000 at her home following a long illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family or St. Francis Hospice.
Ms. Lavender was born
Feb. 6, 1950 to Charles Levender Sr., and Irene (Kensinger) Jemison. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1967.
She was a cook at the Nebraska Veterans Home and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed fishing and crossword puzzles.
Survivors include her mother; stepfather, Richard Watson of Grand Island; two sons, James Chapek of Lincoln and Joey Christensen of Grand Island; three daughters, Trinda Lundy of Columbus and Mendy Race and Maria Vavra, both of Omaha; six grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Kensinger of Lincoln and Chuck Levender of Grand Island; and two sisters, Faye Osborne of Brule and Marcella Pfeifer of Giltner.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Marge Wolfe
Marge E. Vance Wolfe, 68, of Grand Island, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. The Rev. C. Roger Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 4 to 5 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice or St. Francis Cancer Treatment Center.
Mrs. Wolfe was born
Aug. 19, 1931, to Ira D. and Georgia F. (Oliver) Vance at Lexington. She went back to college at age 50 and received her LPN degree. At the time of her death, she worked as a hospice nurse for St. Francis Medical Center.
She enjoyed speaking of her strong faith in Jesus for the Grand Island Christian Business Women and other organizations throughout the state. She was a published Christian author.
She was a member of many organizations including Right to Life, the American Heart Association, Nebraska Hospice Association and the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Ron of Grand Island; two daughters, Katherine Pate of Denver and Jerrie Geiser of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three sons, Robert of Marshall, Minn., Mitchell of Augusta, Kan., and Richard of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clyde and Dean and three sisters, Della May, Virginia and Ruth.
She was preceded in death by three brothers.
Vera Babcock
ALBION -- Vera L. Babcock, 93, of Albion died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Wolf Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Albion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Albion. The Rev. Terry Otto will officiate. Burial will be in Dublin Cemetery in Primrose.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Levander Funeral Home in Albion.
Clarence Brickel
FULLERTON -- Clarence R. Brickel, 81, of Fullerton died Monday, May 22, 2000, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Palmer Funeral Home in Fullerton. The Rev. Mary McQueen will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Harold Hilder
CENTRAL CITY -- Harold R. Hilder, 86, of Central City died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Solt Funeral Home in Central City with the Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch officiating. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery.
Mr. Hilder married Alice L. Brucker on Jan. 28, 1939.
Roy McKoski
ST. PAUL -- Roy A. McKoski, 92, of St. Paul died Monday, May 22, 2000, at the Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Michael McDermott will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Thursday at the church. Further visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mr. McKoski was born
on Nov. 6, 1907, at Columbus to Joseph and Sophia (Mecek) McKoski. He was raised and attended school in the Fullerton area. In 1924, his family moved to Nysted, where he continued his education.
He married Erna "Peggy" Zimbelman on Aug. 30, 1939, in St. Paul. The couple farmed in the Nysted area. They moved to St. Paul in 1948 and went into the commercial trucking and corn-shelling business until August 1988, when he retired.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and played baseball in his younger years. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church of St. Paul.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, James of St. Paul, David of Springfield, Michael of Farmersville, Calif., and Gary of Grand Island; one daughter, Janette (Mrs. Andy) Glause of Worms; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Frank; and one sister, Josephine Mortensen.
Fred Poss
SCOTIA -- Fred M. Poss, 95, of Scotia died Monday, May 22, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Scotia. The Rev. Melanie Adams will officiate. Mr. Poss was cremated.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mr. Poss was born
on Aug. 25, 1904, near Cotesfield to Louis and Emma (Holm) Poss. He attended Howard County rural schools and grew up on the family farm.
He married Grace Gydesen on Dec. 5, 1934, at St. Paul. The couple farmed near Cotesfield until moving into Scotia in October 1962. Mrs. Poss died on Dec. 31, 1982.
Mr. Poss married Hazel Koch in 1985. The couple moved to St. Paul and returned to Scotia in 1987. Mrs. Poss died in October 1996. Mr. Poss continued to live in his home and raise livestock until the time of his death.
He enjoyed farming, fishing, gardening, polka music and dancing.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Scotia.
Survivors include one daughter, Erma (Mrs. Bill) Neel of North Loup; three sons, Melvin and Donald of Scotia and Kenneth of Greeley; one stepdaughter, Maxine Sundberg of Clarks; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Florence Poss of Scotia.
Other than his wives, he was preceded in death by two sons, Darwin and Richard Poss; two grandsons; three brothers, Walter, Jess and Bill Poss; and three sisters, Esther Matousek, Katie Matousek and Carrie Tuma.
