Earle Brown
Earle G. Brown, 79, of Grand Island, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at BryanLGH Medical Center East in Lincoln.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a wake service at 6:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association or Central Catholic High School.

Mr. Brown was born
Feb. 13, 1920, at Aurora to McKinley "MC" and Emma (Isaman) Brown. As a young boy he moved with his family to Loup City where he began his education. Later they moved to North Platte where he continued his early childhood education.
The family moved to Grand Island and he graduated from Grand Island Senior High. He entered the U.S. Army on Aug. 27, 1942, and served during World War II in the medical Corp.
He married Marjorie M. Teahon on Oct. 23, 1943, in Grand Island. He received his discharge on April 19, 1946. He began working for Consolidated Mills (Con-Agra) as a feedpacker and worked until 1951 when loss of sight and health problems forced him to retire. He became a "stay-at-home-dad" and a homemaker.
He was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Julie (Mrs. Jerry) Mayne of Overland Park, Kan., Karen (Mrs. Jim) Miner of Topeka, Kan., Jean Richeal of Grand Island and Jane (Mrs. Dick) Carlson of Walworth, Wis.; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Donald J. of Grand Island, Harold "Tom" of Orange, Calif. and Jarold "Jerry" of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and one sister, Mae Jean (Mrs. Hal) Kuhlmann of Whitney, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edwin.
Dorothy Davis
Dorothy H. Davis, 78, of Grand Island died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Frankie Kemling
Frankie M. Kemling, 67, of Grand Island died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at St. Francis Memorial Health Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. Lee Casey will officiate. Burial will be in the Aurora Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice.
Mrs. Kemling was born
on Aug. 4, 1932, at Groesbeck, Texas, to Franklin and Sarah (Phillips) McCollum. She grew up and was educated at Agua Dulce, Texas, and graduated from high school there.
She married Orville Kemling on March 25, 1966, at Aurora. They moved to Grand Island in 1972, and she owned and operated the Kemling Supper Club on South Locust Street. She also worked with her husband as a horse trainer. Mr. Kemling died in June 1996.
Survivors include three daughters, Lora Kemling of Grand Island, Brenda Sisson of Tulsa, Okla., and Susan (Mrs. Mike) Kemling of Aurora; three sons, Kenneth Ray Clark of El Campo, Texas, Wilbur Kemling of Denver and Richard Kemling of Glenvil; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Thomas McCollum of Fredericksburg, Texas; and three sisters, Lillie "Billie" Nichols of Rockport, Texas, Evelyn Hall of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Kathy McCoy of Kingsville, Texas.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Broome.
Oleta Hansen
GRAPEVINE, Texas -- Oleta L. Hansen, 82, of Grapevine, Texas, formerly of Ord, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at Grapevine.
She was cremated.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ord Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Mark Middendorf will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Bertha Jares
ST. PAUL -- Bertha M. Jares, 78, of St. Paul died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at the Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. Ellen Campbell will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice, the St. Paul Library or St. Albert's School in Council Bluffs, Iowa
Mrs. Jares was born
on Aug. 28, 1921, near Winneton to Louis and Emma (Jacob) Berger. She grew up in Burke, S.D., and Winneton. She attended Winneton schools and graduated from high school in 1939. She then worked as a telephone operator in Winneton for two years before moving to Omaha in 1941. In Omaha, she worked as a maid from 1941 to 1943 and worked as an inspector at the Glen L. Martin Bomber Plant at Offutt Air Force Base from 1943 to 1945. She then moved to St. Paul.
She married Louis Jares on June 1, 1947, in Grand Island. She worked with her husband when he purchased the Whale Café and then Louie's Café until 1959. She continued to work in the family businesses at their gift shop, laundromat and trailer court. She retired in 1994.
She enjoyed reading, cooking and traveling.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Jerry of Council Bluffs, Iowa; two granddaughters; and one sister, Leona Colomb of Erlanger, Ky.
She was preceded in death by one son, Ronnie.
Charlotte Keever
HASTINGS -- Charlotte A. Keever, 83, of Hastings died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Village, in Hastings.
Private family services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Simonson-Williams Funeral Home in Red Cloud. The Rev. Roger Trautman and Clifford Ohman will officiate. Burial will be in the Cowles Cemetery at Cowles.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice at Perkins, Good Samaritan Village, in Hastings.
Mrs. Keever was born
on Nov. 15, 1916, at Cowles to Jesse Hamilton and Celia Florence (Fuller) Marshbanks. She graduated from Cowles High School in 1935. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Red Cloud, where she worked as a waitress at the Royal Café. She then moved to Willits, Calif., and two years later moved to Wyoming, where she cooked at a dude ranch for a number of years.
In 1941, she moved to Holdrege and, in 1951, returned to Red Cloud, where she worked at the J.C. Penney store. She was also cashier at the Red Cloud Theatre.
She married Ira Keever on Sept. 28, 1970, and they moved to Sterling, Colo., where she continued to work for J.C. Penney. Mr. Keever died on Jan. 22, 1986, and Mrs. Keever moved to Hastings in 1992.
Survivors include a daughter, Heather Graves of Grand Island; four stepdaughters, Donna Ohman of Arvada, Colo., Carolyn Brookman of Westlake Village, Calif., Iola Trautmann of Bakersfield, Calif., and Beth Krems of Grant; 15 grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothea Silsby of Burr Oak, Kan., and Ethel Jones of Pahrump, Nev.
She was preceded in death by one stepson, Mark Keever; and two sisters, Edith Ellen Zackery and Celia Elizabeth Doyle.
Jay Leininger
DONIPHAN -- Jay E. Leininger, 57, of Doniphan died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Doniphan United Methodist Church. The Rev. Kenneth L. McClain Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar View Cemetery at Doniphan.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Memorials are suggested to the Doniphan Volunteer Fire Department, Doniphan Quick Response Team and National Jewish Medical Research Center in Denver.
Mr. Leininger was born
on June 7, 1942, at Laramie, Wyo., to Gerald and Marie (Brown) Leininger. He attended schools in Kirbyville and Hollister, Mo. He later moved to Branson, Mo., and to Grand Island in 1955. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1961.
He began working for Sears Farm Store in high school and was automotive manager until he entered the service.
He married Glenda J. Powers on Aug. 18, 1963, in Grand Island.
He entered the U.S. Army on Feb. 24, 1966, and served with Troop B, 1st Squadron, 14th Armed Cavalry. He was discharged on Feb. 4, 1968. The couple returned to Nebraska, where he worked for Sears Farm Store.
He began farming near Polk in 1970. The couple moved to Doniphan. He worked for Grand Island Upholstery and Boughton Equipment. He began L&B Remodeling in the early 1980s in Doniphan and Jay's Carpentry in 1986 and was in business until his death.
He was a member of Eagles Aerie 378 and the Doniphan American Legion and a past member of the Doniphan Fire Department.
He enjoyed car races, football, fishing, hunting and camping and boating with his family. Two days before his death, he completed a pretransplant lung evaluation at BryanLGH Medical Center in Lincoln.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kimberly S. (Mrs. Doug) Vaske of Centerton, Ark., and Kelly J. Leininger of Lincoln; one grandson; one brother, Lee Leininger of Payson, Ariz.; and one sister, Janice (Mrs. Ben) Matchett of Albion.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Judy Faulkner.
Robert Powers
ST. PAUL -- Robert D. Powers, 54, of St. Paul, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at the Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Rev. Larry Lepper will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Lisa Wampole
ST. LIBORY -- Lisa S. Schnase Wampole, 30, of St. Libory, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Peace Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Kunze will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Mrs. Wampole was cremated.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to Acute Respiratory Stress Syndrome.
Apfel-Butler-Geddes is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wampole was born
Oct. 4, 1969, at Grand Island to Gary and Esther (Luebke) Schnase. She grew up in Grand Island and was educated at Dodge Elementary School, Barr Junior High School and graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1988. She attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Travel Agency School in Lincoln.
She married Troy Wampole on Aug. 23, 1997, at Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island. She worked at Record town, Bosselman and for the last five years at GIA.
Survivors include her husband of St. Libory; her parents of Grand Island; one son, Cyrus Wampole; and a stepdaughter, Chelsy Wampole.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Gertrude Luebke and Alfred and Scotty Schnase.
