Quinten Clausen
AURORA -- Quinten C. Clausen, 50, of Aurora and formerly of Kearney died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at O'Brien-Straatmann-Apfel Funeral Home in Kearney. The Rev. Ron Roemmich will officiate. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 759 and the National Guard Unit of Kearney.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Disabled Veterans Association.
Mr. Clausen owned the Haus of Meats. At the time of his death, he worked for Elite Exteriors of Grand Island. He had previously worked at Mar-Bol Distribution in Grand Island for several years.
Survivors include two sons, Quinten Jr. of Kearney and Whitney Wayde of Omaha; a daughter, Delaney of Kearney; his parents, of Kearney; three sisters, Marcella Luhn of Grand Island, Elvena Forke of Beatrice and Patsy Clausen of Ravenna; and a special friend, Dorothy Schroeder of Aurora.
Alice Naprstek
ORD -- Alice M. Naprstek, 87, of Ord died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ord United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jim Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Bohemian Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Ord Memorial Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Valley County Nursing Home or the family.
Mrs. Naprstek was born
on July 16, 1912, in Valley County to Joseph and Mary (Zikmund) Dworak. She attended school in the Sandflats area of Valley County and was a housekeeper in and around Ord.
She married Frank Naprstek on Jan. 12, 1937, in Ord. The couple lived in the Sandflats area before moving 10 miles northeast of Ord, where they farmed and raised cattle for 54 years. Mr. Naprstek died on Nov. 25, 1999. Mrs. Naprstek moved to Parkview Village in Ord and had been a resident at the Valley County Nursing Home since January.
She was a member of the Plain Valley Extension Club and enjoyed ceramics, crocheting, flowers, gardening, reading and doing farm work alongside her husband.
Survivors include one daughter, JoAnn Duda of Ord; two sons, Allen of Valparaiso and Dale of Valentine; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn (Mrs. Jack) Hackett of Grand Island.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson; two brothers, George and Ed Dworak; and two sisters, Irene and Alma Cetak.
Opal Shay
ALMA -- Opal Mae Shay, 97, of Alma died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at the Colonial Villa Good Samaritan Center in Alma.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Banta-Torrey Funeral Chapel in Alma. The Revs. Glen Meyers and Melvin Zichek will officiate. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery in Trumbull.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Alma.
Mrs. Shay was born
on Jan. 19, 1903, in Juniata to Amos and Pearl (Robinson) Stafford. She attended school in Hastings and graduated in 1921.
She married Francis "Frank" Shay on Aug. 2, 1922, in Hastings. The couple lived in Hastings and then moved to Central City in 1935. They moved to Whittier, Calif., in 1940 before returning to Central City in 1945. They moved back to Hastings in 1965 and moved to Alma in 1971. Mr. Shay died on Oct. 16, 1985.
Mrs. Shay had been a resident of the Colonial Villa in Alma since Sept. 22, 1994.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Alma and a former member of the Rebecca Lodge in Alma and the NCHA Camping Club.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Inez Patterson.
Dr. Charles Danielson
LINCOLN -- Dr. Charles Danielson, 78, of Lincoln died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2000.
Private burial services will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island. Memorials services will be at a later date.
Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the University of Minnesota Medical School, the American Cancer Society or St. Elizabeth's Home Hospice.
Dr. Danielson was born
at Hopkins, Minn., to David and Octavia Danielson. He was a general surgeon for the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island.
Survivors include four daughters, Patricia Phillips of Frisco, Calif., and Charlynn Danielson, Pam Fulcher and Karen Wempe of Lincoln; four grandchildren; one brother, Robert Danielson of LaMesa, Calif.; and one sister, Dorothy Smith of Burnesville, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy.
Donna Elliott
TILDEN -- Donna Jean Elliott, 64, of Tilden died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Faith Regional Hospital in Norfolk.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Palmer United Methodist Church. The Revs. Ken West and Henrietta Stemley will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Palmer.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Palmer's Funeral Home in Palmer.
Memorials are suggested to the Palmer Rescue Squad or the Tilden Nursing Center Memorial Fund.
Mrs. Elliot was born
on Sept. 19, 1935, at Palmer to George E. and Helen M. (Obermiller) Spilger. She attended Gage Valley School in rural Howard County and graduated from Palmer High School in 1953. She graduated from Lincoln General School of Nursing in Lincoln in 1956.
She worked as a registered nurse at Lincoln General Hospital before moving to Knoxville, Tenn., and working at Knoxville General Hospital. She moved back to Nebraska in the late 1960s and worked at convalescent homes in Lincoln and Omaha. She retired in 1972 due to illness.
In the mid-1970s, she moved to Phoenix, where she lived until 1986. She then lived in Lincoln until 1997, when she moved to the Tilden Nursing Center.
She enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, sports and animals.
Survivors include two sisters, Gladys Patton of Fullerton and Sandra Baird of New Haven, Conn.
Helen Munn
NEW CAMBRIA, Mo. -- Helen P. Munn, 93, of New Cambria, Mo., formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Samaritan Hospital in Macon, Mo.
Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Gilleland and McElwain Funeral Home in New Cambria.
Memorials are suggested to the United Church of New Cambria or the New Cambria Cemetery.
Mrs. Munn was born
on March 9, 1906, in rural Grand Island to Jacob and Cecelia (Ott) Pahl.
She married Kenneth Jennings "Jack" Munn on Dec. 27, 1931, at Omaha. The Munns moved to New Cambria in April 1948. They owned and operated the New Cambria Sale Barn from 1948 until 1974. During that time, she ran the restaurant. Mr. Munn died on June 16, 1989.
Mrs. Munn was a member of the United Church of New Cambria. She was also a member of Cambria Rebekah Lodge 723.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna (Mrs. Jerald) Coulson of Macon, Mo.; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 11 brothers and sisters.
Dorothy Davis
Dorothy H. Davis, 78, of Grand Island died Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Third City Christian Church with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kleine Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Mrs. Davis was born
on Dec. 23, 1921, at Palmer to Ivan and Aleda (Anderson) Swadley. She spent her early years in Palmer, where she attended school and was a member of the First Christian Church.
After her marriage to Otis Davis, they moved to Grand Island. She worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant and then worked at Lutheran Hospital in the laundry department for more than 20 years.
She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and listening to music.
Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Kay (Mrs. John) Laws and Betty (Mrs. Jim) Findley of Grand Island, Wanda (Mrs. David) Schaff and Ellen Thompson of Tucson, Ariz., and Linda (Mrs. Robert) Soto of Wood River; one foster daughter, Lynn Salpus of Grand Island; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Wayne Swadley of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by one son, Melvin; one daughter, Patricia Stenka; and one great-grandson.
Ava Fulmer
Ava O. Fulmer, 93, of Grand Island died Monday, Feb. 7, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home. The Rev. Richard M. Bacon will officiate. Burial will be in the Wood River Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church.
Survivors include a nephew, Jim Krull of Grand Island, and a niece, Mildred (Mrs. Delbert) Chadwick of Denver, who were her caregivers; and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim, Ray and Harvey Fulmer; and two sisters, Zeola Krull and Gertrude Christsen.
Marie Church
CENTRAL CITY -- Marie Church, 99, of Central City, formerly of Clarks, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital in Central City.
Services are pending with Solt Funeral Home.
