ST. PAUL — Lila M. Sekutera, 83, of Loup City died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, at Howard County Community Hospital in St. Paul.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with the Rev. Louis Nollette officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Loup City.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church with a vigil service at 7 p.m.
Peters Funeral Home in Loup City is in charge of arrangements.
She was born
Oct. 31, 1921, in Litchfield to Calvin and Sarah (Juett) Lewis.
On April 7, 1953, she married Clarence Sekutera in Loup City. He died Nov. 4, 1983.
Survivors include her son, Clarence of Loup City; daughters, Darlene Maahs of Aurora, Maxine Burke of Grand Island and Lucille Marsh of Kearney; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; stepdaughter, Renae Chelewski; and three stepgrandchildren.
Ida Reiss
Gibbon resident, 86
KEARNEY — Ida C. Reiss, 86, of Gibbon died Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gibbon Baptist Church with the Rev. Gordon Paulsen officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Godberson Mortuary in Gibbon
She was born
July 31, 1918, in Cairo to Charles and Katie (Molt) Engel.
On Nov. 18, 1936, she married Rex Cline. He died in December 1968.
On Feb. 7, 1975, she married August Reiss of Holdrege. He died in 1990.
Survivors include her sons, Don Cline and Jim Cline, both of Gibbon, and Robert Cline of Kearney; daughter, Barbara Henderson of Arvada, Colo.; sister, Laura Cyboron of Boelus; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, stepson, Leland Reiss of Wilcox; stepdaughter, Delores Konert of Wilcox; seven stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was educated in Cairo through 10th grade.
She and her first husband lived in Gibbon and raised their family there. All five of their children graduated from Gibbon High School.
She worked for 18 years at the Gibbon Turkey Plant and then at Baldwin Manufacturing for 20 years before retiring. She always was a hard worker.
She raised a large garden and canned the fruits and vegetables of her labor to feed her family of seven.
She and her second husband lived in Holdrege.
On May 9, 1976, she was baptized at Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege.
After the death of her second husband, she moved back to Gibbon to be close to her children.
In Gibbon, she made new friends and renewed old friendships. She was very active at the senior centers both in Holdrege and Gibbon. Playing cards was one of her favorite pastimes, and she was quite a card shark. Since returning to Gibbon, she had been attending First Baptist Church of Gibbon.
She was a Gold Star member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 310. In World War II, her brother Richard Engel was killed in France in June 1944.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Mulder; a grandson, Kirk Metcalf; an infant grandson; an infant great-grandson; three brothers; and three sisters.
Memorials are suggested to Gibbon Baptist Church, the Gibbon Rescue Unit or the Gibbon-Shelton Senior Center.

LEXINGTON — Maria Sanchez de Garcia, 37, and Javier Garcia, 4, both of Lexington, died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Tri-County Hospital in Lexington as a result of a house fire.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lexington with the Rev. Paul Colling officiating. Burial will be later in Mexico.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington. Wake service will be at 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Garry Prescott
Broken Bow resident, 60
BROKEN BOW - Garry J. Prescott, 60, of Broken Bow died Friday, June 28, 2002, at Jennie Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Dr. Charles Spence officiating. Burial will be at Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
He was born
May 15, 1942, in Arnold to Eldon and Gladys (June) Prescott. He moved to Broken Bow with his family and attended school there.
He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served until he received a medical discharge.
He attended college at Milford for auto body repair and was employed by Arrow Motors in Broken Bow.
He moved to California and then returned to Nebraska. He lived in several places before operating an auction business in Springfield. He returned to Broken Bow in 1988.
He was partially disabled by a stroke in 1991. He became a resident at Sandhills Manor.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gambling, tinkering on cars and spending time with family.
Survivors include his mother of Broken Bow; father of Idaho; sisters, Bonnie Chapin of Broken Bow and Gaylene Amm of Oconto; and special friend Eva Harrison of Broken Bow.
Virgil D. "Red" Hagan
Culbertson resident, 80
KEARNEY - Virgil D. "Red" Hagan, 80, of Culbertson died Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Lexington with the Rev. K.C. BeDunnah officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Reynolds-Love Chapel in Lexington.
Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans or the donor's choice.
He was born
Feb. 22, 1922, in Eddyville, to Frank and Cora (Wilson) Hagan. He grew up in the Eddyville area where he graduated.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II under General Patton as a tank commander. He received the Purple Heart and the Bronze and Silver stars.
On Feb. 21, 1947, he married Velma Bice, in Norton, Kan. She died March 24, 1997.
He was in law enforcement in Rooks County, Kansas for 25 years. Before that he had patrolled in Lexington for several years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, water-skiing and was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed spending time with family.
He was a member of VFW Posts 8873 of Stockton, Kan., and 8871 of Plainville, Kan.
Survivors include his sons, Larry of Gering, Corky of Plainville and Greg of Ellis, Kan.; daughters, Connie Hinds of Kearney and Gloria Adkins of Minden; brothers, Harold of Anderson, Mo., Alfred of Spavinaw, Okla., Earl of Guthrie, Okla., Kenneth and Robert, both of Lexington, and Clifford of Sutherland; sisters, Edith Cunningham of Gothenburg, Ellen Adams of Brownsville, Texas, Verla Whidby of Bullhead City, Ariz. and Velma Blythe of Brownwood, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and special friend, Lucille Hagan of Culbertson.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, a brother, a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter.
Glenard Warren Leverington
Broken Bow, 94
BROKEN BOW - Glenard Warren Leverington, 94, of Broken Bow died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Sandhills Manor in Broken Bow.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Keith Archer officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway.
Visitation will be until 8 p.m. today with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. at the mortuary in Broken Bow.
Memorials are suggested to the Church of God or the Church of the Nazarene.
He was born
Aug. 27, 1908, in Winslow, Ill., to Bert and Ada (Holmes) Leverington. The family moved to Burlington, Colo., in 1931.
On July 22, 1933, he married Meredith Pinnell in Burlington. They moved to Nebraska in 1939.
He worked for several farmers. He moved to Broken Bow in 1943. He drove a truck for Ken Headley and Gail Clay. He started driving for himself and contracted with Butter Krust Bakery in Grand Island and later with Roberts Dairy and Meadow Gold Dairy. He drove part time for Arrow Seed from 1972 to 1982. He retired in 1982.
He enjoyed houseplants and gardening.
Survivors include his sons, Orval, William, Larry and Glenard, all of Broken Bow, Kenneth of Grand Island and Robert of Kennet, Mo.; daughters, Lillian Harmon, Myrtle Shirkey and Jannie Prentice, all of Broken Bow, and Mary Veverka of Sargent; brothers, Clifford of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Kenneth of Stevens Lake, Wash.; 28 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, twin sons, two daughters, two brothers, five sisters and four grandchildren.
Alice Huff
Franklin, 71
FRANKLIN - Alice Huff, 71, of Franklin died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at her home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today (Saturday) at Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin with the Rev. Nancy Cole officiating. The body was cremated.
She married Harold Huff on Jan. 13, 1949. She was a homemaker and mother.
Survivors include her husband; son, Cary of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; daughter, Cynthia Paulantelis of Denver; and sister, Mildred Magwire of Tilden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Mollie (Thompson) Paulsen; six brothers; and one sister.
