Julia Erickson
The funeral for Julia Z. Erickson, 95, of Oakland will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Evangelical Free Church in Oakland.
She died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Oakland Heights.
Julia Voigt was born
Feb. 5, 1908, in rural Hooper. She was raised on a farm south of Swaburg and graduated from Hooper High School in 1926. She married Earl J. Erickson of Oakland on April 9, 1927. They farmed in the Swaburg area until 1933, then moved west of Oakland where they farmed until moving into Oakland in 1935. She worked in the grocery store for Gust Nelson and later Curly Nelson for a total of 31 1/2 years. She retired from the grocery business in 1981 after being diagnosed with cancer. Her spouse preceded her in death April 27, 1978.
She was active in the Evangelical Free Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Survivors include: a son, Leonard (and wife, Shirley) Erickson of Oakland; a daughter, Corallie (Mrs. Ambrose) Anderson of Fremont; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter and a sister.
The Rev. Russell G. Jones will officiate Friday's service. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Palmquist-Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland and one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Memorials have been established to Evangelical Free Church and Oakland Heights.
Maria Hernandez-Otero
Maria A. Hernandez-Otero, 30, of Fremont died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, as a result of an auto accident west of North Bend.
She was born
Jan. 27, 1973, in Sensuntepeque, Cabanas, El Salvador. She came to the United States in 1993 and lived in California and did field work for various farmers. She moved to Lexington in 1998 and worked at Iowa Beef Processors. She came to Fremont in January 2003.
Survivors include: her husband, Henny Mejia-Sote of Fremont; a daughter, Rocycela Hernandez of Fremont; her parents, Ismael Hernandez Alvarenga and Ines Otero del Hernandez, both of El Salvador; four brothers, Oscar Agoto of Fremont, David Hernandez of Lexington, Jose Ismael Hernandez and Jose Agustin Hernandez, both of El Salvador; and four sisters, Maria Vilma Hernandez, Ana I. Hernandez and Maria Inez Hernandez, all of El Salvador, and Blanca Hernandez of Lexington.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Fremont, 3600 E. 16th St. The Rev. Damien Cook will officiate. A prayer service will be 7 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. today at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in El Salvador.
Mayme Racek
Mayme M. Racek, 91, of Morse Bluff died today, June 5, 2003, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Arrangements are pending at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend.
Margaret West
Margaret L. West, 81, of Hubbard, Iowa, died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Margaret Dubberke was born
Nov. 4, 1921, on a farm southwest of Hubbard. She attended school at Concord Country School and graduated from Hubbard High School in May 1939. She married Myron West on July 25, 1942. They lived in Cairo until early 1943 when they moved back to Hubbard. They lived on a farm south of Hubbard for 28 years. They moved to Nevada, Iowa, in 1978, and lived there for 11 years during which time they were instrumental in the formation of Faith Lutheran Church. They moved to Hubbard in 1989.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, vacation Bible school superintendent and a Lutheran Women's Mission League member, as well as serving many Mission Circle offices and in other church activities.
Survivors include: two sons, Dennis (and wife, Elaine) West of Ames, Iowa, and David Espanola of New Mexico; three daughters, Lucy (Mrs. Dwayne) Klocke of Arlington, Linda (Mrs. David) Hinderaker of Radcliffe, Iowa, and Lori (Mrs. Gary) McNeeley of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, two sisters and two brothers.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hubbard. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be in Hubbard Cemetery.

Ross J. Mlnarik
The funeral for Ross J. Mlnarik, 19, of Fremont will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 3400 E. 16th St., Fremont.
He died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings after a motor vehicle accident.
Mlnarik was born
July 31, 1983, in Fremont. He grew up in Fremont and was a 2001 graduate of Archbishop Bergan Catholic Schools and attended Midland Lutheran College, both in Fremont. He would have been a junior in college this fall. He was employed by Liquid Feed Commodities in Fremont.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. He was a member of the Midland College track team for the last two years and of Kappa Phi Fraternity at Midland.
Survivors include: his parents, Robert and Elaine Mlnarik of Fremont; two brothers, Ryan (and wife, Denise) Mlnarik and Heath (and wife, Jenni) Mlnarik, all of Omaha; grandparents, Leslie and Rose Mlnarik of Fremont and Adella Birchem of West Point.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather.
The Rev. Roland Peschel will officiate Saturday's service. A vigil service will start at 7 p.m. Friday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
Memorials have been established to the church and Fremont Bergan High School.
David Butzin
The funeral for David A. Butzin, 42, of Fremont will be 11 a.m. Monday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont.
He died Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at Fremont Area Medical Center.
Butzin was born
Aug. 18, 1960, in Sioux City, Iowa. He lived at Overland Park, Kan. for a short time until moving to Omaha where he was a 1977 graduate of Burke High School. He was a 1988 graduate of Harley-Davidson Mechanic School in Phoenix. He has lived in Fremont for the past 13 years. He was a former employee at Oil Gear in Fremont from 1993 to 2000 and has been employed at Brand Hydraulics in Omaha as a machinist.
He attended Salvation Army Church. He fished, did gardening and played pool.
He married Maxine Harshbarger on April 14, 2002, in Fremont.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, Erik Butzin of Carrollton, Texas; a daughter, Justina Archer of Fremont; a stepson, Tony Harshbarger of Fremont; his mother, Dorothy Butzin of Omaha; and two brothers, Larry and Steve Butzin, both of Omaha.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Capt. Abe Tamayo of the Salvation Army will officiate Monday's service. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-11 a.m. Monday, with family receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday, all at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Fremont.
Eleanor Hanzl
The funeral for Eleanor M. Hanzl, 85, of Dodge will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge.
She died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at Parkview Home in Dodge.
Eleanor Karnik was born
May 21, 1918, in rural Dodge. She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. She married Lumir Hanzl on June 7, 1938, in Dodge. The couple lived on the family farm north of Dodge until they purchased the Joe Stecher farm in 1966. She worked as a nurse's aid at Parkview Home for 15 years and enjoyed communicating with the residents in the Czech language. She then cared for her husband at home during his terminal illness. Her spouse preceded her in death on March 16, 1984. She was a resident of Parkview Home since Aug. 1998. She was active in the St. Wenceslaus Altar Society and enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She enjoyed traveling and took fishing trips with friends to Minn. Her hobbies included crocheting, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include: a daughter, Kathy (Mrs. Lee) Machmuller of Grand Island; a daughter-in-law, Marky Hanzl of Dodge; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, son and sister.
The Rev. Dennis DeGuzman will officiate Monday's service. Visitation will be from 2:30-8 p.m. Sunday at the church. A prayer service will be held 9:30 a.m. Monday at Humlicek Funeral Home. There will be a rosary at 3 p.m. given by Altar Society and a wake at 7 p.m. for the public given by Christian Mothers' Society, both at the church. Burial will be in
St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in rural Dodge.

Joyce Johnson
Joyce Johnson, 54, of Fremont died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at her home.

Mary Rolf
The funeral for Mary G. "Dolly" Rolf, 87, of Mission Viejo, Calif., formerly of Fremont, will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Fourth and C streets, in Fremont.
She died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, at Capistrano Beach Nursing Center in Capistrano Beach, Calif. Mary Long was born
Dec. 19, 1915, in Bismark, N.D. She lived in Solen, N.D., where she met her husband, Ted. They were married
Sept. 13, 1933. They also lived in Mandan, N.D., and Fremont. They were married 49 years until his death on Oct. 14, 1982. She then moved to California to live with their daughter.
Dolly was especially fond of nature. She also is survived by her white dove she had since 1980. She spent most of her years at handiwork, crocheting and quilting. She attended Catholic church regularly. She was a dedicated friend and avid writer of letters. She enjoyed sitting in the sunshine. Survivors include: a daughter, Margaret Marcia Rolf-Moeller of Mission Viejo; a granddaughter, Lorie Jean Moeller-Heineken (and husband, Harry Heineken) and three great-grandchildren, Grant, Ryan and Jennifer Heineken of Mission Viejo. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Cornelius, Charles and Digby. The Rev. Roland Peschel will officiate Monday's service. Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Fremont.
Ethel Sebesta
Ethel L. Sebesta, 67, of West Point died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at West Point Living Center.
A private family service will be held later. There will be no visitation.

Donald Rood
Donald H. Rood, 73, of Wahoo died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004, in Wahoo.
Rood was born
Feb. 17, 1931. He graduated from Wahoo High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married Doris Ecklund on June 10, 1951, in Wahoo. He entered semi-retirement in 1999, but remained passionate about farming.
He was active for many years as a 4-H leader. He was a dairy leader, and later organized the Wahoo Wheelers 4-H Club. He also was a longtime member of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation committee. He was a member, for many years, of the Order of the Eastern Star and Masonic Lodge in Wahoo. He was Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge in 1970, and was known through the years for his delivery of the Funeral Oratory for many of his lodge brothers.
Survivors include: his wife; a son, David of Wahoo; a daughter, Debra (Mrs. Lee) Plybon of Wahoo; two sisters, Norma (Mrs. Don) Veskrna of Wahoo and Deanna Laughlin of Omaha; and three granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Wahoo with the Rev. Armin Vogt officiating. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home in Wahoo. A Masonic service will be led by Wahoo Lodge 59 A.F. & A.M. Burial will be in Sunrise North Cemetery in Wahoo.
Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church of Wahoo, St. Elizabeth Hospice and Haven House.
