Dennis P. Wesely
Dennis P. Wesely, age 73, of Prague, died Saturday, April 24, 2004, at Beverly Healthcare in Schuyler Funeral Services for Mr. Wesely will be Wednesday, 10:00 AM at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Prague. Reverend Ron Homes officiating with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from noon-5PM at the Kucera Funeral Home in Prague and from 6-8PM at the church. There will be one Rosary Service at 7:30PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday morning at the church. Dennis was born
April 30, 1930, in Cedar Bluffs, Nebraska to Rudolph and Anna J. (Voboril) Wesely. After graduation form high school, he served for 2 years in the National Guard. On August 4, 1951, he married Loretta Shimerka at St. John's Catholic Church in Prague. They farmed in the Prague area until moving to town in 1996. Dennis was a bandleader for 48 years and a very accomplished musician. His band was known as THE SWEETEST BAND IN NEBRASKALAND. He was an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus and past member of the Wahoo Neuman School Board, Musicians Local #463 of Lincoln, the building committe at the church, served as church organist for many years and belonged to Alcoholics Anonymous for over 8 years. He also played in the 43rd Army Band. He is survived by his wife, Loretta of Prague, 2 daughters, Denise Ellis of Mahomet, Illinois, Mary Beth Wesely of Beatrice, 2 sons, Brad Wesely of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Tim (Stephanie) Wesely of Bellwood. 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ralph Wesely, one sister, Angela Shonka and a grandson, Chris Ellis.
Verleen Joy (Kramar) Salak
Memorial services for Verleen, Mrs. Duane Salak,63, of Monterray California, will be held Saturday, August 28th at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler, 2:00PM. The family will receive friends from 1-2PM.
Verleen Joy (Kramar) Salak was born
December 19, 1940, in Los Angeles, California. She attended college and on January 5, 1960, married Duane Salak in Bellville, Kansas. They lived in Schuyler for many years and she was a housewife.
Verleen is survived by her husband, Duane of Monterrey, California, daughter Jill and sons Michael, Patrick and Peter, two brothers, John (Sally) Kramar of Schuyler and Ron MacWillie of Garden Grove, California. She is also survived by three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Christine Pfenning.

Albin "Beanie" Ustohal
Albin "Beanie" Ustohal, 91, of Schuyler, died Wednesday, September 22nd, at Beverly Healthcare in Schuyler.
Funeral services for Albin will be held Saturday, 10:00 AM, ST. Mary's Catholic Church in Schuyler, Reverend Bill Bond officiating. Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery rural Linwood. Visitation Friday from noon-8PM with a 7PM Rosary Service for the Knights of Columbus and Parish, all at Kracl Funeral Chapel. Visitation continues Saturday from 8:00 -9:45AM, at Kracl Funeral Chapel. There will be a lunch in the church basement following the committal.
Beanie was born
March 28, 1913, in Linwood, Nebraska to Frank and Josephine (Mensik) Ustohal. He attended District 10 in Butler County and graduated from Linwood High School. On June 9, 1936, he married Gladys Spatz in Brainard. He farmed near Linwood and retired to Schuyler in 1984. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, the Knights of Columbus and formerly served on the District 10 School Board, Platte Township Board, Linwood Rural Fire District and was a past trustee of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Linwood. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards, music and sports.
He is survived by one daughter, Ann Pelan of Schuyler, a sister, Adeline Ustohal of Lincoln, nieces , nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys (1997), infant daughter Bonnie Jean (1944) and one sister, Olga Mares. Family suggests memorials to Donors Choice.
Helen J. Kment
Helen J. Kment, 90, of Schuyler, died Thursday, September 23rd, at Beverly Healthcare in Schuyler.
Services are scheduled for 10:30AM, Monday, at Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler, Lay Minister Jerry L. Kracl officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Sunday from 2-8PM with the family receiving friends from 5-7PM and Monday from 8:30 until time of service. There will be a lunch at the funeral chapel following the committal.
Helen was born
February 16, 1914, in Schuyler to Adolph and Christine (Misek) Houfek. She attended school in Stanton. On October 15, 1935, she married Jerry Kment in Schuyler. They farmed north of Schuyler until 1981 when they moved into town.
Helen is survived by one son, Marion"Mike" (Dee) Kment of Schuyler, a sister-in-law, Joyce Houfek of Schuyler, step-grandson David (Deb) Brown of Schuyler, several nieces and nephews, 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and 5-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Arnold, Adolph, Gerald and Edward Houfek.

Kenneth Dale Henry
Kenneth Dale Henry, 63, of Schuyler, died Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at the Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, after he and his family waged a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services for Ken will be Saturday, 2:00PM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Schuyler, Reverend Tom Hallowell officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 2-8PM with a 7:30PM Prayer Service, and Saturday from 9-noon, all at Kracl Funeral Chapel. Visitation continues at the church Saturday, 1:00PM.
Ken was born
October 28, 1941, in Columbus, Nebraska to Elmer R. and Emma (Loveless) Henry. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1960. On December 4, 1961, he married Karen Abraham in Elk Point South Dakota. He lived his entire life in Colfax County, moving to Schuyler in 1966. He began working at Spencer Beef in 1967 and continued to work for Cargill Beef Solutions. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Schuyler Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. Ken also served in the United States Naval Reserves.
He is survived by his wife, Karen of Schuyler, four sons, David Henry and his partner, Michael Medeiros, of Los Angeles, California, Brian and his wife, Sandy Henry of Albion, Gene and his wife, Shannon Henry, of Lincoln and Aaron and his wife, Julie Henry of St. Louis, Missouri. One daughter, Denise and her husband R. Jay Sax, also of St. Louis. Ken is also survived by two brothers, Larry and Deb Henry of Richland and Thomas and Elizabeth Henry of Munnsville, New York, and one sister, Linda and her husband Russell Forney of Richland. Eight grandchildren also survive Ken.
He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Elmer Ross Henry, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Kathy Henry.

KENNETH KROEGER
KENNETH KROEGER, 81, OF SCHUYLER, DIED SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 20, 2004, AT THE IMMANUEL MEDICAL CENTER IN OMAHA. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Trinity Lutheran church in Schuyler on Wednesday, 11:00AM, Reverend Bill Mattfeld officiating. There will be a private committal at a later date. Visitation Tuesday from 4-8PM with the family present from 6-8PM, at Kracl Funeral Chapel.
Kenny was born
November 7, 1923 in Schuyler, to Edward and Anna (Nitz) Kroeger. He attended Schuyler High School and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served from 1943-1946. On September 22, 1947, he married Marge Hejl at Trinity Lutheran Church in Schuyler. He farmed and ran the Arrow Inn Cafe with his brothers for over 40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Schuyler Chapter of Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife Marge, of Schuyler, three daughters, Lana Hoover of Columbus, Gail and her husband Rick Anderson of Fremont, Kim and her husband Doc Schaefer of Columbus, one son, Kevin and his wife Lisa Kroeger of Blair, a brother, Marvin Kroeger of Schuyler, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Ben Hoover in 2002, granddaughter Mikayla Anderson in 1985 and one brother, Norval Kroeger.

Marie was born
March 1, 1919, in rural Prague, Nebraska to Vaclav and Anna (Nemec) Odvody. She grew up on a farm near Prague and attended Saunders County District 51 School. On September 10, 1940, she married Rudolph Vanek at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague. They farmed southwest of Prague until retiring to Prague in 1988.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Birthday Club.
Marie is survived by her husband, Rudy of Prague, son and daughter-in-law, Rudy and Janice Vanek of Prague, daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Eddie Kratky of Prague and Maxine and Gary Kratky of Omaha. 5 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Emil, Tom, John, Vaclav and Ernest Odvody and one sister, Tillie Bushek.

Emma was born
February 21, 1914, in Touhy, Nebraska, to Joseph and Anna (Severin) Pekarek. She married Vaclav Odvody, Jr. on November 27, 1935, at the courthouse in Lincoln. They lived and farmed north of Prague until moving to town in 1968. She was a homemaker, member of the church and the St. John's Rosary Society.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce (Victor) Sousek, Prague and Nancy (Marion) Samek of Lincoln, one son, Dennis (Yvonne) Odvody of Prague. 8 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 11 step great-grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Arlene Odvody of Fremont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one step great-granddaughter, three sisters, Carrie Epperson, Rose Suchy and Anna Suchy, four brothers, Frank, Louis, Joseph and James Pekarek.

Emerson Kohler, 83, of Schuyler, died Thursday, January 27, 2005, at the Beverly Healthcare facility in Schuyler. Funeral services for Emerson are set for Monday, 11:00AM, Kracl Funeral Chapel in Schuyler. Lay Minister Jerry L. Kracl officiating. Burial in the Schuyler Cemetery with Military Graveside Services by Hespen-Mitchell Post #4836 of the V.F.W. and McLeod Post #47 of the American Legion. Visitation Sunday from 11-8PM with the family present from 5-7PM. Visitation continues Monday from 8:30 to time of Service.
Emerson was born
August 16, 1921, in Columbus, Nebraska, to Henry and Mable (Van Housen) Kohler. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1941. He was in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1945, serving in the Phillipines and Australia. On January 13, 1946, he married Nadine Davenport in Bellville, Kansas. He owned and operated Kohler Transfer with his brother Bob, until retiring in 1982. He was the President of the V.F.W. Last Man's Club and an Honorary Member of the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department.
Emerson is survived by his wife, Nadine, of Schuyler, one son, Rick and his wife Sam Kohler, also of Schuyler, two grandchildren, Tracy and her husband Travis Long, Columbus, and one grandson, Terry Kohler, a student at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and his great-granddaughter, Joey Long, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lucille Higgins and three brothers, Anson, Roy and Bob Kohler.

Edwin McNally
Edwin McNally, 83, of Schuyler, died Sunday January 23, 2005, at the Beverly Healthcare Facility in Schuyler. Ed was born
September 19, 1921, in Colfax County to James Henry and Hannah (Scanlon) McNally. He served in the United States Army during World War II and earned a Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the V.F.W., American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. He married Clara Lapacek in West Point, Nebraska on August 22, 1942. He worked most of his life in the Omaha area and retired to Schuyler.
Edwin is survived by one daughter, Judith McNally of Omaha, two brothers, Leo and his wife Mildred, Leonard "Tiny" and his wife Agnes, all of Schuyler, special friend Agnes Newvirth, Schuyler and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Clara, two brothers, Kenneth and James McNally, two sisters, Mary Emmanuel and Margaret Groene. Memorials may be given to the Donor's favorite charity.
George Andel
George Andel, 77, of David City, died Sunday January 23, 2005, at the Butler County Hospital in David City.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial, Wednesday, 10:00AM, St. Mary's Catholic Church in David City. Reverend Christopher Goodwin officiating. Burial in the Assumption Cemetery in Appleton with Graveside Military Honors by Post #125 of the American Legion and Post #5814 of the V.F.W. Visitation Tuesday from noon-8PM with a 7PM Vigil Service, at the Kracl Funeral Chapel in David City. There will also be visitation Wednesday from 9:00-9:45AM at the Chapel.
George was born
July 31, 1927, in Butler County to Frank and Veronica (Janak) Andel. He never married. George served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict where he was seriously wounded and received a Purple Heart. He farmed, was a painter and his greatest hobby was following all David City sporting events. George was a walking encyclopedia of sports information. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a Lifetime Member of the V.F.W.
He is survived by one brother, Robert and his wife Bernadette Andel of David City, three sisters, Martha Sejkora of Arizona City, Arizona, Elsie and her husband, Eugene (Bud) Smola of Dwight and Mary Ann and her husband Donald Romshek of Bellwood. Many nieces and nephews.
George was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Marcel Andel of Schuyler.

Fred Kadavy
Services for Fred Kadavy, 74, of Bruno, are scheduled for Thursday, January 27th, 2005, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM, St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Bruno. Reverend Ron Homes officiating. Burial in the church cemetery, with Military Graveside Services. Fred died Monday, January 24, 2005, at David Place in David City.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from noon-8PM with a 7PM Rosary Service, all at Kracl Funeral Chapel in David City. Visitation continues Thursday morning from 9:30 to time of the Mass.
Fred was born
October 16, 1930, in Dwight, Nebraska to Joseph and Mary (Hraban) Kadavy. He was a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On August 4, 1956, he married Nancy Nozicka at St. Anthony's in Bruno. He farmed near Bruno all his life. Fred was a Charter Member of the Dwight American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Bruno, two daughters, Deb and her husband Mike Kula of Rising City and Sue Hrnicek of Cary, North Carolina, five sisters, Mary Hunt of David City, Della Policky of Seward, Agnes Johnson of Grand Island, Lucille Trousil of Valparaiso and Evelyn Shonka of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Six grandchildren also survive Fred.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Emil, Joe, Frank and Jim and four sisters, Rose Pekarek, Lillian Havlena, Tillie Kadavy and Helen Kadavy, who died as an infant.

Milton Swanson
COLUMBUS -- Milton Swanson, 83, of Columbus, died Friday, April 18, 2008.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. vigil, and 8-10 p.m. Wednesday, all at Mc-Kown Funeral Home Chapel in Columbus.
Milton Dean Swanson was born
April 9, 1925, in Richland, to Norman and Evelyn (Muehlich) Swanson. He was raised and attended schools in the Schuyler area. He married Angela Johnson on April 3, 1945, at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus. Milt worked as a route salesman for Peter Pan for 17 years before operating Swanson's Market for 30 years until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, the Holy Name Society, and was a retired volunteer fireman on the Hook and Ladder Unit. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Angela Swanson of Columbus; daughter, Kathy (Buzz) Burt of Monument, Colo.; daughter, Joan (Ralph) Laird of Del Mar, Calif.; daughter, Kristi (Tom) Yungdahl of Osceola; son, Jim (Sandra) Swanson of Columbus; brother, Rolland Swanson of Naples, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, Mark (Amy) Ramsey, Jason Reynolds, Jon (Alicia) Reynolds, Jillian (James) Williams, Justin (Cynthia) Reynolds, Lindsay (Ross) Farmer, Courtney (Brian) Kounovsky, Brittney (Matt) Bixby, Trenton Swanson, Katie Swanson, Ethan Yungdahl, Libby Yungdahl, Miranda Swanson, and Wyatt Swanson; and seven great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Swanson.
Cecilia Tworek
COLUMBUS -- Cecilia K. Tworek, 88, of Columbus, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Morys Haven in Columbus.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Bonaventure Church in Columbus with the Rev. Tom Weisbecker officiating. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, with a 7:30 p.m. vigil, and from 8-10 a.m. Tuesday, all at McKown Funeral Home.
Daniel Jochum
NORFOLK -- Daniel L. Jochum, 74, of Norfolk, died Saturday, April 19, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Norfolk.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 3921 20th Street in Columbus. Family interment will be at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Battle Creek. Lunch will be served immediately following Mass in the church hall.
Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday and continues from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, all at the church. A Vigil service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, also at the church.
Daniel L. Jochum was born
Dec. 8, 1933, in Petersburg, to Arthur and Josephine (Brackle) Jochum. He grew up in Norfolk and received his education at Sacred Heart High School and Norfolk Junior College. He was united in marriage to Ruth Walz on Jan. 2, 1954, at St. Patrick Church in Battle Creek. He moved to Columbus in 1968 where he owned and operated Larson Florine Clothing Store until he retired in December of 1998. He was an avid golfer and was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Dan also served in the Nebraska National Guard for 27 years achieving the rank of Colonel.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Jochum of Columbus; daughter, Margaret Ciurej of Stephens City, Va.; sons, Greg Jochum of Columbus, Richard (Pam) Jochum of Dakota Dunes, S.D., and Howard Jochum of Falls City; nine brothers and sisters; ten grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Isidore Capital Campaign.
