Ruby K. Egger, 97, of Columbus, Nebraska died Saturday, October 26, 2002 at Beverly Health Care in Columbus.

Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus on Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Interment will be at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus.
Visitation will be held at the Gass Haney Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday at 10:15 AM at the church.

Ruby K. Egger was born icon June 20, 1905 in rural Colfax County, Nebraska to Charles and Mary (Luchsinger) Welch. She attended District #8 school in Colfax County. On January 13, 1925 Ruby married Ernest Egger in Council Bluffs, Iowa. After her husband's death in 1955, Ruby worked for 2 years at a bridal shop. She then went to work at St. Mary's Hospital in the cafeteria for 11 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, the Trinity Ladies Aid and Naomi group. She was a former member of the Eagles Women Auxiliary, the Senior Citizens bowling league and several card clubs.

LLOYD T. JENKINSON

Lloyd T. Jenkinson, 87, of Monroe, NE, passed away August 14, 2000 at Columbus Community Hospital.
Services will be held at Monroe United Methodist Church Monroe, NE on Friday, August 18, 2000 at 10:00 AM with Rev. Bev Minor officiating. Interment will be at the Friend Cemetery in Rural Genoa.
Visitation will be held at Gass-Haney Funeral Home on Thursday, from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Monroe United Methodist Church Monroe, NE on Friday, from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM.
Lloyd Thomas Jenkinson, Sr., was born icon April 12, 1913 in rural Monroe, NE, to Edward D. & Belle C. (Harris) Jenkinson. He attended school in Monroe and graduated from Monroe High School in 1932. He then attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln.
On February 26, 1950, Lloyd and Elfrieda Ida Jaeggi were united in marriage in Columbus. The recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Lloyd was a third generation Platte County farmer, farming the same farm that his grandfather homestead nearly 150 years ago. He specialized in the production and exhibiting of Purebred Hampshire Swine. Lloyd served on the Monroe School Board of Education as well as being one of the school bus drivers for many years.

He was a member of the Monroe United Methodist Church, where he had served on the church council. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed going to Lloyd Jr.'s softball games.
Memorials are suggested to the Monroe United Methodist Church.

Robert W. Jones

Robert W. Jones, 84, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2002 at 10:30 AM at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Zurek officiating. Private family interment will be at held at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 2002 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, March 16 from 9:30 AM until service time, all at the Gass Haney Funeral Home. A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial may be directed to Family Choice or Trinity Lutheran Church.

Robert Jones was born icon April 10, 1917 in Mankato, Minnesota to Robert and Frieda (Becker) Jones. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He graduated from high school in Mankato in 1937. While in school, Bob was a three sport athlete. Before graduating from high school he worked with the Civilian Conservation's Corps in northern Minnesota. After high school he worked various jobs. On October 11, 1940 he married Patricia Susan Haller in Estherville, Iowa.
On July 17, 1943 he enlisted in the Navy and trained as a radioman in the Naval Air Corps and served in the Pacific Theater flying in B-24's during WW II. After surviving a plane crash, he recovered and finished his service career on Shore Patrol in San Francisco. After the war he returned to Minnesota and trained in the Twin Cities to learn office machine repair. He worked in office supply sales and repair in Mankato until moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1961 Bob moved his family to Columbus, and continued in the office supply business. He later worked for Kirby Vacuum
and Fleischer Manufacturing before retiring in the late 1980's from full-time work. He returned to work part-time as a janitor at the Columbus City Hall and Police Station in 1998. At his death he was employed at the Columbus Senior Center as a janitor.

Paul E. Osten, 89, of Columbus, Nebraska died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Services are Saturday, March 16, 2002 at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church 14 miles north of Columbus with Rev. Brad Birtell officiating. Interment will be at the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, March 15, 2002 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, March 16, 2002 from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Saturday at 10:15 AM at the church.

Paul E. Osten was born icon August 23, 1912 in rural Platte County, Nebraska to J. Otto and Ida (Hoefelman) Osten. He attended St. John's Lutheran School. He married Elsie Fittje on February 23, 1938 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Columbus, Nebraska. Paul was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church, Platte Center, Nebraska and currently a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he had served as a trustee for many years. Paul was a retired farmer.

Arnold T. Olson

Arnold T. Olson, 86, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Leigh, Nebraska on Saturday, February 16, 2002 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Terry Timm officiating. Interment will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Leigh.
Visitation will be held at Gass Haney Funeral Home on Friday, February 15, 2002 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and at Zion Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 16, 2002 from 9:30 AM until service time. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 on Saturday in the church social hall.

Arnold Olson was born icon August 22, 1915 in rural Leigh, Nebraska to Clarence and Pauline (Rabeler) Olson. He attending Zion Lutheran School in Leigh and graduated from Leigh High School. Arnold married Sylvia Barta on January 2, 1936 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. He was a lifetime resident of Platte County and farmed the family farm until retiring and moving to Columbus.
Arnold was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Leigh where he had served on many boards. He was president of the Creston Pioneer Cemetery Board, an avid reader, enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, doing "mental math" and watching football. He enjoyed working with his hands and always found something to keep him busy. He loved to joke and spend time with his family and his grandchildren.

Werner "Vern" Osten

Werner "Vern" Osten, 87 , of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, November 25, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Services will be on Wednesday, November 28, 2001 at 10:00 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Michael Klatt and Rev. Ernest Smith officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Creston, Nebraska. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2001 from 3-8 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and on Wednesday, November 28, 2001, from 9:00 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service on Wednesday at 9:45 AM at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Creston Rescue Unit or Peace Lutheran Church.

Vern was born icon February 18, 1914 in Columbus, Nebraska to Louis & Lena (Janssen) Osten. He attended St. John's Lutheran School and on January 22, 1941 he was united in marriage to Hilda Luedtke at St. John's Lutheran Church north of Columbus. They farmed together north of Columbus. Vern was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church, 14 miles north of Columbus. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League and enjoyed bowling with them. He loved baseball and Nebraska football. After retiring and moving to Columbus, he became a member of Peace Lutheran Church and delivered meals on wheels.

Reba Schleicher

Reba Schleicher, 88, of Columbus, Nebraska died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, March 22, 2003 at the Gass Haney Funeral Home with Chuck McCarthy officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, Saturday at the funeral home. There will be a private family interment on Friday, April 18th, 2003 at 1:00 PM at the Roselawn Memorial Cemetery.

Reba Schleicher was born icon on January 31, 1915 in Hershey, Nebraska to Henry and Hattie (Pricket) Miller. She attended schools in Hershey and Brady, Nebraska. She married Edward Schleicher on April 16, 1932 in Hershey. They lived in Brady for six years and moved to Columbus in 1938. She was a homemaker, enjoyed playing Bingo, gardening, plants, playing cards and cooking. She enjoyed baby sitting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church.
