Bruce W. Edwards, 72, of 729 N. Lincoln #6, died Thursday, September 25, 2003 at his home.
Services will be Tuesday, September 30, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Pastor Tim Semotan officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Bruce W. Edwards was born
September 8, 1931 in Hastings, Nebraska to Clyde E. & Pansy (Peoples). He graduated from Hastings High School in 1950 and attended Hastings College from 1950-1955. He served in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War from 1952 to1954. He married Bernice Baer and they later divorced. He was owner/operator of Edwards Oil, Blue Diamond Concrete Company and also farmed. He was a member of the Elks Club, Southern Hills Golf Club, American Legion, Canadian Football League-1956 and Hastings College Alumni Association.
Bruce W. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and 3 sisters.

Cecil James Jackson, Sr.
Cecil J. Jackson, Sr., 89, of 1711 Bateman, died Thursday, September 25, 2003 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Services will be Friday, October 3, 2003; 1:30 P.M. at Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene with Rev. David L. Speicher officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Cecil J. Jackson, Sr. was born
October 11, 1913 in Esmond, South Dakota to Fred & Ethel (Strickler) Jackson. He married Esther H. Garbers on April 10, 1939 and she preceded him in death on March 11, 2002. They moved from Columbus, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1942. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp, at the Naval Ammunition Depot and from 1943 to 1978, he was a foreman at Dutton-Lainson Company. Cecil also did tree trimming in Hastings. He was a very active member of the Lakeside Community Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed traveling in his recreational vehicle and fishing.

Norvell F. Blank, 79, of 4150 W. 82nd St., Hastings, Nebraska, died Monday, September 22, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 25, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Michael Houlihan officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
Norvell F. Blank was born
June 28, 1924 in Pierce, Nebraska to Carl D. & Minnie (Dreger) Blank. He served in the United States Navy during WWII from May 2, 1942 to September 20, 1944. On October 10, 1954, he married Helen Trobough and she preceded him in death on April 3, 2002. He worked for the Roseland Public School, Roseland, Nebraska and as a painter in Columbus, Nebraska before moving to Hastings, Nebraska where he worked for Johnson Imperial Homes. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and a 50 year member of the Eagles Club, Hastings, Nebraska.

Oliver Herbert Daniels, 92, of 734 N. 2nd Ave., Hastings, Nebraska, died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at his home.
Memorial service will be Saturday, September 20, 2003; 11:00 A.M. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Barry Rempp officiating. Private family interment at Cedarview Cemetery, Doniphan, Nebraska prior to memorial service.
Oliver Herbert Daniels was born
January 22, 1911 in Leigh, Nebraska to Albert & Tina (Hansen) Daniels. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1931 and moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1937. He married Elayne Shields in 1940 in Hastings. He was employed by the Yellow Diamond Bus Lines and then the Burlington Truck Lines until his retirement in 1971. He worked for the Grand Island Independent until his second retirement in 1989. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Hastings.
Oliver Herbert Daniels was preceded in death by his parents, brother Mike Daniels, sister Elaine McKinnon and his daughter Judy Anderson

Rural Juniata resident, Beverly R. Coats, 78, of 2770 N. Liberty Ave., died Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at her home in the company of her children.
Services will be Friday, September 19, 2003; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Tom Murray officiating. Burial will be in Juniata Cemetery, Juniata, Nebraska.
Beverly R. Coats was born
August 20, 1925 in Hastings, Nebraska to Earl L. & Nellie Mae (Gish) Gangwish. She graduated from Juniata High School in 1942 and immediately enrolled at Kearney State College where she received her teaching degree. On January 22, 1946 she married William C. Coats of Juniata, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2002. Beverly was an active member of the Juniata Community Church, American Legion Auxiliary, years of substitute teaching, Sunday School teacher, 4-H leader, Adams County Extension Club, a dedicated mother and a wonderful friend to many. She was a homemaker and loved bowling, horse shows, baseball games and the annual Las Vegas trips with her husband..
Beverly Coats was preceded in death by her parents, husband William C. Coats, one son Jack Coats, one daughter Jean Coats, one granddaughter Theresa Jeys and four brothers.

Dorothy Mae Eldred was born
January 26, 1922 in Stanberry, Missouri to Dewey & Dolly
(Butts) Stephenson. She moved to Hastings with her family at an early age. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1940 and married Rodney ‘Bill’ Eldred, Jr. on December 14, 1940 in Hastings, Nebraska. Dorothy Mae Eldred worked for several doctor & dentist offices, Nash Finch Company, J.C. Penney Company and T-L Irrigation. She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hastings for 67 years. She was a former member of the Hastings Quilt Guild and she delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. They lived their entire married life in Hastings until April 2003 when they moved to Lincoln due to health reasons.

Charlotte L. Patterson was born
April 20, 1921 in Ft. Morgan, Colorado, to Carl & Clara (Keller) Cook. She moved to Hastings, Nebraska with her family at an early age. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1938 and then worked at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital until her marriage to Morris John Patterson on March 28, 1943. He preceded her in death on January 9, 1988. In 1945, Morris and his brother started Patterson Well Drilling Company in Hastings, Nebraska. She was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church, Hastings, Nebraska.
Charlotte L. Patterson was preceded in death by her parents and husband Morris John Patterson.
