Hastings resident, Leonard E. Crick, 88, of The Kensington, 233 N. Hastings, died Monday, June 2, 2003 at Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.
Rosary service will be Wednesday, June 4, 2003; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, June 5, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be Thursday, June 5, 2003; 2:00 P.M. in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Friend, Nebraska with Father David F. Bourek officiating.
Leonard E. Crick was born
October 10, 1914 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Harry & Louise (Becker) Crick. He graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, Nebraska in 1933. On April 19, 1941, he married Catherine M. Trumble and she preceded him in death on February 12, 1987. He served in the United States Army during WWII from April 23, 1943 until July 10, 1944. He moved from Omaha, Nebraska to Hastings, Nebraska in 1949, then to Exeter, Nebraska, then to Minden, Nebraska and back to Hastings. He was a tool & die maker and also worked for the United States Civil Service, retiring in 1968. On April 15, 1988, he married Velma Siemsen and she preceded him in death on January 21, 1994. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Crosier Apostolate. He was a former mayor of Exeter, Nebraska. Leonard and Catherine owned and operated the DLD Tepee Motel in Hastings, Nebraska.
Leonard E. Crick was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Catherine and Velma, two infant sons, John & Paul, son-in-law, Dannie Reddick, great grandson, Brandon Reddick and a sister, Mary Louise Crick.

Marie Magdalena Wolf, 94, of The Villa, Good Samaritan Village, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, Nebraska.
Services are Saturday, August 2, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel in Hastings, Nebraska with the Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial will be Monday, August 4, 2003; 10:00 A.M. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Gregory, South Dakota with Pastor Russ Grim officiating.
Marie Magdalena Wolf was born
February 28, 1909 in Gregory County, South Dakota to George and Elizabeth (Spady) Krieger. She moved to Hastings in 1929, and on June 2, 1946, she married John R. Wolf. He preceded her in death on October 9, 1983. She worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hastings, Nebraska, and involved in United Methodist Women, adult choir and a member of the Asbury Sunday school class. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary #11, Rebekah Lodge, the Choralettes, and the Adams County Genealogical Society. She was a past member of the Women’s Relief Corps and the Eagles Auxiliary.
Marie Magdalena Wolf was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five brothers, two sisters, and one grandson, Robert I. Wolf.

October 30, 1934 in Springfield, MO to Benjamin & Lenore (Tonella) Fisher. He married Joyce Laubner on December 16, 1953 in San Francisco, CA. She preceded him in death in 1992. He served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a dispatcher / manager for Allen’s Messenger Service in San Francisco, CA.

Bernard "Bernie" Kinley
Bernard “Bernie” Kinley, 78, of 517 South Lexington, Hastings, Nebraska died July 27, 2003 at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Services will be Friday, August 1, 2003; 2:00 P.M. at First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, Nebraska with Dr. James Cooke officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Hastings, Nebraska.
Bernard “”Bernie” Kinley was born
April 17, 1925 in Bladen, Nebraska to Robert & Lula May (Faler) Kinley. He graduated from Bladen High School, Bladen, Neraska in 1943. Received his B.A. in 1949 from Doane College, Crete, Nebraska and received his M.ED. in 1970 from Colorado State University. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1944-1946 and was honorably discharged. He married Oriel (Sorensen) on June 6, 1970 in Hastings, Nebraska. He taught at Kenesaw Public Schools from 1946-1948. From 1949 - 1953 he was a high school principal and teacher at Fairmont Public Schools. He was a building and trades instructor at Milford, Nebraska Vocational Technical School from 1963 - 1966. He was one of the initial instructors at the founding of Central Community College, Hastings, in 1966. He retired in 1987 as Associate Dean of Educational Centers, Central Community College. He has spent the last 12 winters in Casa Grande, Arizona with Oriel. He was a member of the American Legion Post #21, Eagle’s Club, Phi Delta Theta, First Presbyterian Church , Hastings, Nebraska, Retired Teachers Association and was a lifetime member of ACEAN (Adult and Continuing Education of Nebraska). He was the president of the Board of Education in Fairmont, Nebraska from 1957- 1968 and also was a charter member of the Lions Club in Fairmont, Nebraska.

Francis Marsh was born
February 16, 1906 in Hastings, Nebraska to Charles E. & Bertha C.M. (Jessie) Marsh. On June 9, 1929 he married Sarah Opal Delehoy in Blue Hill, Nebraska and she preceded him in death in 1993. He worked at White Mountain Creamery, Bi Lo Market, Stewart Plumbing, U.S. Navy Ammo in Hastings, and retired from the Cornhusker Ammo Plant in Grand Island, Nebraska. He was a member for over 70 years of the First Christian Church in Hastings, Sr. Citizens of Hastings and the Steam Fitters Union.

W. LeRoy Sinsel, 66, of Naponee, Nebraska died Friday, July 25, 2003 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2003; 10:30 A.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel, Hastings, Nebraska with Rev. Duane Lauber officiating. Private family interment at a later date.
W. LeRoy Sinsel was born
July 8, 1937 at Minden, Nebraska to Henry & Lena (Wieck) Sinsel.
He graduated from Hastings High School in 1955 and he married Sharon Webb on July 22, 1956 in Hastings. He worked for Hastings Concrete Products and retired from the Hastings City Landfill. His hobbies were restoring old furniture, woodworking, hunting, fishing and antiques. He served in the Nebraska National Guards.

August 1, 1907 in Sutton, Nebraska to Ole & Pauline (Wolf) Kalberg. She graduated from Sutton High School. On March 9,1933, she married Robert J. Ryan In Grand Island, Nebraska and he preceded her in death on May, 16, 1970. She worked at Debus Baking Company. She was a member of the Adams County Extension Club and First Presbyterian Church in Hastings, Nebraska.

Harold Wagner was born
June 5, 1916 in Minatare, Nebraska to Conrad & Anna M. (Wagner) Wagner. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1934 . On October 11, 1940. He married Norma Veryl Moles in Hastings, Nebraska and she preceded him in death on September 29, 1986. He served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He worked as a supply supervisor for Western Land Roller and was a member of First Methodist Church, Eagles and V.F.W. He was an American Legion baseball umpire, enjoyed traveling on gaming bus tours and was a avid bowler.

Olive Florence Koepke, 85,of Perkins Pavilion, died Sunday, July 20, 2003 at Perkins Pavilion.
Services will be Wednesday, July 24, 2003; 10:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. James P. Cooke officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Olive Florence Koepke was born
April 4, 1918 in Lincoln, Nebraska to William Henry & Ada (Reese) Newhouse. She spent her childhood in Auburn, Nebraska where she graduated from high school in 1936. She worked in Falls City, Nebraska, later marrying Glen Stumbo and moving to Omaha, Nebraska. The couple had two children, a son Gary and a daughter, Cheryl. They divorced and Mrs. Koepke moved with her children to Hastings in 1948. She worked at Clark Motor Company in Hastings as a bookkeeper for a few years. In 1954, she began working for Mary Lanning Hospital and spent 31 years there, retiring from the accounting department in 1985. Mrs. Koepke then worked at the Lockwood Dental Office. In 1969, she married Gilbert Koepke and he preceded her in death on December 22,1975. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a 4-H leader and a member of the Eastern Star and Business Professional Women.
