Martha Louise Robinson, 70, of 503 N. Elm Ave., died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Services will be Friday, March 23, 2001; 2:00 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel with Rev. Earl Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Martha Louise (Brill) Robinson was born
to Jacob, Sr. & Maria (Fox) Brill on January 3, 1931 in Whitney, Nebraska in the family home. On December 10, 1950, she was united in marriage to Donald M. Robinson in Whitney, Nebraska at the home of the brides parents, Jacob, Sr & Maria Brill. To that union was born
one daughter, Sherry. They moved to Crawford, Nebraska prior to moving to California. They established their permanent residence in Hastings, Nebraska in 1952 where she dedicated her life being a wife, mother and homemaker.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Shirley, Dorothy and an infant sister and 1 brother, Leo Brill.

Esther G. Yilk, 82, of 1347 No. Pine Ave., died Monday, March 19, 2001 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Rosary will be Thursday, March 22, 2001; 7:30 P.M. at Butler-Volland Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, March 23, 2001; 10:30 A.M. at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church with Father Larry Gyhra officiating. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery, Hastings, Nebraska.
Esther G. Yilk was born
March 23, 1918 in Hastings, Nebraska to Alfred William & Esther (Bailey) Sorenson. She graduated from Nelson High School, Nelson, Nebraska in 1935 and married Anthony ‘Tony' Yilk on October 21, 1942. He preceded her in death in 1984. She worked at Woolworths, Allen's Department Store, Crosier Monastery and Sunnyside Home. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and it's Altar Society, Community Quilting Guilds, Catholic Daughters and was active in Extension Club.
Esther G. Yilk was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Anthony ‘Tony', brother, William, son, Bob and a daughter, Pat (Yilk) Horacek.

Dallas T. ‘Pete' McCallum, 90, 918 E. 6th Street, died Sunday, March 18, 2001 at his home.

Dallas T. ‘Pete' McCallum was born
January 26, 1911 in Bladen, Nebraska to Robert A. & Georgia P. (Hall) McCallum. He moved to Hastings, Nebraska from Blue Hill, Nebraska in 1959 and married Winifred June Mitchell Winter in 1959. She preceded him in death on May 7, 1989. He worked at the Hastings Regional Center for 12 years, retiring in 1975. He was a Golden Age Eagle member.
Dallas T. ‘Pete' McCallum was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Winnie, 4 sisters and 1 brother.

Herschel Simmering, 91, of 104 W. 7th Street, died Friday, March 16, 2001 at Perkins Pavilion.
Graveside services and burial will be Tuesday, March 27, 2001; 2:00 P.M. St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Broken Bow, Nebraska.
Herschel Simmering was born
May 18, 1909 south of Hastings, Nebraska to Fred & Theda (Bruns) Simmering. During grade school, he moved with his family to Colorado and returned to Hastings a few years later. He graduated from Hastings High School in 1928 and married Fay Nora Marchek at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church. He worked in the office for Standard Oil, and later as a salesman for K & R, Sunshine Biscuit and Hastings Battery & Electric all in Hastings, Nebraska. He was a member of Sierra Club, Stamp & Coin Collectors in Grand Island and the Class Reunion Group. He enjoyed playing the piano, swimming, bicycling, hiking, camping, picnicking and traveling to the mountains.
Herschel Simmering was preceded in death by his sister, Evelyn Witt and a brother, Weston Simmering.

C. Marvin Lovell, 84, of 409 E. 9th Street, died Friday, March 16, 2001 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital.
Requiem Eucharist will be Tuesday, March 20, 2001; 1:30 P.M. at St. Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral with the Very Rev. Richard J. Martindale officiating. Committal will be in All Soul's Chapel, Saint Mark's Pro-Cathedral, Hastings, Nebraska.
C. Marvin Lovell was born
June 12, 1916 in Hastings, Nebraska to James Henry & Alberta (Kaye) Lovell. He graduated from Hastings High School and attended Hastings College. On June 12, 1938 , he married Lois Jaden. He retired from Byers Lumber and was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Pro-Cathedral where he was a former vestryman, Mid-West Lodge No 317 A.F & A.M., Scottish Rite, Tehama Shrine, Jesters and Sandheaters. He was a past member of Lochland Country Club. He was a life long Hastings resident.

Deloris M. Gunderson was born
July 16, 1923 in Fairbury, Nebraska to Roy & Pearl (Krabel) Guthrie. She moved to Hastings, Nebraska with her family in 1935. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1941 and on June 7, 1944, married Victor A. ‘Tony' Gunderson at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Hastings, Nebraska. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2000. Deloris was a nurse's assistant and secretary for Dr. Herbert F. Anderson for 15 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Harold Henry McDaniel
Harold Henry McDaniel, 100, of The Kensington, 233 N. Hastings, died Tuesday, March 13, 2001 at The Kensington.
Services will be Monday, March 19, 2001; 1:00 P.M. at First United Methodist Church, Lyndon, Kansas. Burial will be in Lyndon Cemetery, Lyndon, Kansas.
Harold Henry McDaniel was born
September 25, 1900 in Michigan Valley, Kansas to William B. & Ruth (Baxter) McDaniel. After graduating from Baker University in 1923, he spent seven years as a high school coach and then went into the hardware and implement business with his father and brother in Lyndon, Kansas. He married Dorothy V. Ellis at Joplin, Missouri in 1925 and they lived in Lyndon, Kansas until they moved to Hastings, Nebraska in 1981. He was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church, a Mason since 1924, was associated with Baker University as Alumni president, eight years on the Board of Trustees, received an University Citation in 1966, and was a member of the Zeta Chi Fraternity. Before moving to Hastings, he served for several years as President of Lyndon State Bank, was an officer of National Baseball Association and participated in many other community activities. In Hastings, he was a member of the Chorus of the Plains and was active at the Good Samaritan Village. In July 2000, Harold and Dorothy celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary.
