Funeral Services are 10: 30 a.m. Tuesday January 28, 2003 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with Reverend Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Burial is in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation is 4: 00 p.m. - 8: 00 p.m. Monday with a 7: 00 p.m. Vigil Service at McKown Funeral Home. Visitation continues Tuesday morning from 8: 00 a.m. - 10: 00 a.m. also at the funeral home. Bertha M. Tlamka was born March 26, 1919 in Dwight, Nebraska to Edward and Anna (Turek) Shonka. She attended school in Surprise, Nebraska. On February 11, 1946 she was united in marriage to Raymond Tlamka at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in Columbus, Nebraska. The couple lived in Columbus where Bertha raised her family and worked at Becton - Dickinson as a needle inspector. She was a member of St. Isidore Church, Christian Mothers. and the D.A.V. Auxiliary.

David M. Wozny, age 60, of Columbus, Nebraska died Sunday January 12, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. David M. Wozny was born November 17, 1942 in Fullerton, Nebraska to Louis and Frances (Wozniak) Wozny. He was raised in Fullerton and received his education in Nance County. He lived in the Fullerton surrounding area before moving to Wisconsin and then moving to Columbus. David drove truck and worked as a heavy equipment operator for various companies. He enjoyed fishing, tractor pulls, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and spending time with his grandchildren.

Adam W. Torczon, age 86 of Columbus died Sunday; January 19, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services are 10: 30 a.m. Wednesday; January 22, 2003 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. Adam W. Torczon was born January 12, 1917 in Tarnov, Nebraska to Kaiton and Catherine(Jazwick) Torczon. He received his education in Tarnov. He continued to live and farm in the Tarnov area until moving to Columbus in the 1950's. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
Adam is survived by his brother Clem of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Cecelia.

John Francis Cave, age 68, of Silver Creek died Thursday; January 2, 2003 at the Columbus Community Hospital. Funeral services will be 10: 30 a.m. Monday; January 6, 2003 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Dave Korth will officiate. John Francis Cave was born November 6, 1934 in Spalding, NE to George and Mary (Schleich) Cave. He grew up in Genoa and graduated from Genoa High School in 1953. On October 2, 1954 he married Elizabeth Boro in Silver Creek. They lived in Columbus after first being married, then moved to Silver Creek. He worked for Behlen Manufacturing in Columbus for forty years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, completing crosswords, and being with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of Saint Lawrence Catholic Church and the Loup-Platte Duck Club.

Henry Stanley Chohon was born January 19, 1915 in Platte County, Nebraska to John and Mary (Jaworski) Chohon. He was raised in Platte County and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from July 1942 - November 1945 where he received 2 Battle Stars. On October 16, 1944 Henry was united in marriage to Lucille A. Steiner at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey, Nebraska. The couple lived and farmed in Merrick County until 1984 when they retired and moved to Columbus. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Eagles Club, and the American Legion. Henry was a devoted husband and father.

Kenneth Oppliger was born December 10, 1920 on the family farm in Polk County, Nebraska to Ernest and Louise (Winkelman) Oppliger. He graduated from Kramer High School. He married Dorothy Birkel on October 9, 1944 in Columbus, Nebraska. Kenneth lived and farmed on the family farm his entire life. He also built and distributed grain bins and farm buildings. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Elks Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, playing cards and visiting with friends.

Joseph W. Ryan was born May 2, 1925 in Kimball, SD to John & Eva (Meis) Ryan. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1943 then moved to Columbus. He served in the US Army from 1946-1947. Joe lived and worked in Columbus and Grinnell, Iowa for the local GTE telephone company before retiring in 1985 when he returned to Columbus. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking and crossword puzzles.
