Eugene Joseph Maly, 68, of Lincoln, died Tuesday, June 9 at home with his family. Eugene was born on February 8, 1941 in West Point, NE to William & Elizabeth (Ortmeier) Maly. He was a US Navy Veteran, member of Knights of Columbus & the Cathedral of the Risen Christ Parish, where he ushered for 25 years.
Eugene is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jenny Uhing Maly; children (spouses), Mary (Jon) Bargen of Lincoln, Cathy (Pat) Mertens of Hastings, NE, Bill (Susie) Maly of Denver, CO, Jodi (Ron) Broughton of Omaha; 13 grandchildren, Brent & Molly Milow, Dan & Alicia Bargen, A.J. & Denise Mertens, Mike, Jake & Ellie Mertens, Jack, Charlie & Ben Maly, Stephanie, Sarah & Megan Broughton; first great grandson due in September; siblings (spouses), Rita (Bill) Goeden and Vince (Elaine) Maly of West Point, NE, Elise (Don) Bartek of Colorado Springs, CO, Esther (Tom) Compton of Pueblo, CO, Edie (Barry) Barlow of Oregon, Pat (Donna) Maly of Lincoln and Aggie (Al) Evert of Las Vegas, NV.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Zita Maly
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Saturday at the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in Lincoln with Monsignor Robert Tucker officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery in Lincoln. A rosary will be at 7:00 pm Friday @ Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 am – 9 pm Friday @ the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth’s Hospice or Cathedral of the Risen Christ.

Kim was a member and supporter of Indian Hills Community Church, Lincoln Christian School, Women’s Bible Studies, Prayer Groups. Devoted Wife, Mother & Grandmother. Best friend to all.

McCoy, Harlan L.
Harlan L. McCoy, 86, Lincoln, died Monday, September 21. He was born December 9, 1922 in Gross, NE, the 4th son of Hilda and Robert F. McCoy. He served in the US Army in France, Belgium and Germany during World War II, including the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. After his military service, he received his Bachelor's of Education from UN-L in 1949. He then taught Voc-Ag in Hay Springs, NE, for seven years, followed by two years as a pharmaceutical representative for the animal division of American Cyanimid Company, living in Minneapolis, MN, and Carroll, IA. His Master's degree in Education Administration was granted in 1958 from UN-L, and he then served as Superintendent of Schools in Culbertson, O'Neill, and Valentine, NE. He later served a variety of administrative roles for the Nebraska State Dept of Education in Lincoln, NE, and Nettleton College of Business and Metrotech Community College, both in Omaha, NE. After retiring in 1985, he and his wife lived in Alpine and Fresno, CA, returning to Lincoln in 2005. Harlan was a member of the Masonic Temple in Papillion, NE, the Scottish Rite & the Sesotris Shrine in Lincoln.
Harlan is survived by his childhood sweetheart (Springview, NE) and wife of 65 years, Bernadean A. (Robertson) McCoy. Their children include son Jay McCoy of Somerset, KY; son Dr. Michael McCoy and wife Liz Shea-McCoy, of Lincoln, NE; and daughter Marsha and husband Van Wetzig of Fort Collins, CO. Their grandchildren include Jenny and Adam Hoffman, Waco, TX; Mary Shea, Santa Fe, NM; Jason McCoy, Muscatine, IA; Joseph Kelly, Fort Collins, CO; Travis McCoy, Somerset, KY; and Katherine Shea, Lincoln, NE; sisters, Marvel Forgey of Springview, NE & Fern Kay Sexton & husband Walt of Hanover, IN.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, September 26, at
Butherus, Maser & Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln, NE, with the Rev. Wayne Alloway officiating, reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children or Special Olympics.

Lembrich, Verna Mae (Smith)
Services of Verna Mae (Smith) Lembrich, 75, died Wednesday, 10/07/09 at home. Born January 3, 1934 to John and Ruth Smith on a farm near Martell, Nebraska. She attended rural school, Blessed Sacrament Elementary and Cathedral High School.
Married Derald Lembrich, August 16, 1950 and accompanied him in his military service to Ft. Riley, KS, Ft. Benning, GA, Camp Atterbury, IN, Ft. Carson CO, Augsburg, Germany, Governor’s Island, New York, Ft. Meade, MD, Karlsruhe, Germany, returning to Lincoln during Derald’s three years of absences while on overseas duty in Korea, and Vietnam.
Verna loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Australia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, Hong Kong, Vietnam and Thailand. She did volunteer work with Catholic Social Services and worked at Francis Gee Uniform Company where she became a regional supervisor of stores in Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa. Upon company closure, she established V’s Career Apparel in Lincoln with additional stores in Omaha and Council Bluffs, IA. Verna retired in 2005 due to ill health.
Preceded in death by her parents and brother, Harold.
Verna is survived by her husband, Derald, her children Candis and Bill Emanuel of Sioux City, IA, and Tina Clough of Lincoln, Tim Lembrich of Lincoln, 9 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Marcella and John Ludden, and brother and sister-in-law, Everett and JoAnn Smith
