Wendell G. “Curley” Wells, 80, died Tuesday, November 1, 2005 in Friend, Nebraska. Born July 30, 1925 on a farm near Narka, KS to Barton D. & Hattie (Hutcherson) Wells.
He married
Anna A Sadil in 1950 having one child, Carol Ann. They resided in Fairbury, Gilead and Chester before settling in Friend where he lived the remainder of his life. After Anna’s death in 1990 he later married
Betty (Beachler) a former family friend and high school sweetheart. They lived 10 happy and wonderful years together in Friend enjoying numerous trips, cruises and NU football games together.
He was known for his many talents, which included gardening, woodworking, coin collecting and his new found hobby of lapidary. He was an avid and faithful NU Cornhusker fan and had a natural ability to “fix” almost anything or would certainly make every attempt to. His entrepreneurial spirit had him always working on numerous ideas and projects and was best known in Friend for his small engine repair business and mechanical abilities. Many lawns were groomed and manicured following his fine-tuning and repairs to the mowers of the local residents.
He was most proud of his tomato growing and harvest, often heard boasting of his tomato crop.
His earthly presence will be greatly missed by all his family and friends but his spirit will live on in all who loved him.
