Field-Koehler -- Austin J., 7, Lincoln, died Tuesday in St. Joseph, Mo. Born, Lincoln (12/27/94). Member, Okinawan Karate Kare, Maxey Elementary School, Little Greens Track Club. Blue belt in karate. Loved fishing and camping, Little Chiefs Baseball, Capital Soccer Association.
Austin attended karate classes at the Okinawan Karate School in its summer camps and after-school karate program for the last year. In that short time, Austin attended more than 300 classes. His development and dedication were recognized not only by family and friends but also by his teachers. During the summer of 2001, Austin had the opportunity to train with Kaicho Takashi Kinjo, who is recognized by the prime minister of Japan as one of the leading martial artists of this age. Kaicho Takashi Kinjo commented about Austin's dedication and advancement in the study of karate. Kaicho will be visiting Austin's karate school in Lincoln this September, at which time he will present Austin's mother a special recognition, giving Austin an honorary black belt.

Milton -- Patrick G. "Buck," 69, Elberta, Ala., died May 29, 2002, in Daphne, Ala., from a two-year battle with cancer. Born, Lincoln (12/4/32). While growing up, loved farming. Attended Havelock School. Graduated, Lincoln Northeast, 1951, where he played football and basketball. Inducted into 1998 Northeast Hall of Fame for football. Avid sports fan.
Life member, past commander, VFW Post 5658, Elberta, Ala. Member, American Legion, Foley, Ala.; Lincoln Naval Air Reserve. Retired after 25 years, master chief, U.S. Navy. Was Honored Veteran of the Year 2000 by VFW Post 5658 in Elberta. Served, South Pole Deep Freeze Operation where a mountain is named after him (Mount Milton). Career counselor on the USS Lexington, Pensacola, Fla. Volunteered and served 41/2 years in Vietnam. Served during Iran crisis. Awards include: Good Conduct Medal 7th Award; National Defense Service Medal 3rd Award; Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon; Antarctica Service Medal; Historical Medal; Purple Heart.
Survivors: sister, "Skip" Tweton, Lincoln; aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends in Lincoln and Alabama. Preceded in death by grandparents; parents; sister, "Mick" Moreland; aunts; uncles; cousins.
Memorial service was held at the VFW in Elberta, Ala. He was laid to rest with family at Fairview cemetery, Lincoln.

Price -- R. Jean, 85, Cortland, died Wednesday (7/31/2002) inLincoln. Born, on a farm near Cortland (7/22/17). Graduate, Cortland High School, 1935, where he played football. Baptized and confirmed in the Congregational Church of Cortland and later transferred membership to the Methodist Church where he served as a trustee. Member, Cortland United Church. Married Eileen Bailey, May 28, 1947. They lived and farmed on his grandparents' homestead in rural Cortland. In addition to agriculture and dairy farming, he did custom work, corn shelling and was employed by the Firth Coop selling anhydrous at the Cortland plant, 20 years. He was a 4-H Club leader, nine years; served on the Highland Township Board; vice president, Highland cemetery Association. Charter member and member, Cortland Rural Fire Board, 36 years, served as treasurer, 16 years and a volunteer firefighter, 21 years. Enjoyed his family, visiting neighbors and friends, working in his shop, attending senior citizen meetings and especially liked to visit the special health care workers that he met in his later years. He had a great sense of humor and love for others.
